My Slaves

Atemu was standing outside of his room, leaning against the wall across from his bedroom door with a confused expression as he pondered why Isis had kicked him out.

'What is going on that Isis kicked me out so suddenly? I wonder if it has something to do with their protectiveness and unwillingness to talk about their pasts," Atemu thought.

He jumped when he heard a loud shout of 'no'.

He ran into the room, seeing Yami run between one of his walls and his cupboard where Isis couldn't reach him.

"What is going on here?" Atemu asked as he came closer to his slave that was hiding.

"I finished the physical on Yugi and then said it was Yami's turn. He refused to let me conduct it so I said that he promised you that he would allow me to conduct the physical. Yami shouted 'NO' and then ran into there," Isis explained.

Atemu sighed. "You promised me, Yami. Serenity has to go now," Atemu said.

"NO!" Yugi shouted, wrapping his arms around Serenity in a tight, protective hug. "SHE CAN'T GO!"

Atemu sighed and rubbed his temples. 'This is going to be a very long day,' Atemu thought tiredly.

"Please let Isis check you over, Yami," Atemu pleaded, walking over so that he could peek through the gap to look at Yami.

"No," Yami replied quietly, Atemu barely hearing him.

"Leave him be. I recommend that you conduct the physical later," Serenity said.

Atemu didn't bother turning around. "No. Come out. Now," Atemu growled, reaching in to grab Yami.

"Leave him alone!" Yugi shouted, moving over to grab Atemu and pull him away from his friend.

Atemu reacted out of reflex and swung his arm that Yugi was holding back, sending Yugi flying across the room.

"YUGI!" Yami shouted, quickly leaving his hiding place.

Atemu spun around, eyes wide in shock of what he had done.

Yami ran over to an unconscious Yugi, holding him close to him.

Isis was about to come near them but Serenity stood between her and the two pale boys.

"Take a step closer and you will be in serious trouble," Serenity growled with a strange glow in her eyes.

Both Isis's and Atemu's eyes widened; when they saw Yami's hand glow over Yugi's head, neither having seen something like this before.

Isis frowned. "Their bond is very strong because they are close to one another. When they are in close proximity to one another their magic binds together. If something happens to one, the other two gains the third persons magic. One tries to heal the injured one while the other person protects the two of them," Isis said to Atemu, her millennium necklace glowing and explaining to her what is happening.

Atemu nodded. "What the hell do we do now?" Atemu asked, feeling a headache forming.

"We leave them be. Don't pressure Yami to have a physical done or something much worse may happen. Who knows how many more of their friends are here without us knowing," Isis replied.

Atemu nodded. "Okay. You can go, then," Atemu said.

Isis nodded. "Goodnight, my Pharaoh," Isis said, bowing to her king before she left the room and headed to her own chambers where her lover would be waiting for her.

Atemu sighed and sat on his bed, quietly watching Yami concentrate on healing young Yugi.

About five minutes after the accident the glowing disappeared from Serenity's eyes, the young girl gripping her head.

"I hate when that happens," Serenity groaned, a headache forming as an aftermath of the magic infusion.

"Go get some rest," Yami said, holding Yugi close and stroking his hair with the hand that had been glowing.

Serenity smiled. "Goodnight, Yami," Serenity said before she left, forgetting to bow down to Atemu.

"Yami-" Atemu started, freezing when Yami sent him to coldest glare he had ever seen.

It was even colder than his death glare that could make a grown man break down and cry like a baby.

"You expect me to trust you and you did this to Yugi," Yami growled.

"I didn't mean it," Atemu said, sighing since he knew that he would have even more difficulty gaining Yami's trust. "It was a reflex," Atemu added.

Yami rolled his eyes and picked Yugi up bridal style, carrying him over to the other side of the bed to where Atemu was sitting.

"Can I ask you something?" Atemu asked.

"What?" Yami growled, gently lying Yugi on the bed and tucking him in.

"Why are you so protective of Yugi and vice versa?" Atemu asked.

Yami sighed and gently stroked Yugi's hair. "We have been together since our home was destroyed and we were turned into slaves and made partners in the mines. Yugi was a very ill boy when he was younger so I became his protector. Our masters quickly discovered that they could use this to their advantage and would punish the other person for our mistakes," Yami replied sadly.

"You worked in the mines?" Atemu asked in surprise.

"Seriously. THAT is what you focus on," Yami muttered before he sighed and said much louder, "For about a year before the slave mines was closed and we were sold once again."

"What did you mean by you were punished for the other persons mistakes? What did they do to you?" Atemu asked, suddenly jumping topics as his mind thought back on Yami's original reply to his first question.

Yami sighed. "Why are you asking so many questions?" Yami asked. "Most people ask Yugi."

"Yugi refuses to tell me and keeps threatening me for asking about your pasts," Atemu replied with a blush.

Yami chuckled before he sighed again. "They found that we were more responsive to being 'reprimanded' when the other was being hurt for our own mistakes. They would beat us, whip us or… worse…" Yami said, trailing off.

"Worse? … Oh," Atemu said, his eyes widening when it clicked in his head. "You or Yugi?" Atemu asked.

"Both," Yami replied.

Atemu suddenly understood everything up to this point. "You said Yugi was sick when younger, right?" Atemu asked, wanting to know more but not on the punishment the two retrieved.

Yami nodded. "He had some form of autoimmune issue and he was very susceptible to all infections and viruses. The constant illnesses made him weak and not as physically capable of others around him. It also made him a little shorter than most people his age," Yami said.

Atemu nodded. "How old are you two?" Atemu asked.

"I'm fourteen and Yugi is sixteen," Yami replied.

"You're FOURTEEN?!" Atemu exclaimed.

Yami nodded. "Is that so surprising?" Yami asked.

Atemu blushed darkly. "You just seem more mature than Yugi and generally older. I can't explain it," Atemu said.

Yami smiled and chuckled. "I actually hear that a lot," Yami said.

Atemu frowned, Yami standing beside the bed starting to bug him a little. "Are you unable to sit down?" Atemu asked.

Yami gulped and turned away, shaking his head slightly.

Atemu thought back on the day and noticed that Yami had been sitting weirdly the whole day, the young slave making sure to keep the smallest amount of pressure he could on his bottom when he couldn't have any pressure on his butt.

"How long ago was the last time?" Atemu asked.

"A few days ago," Yami said.

Atemu nodded. "Do you want to lie down? I promise you that I won't try anything," Atemu said.

Yami looked a little uncertain; before he nodded, climbing into the bed beside Yugi and snuggled into the warm blanket.

Atemu smiled as he watched Yugi snuggle into Yami's chest and rest his head on Yami's chest.

Yami turned to look up at Atemu. "Promise me that you won't hurt Yugi while I sleep?" Yami asked.

Atemu smiled. "I promise. I will do anything I can to protect him," Atemu said.

Yami looked thoughtful. "I will let down my guard a little more around you if you let me, Serenity and Yugi go home. I don't care if you come with us, Yugi and Serenity really miss home," Yami said.

Atemu narrowed his eyes as he thought about it. 'Should I do this? On one hand, Yami will relax a little more around me but on the other hand, the two will know the area better and may try to run away,' Atemu thought.

"Let me think about it," Atemu said.

Yami nodded. "Alright," Yami said, turning away and snuggling into the bed so that he could drift off to sleep with Yugi still snuggled safely against him.

Atemu sighed and laid down in his bed, pulling the blankets over himself as he thought about what his answer should be.
