Within moments Jack would become fused with the cold concrete below him. His eyes were sealed tight, yelps escaped his throat. He was suddenly faced with every single moment in his life and he was left with heart-wrenching regret.

His body did hit a surface. It took him all of five seconds to realize it wasn't sidewalk. In fact, he was belching out a shriek as he was lifted back into the air. Once he finally landed for good, he opened his eyes and they darted between the trampoline below him and the sidewalk beyond that. His curiosity regarding the trampoline couldn't distract him from the jarring trembles overtaking him body.

"What the hell do you think you were doing?" Atlas screeched, the heart hammering in his chest. Guilt and worry had then brought along fear to the party.

Jack stared up at the sky from where he lay on the trampoline. He was barely breathing, he realized this when he felt a hand gripping his wrist. He could feel his heart beating through his ears and he could have sworn it was attempting to escape his body.

Henley stood behind Daniel, her hand still covering her mouth and her eyes still incredibly large. She had a feeling that she'd still be seeing his body hitting the sidewalk years from now.

The magician screamed something along the lines of what is wrong with you except slightly more colorful. He pulled the boy from the trampoline by his armpits.

"You do realize what could have happened to you right? What was about to happen to you?" Daniel questioned, his voice raising with each word.

Henley grabbed Atlas' arm, instantly pulling him from his rage. He released his hold on Jack and found it difficult to look in Henley's direction.

"What are we gonna do about him?" She asked, her voice a low whisper.

Before Daniel could respond, Jack was sprinting down the sidewalk. The magician cursed as he chased after the boy, Henley on his heel. Pushing past gawking people, Daniel ran as fast as his legs would allow him. He felt as if he'd buckle at any moment but at the sight of Jack he pushed himself even harder. He had finally latched his hand on Jack's sleeve when the boy rammed into a man. Daniel dropped his hand as Jack became as still as a stone.

"Hello Jack," The man sneered, a smirk pulling his lips up. The scent of alcohol began to fester in the air.

"Who are you?" Daniel asked.

"I'm Jack's father," The man replied, the corners of his lips lifting up in a way that reminded Daniel of a puppet.
