I dont own anything
The Birth
Booth sits back in his office chair, placing his hands behind his head and closing his eyes, as he thinks about the lead suspect in his latest case. He knows with is gut that it's this guy, but he has to rely on the squints to get him his proof. He hears his door open and close and smiles in happy surprise at the sight of his pregnant girlfriend.
"Hey, Bones, what you doing here?" he says as he gets up. "You're supposed to be on maternity leave."
"I got bored, so thought I would come see my baby daddy," she says, smiling into their kiss as he places his hand on her abdomen.
"Bones, you need to stop watching BET," Booth chuckles, taking advantage of the closed blinds to kiss her neck.
"I got that from Angela and what's wrong with BET?" she says defensively. "They show good music and the shows are very interesting."
"Nevermind. Can I talk to my daughter?" he asks hopefully, smiling his charm smile.
"If you must," she says, smiling because no matter what she says, she adores how loving he is to their unborn child.
With a boyish grin he kneels down, placing his face against her stomach. Brennan looks down at him and chuckles, placing her hands on his shoulders.
"Hey there, how are you doing today?" Booth says, kissing her belly button. "Have you been Mommy a hard time? I hope not, cause you know she's an amazing person but she works too hard, so she needs her rest."
"Booth, I do not work too hard," Brennan protests.
"Shh, we're talking," Booth smiles at her before turning back to her stomach.
"You're talking, she's listening," Brennan cant stop herself from pointing out. A pain shoots through her and she blinks, holding her breath.
"Whoa, Bones, did you see that!" Booth says excitedly, backing away from her swelled abdomen where a small foot pressed out against where his head previously was.
"No, but I felt it," Bones grumbles, a grimace on her face.
Booth notices her extra discomfort and stands up, cupping her elbows. "Hey, Bones, what's wrong?"
"Nothings wrong. At least I don't believe there is," Brennan says, her soft smile tinged with wonder and trepidation.
"I don't get it," he says, shaking his head. His heart rate spikes as her face turns to shock and she looks down. "Bones-"
"My water just broke," she says, looking up at him.
"But-but we're in my office," he says lamely, frozen in place by shock.
"Booth," she says in irritation, bending over as a contraction hits her.
Seeing her in pain snaps him into motion and he quickly runs his hands soothingly around her back. At that precise moment, Sweets walks in, excitement in his eyes at the breakthrough he thinks he has made in the case.
"Booth, this guy is wicked smart, but he's- what's going on?" he stops, panic in his voice at Booth's worry and Brennan's pain filled expression.
"My water broke," Brennan says, gasping slightly after her contraction.
"What?" Sweets' eyes are bulging from his face. "Oh my god. Wh-what…do you-do you need anything? Or-I- oh man. Wow."
"Sweets, calm down," Booth commands, Sweets panic easing his own.
"Right, sorry," he says, taking a deep breath, though his eyes remain wide.
"Bones and I are going to the hospital, inform Hacker so he can get Perotta to cover the case," Booth says, guiding Brennan out of the office. "Call the squints, tell them what's up."
"But tell them that they should continue to work the case," Brennan adds, one hand holding her stomach. "First time mothers usually take hours to deliver so there is no reason for them to stop working just to wait in the hospital."
"Right, inform the deputy director and call Cam, got it," Sweets says in a serious voice.
"Oh, and get housekeeping to clean Booth's office," Brennan tosses out just as the elevator doors close.
"yeah, that's gross," Sweets mumbles.
"Booth I am not in any danger so will you please turn off that damn siren!" Brennan snaps as they drive to the hospital.
"I'm sorry, Bones, but I don't want to take any chances," he glances worriedly at her as he drives. "How are you feeling?"
"Like I'm about to push a seven pound baby out of my vagina," she says, gasping as another contraction hits her.
"Hang on, baby," he says in as soothing a voice as he can manage, not daring to take his hand off the wheel at such a high speed.
They quickly reach the hospital, Brennan's contractions now only a mere two minutes apart. Booth is all but carrying her in to the emergency room, his face white with concern, having never seeing his partner is so much pain before.
In a blur, the staff registers Brennan and wheels her to a private room in Labor and Delivery. Booth sits and holds her hand as she squeezes her eyes shut through the pain, his heart racing at the thought that it is finally here, he is finally going to hold his daughter.
"Oh God, Booth, I changed my mind," Brennan says close to tears. "I want an epidural."
"I'm sorry, baby," he apologizes, kissing her forehead. "But the doctor said it was too late for that."
"Why am I progressing so quickly? It should take longer, especially at my age," she wonders out loud, gasping as yet another wave of pain rolls over her, her contractions now right on top of each other.
"Hello again, Temperance," say the doctor as she reenters the room. "I'm going to take a look, see how you're doing ok?"
"You have quite a crowd in the waiting room," says their main nurse as the doctor checks Brennan's dilation.
"I-I told th-them to stay…at w-work," Brennan gasps, gripping Booth's hand almost hard enough to break bone, though his face doesn't twitch as he is too focused on her.
"Angela and Hodgins showed up a little while ago, when I was calling Rebecca," Booth explains, wiping her hair back from her face. "Apparently Angela went slave driver on the rest of the team until they solved the case."
"I-I d-don't…" Brennan tries to grit out, but gives up to moan instead.
"Okay, Temperance, it's time," the doctor says as the rest of the medical team move about to set everything up. "On the next contraction you're going to push."
"Oh god, ok. Here we go Bones," Booth says, a small smile playing around his mouth as he and the nurse grab one of her legs each.
"We?" she says, taking deep breaths. Booth chuckles, kissing her head as the doctor moves into position.
"Okay, now push," she says, bending down.
Brennan bears down, her face turning pink with the exertion, gripping Booth's hand in a vice like grip.
"4,3,2,1" counts the nurse. "Okay, rest. You're doing great Temperance."
"Come on Bones, a few more pushes and we'll have a daughter," Booth encourages her.
"Okay, again Temperance, push."
"Oh," Brennan moans in pain through gritted teeth.
"8,7,6."
"You're doing great, Bones," Booth says, his heart and breaths coming fast in excitement.
"3,2,1. Rest. One more push should do it," the doctor says, her eyes smiling at the couple.
"I cant," Brennan cries. "Booth I cant."
"Yes you can," he assures her. "I'm right here, I got you. You can do this."
"Okay, one big push."
"Oh GOD!" Brennan grunts out, pushing with all her might, lying back in exhaustion as the baby is finally out.
Still holding her hand, Booth looks down at his newborn daughter, tears falling down his cheeks. His breath clogs his lungs and he isn't aware of the huge smile on his face.
"Look, look what we did," he says as the doctor places the baby girl on Brennan's chest.
"Oh," Brennan says in wonder, tears streaming down her face.
"Thank you," Booth chokes out, kissing Brennan on the forehead. "I love you so much."
"Stay with her," Brennan tells him as the nurse takes the newborn.
He follows, hovering around the nurses and taking pictures from the camera that was packed in Brennan's bag. He ignores the 'natural' horrors of what is happening to Brennan behind him and instead concentrates on the screaming miracle that is his daughter. He smiles, not caring about his tears. He has a daughter, a precious, tiny baby girl. He watches as she is measured and weighed, smiling proudly when she is declared a healthy 19-inch, 7-lb. 2-oz baby girl.
"Here you go," the smiling nurse says, handing him the pink bundle.
He laughs as he looks down at the scrunched red face, his heart swelling with love for this person that he helped create. He walks her over to Brennan, never taking is eyes off of his little angel even as he hands her to her mother.
"She's so beautiful," Brennan whispers, smiling as only a new mother can. "I know that it's an irrational statement brought on by hormones but…she's perfect."
Booth can only nod his agreement, gazing at the two most important women in his life, not noticing the room emptying. He mentally says a prayer of thanks that his baby girl was born so perfect, that he and his Bones were given a chance to be this happy, together. To him, this moment is perfect.
"We never agreed on a name," Brennan reminds him, tracing a finger down her daughter's cheek.
"Christine," Booth says with confidence. "Christine Angela."
She looks up at him and smiles, her love for him shining through her eyes.
"Yes," she nods, looking back down at the now sleeping baby. "Christine Angela Booth."
"I thought you wanted to hyphenate?" Booth asks in wonder.
"No, she's your daughter, you both deserve to have the same last name," she says seriously, leaning into him as he wraps his arm around her.
"Thank you," he whispers, leaning his head against hers. "I love you Temperance."
"I love you too, Seeley," she returns in one of the rare times she ever uses his given name. " And I love our daughter."
"Our daughter," he says, smiling. "Our little Chrissy."
"Chrissy? What is it with you and nicknames?" she teases tiredly.
"It's my thing, Bones," he smiles. "And she likes it. Don't you my little princess Chrissy."
They will argue about it for years, Brennan claiming that it was just a twitch while Booth swears that at the sound of the nickname, the baby opened her blue eyes and smiled.
So I"m just going to say this once (hopefully only once, sometimes if forget) but I have issues. I dont really like my own writing (i dont like my own cooking, that's how messed up i am lol) so i'm always going to think there is something wrong with my stories. so if you read one of them and you think 'that's not all that good', dont worry, i know lol. this is one of those chapters that i feel really 'eh' about but i'm posting it anyway. HOPEFULLY its just me and it's more than 'eh'. okay, i will try very hard not to bring myself down in my AN anymore...no really i promise, i'll try
