Cam P.O.V.
Even though I had mastered my powers before banishment, I still had to practice due to the lack of mental concentration. Levitation took tons of focus and knowing exactly what you wanted to happen. The easiest way to tell if you have the capacity of a novice was keeping a ball of water up for a little bit being careful to make sure not a drop falls. I decided it would be best to practice levitating it over my head so I could make sure that absolutely none dropped. I started out with a small sphere the size of my fist, then steadily added water from the small stream I was practicing by untill it was the size of a basket ball. I breathed in and out as I tried to focus on keeping it there. I felt one drop and then the rest of it as my tail appeared.
I lost my balance when my legs disappeared from beneath me, magically fusing together leaving behind a shimmering white tail. The average merperson's tail was a gleaming gold with the scales uniformly cut off an inch before the navel, whereas an albino's scales are a bit more gradual. The albino trait which is hereditary is cause for my long life and royal status. Albino merpeople live tenfold that of a normal merperson which is why they naturally became the royal family; if a ruler was wise they would have a long reign of prosperity, if they were not they would be deposed. As it is i probably only have a century left. Most of my life had been wasted as a land boy.
Being away from merpeople for centuries I sometimes forgot I was anything more than a land boy. One of my life cycles I had completely forgotten and had lived happily until my eighteenth birthday when the curse 'reset' my age. But those two decades of ignorance couldn't compare to what I was feeling of being where I belonged, in the ocean. Unfortunately I still have to be careful not to be seen, in which case I need to make preparations.
I went down to the land entrance of the moon pool, slipping in the slide like hole. It was dusty and hard to breathe in the small cavern that lead to the pool. A thousand years ago this tunnel would have been cleaned everyday and decorated with seashells from the furthest depths of the ocean. A mermaid or merman would walk through with pride to their coming of age ceremony, the day they earned their moon stone. For the royal family, the lunar Gem (It had been called such for a hundred years before my time, as to our beliefs.) was the place of your coronation, or if you were like me, your complete and utter disappointment. I just stood there staring at the pool thinking about the day I was passed over as heir and the Amulet was given to Luna. I was pulled from my thoughts when my cell phone rang, the name read 'Zac'.
"Hello?" I said into the small phone.
"Cam where are you? I tried calling your home phone and your parents said you weren't home, David says he hasn't seen you either." Zac said in a worried and slightly suspicious tone.
"I'm just visiting my old home, your acting as if I've been gone for more then three hours." I said in a defensive tone hoping it had the desired impact.
Zac was too easy to manipulate, but it didn't mean I didn't see him as a friend, I just wish he'd get off my back when he thought I was hiding something. Even though I am... still it is none of his business. If he found out we would probably have a falling out. some great friendship we have. I thought about how the others would take it, even if I lived quietly and didn't destroy the moon pool if they knew they would view me as a villain. Nixie wouldn't, my friend of 15 years would, but Nixie wouldn't.
"Sorry, I know, it's just Lyla, Sirena, Rita and Nixie are debating what happened and you were nowhere to be found, it's not a very strong case." He had lightened his tone to apologetic instead of accusatory.
"I can't exactly be there while they debate what to do with me, my opinion might be a bit biased." I smiled a little as the banter came easily. "Plus I think they'd find it a little fishy me being there."
I could hear Zac laughing on the other end, but trying desperately to conceal it.
"I catch your drift, talk to you later."
Zac hung up and I knew that I would have to work fast, even though they would probably be debating for hours. I moved into the second of the two chambers and moved towards the pool, quickly diving in and reaching the bottom. the moon stone's given to young mermaids/mermen were always taken from the wall, I was the only who knew the rock at the bottom of the pool carried property's unique to the special stone. For one it's power was multiplied by practically a hundred and secondly being submerged made it inhibit the involuntary transformation when a merperson got wet. Made into a piece of jewelry it would allow me to control the transformation, to fool them into thinking I was still a weak land boy, this rock was the first step in my plan.
AN: Sorry it took so long, i hope you like it.
Edit (08/06/16): I added a lot...
