So, explaining the long wait for a new chapter:

Simply put, I suck. Seriously, I suck big horrible marshmallow balls because of writers block. I get into an awesome story, I have the whole thing planned in my head, but the words I need to make this awesome plan happen? They vanish the second I sit down to write. I have to seriously daydream about my OWN story in order to come up with anything good enough for it.

So, In an effort to get back into the swing of things, I began writing 'Screaming While Dreaming' (To those that don't know, it's my other Hiei/OC fanfic, just much darker and a tad disturbing.) to help me come up with some new ideas. I guess you can say I get burnt out on a story so I start another one to give me a break from it for a while, gives me a new point of view on it anyway.

After a while, I go back, read over what I have written and then pick it back up again because my brain is set in a different direction now and I'm able to clearly think up plot twists better and I don't feel like I'm forcing this shit out my backside.

Anyway, so you know now. I'm no golden writer, I suck marshmallow balls because of writers block and various other reasons I'm sure you've all thought up too. I just wanted you all to know, I'm sorry and I'm going to TRY and keep updating my stories in a loop: This one first, then A Rose of Another Name then Screaming While Dreaming. I'm not promising an update on one of those every day, I'm not even saying I'll update once a week. I'm just saying I'll update when I can. Keep an eye out on those three so you know what one I've worked on.

Alright, so all of that is out of the way, on to the story that I've started to gain a new appreciation for.

I do not own YYH Or their characters

I do own Sonya, Jinx and the plot

Grunting under her breath, Sonya gripped her side with one of her hands, glaring at the grass she clutched between the fingers of her other while she knelt on the grass, panting for breath and trying desperately to push aside the throbbing ache in her barely-healed wound. "Hiei, she can't even get up. How do you expect to train her in this condition?" Kurama's cool voice caught her attention and making her shoot a sharp glare in the direction it came from as she climbed back to her feet slowly. "I don't care. I want this, now stop babying me." Sonya groaned, irritated her words came out with less force than she wanted, making the statement sound more like a plead than a command.

"I'm worried about your health, Sonya. How do you plan on fighting him if you can't even keep your feet on the ground?" The red head demanded, green eyes flashing with barely leashed frustration at her insistance to push her body beyond what it was ready for. Without waiting for her to respond, he stalked over, ignoring Hiei's sharp gaze when he reached her side and gently took her arm. She may have chosen the Fire Demon, but he'd be damned if he'd let that stop him from taking care of her. "Enough for today, Sonya. You've been at it for two hours. That's more than enough for your first day back to training." Kurama coaxed her softly, slowly leading the girl away from the open field and towards the temple.

"Kurama." Hiei's tone carried a warning in it rarely directed towards the former fox, making his back stiffen slightly. Gritting his teeth, Kurama counted backwards from ten in his head then lifted his head back up to face forward once again. "Can you give us a moment, Hiei?" He asked softly without turning around to see a pair of red eyes blink then narrow once again before vanishing along with their owner, leaving Kurama and Sonya alone in the shadow of a giant tree. It didn't take much to know why he wanted to be alone with her. And considering he did win in the end, he could give the red head a few final minutes with her on his own terms. Perching himself on a limb of a tree next to the temple, he cast a final glance over towards the distant figures as the taller one led the other towards the edge of the forest for privacy.

He could give him that much. But no more.

"Kurama?" Sonya's voice cut through his thoughts, making him turn his head and cast an easy smile down at her curious face when she looked up at him with a confused frown. "Yes?" Her teeth bit into her lower lip while he watched her with sharp green eyes, mentally catalouging her face from this distance considering he wouldn't get to anymore after this. He bit back a low chuckle of amusement when he spotted seven freckles scattered across the top of her nose that he never noticed before. The little scar below her right eye was nearly invisible unless seen in the right lighting as well. "Why exactly are we in the forest instead of the temple?"

He never realized before now, but her top front teeth were slightly larger than normal, making them show more when she spoke, curious. "You chose, Hiei. Correct?" He finally stated, needing her confermation in order to be able to put it behind him. It woudn't be easy, but it wouldn't be as difficult if he didn't hear it directly from her. Not daring to look away from her, he caught the faint flush that rose to her cheeks when she looked down at her feet nervously. "Ye... Yes." Sonya breathed softly, still refusing to look up at him, making Kurama's lips quirk up at the corners. "Just as I thought. How can I compete with him after all? You share a similar past. Troubled and painful." He murmured, making her look up at him again, an echo of pain flickering in her blue eyes before they returned to their normal cheer. "Yes, I suppose you can say that."

"Hm." Kurama hummed in agreement, a hand reaching up to cup her cheek, his thumb brushing across the skin there, memorizing it's feel. "I have a request for you." Blue eyes blinked up at him curiously, the red in her cheeks darker than before as he continued to caress her cheek and jaw gently. "A request?"

"Yes. Before I loose my nerve." Kurama chuckled gently, leaning his head down to study her expression with interest. "I understand your decision and hold no grudge for you or Hiei. But, I am not such a good looser that I won't ask for a kiss before you return to him. One kiss is all I ask." Leaning forward slightly, he smiled at her as the skin under his hand heated to a near critial level, the red on her cheeks almost matching his hair. "A... Kiss?" Sonya asked hesitantly, her eyes glancing to the side in the direction of the temple before flicking back to his face. "I don't know-"

"Hiei knows." He reassured her, his lips quirking up at her show of devotion, even if she didn't realize it. She just proved to him that there would be no chance to sway her from her choice in the future. "Why else would he leave you alone with me in the woods?" Her face heated up once again at the comment making her duck her head down in embarassment. "I'm just... I... Oh dear." She sighed as he tipped her head back up so he could look at her once again with amusement clearly written across his face. "A kiss, Sonya?"

Opening her mouth, Sonya tried to give him an answer only to have a rather undiginified squeak slip out instead. Snapping her lips shut, she flushed again when Kurama chuckled. Narrowing her eyes at him in warning, she pulled her chin out of his grasp and went to take a step away, stopping when he grabbed her wrist. "Sorry, Sorry. I just don't think I've ever heard anyone make a noise quite like that before." He laughed softly, pulling her back to face him with a smile on his face. Sonya sighed quietly then turned to face him fully, her arms crossed over her chest uncomforably in an act of defiance. "Sonya, don't be angry. I am sorry for that." He coaxed her with another of his charming smiles, making her drop her arms with a reluctant grin back.

"Now, at the risk of you making me laugh and end up making you angry once again- May I have a kiss?" He asked gently, one eyebrow cocked upwards as he asked his question once again, watching her face flare up pink at his words. She opened her mouth only to snap it shut again to his amusement, apparently she learned her lesson the first time around. With a moment's hesitation, Sonya finally nodded her head slowly, refusing to draw her eyes up from the ground to look at him.

Sucking in a silent breath at her answer, Kurama felt himself hesitate as well, unsure if he should follow through with this. She was obviously embarassed and a little uncomfortable with the whole situation but... He cast a quick glance over in the direction of the temple then back down at her. He deserved this much at least. He was the king of thieves in his prime, to steal a kiss from her would be nothing, and Hiei... Hiei couldn't complain considering he'd have all of her to himself. Yes, he wanted and deserved at least this much.

Stepping forward, Kurama placed his hands on her shoulders, making Sonya look up at him, red face and all as he gently guided her to walk backwards until her back rested against a nearby tree. Locking his green eyes onto her blue, he smiled gently, a hand sliding up her neck to cup her chin as he studied her in silence for the moment, enjoying it for as long as he could. "Kura-" She started before he cut her off suddenly, his lips colliding with hers almost roughly. Shutting his eyes tightly, Kurama cupped the back of her head, his fingers tangling in her hair with one hand, the other slipping down to drag one of her arms up around his own neck. When she just let it dangle there, he broke away from the kiss and rested his forehead against hers. "Give me this, Sonya. Just once, give me this." He gasped quietly, ignoring the pleading tone that slipped into his voice before ducking back down to capture her lips again.

Feeling embarassed beyond belief, Sonya tightened her arm around his neck, drawing the red head closer to her as she finally responded to his lips, moving her own against his shyly while they coaxed her's open gently to give his tongue room to slip past and touch against hers lightly. Swallowing back her gasp, Sonya wrapped her other arm around his neck as well, one hand reaching up to grip at his hair tightly, pulling him closer to her in the process, her own tongue reaching out towards his in response. A faint thought skittered across her mind as she pulled him closer to her, her body almost molding against his while she did. While hot and rather enticing, the kiss he was giving her was almost sad... Maybe a touch desperate even, she could taste the tears that didn't fall on his tongue. She could smell them almost, yes, this was his goodbye to her. He knew nothing would happen between them besides friendhip, and he was giving himself this one moment to enjoy before loosing it forever. Dimly she wondered if kissing Hiei would be this... Erotic. He wasn't touching anywhere besides the back of her head and her hip, but damn, he knew how to use that mouth of his.

Before she could begin to dwell on thoughts of what other things that mouth could do, he pulled away from her, his green eyes locked onto her blue ones in warning when she tried to move forward mindlessly towards his lips again. "Ah..." She sighed, slumping back against the tree, her breathing a bit rough from what she just experienced. Glancing over at Kurama, she smirked at him adjusting his hair and looking anywhere but her as he let out a long, slow breath of his own. "Well, not bad for just a kiss." She finally quipped, earning a wry smile from him when he finally looked over at her.

"I'm sure I won't forget it either." He murmured, lost in thought. "We had best return to the temple. I'm sure the others are waiting for us." He turned around and glanced over his shoulder at her, waiting until she fell into step beside him. 'By others I'm sure he means Hiei.' Sonya sighed to herself, glancing out of the corner of her eyes up at him with a slight frown. He looked his usual composed self, not a single thing to tell what had happened between the two of them. Not even the touch of sadness she knew she spotted in his eyes when he pulled away, nothing but his usual, gentle smile and composed expression. Sometimes she wondered if he was the one with ice inside of him instead of her.

Even the air between them felt cold. Cold, and empty.
