CHAPTER 3

THE VAMPIRE PRINCESS IS BORN

Kenna lay silently in her bed, rubbing her swollen abdomen. Tomorrow is the big day. I wish my papa could be here. At that moment, a bright light filled the room and when it disappeared, a spirit of a tall man was standing in the room. He had jet-black hair, green eyes and a beard. He wore a dark green cloak, yellow shirt, brown pants and black boots.

Tears filled Kenna's eyes as she recognized the man immediately. "Papa!" she cried as he and walked over bending down in front of her. He smiled and smoothed Kenna's hair back with his hands.

"Hello baby-girl." Talon said, smiling as the tears that had gathered in Kenna's eyes flowed down her cheeks. "How is my granddaughter?"

The queen wiped her tears away and responded, "She's doing fine. I wish you could be here for tomorrow..." Her father sighed and hugged his daughter.

"I will be." He held her hand in his as he looked at her with a kind of love only a father would know.

"How will Micheal and I know?" She asked.

Talon smiled and answered, "Close your eyes and listen to the wind. If you listen close enough, you will hear my voice." His form started to fade. "I must go now dear, but know that I love you." Kenna watched as her father's form disappeared from sight.

"Good-bye Papa" she whispered and looked at her abdomen, "I love you."

A calm wind blew through the night air as the vampire queen stood, looking out the window. Suddenly, she felt a very sharp pain in her abdomen and grunted in pain and she fell to the ground on her knees. Micheal walked up and when he saw his mate on the ground with her hand over her abdomen, he ran over to her and lifted her head up towards him.

"My mate, what's wrong?" he asked seeing pain in every line of Kenna's face. "Amirra…Amirra's…Ahhhhh!" she screamed, bending over again. The child is coming. Micheal thought as he helped his queen to her feet and yelled out, "ASUNA."

Asuna came rushing over. "Yes your highness what's…" she looked at Kenna and knew what was going on. She gently lifted the queen into her arms and carried her into a bedroom.

Asuna helped Kenna onto the bed and Micheal sat down beside her. He grabbed Kenna's hand and said, "Kenna, my love, squeeze if you need to." Kenna moved her legs up and Asuna placed a blanket over them. "Ok my lady, now push." Kenna let out an ear-splitting scream and squeezed Micheal's hand as hard as she could.

Kana and Kell heard the scream and ran into the room. Micheal looked at them and mouthed, "She's having the baby." Kenna continued to scream until a tiny cry was heard. Asuna lifted up the tiny baby and looked at the twins. She said to Kana, "Go get a blanket and hurry!" Kana ran out of the room and Asuna motioned for Kell to come over.

The young man cautiously walked over and when he saw the tiny, bloody baby in Asuna's arms and smiled. Asuna said to him, "Kell, hold her for me please. I need to cut the cord." Kell held the baby and noticed she had pink hair and two tiny fangs. He smiled at his niece as Asuna carefully removed the umbilical cord and then took the child into the bathroom and cleaned her up. She walked back into the room and Kana returned with a purple blanket and brought it over to Asuna. She wrapped it around the tiny baby and took her over to Kenna and Micheal.

Micheal helped Kenna sit up as Asuna bent down, smiling. "Here is your new daughter my queen." She said, laying the still crying child in her mother's arms.

Kenna looked down at the newborn vampire and tears of joy filled her eyes. "Hello my little one." she whispered gently. Amirra heard her mother's voice and slowly stopped crying.

Asuna smiled and ushered Kenna's brothers toward the door. "We'll leave you three alone for a while." She said as they walked out and she closed the door.

Micheal smiled and reached over, gently stroking his daughter's face with his finger. "Her skin is so soft, just like her mothers'." He looked at Kenna and she smiled, leaning towards him.

Micheal lifted the infant into his arms and carried her to the window. He looked lovingly onto his newborn daughter and held her close whispering, "Amirra… someday you will grow to become a super powerful vampire just like mommy and daddy, and you will defend the weak and innocent." He kissed her tiny forehead and carried her back to Kenna, laying her in her arms.

Amirra then started to fret and Kenna smiled, unbuttoning her shirt. She lifted the baby up to her chest and said, "Take as much as you want little one. It's all yours." Amirra patted her mother's breast, but could not find what she was searching for. Kenna gently guided her head and the baby found what she wanted and began to suck. The exhausted mother slowly laid back and smiled at her new daughter. "My little Amirra…" she whispered. Amirra finished drinking and Kenna gently lifted her to her shoulder, lightly patting the infant's back. The child let out a tiny burp and Kenna smiled, holding the child in her arms.

Suddenly, the window flew open and a bright glowing orb floated into the room. Micheal wrapped his arms protectively around his mate and child as the orb's glow got brighter. The king and queen watched as it faded and once Micheal saw it was Kenna's father, he relaxed and let go of Kenna and Amirra. Talon beamed with pride as he walked over to his daughter and bent down, looking at his new granddaughter.

"She's beautiful." He said with tears in his eyes. "I'm….I'm a grandfather. I…I can't believe it." He looked at his daughter and son-in-law and said, "I would like to bless her with a single gift." The two parents nodded and Talon reached into his pocket and pulled out a small handful of magical dust. "Sweet little Amirra…my gift to you is the gift of kindness and compassion." He blew the dust onto the child and it disappeared as it touched her body.

"Thank you Papa." Kenna said with tears in her eyes. "I just wish that…" The tears that had gathered in her eyes began to flow down her cheeks as her father sat beside her, wrapping his arms around her.

"I know baby-girl." He whispered. "But she will be able to see me in her dreams." Kenna smiled and Talon stood up. "I must go now. Congratulations to both of you." Kenna and Micheal smiled and Talon placed a hand on the king's shoulder.

"Micheal, the love a father has for his child is unconditional. I pray that you will be as close to Amirra as I am to Kenna." He said and Micheal smiled.

"Thank you." The king said Talon nodded. As he started to fade, he waved goodbye and then disappeared. As Kenna held Amirra close, Micheal thought to himself, I hope the hunters do not find out about this… Little did he know, that right outside the palace, his greatest enemy was spying on them.

Standing just outside on the cobblestone walkway was a tall man wearing a dark cloak. He clenched his fist as he looked up. "The rumors are true…the vermon has given birth…" he whispered to himself. Before he could find out anything else, he heard the sound of a wolf howling. He looked to the side and saw one running at him, fangs bared and snarling. Knowing it was safer to run than be eaten, the man quickly ran into the forest with wolf on his heels, only escaping as he ran deeper into the forest.
