Milori breathed in the cool air and a smile came across his face. "Finally!" He thought. Finally, he was free of his cast, and there was only a cloth wrap around it. Which was definitely better than the cast, and now he was on the mainland, bringing winter to the people.

First, he had to do a favor, upon Tinkerbell's request. That was to get the snow off Lizzie's summer home. Milori sat on his hovering owl as he watched the other owls get into position. "On three!" he called out, "1... 2... 3!"

The owls glided down the roof as they pushed the snow off the roof. Huge clumps piled on the ground. The roof now only had a few specs of snow left, but that didn't matter. "Periwinkle!" Milori called out. Tink's sister and her friends came flying up and began to inspect the roof. "Any damages?"

"All clear!" the five fairies shouted in unison.

"Excellent! Sled how is everyone else doing?"

The sparrowman came forward and the others went back to having their fun. "The hibernating animals are all asleep! The plants are all covered in frost, and town has a full layer of know across it!"

"Perfect!"

"Is there anything else we can help you with?"

"Nope, not that I can think of. Thanks to you and the rest of the fairies, everything is in absolute order and all of our duties are done, even Tinkerbell's request."

"Alright then, let me know if you need anything!" Sled then left to join in the fun the others were having.

Milori was content at this moment, but he and his fairies would have no idea about the troubles weighing down on Pixie Hollow at that very second.

The Keeper never went to the mainland, well, at least it was very rare for him to do so. For once though, the Minister of Winter didn't go to the mainland either. She had a very good reason for not though. One of the bunnies was going to have her babies any day now, and Snowflake had to be their to help her through things.

Dewey was there as well documenting things. He was in the process of writing a book on animal pregnancy and birth. So that in case no one knew what to do if this happened again. Plus he just needed something to do since all the other winter fairies were gone.

Queen Clarion was nowhere near where the birth was taking place. The whole situation was making her her oddly nauseous. Usually she would be in the Minister of Winter's place, but today that wasn't going to happen. She assumed that it must have been something she ate, but just hadn't agreed with her too well.

For most of the morning Clarion had been in her study, filling out paperwork instead. It was perfectly quiet, the chair she was sitting in was absolutely comfortable, and the temperature was soothing. Queen Clarion was so at ease that she almost fell asleep a few times. Her eyes snapped open when she suddenly felt like she was being watched. Clarion was the only fairy in the room, other than her own reflection of course in a small mirror on the wall.

After that, she went back to her chambers to get some rest, since obviously she couldn't keep herself awake. Lately, the queen hadn't been getting very much sleep for the past few nights, and so whenever she had the chance, she would rest. Clarion couldn't wait for Milori to return, because maybe then she would get a restful night's sleep.

The fairy slept for maybe half an hour, and when she woke up everything seemed darker, but it was the middle of the afternoon and the sun wouldn't be setting for hours. She sat up and looked over to see that the curtains had been moved and now covered her window. Everything was normal and perfectly in place, except for the curtains of course. Then, Clarion saw that her mirror was nearly black!

When she went to take a closer look, she realized that there was something in the mirror staring back at her, and it definitely wasn't her reflection. A dark figure leaped out and lunged at her. The queen fell to the ground and let out a scream. Next thing she knew, the figure was on top of her and was bringing a knife to her throat. Clarion created a ball of pure light and threw it at the creature. She watched in horror as the knife dropped and the creature fell away. It began to hiss in pain.

Shrieks rang out from outside and Clarion scrambled to the window to see more of the black creatures chasing after her fairies. Then suddenly there was a banging against her door. "Queen Clarion!" the knocking became more persistent, "Help!"

The queen made another ball of light in her hand and inched her way towards the door. She pulled it open and threw the light into the mass of black. Hisses of pain came from the creatures as they dispersed. Clarion's gaze fell to the fairies huddled on the floor. "Get inside!" They all made their way inside and then the door was shut. Clarion turned to see the fairies crying and shaking.

She had to think fast considering there were creatures attacking her fairies and now five of her subjects were now trapped with her in her bedroom. There was another knock on the door, but that turned into a huge thunderous thud instantly, causing her to flinch. Her mind was racing and the likelihood of more of the creatures coming through her mirror was very high, "Into the corner!"

They all sat in the corner, as far as possible from the window and the mirror. Clarion stood in front of them to create a protective barrier. She would be able to fight back with the balls of light, but there was no telling how many of the creatures would come and how long she would be able to last against them.
