The very next day...
Eyeliner, extra coats of mascara, lip gloss, check. I step back and look in the mirror. Damn. I should really try more often. The red blouse I'm wearing accentuates my curves, but makes me look slimmer. My eyes look bright and wide, like a doe's. I really hope that he notices me.
As I arrive at school, I get more and more nervous. What the hell is wrong with me? Nothing is even going to happen, either way. I've just gotta breathe.
What if he asks me to homecoming? That's soon.
Oh, wow. I've gotta get him to ask me to homecoming. Maybe I could ask him?
The day drags by, until finally, I'm in biology again. I drop my stuff at my desk and head directly to Jasper. Should I tell him about my plan?
"Hey, Jasper."
"Hi, Bella. What's up?"
Here goes.
"What do you know about Edward?"
Jasper laughs.
"A lot, but at the same time, not so much. Why?"
"W-well..." I stutter. "I might... um... like him. A little bit. I just want to know his interests and stuff, to see how my chances are."
He sighed a heavy sigh.
"I wouldn't get too excited Bella. Don't get me wrong, I think y'all would be great together, but you should know, he..." He stops abruptly, looking at the door. I turn to see what he is looking at, and it's Edward.
"Jasper, tell me, before he gets here!" I hiss at him.
Jasper shakes his head, looking directly behind me.
"Tell you what before who gets where?" A smooth voice behing me asks.
Shit.
"Oh, nothing. Not important. At all. How are you doing, Edward?" I said, trying to distract him from the conversation that I was having with Jasper.
"Um, I'm doing alright, I suppose. You?"
"I'm fine. Just fine. So, Edward, tell me," I looked up at him through my lashes. "What are your plans for homecoming?"
He smiled his crooked grin, and he looks so adorable. Oh, I wish he'd ask me. Then he opened his mouth and the worst thing came out.
"I'm going with my very lovely girlfriend."
