This is a short chapter, I know and I'm sorry.
It had been a week since their last fight, Jared and his group were leaving Karvar alone for now, but he knew that it was only a matter of time before their confidence returned and the cycle started all over. The police were keeping an eye on him when he walked through the town, weary of another fight starting because of his temper.
Karvar didn't get off with a slap on a wrist for what he did though. After his and Tepirrs little brotherly moment, the small boy ended up grounded for a month. Only allowed to leave the house if with Tepirr, Officer Jenny, or if he was running errands for Tepirr, such as buying groceries, and he was to return back the moment he was done.
The boy had also lost all TV, video game, and snack privileges.
The criminal amount of free time he had was torture.
So far he had spent so much time cleaning just to pass the time that the house was practically glowing. The floors had been mopped and scrubbed, the bathroom disinfected, all the stains in the tub had been removed. Even the attic had been cleaned from top to bottom. As a result, the majority of the cleaning solutions in the house were gone.
Tepirr promised to buy some more on his way back home tonight, but with the house perfectly spotless and nothing to clean, well…
Karvar was dying from boredom.
So much so that he was breaking a big rule, a rule that he rarely ever broke, only ever under emergencies. And pure boredom was an emergency.
He was escaping punishment.
Usually if he got in trouble or was given some kind of punishment, Karvar would take it. But this was a dire situation and called for drastic measures.
And in his defense, he was ten years old.
The small Xelson could be found now in the forest beside his town, kicking a pinecone as he walked. There were a few bird Pokémon and bug Pokémon in the trees, watching him curiously, but in the end they paid little attention to him, and he paid little attention to them.
Abandoning the pinecone, he made his way to the river. Maybe he'll skip stones next, maybe he'll swim a little.
"Can't wait until I get some of my things back," Karvar mumbled as he walked, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Then maybe I'll have things to do."
He paused in his walk, something wasn't right.
Standing there, he could see the river just up ahead, and he could hear some sort of crying. Not human crying.
Curiosity picking at his skull, his pace picked up as he walked towards the source of the noise. Was it a Pokemon? It probably was, but why was it making so much noise? Xelson curiosity at it's best right there.
He made it to the river and stared in surprise at the sight he found.
On the ground by the water was an injuried Torchik, it whimpered and chirped, moving a little but staying on the ground.
"Oh God, the hell happened to you?" Karvar mumbled as he slowly walked over to it. He lowered himself to his knees and gently laid his hand over the Pokemon. It cried out some more and he swallowed. It didn't take a genius to figure out that it was hurt.
"What do I do? What do I do?" he mumbled, repeating it in his head. He wasn't a Pokemon nurse or a Professor, he didn't know what to do….unless.
Taking off his jacket and laying the Torchik in it before picking both up, Karvar sprinted back towards the town. Tepirr was either going to kill him or thank him for this. So long as he did something about the Torchik, Karvar didn't care.
