Chapter 4: Robot Rebel Ranch

Zero and Shadow arrive at the training facility seeing a large mess of robots all around them in pieces.

"Who or what is responsible for this kind of destruction?"

Shadow points out the devastator himself. "Right over there. You two have meet before, albeit not on good terms."

Zero runs over to them realizing who it was. "You! You're that robot." He lowers his sword upon realizing it was E-123 Omega.

Omega lowers his arm cannon looking at Zero. "Identifying lifeform. Identified as deceased mercenary Infinite. Initiate annihilation." The robot takes aim only for Rouge to swoop in.

"Now now, Omega. Zero here is with us."

The robot then scans through his data. "Searching database for persons labeled Zero. One match found. Zero. Discharged agent following failed lunar colony project."

Zero nods. "Can you put the gun down now?"

Omega then adjusts his aim and mows down a rogue robot. "Negative. Perimeter not yet secure. Rebel robots are overtaking the training facility. Stop them here before their expansion into the remainder of the base."

Shadow strikes down several bots as he looks at Zero. "Don't just stand there. Start cutting them up."

The jackal leaps up and spins down slicing through multiple bots at once.

Rouge flies across the room dropping some of her bombs down on them. "On the bright side this makes for a good training session."

Omega continues to fire down several bots as they kept coming. "Scanners indicate an outside interference causing the robots to rebel. Locate and eliminate this interference."

Zero looks around the room for any sign of interference. "Where's the reading coming from, bot?"

"Interference signal is the strongest in the northeast. Also, refer to me by title, canine."

"Fair enough, Omega. Rouge, I need some air."

Rouge flies down picking up Zero. "Just tell me where to, sugar."

"Northeast part of the room. If I'm right,…"

The bat flies Zero towards the northeast part of the room letting him down.

The jackal checks behind a stack of crates. "What the…?"

One of the thieves from before was using a device to control the robot frequencies. "Uh oh."

Zero swipes down destroying the thief's machine causing the bots to deactivate.

"I've been compromised! Bring me back!"

"Wait! I'm not finished with…"

A warp opens behind the thief who then leaps in quickly before it disappears.

"…you."

Shadow, Rouge and Omega approach the jackal looking at the remains of the device.

"They found the base."

Shadow crosses his arms looking down. "Guess they're trying to get what they couldn't take from me back at the mineral museum."

Omega turns to Shadow. "Interpreting vague description of the item of interest as the Chaos Emerald."

"Exactly."

Rouge kneels beside Zero seeing him scrape together the pieces. "Something wrong, Zero?"

Zero looks up at her. "I've seen this technology before. I think… No. It can't be."

Rouge helps him up to his feet. "Don't worry about t too much. For now we have the situation under control."

Shadow nods in agreement. "Let's head back and try to piece together what we know."

Zero follows him along with Rouge and Omega as he continued to think about the device. "I hope it isn't so."
