I know I haven't updated in ages it's been hard with school and stuff, but I also didn't know what to write for this chapter so I was just sitting there trying to think what I could do and then I thought, why don't I write about how Ky, Boomer, Josh, Aliya etc. are feeling and stuff, so it may or may not be interesting, I don't know.

Monday 20th June; 7:35 pm, The X-Scaper

"D'you think My's okay?" Boomer asked, tapping his foot against the ground. Boomer was a foot-tapper. While I wasn't guilty of that, I was partial for drumming my fingers when I got impatient or worried. Like right now.

I swallowed thickly before answering. "I'm sure she's fine." I could feel my confidence slowly ebbing away. It had been too long. Far too long. Maya should've returned by now. If it wasn't possible, she would've at least attempted to contact us via our X-Coms. Right? Josh punched my arm, hard. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. It hadn't seemed like he'd realised the force he'd used. "Dude! What the hell was that for?" I exclaimed angrily, I didn't think I'd said anything wrong.

"Look! Maya!" Josh said pointing at the top of a cliff. All three of us looked up. Just as Josh said, Maya was right there, standing with her back to an enormous drop. Zane was edging closer; I could almost feel his smug expression. I felt an itching, burning, oh so intense urge to wipe the grin right off his face. No, to completely smash his entire face in. It was like some hideous monster inside me wanted to explode out. He can't touch her. I won't let him touch her. I'll hurt him if he touches her. I'll kill him. I need to protect her. I need to get to her. Maya! Hold on, I'm coming!

We started running to the cliff intending to help Maya, well, after we scaled the bloody enormous cliff, but then, of course, it had to be so far away. Josh was in front; no surprises there, he and Maya were by far the fastest on Team Stax. Now, I cursed my stamina, wishing I had inhuman speed, just wanting desperately to be over by Maya's side and just to protect her from Zane. But she was strong. If I knew anything about her, it was that she was strong. Quick witted, strong, loyal and caring. That was Maya. My Maya. My best friend.

"MAYA!" Josh shouted.

I looked up to see Maya falling. Falling. Down, down, down. So fast, almost a blur. I was still too far away. I couldn't do anything yet. Falling. Why was she falling? Zane was peering over the edge of the cliff, an arm outstretched. My heart skipped a beat. That bastard! He pushed her! I'll kill him. "She jumped!" Josh exclaimed, he sounded quite surprised. My blood ran cold. I admit that I am a daredevil at times, had I rubbed off on her? How could she have done something so stupid? Maya was still falling, back flipping once, twice, three times. If you die, I'm gunna kill you. She was getting closer to the water now, and I watched her curl up into a ball. I held my breath. Any second now, she was going to plunge under the surface. I prayed to God she wouldn't break anything. The force of which she would break the surface would be immense, I knew that much.

I stopped running. She wasn't there. Maya had completely disappeared. I rubbed my eyes and looked again. She was gone. My heart hammered in my chest, urging me forward. I didn't hesitate as I sprinted to catch up with Josh. We reached the waterfall seconds before Boomer. "Maya?!" I yelled. I wasn't rewarded with an answer. I was a little startled about how alike our minds worked, as both myself and Josh missed colliding by mere centimetres as we dove down. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with air before forcing myself under. Everything was crystal clear, enabling to see my surroundings easily. Kicking my legs, I swam lower, my eyes scanning the water for the familiar blue hair.

Josh touched my shoulder. Bubbles escape from his mouth as he signalled to go back up. I nodded in agreement as we powered back, both throwing our heads back to flick the hair off our faces as we allowed ourselves a moment to catch our breath. "She's not there." I said, breathlessly. "How can she disappear like that? She must be here. I don't understand. I don't-" I paused, gathering myself together. "I'm going to check again." Josh followed me down, but after searching thrice more, we still found nothing. Reluctantly, we listened to Boomer and extracted ourselves from the water, staring longingly down, wishing Maya would join us and reveal it all to be one big prank.

She didn't though.

"Let's get back to the X-Scaper. If I use my laptop, I'm pretty sure I can bring up her GPS signal. That'll give us some idea of where she's ended up." Josh said, each word appearing to way heavily on him. We didn't move immediately. All three of us stared, hesitating to move just in case she would magically rise.

It was Boomer that finally broke the spell. "Let's go."

As soon as the X-Scaper touched the ground, Aliya flung open the door in her haste to enter. "Maya! Maya! You've got to see this!" She exclaimed the excitement obvious in her voice. The small girl was practically bouncing up and down with glee, smiling for ear to ear. When her sister didn't come racing out to meet her, Aliya regarded us with a confused expression. "Where's Maya?" She asked, her eyes fixed straight on me. She didn't miss the glances we threw to each other.

Being under such scrutiny, I could feel my cheeks reddening with guilt. I hadn't even thought about Aliya. How the hell are we going to explain this to her? "Aliya, we need to talk to Master Boaddai. Where is he?" She'd find out sooner or later, I knew. But I'd rather not be the bearer of bad news. Seeing her heat drop, the worry, the sadness, the fear, it would break me. Poor Aliya had gone through enough already. Loosing Maya would tip the scales so much, I wasn't sure what would happen.

"He's in his room." She replied, her smile decreasing slightly. "Where's Maya?" She repeated. Josh hurriedly led the way out, me and Boomer followed closely behind. It didn't seem like anyone wanted to tell her. I couldn't blame them. Aliya trailed after us. She was confused. By now, worry was probably starting to sink in. Our actions probably weren't helping her one bit. We raced to the room as quickly as we could. After all, every second we waste Maya could be fighting for her life.

"I hung back once we reached our destination. It was too soon. I had to make sure she wasn't aware that her sister was missing. "Aliya, why don't you go find Aiden? I'm sure he was looking or you. He did say he wanted to practise a little, didn't he?" Aliya frowned at me and opened her mouth to protest. I forced a cheery smile and made a small shoo-ing motion. "Don't keep him waiting." She didn't hesitate after that. Giving me a small wave, she skipped down the corridor, disappearing out of sight. I paused for a moment, to make certain that she wouldn't return, before slipping into the room, closing the door firmly behind me.

Aliya's POV

Ky was acting suspiscious. And it wasn't just him. Both Boomer and Josh looked... guilty? For some reason, they didn't want me hanging around. Not just that, but Maya... Maya didn't come out with them. I stifled a small gasp. "What if she's hurt? Is that why they didn't even want to look at me?" Hesitantly, I peered around the corner. Ky was gone. He must've entered the room already. I took a deep breath to steady myself, building up my courage. She's my sister. I have to find out what's wrong. They can't hide it from me. I won't let them. Quietly, I slunk over to the door, flattering my back against the wall as I crouched, listening intently.

"Aliya?" Busted! I jumped at the voice, spinning around, my face flushed bright red. "What're you doing?" But it was only Aiden standing there with Ekayon by his side. Aiden's arms were folded in a way that was evidently meant to be disapproving, but I spotted the curious glint held in his eyes that seemed far to great for him to dispel. It was insane of me to eavesdrop on something like this, I knew that much. No, scratch that, it was a death wish. Especially after Ky practically escorted me away. But they were hiding something from me. And I was going to find out what. After staring at me for a couple more second, Ekayon simply shrugged, drawing a finger across his mouth in a my lips are sealed manner.

"Something happened on Team Stax's mission." I whispered. I was worrying far too much to keep it in. I wanted Aiden to reassure me, to tell me everything was okay and my sister was going to be fine; what ever had happened to her. Aiden spared the older boy a small glance, before quickly following my lead and creeping closer to the door, kneeling down and listening as carefully as he could. Ekayon rolled his eyes, mouthed something to the sky and in a complete oh, what the hell manner, he joined us.

I noticed he was missing his X-Reader. Either they'd gone to visit the library, or had made a little journey to collect it. Or both, they could've just met in the middle. "… The Kairu was a trap. I'm not sure whether it was one of Lokar's plan to capture Maya, but... I seriously doubt it. In my opinion, Zane just wanted to kick our asses for the fun of it. He seemed pretty angry even before we'd started sassing him, which is unusual. But anyway, Zane went after My. We tried to follow but Techris and Zair blocked our path-" Ky trailed off. It seemed as though his voice had just caught in her throat. If I knew anything, that happened when people were getting emotional. If I knew anything about Ky, he was passionate and cheeky and cheerful, but he never really got too sad or upset about anything...

"Zane had her cornered." Josh continued, after a little pause in which he made certain Ky could not continue. "It seemed like... She didn't have any other option, to her, that is. So, she jumped… off a cliff. As soon as we saw her up there, we started running but she jumped and then as she was falling, she just… disappeared. She was gone. She didn't hit the water. She wasn't there, me and Ky checked. She was just gone."

Ekayon burst into the room. Me and Aiden tried to discretely slip away but Master Boaddai saw us and signalled for us to come in. We're so screwed. "You lost Maya?" He said quietly. Ky nodded morosely. "But- She can't... She can't have just- just disappeared, it doesn't make sense! Why didn't you guys... You should've stayed in the forest. What if... She could've had all three of the Radikor on her and you wouldn't have even known..." Ekayon seemed so... small. He didn't understand. But he was in the same boat as everyone. Nobody could really get to grips with the situation. "Have you checked for her GPS?"

"Yeah. It was the first thing we did." Josh shook his head, closing his eyes for a moment. "I didn't find anything. I'll try again here. That way I can find a way to boost the signal, see if I just missed her the first time." His fists clenched as he glanced at me, the determination evident on his face. "We're going to find here, Aliya. Don't worry. We'll bring her back, I promise." Aiden gave my shoulder a small, comforting squeeze. "And even if we can't... Maya will find a way to return. She's strong. She'll- never leave. Not like this. She loves her family way too much to ever leave them for too long."

I only hoped he was right.

Ekayon's POV

Mumbling under my breath, I paced the length of the room. Admittedly, I'd been doing this for more than an hour already. One would probably think that I'd be real dizzy by now. Surprisingly, I wasn't. I guessed the fear that had consumed me was far too strong for me to really think about anything else. Every now and again, I would pause, throw a big glance around the room- allowing my eyes to linger on Josh who was sat haunched over his laptop, his fingers flying over the keyboard they were almost a blur- sigh loudly and rake my fingers through my hair before continuing with my rapid pacing.

"Crap."

For a second, I froze in my tracks. Then, before I'd even registered the movement, I was leaning over Josh's shoulder, one hand resting on the back of his chair. "What?"

Josh tapped the screen a couple of times. "This," He said quietly. "Is not good." To me, it looked like a scrawl of unimportant numbers surrounding an equally unimportant kind of map. So, I did the only logical thing and slapped him upside the head and promptly threw my hands up into the air, clearly conveying my confusion. "I will pause to say this: Ow. You jerk. Now, thanks to my valuable genius, I've managed to locate Maya's position." He stopped to complete a small bow, before circling the said area with his finger, jabbing the centre to add extra empathises. "The only probably with this is- how do I say it? She's crossed dimensions."

"Which means..." I said, dread welling up in the pit of my stomach.

"She's in a different universe. From what I can see, she's actually fairly close to where we lost her, only in a completely different world- though I'm not sure about which time period she's in. To be honest, where she is, the timeline could be completely different from our own, and I wouldn't even know. There's a pretty big limit to what I can find out. I mean, I don't even know... Whether she's still alive." He could definitely hear to groan of protest the chair gave as my hand tensed. "It's unlikely though. I mean... Well, I don't exactly know... What I do know is, she's going to have to travel through an identical rip in time and space in order to get back home."

Josh yawned and didn't even bother trying to smother it. Lazily, he swiped at his eyes, removing the tears that clung to his eyelashes. "You must be exhausted. You've been up all night trying to find her. Go and get some sleep. After all, you'll never be able to bring her back if you can barely stay awake." Josh gave a small nod of agreement and groaned loudly as he raised to his feet, staggering slightly and grabbing onto me for support. "Sore?" I asked, wincing under his weight. He gritted his teeth and nodded again. Sighing, I helped him limp over to the room he shared with Aiden. Josh collapsed onto his bed as room as he was within the distance to flop down without hurting himself.

I shook my head, feeling a small smile worming its way onto my face. Aiden moaned loudly in his sleep, before lobbing a pillow across the room where it promptly hit Josh in the face, instantly silencing the older boy. He's definitely had practise at that. It puts the saying; so easy I could do it in my sleep, to shame. I almost tripped over the camp bed that had been place in the middle of the room for me and managed to smoother my yelps of pain as I stubbed my toe, bouncing around until I recovered. As I made to return to my bed, I knocked over a picture on the windowsill.

Carefully picking it back up, my eyes involuntarily filled with tears as I straightened it.

It was one of my favourites. Josh and Aliya had walked out of the X-Scaper, the latter in mid-skip, chatting excitedly while Josh's expression was one of pure shock. The reason for this was Ky and Aiden. The two devils were on the roof and had tipped two buckets of water over them, though Aliya's had yet to hit her. Meanwhile me and Maya had snuck up behind them through the hatch, the picture caught the jets of water exploding from our water guns right before the stuck the boy's. Boomer; he was lying on his back clutching his tummy, his face bright red as he laughed his ass off while Issie stood next to him, a hand over her mouth, gasping in surprise. Right after that, a soaked Ky had launched himself at Maya, wrapping her up into a soggy bear hug which did a very good job of restraining her, while Aiden threw the remaining contents of the bucket at them both. Me? I'd dived for cover and took up arms outside the X-Scaper which had prompted the massive water fight that had ensued.

I looked straight at the picture. Maya looked so young and happy, with that smile that lit up the whole room, I couldn't bear the thought of her being out there all alone. Maybe lost. Maybe injured. My heart sunk just thinking about her. "Maya, we miss you. You have to come back soon. Okay?"

Only in the dream that followed did she reply.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter and feel free to review with improvements etc.

I do not own Young Justice or Redakai but I do own Aliya, Issie, Aiden – (They are basically Team Tiro) Josh and the idea for the picture.
