Chapter Three

Elsa POV

Elsa couldn't remember the last time she had been so happy. It had to have been before she had hit Anna when they were children. Elsa was happy, and she was also incredibly lucky. She had a family who was just like her, all three of them different in the best ways. With their new addition, Emma Kathrine, it was like a whole new world of magic. She adored the little girl more than anything, especially after Emma had told her and Jack about what happened to her.

*Flashback*

Emma giggled as Jack flew her carefully around the palace. Elsa stood on the balcony, watching the two with a smile. Jack landed, and Emma beamed at Elsa as she was placed on the ground.

"That was so much fun!" the little girl squealed, making Jack chuckle.

"Emma, I was hoping that I could as you a question." Elsa said, sitting down on the ground. Emma sat down beside her, looking up with bright eyes. "Why were you all alone in the forest when Jack found you?" Emma suddenly looked away, curling in on herself. Elsa and Jack looked at one another. They were not expecting that reaction out of the child.

"Emma, we're not upset. We want to know why you were alone. It's not safe in the forest, especially with spirits like Pitch around." Jack said, sitting down on Emma's other side. Elsa shifted Emma so that her back was to Elsa. She formed a brush in her hand of ice and snow and began to brush through Emma's hair. The little girl began to relax, and leaned back against Elsa.

"My mother and father called me a witch, and the people from my village called me a monster and a freak because I had powers. I didn't have any friends because of Mother and Father." Emma said, her voice quiet. Elsa paused at Emma's words, feeling tears fill her eyes. Jack held his staff tightly in his hands, the wood glowing blue. Emma, noticing their reactions, stopped, looking down.

"It's alright, little one." Elsa said gently, running her fingers through Emma's hair as she pulled it back to braid it.

"I ran away from home, and I fell asleep in the forest. I fell asleep in a cave, and I was woken up by somebody named Bunnymund. He became my friend, and he stayed with me for a little while. Then he left, and I was alone again." Emma finished, and Jack stared at her.

"Bunny was your friend?" he asked, and Emma nodded. Elsa looked at Jack with wide eyes, and Jack sighed heavily. "I'm glad Pitch didn't know. And I'm glad I got to you in time, snowflake." Emma smiled up at Jack, and he grinned back at her as Elsa finished the braid.

"You don't have to worry about your mother and father anymore, Emma. You're not going back to them." The blonde woman said, pulling Emma into her lap. The little girl turned, putting her arms around Elsa's neck. "They just didn't know how special you are."

*Flashback Ends*

Elsa smiled to herself as she looked over her balcony, seeing Jack and Emma playing in the snow in front of the castle, Emma's giggles drifting upwards as Jack sent a flurry of snowflakes her way. Elsa's life was soaring, and it was incredible. She wasn't alone in the castle anymore, which came in handy during days when Jack had to leave to spread winter in other places. That was the only downside of being in love with the Spirit of Winter. Before, Elsa would have had nothing to do around the castle besides practicing her powers. Now she had Emma, and the two helping each other control their powers. The small girl reminded Elsa of herself when she was younger, scared and afraid of her own powers after hurting Anna. Elsa turned from the balcony, spotting the bags in the doorway. Her smile faded as she remembered what day it was. She picked up her bags reluctantly, walking down the stairs. The main door was open, so Jack and Emma were in clear view from the entryway.

"Jack? Em? Can you come down for a second?" she asked from her position at the foot of the stairs. Emma's giggles came closer, and the little girl ran into the castle with Jack flying after her.

"Mama!" Emma squealed as she ran to Elsa, jumping into her arms. The four-year old had taken to thinking of Jack and Elsa as her new parents and had begun to call them as such. Elsa remembered when Emma had first called her 'Mama'.

*Flashback*

It was four days after Emma had entered their lives. After sharing hot chocolate and one of Jack's stories, the trio had gone to bed. Emma's bedroom was between those of Elsa and Jack, tucked in the back of the castle. It was late at night when Elsa had awoken to a scream coming from Emma's room.

"Leave me alone!" the little girl had cried. Elsa jumped to her feet, throwing a robe over her nightgown as she darted out of her room. Jack met her outside Emma's room, and the two ran in, seeing Emma sitting on her bed with tears running down her cheeks. Elsa rushed forward, sitting beside Emma and pulling her into her arms. Emma clung to Elsa, sobbing into her neck. Elsa combed her fingers through her hair, humming softly.

"What happened, snowflake?" Jack asked, sitting beside Elsa and putting a hand on Emma's back.

"Mother and Father wanted me to come back. They came with fire, and they melted the castle. Marshmallow was gone, and you both were trapped in the castle with Bunny." Emma cried, her tiny body trembling. Jack rubbed soothing circles on her back, and Elsa kissed her head.

"No one's coming to take you away, Emma. We promise." She said softly, and Emma snuggled closer to Elsa.

"Okay, Mama. Will you and Papa stay until I fall asleep?" the little girl asked in a quiet, tired voice. It took Jack and Elsa a moment as they looked at Emma, then looked at one another in shock. Jack's face split into a wide grin, and Elsa felt tears fill her eyes.

"Of course we will, snowflake." Jack replied, putting his other arm around Elsa and pulling her close.

*Flashback Ends*

Jack landed on the ground, and he spotted the bags at Elsa's feet. The smile on his face faded and understanding appeared in his eyes.

"It's time for you to go back." He said, and Elsa nodded, looking down.

"Where are you going, Mama?" Emma asked, looking up between the two. Elsa knelt down, taking Emma's hands.

"I have to go back to my kingdom, Arendelle. I was given two weeks of vacation, and it's time for me to go back to be a queen again. I am sorry, sweetheart." Elsa said, tears appearing in her eyes as Emma looked between her and Jack, confusion still evident in her eyes.

"Why can't we come with you?" she asked, looking back at Elsa hopefully. Elsa looked at the small girl with a little smile, and she brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"I don't want you to get hurt, Emmy. I wouldn't be able to handle it." she replied, looking into Emma's eyes, ice-blue meeting sky-blue. Jack walked over to the two and put his hands on their shoulders. Elsa looked up at him to see his characteristic grin on his face.

"I know you're scared, Elsa. I'm nervous to, but you have to remember who we are, and what we've been through. We'll be okay." he said, placing his hand on top of Elsa's. Elsa looked at Jack and slowly nodded, a small smile appearing on her face. Emma squealed happily, and began bouncing up and down, making Jack and Elsa laugh. A few moments later, the family flew out of the castle, Emma on Jack's back, and Elsa holding tight to Jack's hand. They reached Arendelle, and Emma looked around in delight at the castle. The three landed in front of the gates, startling the guards .

"Welcome back, Queen Elsa." the guard said, bowing. He was eyeing Jack and Emma suspiciously, as was the other guard. Elsa nodded at them both, tugging Jack's hand.

"Thank you. Is my sister inside today?" she asked. The guards nodded and opened the gates. Elsa, Jack and Emma walked through the gates into the castle.

"Mama, this is even bigger than your castle!" Emma said excitedly, twirling around. Elsa smiled fondly, especially as they walked through the ballroom. She could almost envision herself and Anna playing in the snow for hours instead of sleeping. The three left the ballroom and walked down a hall, where a large painting was hung, covered with a black cloth. Elsa stopped at this, walking over to it. She lifted up the cloth to reveal a painting of two people, both with brown hair, and warm brown eyes. They were smiling softly, and the woman in the painting looked just like Elsa.

"Who are these people?" Emma asked Elsa, taking her hand. Elsa looked down at the little girl.

"They're my parents. They died few years ago." she said softly. Jack put his hand on her shoulder and gently steered her away from the painting. Elsa took a deep breath and kept walking, squeezing Emma's hand tightly. When the family reached the courtyard, they were greeted with a loud scream.

"ELSA!" Anna cried, running to her sister and tackling her in a tight hug. Kristoff walked up behind her, laughing slightly. He was followed by Sven and Olaf, the snowman giggling happily. Elsa struggled to get back up as she hugged her sister back.

"Anna, I can't breathe." she said, gently pushing her sister off of her chest. Jack stepped forward and helped Elsa up, hiding his own laughter. Elsa smiled at him, which did not go unnoticed by her sister.

"Who's this? What's his name? How did you two meet?" Anna asked, barraging her sister with questions. Elsa held up a hand to stop her, shaking her head fondly.

"His name is Jack Frost. I met him two weeks ago when I first arrived at the castle, but technically we've known each other since I was little." She said with a proud smile. Jack laughed at Anna's expression, the younger princess staring at her sister with wide eyes. Emma stepped forward slowly, looking up at Anna shyly.

"Who's this, Mama?" she asked. Anna looked at Emma and smiled so widely that she seemed to split her face in two.

"Oh my gosh, this is the cutest little girl I have ever seen! What's your name, cutie?" Anna asked, kneeling to Emma's height. Emma looked at Jack and Elsa, who were holding hands. They both nodded and Emma turned to Anna.

"My name is Emma Kathrine Frost. I have ice powers like Mama and Papa." she replied, opening her hand and showing Anna her snowflakes. Anna gasped and looked at Elsa and Jack, who smiled at Anna and held his own hand out. Snow danced all around the courtyard, covering them in a light snowfall. Elsa giggled at her sister's expression, leaning back against Jack.

"They're like you?" Kristoff asked. Elsa nodded happily.

"They're my new family. We're the Ice Family." She told them. Olaf waddled up to Jack and Emma.

"Hi! I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs!" he said, opening his arms. Jack jumped into the air, letting out a shout of surprise while Emma just laughed delightedly and hugged the snowman.

"A talking snowman? I thought you were joking when you told us about him! " Jack exclaimed, looking at Elsa with wide eyes. Elsa was covering her mouth, her shoulders shaking as she laughed harder than she ever had before. Anna stared at the man in the air, her own eyes as wide as saucers.

"How in the name of all that's holy are you flying?" she asked Jack. The spirit slowly descended to stand back on the ground and he looked at Elsa as Emma took his hand.

"It's a long story."
