A New Story From Beginning To End

Chapter 4 (Yugi's Beginning)

Scene One Of Nine

The piety teen breathed in the silence of the house; it seemed to be empty for the most part yet there he was, lying in his bed in utter solitude. Someone who fit into the place as though he belonged yet in reality, there was no place that really needed him.

Eyes opened, yet the figure showed no will of movement.

He'd have to get up soon. He always did. Just as the night would come, it was meant for him to wake up every evening in an empty house, all thanks to the Yami and his unnecessary violations.

A solid bitterness salted his taste buds in thick layers, like the ocean slamming into him wave after wave. He remained motionless in his bed for a long moment, thinking of past memories, and incidents that could have been prevented, all the while withering in self-loathing for his helplessness, and cowardice.

Eventually he found it in him, just enough to reluctantly to sit up. Though his unwillingness to do so shown like the sun. He had his evening migraine pounding on his skull and it came onto him full throttle as he breathed light-headedly: the movement of a zephyr on a midnight in spring. Yet he held to that pounding in his pulsing skull like it were life, maybe seeing it as a way to help to hallow himself or the aloneness that speed through him like the headache he was now suffering from. Deafening silence for name, the true meaning he sat, alone in every possible way; his mental state was just as empty as his physical.

Immobile fleetingly, his instincts getting the better of him, an unstable hand reached out, and opened his bedside draw. There was a light rumble of the rummaging of the contents in the draw chiming together like bombs at his fingertips. Crawling and searching, for what was their desire, he coiled his thin fingers to hold a solid grip onto his means of sanity, his item of choice for keeping a grip on cruel actuality.

Fiddling the item between his skilled fingers, his eyes scanned his bleak room, as though to look if it would be okay. The room's walls; which had once been a bleach white had blended much together like an unfocused gaze, a colors simple fuzz, it was somewhat washed out; dulled into one solid mass, like a painting in it's first stages. It had been of little interest, though there is not much differed as to how it is now. Unfortunately that had only been the once, now the white walls were covered with a disconcerting, peeling brown. The shade lined his few pieces of furniture, a simple bed, desk, chair, and dresser, but it spread past even what he owned to the area of the carpets.

He'd never truly be able to rid himself of the stains that littered his room, for this he was certain. Even after he had spent hours scrubbing them until his knuckles whitened, his mind wouldn't let them fade from his turbulent sight; they'd still always be that glowing red. Long ago, he had given in on bleaching them from physical form, a lot of good it would do him. They are seen mostly now to only his convinced eyes, an ever-reminding glow of crimson even though he knew the color had dried and changed or had been stripped from view. That the once strong odder of one's innermost self had already been cleared; yet it would never be any different to him. The red that had come from him under compulsion, and insubordinately for that matter, the red that would continue to fill the empty spaces of his mind, growing to it's fullest as it creeps up the walls, and down his palms.

The ceiling light was on, and it was the only income of light; no window graced the diminutive room with its loved yet longed presents. 'Can I do it this time? Can it actually be done?' his mind wandered aimlessly as the silver object twiddled in his fingers 'Have I even done it before? Maybe I have already succeeded and my entire existence from now to an infinity will be forced upon doing an already completed task, just to torture me; leaving me to repeat a full destiny in ever expanded time?'

He sat eyes cast down, mentally wondering off to the darkness as he rubbed his bulging scars. His once flawlessly porcelain skin up his entire inner arm, and up the full of his legs was now cursed with pink lines that were his only clandestine gloom, though his pale flesh still illuminated a radiant white glow, more silver than white maybe, he wouldn't know, he was unaware of his inner strength at the moment being.

"Can I do it?" he whispered raucously to himself. "I must get up soon, but if I-" he made a silent tremor on the words he couldn't speak in full, "then I wouldn't have to…" mind trailing off in mid sentence he interrupted himself with that same intoxicating silence that he both feared to be without and hated the mocking ringing of. He looked down to his pale wrist where he was marked for life, like a title.

Without complete comprehension he took the blade against his thin wrist, and cut into his skin like it were butter: soft, and mushy. Face grimacing at that first contact, but quickly converting to an almost smile when the familiar sting took affect. For a distinct instant it remained an unblemished surface after taking the dagger away. That was only until the cut evenly filled with blood, then in some places it overflowed into blossoming dots…the salty liquid began to flow in a steady pattern.

Reaching back to where he had retrieved the knife, he got a small clear bottle made of crystal. The top where the opening was, had a little less than an inch tall cylinder shape, it then widened to a large circle at the bottom, which could just manage to fit into the palm of your hand. Oddly figured veins came out and lined it; it was like exact replica of a human heart. Perhaps not…for the cork of the same material, which kept the substance enclosed, had a winged human latched to it. As you unhinged the bottle, the round of the clasp, settled into it's outstretched hands.

It was a creature most hadn't heard of in the land, it was an angle. They are the holy creatures in many of the dangerous religions that are studied by the defiant. The religions of that sort had been against violations since they were found out several eras ago. Now the illegal organizations were being hunted down daily and killed, though for those that knew about them, knew that there were almost as many as the Brujah clan alone.

---The Brujah clan is one of the smallest of The Cammarilla's clans. The Cammarilla's clans contain of; Brujah, Caitiff, Gangrel, Malkavians, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere, and Ventrue. The Brujah clan is the strongest and is normally starting fights, a very uncontrollable clan that normally win the fights they get into, with the person who pissed them off very damaged. There are several groups of vampire clans; each own different areas of land, and in general detest each other. Even with them governing their own landmasses, they all must abide by the Yami. --- (Marik is one of the Brujah in this fic…so think violent people, VIOLENT!!!!! Or maybe I'll put him in the Malkavians clan…that's the insane one…tell me Marik fans, what is it? Insane? Or violent?)

The blood began to run more slowly now; the cuts were beginning to clot making him sigh in annoyance. This happened every time he did this. Looking at the small bottled item in hand, he clenched it into his fist.

The legend was that the angels created vampires for their strength, they were meant to be gods, only the vampires thought that they were soupier to the gods, and because of an ignorant act against the gods that created them, the angels, they were damned to the earth, and the night. But the angles knew in that act, they made the world uneven in light and darkness. So they then created the humans to keep the vampires in check.

Only it hadn't gone as angels planned and as another act against their creator, the vampires enslaved the humans, and never looked for their human counterpart, the one who was their hikari. But because they never looked for their hikaris, the vampires where still in complete darkness, and this ended up leading them to killing their twin soul. Even now, about every decade or so, their hikaris are reborn. For every yami, there is a hikari, as vise versa, like there is always light, there is darkness, like when there is yin, there is yang. There is no way around this. All this he already knew from his illegal studies. Of course, over the years the ledged had gotten so secured up, it didn't even seem like the same story anymore. What he knew was probably as close to truth as it got…

Clenching the bottle in his hand, he popped open the container and looked at the clear liquid. In it was 'holey water'…an item against many violations…one of the many…. When he was younger, before his parents had become of age…they had taught him how to hate vampires with his every being. Though he may have tried, he never actually had been able to cause a vampire real harm, he had trouble just hating them. But as soon as his father hit the age forty, and was killed because he was to old, he had to turn to his mother who died nearly a year ago for the same reasoning. Ever since then, he had been doing everything in his power to hurt vampires, learning all the forebode information, and all else he could manage.

He had learned the art of blessing water solely by his father, and ever since the day of his mother death, he had been making two bottles a day. Had may have actually tried it on a couple of vampires on the way to school once or twice, of course, on a few occasions the police aka, the Rare Hunters, had nearly trapped him.

Staring at the fluid he sighed and tilted the water so that it ran over his exposed flesh for a couple of seconds before recapping it and putting it back into the draw. Then he watched as the water ran down his arm, mixing with his blood. Eventually the bloodied water began to dry and flake off his skin. He had been put into a trance, and sat, without a single movement for almost an hour before he notice that the sun had already gone down.

Blinking a couple of times for recollection of his life he slapped himself in the forehead and cursed under his breath, "Kuso…I'm going to be late now!" Jumping up he grabbed his clothes and ran to the bathroom.

Scene Two Of Nine

Gasping heavily he gave one quick run through his hair with a comb before he darted to the front door in an unsteady dance of footsteps. Snatching up his bag in a rushed panic he scurried out the door, slamming it behind him. There was no way in heaven he'd get there in time if he went his normal rout, never in a vampires life. He'd have to cut through town on the main road, and if he was lucky, not get cough by the Rare Hunters, humans were never allowed to travel the main roads unless accompanied by a vampire. And he wasn't about to let that happen.

'Huffing' loud, strained pants he jumped down the hall to the apartment, and down the steeps three at a time managing to get a distance that normally took him five minuets in a minuet flat, though stumbling in several places. As soon as he touched the soil, he headed off in a sprint to his destination: Main Street.

He'd rather risk getting caught by the Rare Hunters than risk missing the third day blood drawing. Though the thought was tempting, as he would at least then have an excuse for being late. The people who ran the blood drawing business tended to be anything but merciful. If you were even so much as a minuet late, enough so as to miss your deadline they'd hunt you down and have you killed. Several of his pre-school childhood friends had died at all to young of an age for that mistake.

Turning a corner, he saw the street lamps flicker on; he'd have less than ten minuets to make it half way across town. He could make it…he hoped. Swallowing a lump in his throat, he cut across a large field and saw the street coming into view, many already making their way about. Streets were never that teeming, vampires preferred traveling along deserted alleys much to streets.

His throat was beginning to burn, so he suddenly stopped abruptly switching to a casual walk, body throbbing. He really should have run more as a child; it always made him tired now, which really was unfortunate for moments like these.

Steeping into the light of a dark city he managed to keep his pace at somewhat of a jog without having to slow down. Grabbing his backpack from behind him, he opened it and pulled out a binder before throwing it back over his shoulder not bothering the unzipped zipper. Fumbling with several pockets on it, he picked out several small clasps that were unbuckled, and his tag. Quickly he pulled the tag over his head and put a larger buckle loosely around his neck, next the two smaller ones around his now reopened wrists using his mouth to tighten them.

Faltering a couple of steps, but not stopping once he shoved the binder back into his bag and half way zipped it up before returning his gaze to the front. A flash of red blazed before his eyes, and he stopped dead in his tracks. Immobile, as not a breath escaped his parted lips, not a movement of which mussels in the body use, for an entire moment. As though his body had forgotten how to work just for that single second.

'What the hell? Glowing red?' Cocking his head to the side he looked in the direction the crimson had vanished to, and shivered as a strong aura pulsated through him. Turning completely around, he found himself, face to face with a vampire whose aura was far beyond any human or vampire he'd ever seen.

The glowing red rays loomed around him making it look as though the bleeding moon lighted the street. Breath hitching in his throat, he watched as the vampire stared at him attentively, as though he had something important to say; yet they just stood. The vampire was emitting such strong waves upon waves of his aura; a faint feeling filled the boy's body.

---Humans have acquired quite a few vampire senses over the years from crossing breeding humans with vampires. Though some vampires are born of the full vampire blood, a lot become one by being turned. If you are born a vampire, you get more respect than being turned into one, but if you are only half vampire you're treated as a human. Though that doesn't seem logical for the ruler was one that was turned…---

Nothing happened and he knew time was ticking for him. There was a slight pause in which he shifted before speaking, "erm…w-what do you want?" was the only question that rushed through his mind that managed to escape his lips in the time being.

The monstrosity of what some considered human didn't answer, he just stood motionless showing how dead vampires truly are. Blinking at the lack of response, he decided to turn and run in a futile attempt of escape. There was always that possibility that the vampire was of the R.H. or something of that sort, and one thing was clear in his mind, 'don't get caught, no matter what.'

Snapping his body around he became dizzy and saw once again, the dark figure with glowing red eyes, this time mere steeps in front of him, and in his mind that was to close for comfort. Squinting through the darkness, the outline of a man was all he could see. A thin line of indistinctive blurs, and the eyes the color of his insanity. That was never a good combination.

"W-who are you, and what do you want?" was another meek inquiry he pondered aloud.

Deep seductive chuckles emerged from all around, and a single blink allowed the figure chance. In an instant he was no more than an inch away. The human made a small jump as in that single moment he saw each detail etched onto the provoker, like looking into a mirror for the first time. The figure was several feet taller than him self, and had a very slender, yet muscular structure, anything but weak like his own self-image. He didn't seem to be wearing the R.H.'s uniform (Rare Hunters) either…though he did use a cloak similar to that of the R.H…so he assumed he would be a normal class vampire. His eyes were of the deepest red, crimson blood, like his home, that same red. The red of blood stain, desperately looking into the figure that stared down at him, stern and steady like.

"W-who are you?" he squeaked out nervous again, in true wonder.

"That is of no importance…" was his deep, unreal answer.

Shivering, he backed up a number of steps as fast as his shaky legs could take him and kept eye contact with the figure with out a moment's interlude. But for every step he took, the vampire became increasingly petrifying. He was just standing there, most vampires didn't let their pray get more than a foot away, yet he was getting yards. Stopping he remember one of the violations stated that when an un-owned human is faced with a vampire that continued to stalk them, the human must stop and wait for the vampire to do as they pleased as long as it remained in lines of the law.

"Erm…" his dry voice chocked, trying not to provoke the vampire. "I-I need to go to the blood drawing…now…"

"So you do…it is the third day I suppose…but surly if you were a little late…you wouldn't get into that much trouble. Right?"

Standing, he gave no response; maybe he could think of a way to scare him off with a violation or something. Staring at him he tried to think of one might help, but before he could manage his thoughts the vampire began to fade into the darkness, with no trace but the nothingness of the night that engulfed the world completely. The air became dense, and unbearably humid, he could no longer see even a trace of the vampire's bright aura that had given the impression of bleeding from the vampire's specific location, his at one point apparent position; it was truly against the law of conservation of matter. He had just, disappeared.

The next thing he knew, a cold hand rested on his bare upper arm, and a long nail lightly brushed against his chest. The air around him had suddenly turned to a thick eerie atmosphere that dulled him, and calmed the nerves that had been so tense seconds before.

"But it would appear that you were already running late to the BD appointment. Wouldn't want me to hold you up…" He said in a divine purr as he lifted the boy into his arms.

Blinking in confusion, gaining control of his meandered thoughts he began to feel the numbness draining from him, and his body tensed in an untrusting gesture. He did not trust vampires, never had, why start now when one he didn't know was carrying him, to a place that he didn't know.

"Ready?" He asked, giving no justification for saying such. And the next thing he knew, the wind was whipping past him at top speed. Finding himself still in the arms of the vampire.

"N-no…" he whispered gutturally, closing his eyes and struggling to get free.

"Hush…calm down chibi ichi…you'll never make it in time unless you have speed…" his voice was soft and deep, and Yugi concentrated his gaze into those red orbs, feeling himself melt into the moving figure, more so because he knew of nothing better to do for the time being.

'I could try and escape…but that's not allowed under several of the violations…it would cause consequences I am not willing to acquaint myself with. Maybe I could say that I'm a wanted criminal or something…. No that would hardly work; then he'd just turn me in for nothing, and I'd get in trouble for lying to a vampire…I could always hide my tag and say I was owned…but, if I were to do that I'd still have to explain why I was going to the B.D.' Mind running to find a way out of this, he ended in failure, having given up on ideas.

Doing his best to glare off into the nothingness of the blurring world around him, he tried his best to show his discomfort of the situation. But the way the vampire was looking, he was either finding it amusing, or not doing a good enough job making him look in some sense, that he wasn't as upset as he would have hoped to have been.

Scrunching his face into a true petulant look he crossed his arms and allowed the other reluctant access in holding him. Watching the vampire closely he saw as the vampire gave him a quick glance and a strange smile, that he could not read for intentions…it seemed somewhat mischievous, yet there was something else there that he couldn't read.

"Who stuck the stick up your ass?"

Blinking several times as though to clear his thoughts enough for what he had though he just heard, he looked in disbelief and repugnance before finally registering the comment. His face went pink as he fought the erg to slap anything of the man that he had already begun to dislike.

"I'm not going to answer that kind of question." He answered stiffly, rolling his eyes. Though at the same time thinking, 'you maybe, ass hole, fuck head, bastard,' naming off every insult he knew. He didn't think that his face had held that bad of an expression.

"Hum…then what is your name?" His voice came just as controlled and deep as before, only, it seemed to be more of an order that he dare not to deny. A small pause came before he felt his voice return.

"M-Mutou Yugi…"

"Yugi?" the vampire smiled as the name rolled out of his mouth. "It suites you," he continued causing a soft scowl to deepen into the aggravated creases in Yugi's face.

He had an erg to say, "oh of course it does, just like ass hole does you" to prove the point that he didn't like vampires, but he bit his tongue knowing by sheer guess that the vampire probably wouldn't go with it and instead commented with a polite, "thank you, sir."

"Oh, no need to use formalities, I get enough of those during work to care for them in the least." The vampire smiled not moving his gaze off its invisible forward target.

"Sorry, sir." Yugi mumbled sarcastically.

Piercing red eyes turned to him and he lifted an eyebrow. "Please, my name is Yami."

Yugi's stomach feel, and was left somewhere far behind them as he was traveling in the arm's of another. The Yami was carrying him. The man he had planned to kill since the day he was born. Okay maybe not that long ago, since his mother's death.

"Y-you're…you're the Yami?" he asked trying to register himself.

Yami's eyes were set back in front of him and he looked mildly interested, "yes, does that bother you?"

There was a pause and he knew the vampire could smell how he felt about it. "Yes." He said concentrating completely on the other, glaring daggers. "Put me down, this instant," he growled beginning to struggle in his praetor's arms.

The creature laughed and tightened his grip around him causing a feverish blush to brighten the petty teen face.

"Do you really have an itching, edging to have me set you down, while I'm running, and you are late?" He asked braking into his deep chuckle.

"Well," Yugi began wanting to get away from the…the thing that killed his parents. "If it meant getting away from a monster like you, I'd be happy to die!" He emphasized his point with all the deep hatreds and loathing that he had gained from his family.

The overpowering vampire stopped dead in his tracks and looked down at the seething teen with an utter curious gaze that burned into Yugi's mind. He shivered at the glowing red eyes…the red.

Yugi caught himself being drawn into the depressed thoughts that normally hid in his subconscious, and to his mother…and father's aged ceremony…he had to get away from this beast! Continuing with his useless struggles he noted the vampire just stood there, holding to him tightly and looking at him so intensely.

"S-stop it!" he shrieked and squeezed his eyes shut; he no longer wanted to face the bloodied gaze. It was haunting in its own, and with whom it was the gaze belonged, it turned it into a poison that was suffocating him.

"Stop what?" he questioned in a drawing voice that sheered his struggle into a limp submission, and caused his eyes to turn to the pleadings of the glowing gaze…

"T-that…" Yugi whimpered in hush.

The all mighty ruler, the Yami that controlled everything looked apprehensive as he ran a hand up the back of Yugi's slim neck, making another shudder run up his spine.

"Yugi-chan…tell me why you would rather die than be in my arms? Most people would think it the chance of a lifetime…"

Yugi thought for a moment, he was beginning to regain his senses, and he recognized this situation as mind control. 'I hate how humans are so weak as to be led into temptation by vampires…we are pathetic beings…it's sad.' Yugi though depressed as his mouth moved against his will.

"Yami-san…you rule a world of monsters, and that is what you you're self are. Most people don't understand, because they have never heard anyone appose them before; they follow it because they have never known there is another way. You have enslaved the human race, and you are heartless beings. You killed my parents, so why should I want to stay in your arms? The arms of a killer?

"I am no holey being, but neither are you. Vampires may believe that they are perfect…or at lest more so than the humans, but really, we are the same, you merely hold unfair advantages above our heads. If you were perfect, then why were you sent to this world when you could have been gods? Or do you really think yourself better than the gods, your creator?" Yugi felt drowsy as the vampire continued using his powers. It seemed he didn't want to probe Yugi's mind for the answers, but he was still using just as harmful a way.

"Hum…" There was a pause as the vampire settled on the words. "Yugi-chan, you speak with a wisdom that even few vampires have." Yugi felt him drawing back his powers leaving him weak and shaken. "You are right, though most humans, and vampires don't realize it, we vampire do hold ourselves above humans, and in a way, humans are our slaves. But for reasons I am not to explain to a 'normal' human, there are important leading factors to why that is." He smiled and lifted a hand to brush it through Yugi's blond bangs, like his own. "But how ever did such a frail being come upon such dangerous information? Normally, I would have to kill you now for knowing what you do."

Yugi's eyes widened at the thought, the Yami had reason to kill him, he was as good as dead now. He closed his eyes as he fought back the stinging of tears. 'Yes I said I'd rather die than be here with him…but I will never see my friends again.' He almost gave out a pained sob, but he bit it back into the tightness of his throat.

"But I will not," Yami stated as he turned his gaze forward again, and continued his way to the B.D. office.

Yugi thought that his ears had failed him. "W-what? Why not?"

The vampire smirked but didn't look at him. "I'm sorry, are you disappointed?"

As quickly as he could with a sick feeling in his stomach probably from the running, it was a high speed, and he hadn't ever traveled that fast, he shook his head.

"Hum…well then…I guess I could tell you, but you have to keep it a secret. Could you do that?" Yami asked with a smile tugging at his lips.

Nibbling on bottom lip as he thought it over he nodded meekly and whispered a "yes."

"I think you're cute," he smiled and stooped suddenly as they had now arrived at a large building with a steep stoop of steps. Yugi was so shocked by the statement as Yami set him down that he split his lip with the pressure he applied by his teeth.

He gasped at the sudden pain and the blood that slipped down his throat.

The vampire stared at him, no doubt able to smell the blood that was filling his mouth; Yugi cringed, he hated the taste of blood. Leaning over to spit out the salty substance, he stooped as a cold hand gripped his chin and brought his face up. He almost swallowed, but stopped when he remembered there was blood in his mouth. Not something that he wanted to ingest.

Yami's eyes deepened, and were now bright with the red, but with out pupils. Shivering at the stare Yugi felt Yami move one arm to grip his shoulder, and keep him steady. Yugi closed his eyes not about to watch what was happening but Yami ordered calmly almost into his head, "keep your eyes opened." And much to his discomfort, he found his eyes opened as Yami captured his lips.

Keeping his body stiff, Yugi held his hands in tight fists at his sides. The other lips softly brushing against his own caused his body to work against him, and he shivered in anticipation of what was next. His body's mussel's seemed to be relaxing at the pleasures.

Yami's tongue shot out of his mouth and licked the up the sweet blood that dribbled out of the corner of Yugi's mouth, and the sensation sent a moan out of Yugi's throat. He opened his mouth, about to chock on his own blood when he felt Yami suck the blood right out of his mouth.

All competent thoughts left his body through the blood that left his lip, flowing into Yami's searching mouth. As much as he hated himself for it, Yugi went onto his tiptoes, and pressed into the kiss, feeling a surge of blood run to his cheeks, and to his groin.

He heard that same deep, almost mocking laugh leave the vampire's lips as he pulled away to see Yugi dazed and trembling with passion. Teasingly he leaned down and kissed the tip of Yugi's, pulling away so that no body part remained in contact with the needy human.

"Your blood is sweet," he said softly as he watched Yugi try to pull himself together, unfortunately, Yugi did that just as easily as one does when they are untying a knot without hands. He swayed slightly and shook his head.

"Y-Yami-sama…" Yugi moaned in wanting.

"Yugi-chan, I have heard them, they have already called your name, and you are going to be in trouble." Yami said in an assisting way, helping Yugi remember what it was he was supposed to be doing.

Yugi blinked and nodded still not in a state of comprehension. Sighing Yami wrapped an arm around Yugi's waist and headed up the stairs gracefully.

Scene Three Of Nine

In the time it took for them to get up the stairs Yugi had sorted through all of his bothered thoughts, mentally beaten him self to a pulp, and still had time to slap Yami away from him, and have a wonderful little glaring contest with the vampire.

And after all of these lovely activities, he was so enraged, that he made sure to slam the BD front door opened with a loud 'slam.' The room, which as always had been a deathly quiet all eyes vampire, and otherwise stared at him in a state of shock.

Yugi's left eyebrow twitched slightly, and he panted, his cheeks stained a light pink from his anger and his lower lip only lightly bruised from the kiss he shared with the supreme ruler of this world.

The Vampire heads that run the BD department, the ass holes they are, were quick to regain their heads though. And a slender man roughly 5' 6", with brown spiked hair, and gray eyes was the first to speak.

"You're late." He said simply but in a deadly tone. He held a roster of names for the third day's selected, and tapped his long nails on it warningly.

Yugi held his head high and in a glaring mood, stared down the none to pleased man. "I know, sir." His voice was steady and he had nothing on his mind besides taking the bottle of holey water that he carried with him today, and through it in his face. But now that wouldn't be a good idea with a room full of people, would it?

The vampire's eyes flashed a glowing white, not the most common of colors, but natural all the same. "Why?" He demanded coldly.

"Be-" he had barely started his sentence before he felt an icy wind wrap itself around him, drawing him into the claws of darkness. The vampire seemed to notice it too because his eyes turned back to the normal gray, and it was evident that he was both frightened and shocked.

An arm wrapped around his waist and another grabbed his chin pulling him successfully into a tight embrace of the vampire he was becoming less and less fond of. 'I can handle myself,' he thought bitterly.

Yugi felt a cold cheek against his own and glared straight ahead of himself, keeping perfectly quiet, and still.

"My dear child, I'd hate to be the barer of bad news, but I in fact held him up. If you would so kindly forgive his tardiness, I'd be ever so grateful." The Yami's voice was so smooth and Yugi hated it. It was so calm, and swaying and he loved it at the same time. The man had just made a fool of him, and Yugi hated him for that as well: but the Yami had only done it to save him and he was so grateful for the help. Yugi hated himself for loving anything about the man…but he felt so drawn to him, so the more he loved him or even liked him, the less he began to like himself.

If loving is painful enough to cause him to hate, then it was something that he could live without.

"My lord, sir." The vampire seemed in ah of something that Yugi couldn't understand so he didn't even begin to try.

"I hope for your sake that you meant no harm upon this human," Yami continued pulling Yugi closer, though visibly it probably looked indifferent.

"My sire," he bowed and Yugi wanted to run away, to hide. Out of all of the vampires he could have met, he had to meet one that was feared and revered more than even the leaders of the separate clans. "I would never have intention in harming something that is rightfully yours."

Yugi stiffened, 'by what right am I owned like the rest of my kind by the all mighty ruler? The right the vampires gave themselves in calling them selves greater.' He answered his own question and the answer caused his eyes to water, but he willed the stinging to keep his mind off of those other more painful thoughts.

"Then what is your decision to handle the matter of this absence?" Yami pondered; Yugi could almost feel his deathly smile.

"How ever you wish me to, my father."

"Last time I checked, all vampires are capable of rational thought." Yami lifted an eyebrow challengingly.

'As much as I hate vampires, I can see what Yami is trying to do. No matter what meaning he has to do so, it is wrong,' Yugi wished Yami would stop before this vampire was made into a fool like he had just been. If Yami were to do this, no one would take this man, or creature seriously and all would revile him for causing their master as well as their kind disgrace. Yugi felt his heart impair itself for the man. 'Yes that is what he is…a man.' Yugi thought fighting back a sob of pain that was not his own.

"Y-yes sir, we are, sir." His voice held the slight tingle of tremble, but Yugi couldn't hear it. He just knew it was there.

"Then, I wish to know your best thought of action to take." The air seemed to be as cool and painful as the voice of the other, the one that stood sternly behind him, not yielding to the man. 'No,' Yugi thought, 'Yami will not draw back until he is humiliated.'

"My lord?"

Yami held himself high. "What is your decision?" he repeated.

Yugi watched as he flinched at Yami's voice, "I-I will let him off with a warning this time sir, my Yami."

Yugi could almost feel the disgust on the Yami's face from behind him. "So you would lower the punishment on a being merely because of the preference of a superior? Had it been under a normal case when a vampire waltzed into the room and told you the same story what would you have given as punishment for the deeds of the lateness?"

"Sir, my lordships, I think you'll understand th-" the vampire tried to keep strength and power into his voice but every word his master spoke made him cower.

"You think I'll understand that with someone such as myself makes the rule pliable?" Yami said and Yugi felt his body begin to tremble in fear, not of his own fear, the fear that he was feeding off from the vampire Yami was harassing, he was in so much fear…

"I make the regulations, and you think of yourself as worthy to bend them for any just vampire that comes into the room?"

"No sir." His voice had been completely meek now, and he made little attempt to hide it.

"Well that's what you make it sound like." Yami said and finally Yugi couldn't take the pain of disappointment that the other vampire had for failing his lord.

"Y-Yami…" Yugi whispered. "Please no…no. no. no. no. no. no."

"But I meant to-" the gray eyed man pleaded in his despair.

Yugi gritted his teeth together as he forced out more words, "I-it hurts…please Yami no."

"You are worthless. You make argument over your own denial. Who ever turned you should be shot."

That is when the two in the room, snapped. Yugi and the vampire at the same time fueled by the same emotions.

The vampire just looked broken, but Yugi vocalized the pain, and at the top of his lungs he screamed, his hands over his eyes. The noise shattered through the room and took most people by surprise. But later, everyone would have denied there being a scream at all.

Scene Four Of Nine

Yugi held his head and frowned, he felt like someone had just slugged him with a metal bat. 'Such a pleasant feeling…' he thought through his inner sarcasm. Letting out a small hiss he felt the sting of eyes peering into the back of his head and turned to the calm Yami.

"You have such a lovely voice." He smiled thoughtfully, "I wonder how you would sound when having sex…"

Yugi being very shocked by the thoughts that the vampire liked to ponder shivered. Moving back to more important matters, and acting as though he had not heard the comment, he said in a small horse voice, "why would you do that to him?"

Yami looked at him intently and shrugged, "had you known what he was thinking of doing to you, you might not be so sensitive to him."

Yugi glared as best he could, but Yami just seemed to find it amusing. "Yami-san, had you know how he was feeling, would you have felt any remorse for doing that to him?"

"Feeling?" Yami half-frowned, "it does not matter how he was 'feeling' what he was thinking was all that mattered. He deserved what he got as far as I'm concerned."

Yugi looked at him wide-eyed, 'how can he be so heartless?' "You heartless bastard. How can you be so cruel? I nearly went insane from the pain that you caused him."

His beast drew closer, "what do you mean? First of all, how could you hear the conversation? And then of course, how in the world could you feel what he felt?"

"Er…" Yugi thought a moment, what did the Yami mean when he said how could he hear their conversation, they hadn't being talking in foreign tongue, and had that been what the feeling had come from. It made little sense anyway.

Yami listened to Yugi's silence and dawned, "are you possibly an empathetic?"

"Empathetic." Yugi repeated half-believingly. "Like empathy…the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts and experiences fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner? Me with the capability of any sort of empathy towards a vampire…me able to feel any such way, to my most reviled creature? Being able to feel connected, and feel through the eyes of what I was born to hate? Is that what you are telling me?" Yugi furiously bit his lip trying to keep his voice calm.

"Very wonderful definition of the term, Yugi, and yes that is what I was questioning."

Yugi rolled his eyes and put a hand on his hip. "Oh, I'm so glad your pleased with my definition, I've only been learning that sort of thing since I was born. And I highly doubt I can feel what a vampire feels."

Yami smiled and Yugi felt an overwhelming burst of lust fill his body, causing him to shake with want, for what, he didn't know.

Gasping Yugi closed his eyes tightly and swallowed. "Stop it!" he whispered and then, quite suddenly the feeling was gone, the sudden leave caused him to fall to his hands and knees.

"Do you really doubt it?" Yami asked, instantly kneeling before him. "When you think about it, it is quite probable. Vampires are trained by their master's quite intensely not to allow their feelings to be shown in anyway. They are tortured in any way possible to do so, that vampire in there had not been trained well enough, it makes perfect sense that he could allow his feeling to slip enough under my interrogation for an empathetic to feel what he felt. Especially for one as powerful as you: able to feel the hate of the dead."

Yugi turned over these statements carefully. But he couldn't understand it in anyway shape or form. Empathetic humans were very rare, some would come along ever hundred years or so, but to be empathetic at all these days, it was nearly impossible. You'd have to have a complete human history. No cross-breading at all.

"What do you mean, 'able to feel the hate of the dead'?" Yugi asked still on his hands and knees.

"What do I mean?" Yami continued, "what do you mean what do I mean? Exactly as I said, I meant. You can feel the un-rested souls feelings. The feelings of the dead."

"Feelings of the dead? Whose feelings?"

"You ask me like you expect me to know all of those that hate me. I do not recognize their faces. It is a man and a woman."

Yugi shoot to his knees, 'could it be, my parents?' "You lie." Yugi said angrily.

"Do I?" Yami was sitting cross-legged before him, and asked in a way that Yugi really thought he didn't know.

"…Er…hai." Yugi sighed softly and got to his feet. Crossing his arms, he looked up and said, "How could a vampire possibly tell the truth? Vampires lie. All of them."

Yami also returned to his feet, but as he did, he seemed to tower over Yugi. "As do humans, but you seem to think that humans tell more truths than my kind. We are each capable of both, but what reasons do vampires have to lie for? Over the years, we begin to find the trait useless. Humans seem to find some uses in it, but really it solves little problems, and tends to make things worse in the long run. If it does not make a situation worsen, the karma comes back to you."

"How can you say that? How long have you gone without it?" Yugi glared up at Yami, who was now not three inches from him, looking down smiling.

"How old do you think I am? I am the son of the first vampire; Cain, whom came to be at the creation of our world, I am the fifth, and only reaming of his cindered. And now, I am the ruler of this world. How long ago do you think I needed to lie?"

Yugi shrugged. "Well of course my first answer is, old. As for lying, I don't know when the last time you needed to lie was, but I am no doubt assured that you have done so recently to get out of something, you have been ruling this world for the longest time. Surly you have at least wanted to get out of working before, and used lying as you're ticket."

"For such a prodigy, Yugi, you are as naïve, and innocent as a lamb. You are so wound up about a loss of some sort, you allow it to do things to you or make you do things that are not in your nature. And no. You seek the truth? I have not lied since the day I was created. And, as hard as it may be for you to believe, I am in fact born of blood so I was never human enough to understand some of your thoughts, and feelings. To you it seems that a vampire represents evil. But to think that, there must also be an evil to you, where is your purity? Where are your innocents? You have become a tool to something, you didn't figure to exist.

"I have always believed humans to be simple minded creatures, give them a thought, and see what they do to it. But your thoughts are so morphed, they are not even your own anymore, as you may think them to be. But now we have strayed from the topic, and I am afraid many of my questions have yet to be answered, and there seems to be no more time for such discussions."

Yugi still swimming in the thoughts, and statements that had been made, Yugi scowled, and looked to the ground, trying in the most hard and complicated manner to digest the information. There was still one thing that was particularly bothersome.

Lifting his gaze to meet Yami's, he opened his mouth and questioned him, "demo-" and at that breach in between words, Yami had swooped down, and placed the lightest kiss on Yugi's lips, which is to say, at their proximity was none to difficult a task.

Yami smiled down at the flushing cheeks and said in a hushed voice just as the BD front doors opened, "I'll be waiting outside your school when it lets out. Say what you wish to your friends, and wrap things up; you may not get a chance to later."

Just before Yugi could get him back for the stolen kiss, he heard a friendly sound from behind him, and turned around.

"Konnichiwa, Yugi-kun!"

And by the time he looked back, Yami was gone.

Scene Four Of Nine

The fact that Yami had left before he had had his say, put Yugi into his own little blind-anger that left his friends white faced. Yugi in anger was like the strike of a snake, quick, shocking, and it always seemed to leave the occupants in the room, sickened. Unfortunate for Jou, Honda, and Malik, they just happened to be the two worst things in this case, there, and in Yugi's mind, what caused his problem.

The three boys had come up smiling, and found it in some sense, strange that Yugi hadn't turned to greet them.

'I can't believe that ass hole would kiss me and run! Out of all the strait forward techniques there are, he had to be so, so direct as to kiss me?' Though this had been the second time he had been kissed by him, the first time had been different, Yugi had known he had been charmed to take no harmful actions due to the vampire's blood lust, but also, and more importantly; Yami hadn't left him.

Yugi was shaking with maddening anger, and the instant he heard his friends, his body clenched up and he waited until they were close enough so that if they did run, he would have at least had some time to pay them back, and when they were in his range, he turned on them.

Turning around with all the force he had directed into his hand, he rounded, and planned to have a good whack at them all, but Jou, and Malik, had seen it coming. Malik, being 1/4 vampire, just stepped to the side and was out of range, but Jou hadn't been so lucky, and was still in the line of fire when Yugi's hand hit. And Honda? Poor, poor Honda, he hadn't even known what hit him and he had got the full swing of it.

Not a second after his slap, his voice was roaring with anger. "What the hell do you want? Couldn't you see that I was busy?!" Yugi yelled but not a moment later, he had his back turned to them, with his arms crossed.

There was a moment of silence and then a snigger from Malik as he looked at the faces on the other two. Their jaws were dropped, and they we as bleach white as a vampire, it had been their first encounter.

Silently fuming Yugi's eyebrow twitched as his nails dug into his arms. Malik at this time was laughing hysterically and leaning against the stiffened body of the shocked Jou. All the while, a large welt was appearing against his exposed arm, and one almost identical appeared on Honda, only to how far it's extent couldn't be told first-glance.

"Y-Yugi-kun?" Jou said timidly trying not to set Yugi off again.

But, "What?" was all that was snapped back.

Straightening up at the point to the words, Jou continued, "w-what was that all about?" he whacked Malik hard on the arm to get him to shut up so he could hear Yugi, but it did little to change the fought chuckles that slipped.

"I don't know," Yugi said hotly, "care to examine the facts? Don't you find it in the slightest, strange that I arrived late to a B.D. appointment, with a vampire no less, and then I totally freak out because of a simple harassment?" Yugi turned around and glared darkly at his friends.

"Erm…you know…I was going to ask about that, but ya…what about a harassment?" Jou asked trying to get the hate, and blame off of him in particular.

"You were in there…didn't you hear the conversation? The room was deathly silent, I never thought you of deaf, or is it more of the fact that your just that daft?"

Honda whom had time now to recompose himself had risen to his feet and was brushing himself off as he spoke. "What are you talking about Yugi? Your right the room was silent, deathly so whatever, but more importantly who was that vampire you were with, is that the same guy that your so mad about? Speaking of which, what are you so wrung up about?"

Yugi growled, "that vampire is just a freak, and what he did was-" Yugi quickly slapped a hand over his mouth and blushed. He was not about to let it be known that he was kissed…by a guy…a vampire no less…but by a guy was probably going to have the bigger impact…even if his friends were gay, they didn't know if he was or not and he liked to keep it that way.

Returning to the stance with his arms crossed, and his eyes closed he knew it would have much of an impact with a blush lighting his face. This is the moment that begun to interest Malik most, he had already stopped his laughing, and now he was ready to poke fun at an emotional Yugi.

"Yugi…you didn't…" he breathed purposefully putting on a shocked face.

"I don't know what you're talking about Malik," Yugi turned away from him more to hide his cherry cheeks than anything else.

"What did you do to that poor guy?" Malik teased smiling.

"'That poor guy?' He says! What about me? I didn't fucking touch him! He was making the moves on me, ME!" Yugi had turned and was flailing his arms to make a point, but quickly recognized his mistake and stopped. Glaring he sighed and said though a strained, and shaky voice, "don't you say a word."

"Oh? Do I even need words to ask?" Malik crossed his arms triumphantly; he nodded in his momentary optimistic narcissisms.

"What did he do to you Yugi?" Honda was smiling and leaning on Yugi like an armrest.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Yugi mumbled looking down so that his face was shadowed enough for his blush not to be visible. He pulled out from underneath Honda, causing the older boy to stumble, but at Yugi's reaction, he rewarded himself with a laugh.

"Oh come on Yugi. You're acting like he tried to rape you. I see you still have your pants on so it couldn't have been all that bad." Honda shook his head in disbelief but when he looked he quickly regretted his choice, Yugi who had moments before been hiding in the shadow cast from his own bangs, had met the taller gaze, and was doing his best to glare.

"Y-you just shut up while you're ahead." He said wrathfully, before turning and beginning the journey to his school.

"Hey Yugi!" Jou called frowning slightly. "He didn't mean it." And with that the three teens followed a fuming Yugi rather reluctantly, remaining several paces behind him as he walked quickly to keep ahead of them, arms clenched in tight fists to express his unspoken rage.

Scene Five Of Nine

Within no time, Yugi's full blown anger attack had subsided leaving him feeling guilty about his directed anger to his friends had done nothing. Though he wouldn't admit it, being angry with anyone really hurt him mentally. He would feel like he had committed a crime, and had given his friends reason to leave him and with his already pained state from losing his parents, the last thing he wanted to do was lose someone to his own temperament.

Even after an apology, and his friends blowing the entire anger things off he had felt like his stomach had crawled under a rock without him. Dwelling in depression though made him feel worse all over again though. He always felt that he was being to selfish, instead of worrying about the people who really mattered in his life, he was sitting there, swallowed in his own feelings of misery.

Yugi rubbed his eyes and yawned, it was still to young into the night to dwell on these feelings. He could do that later, in the sanctity on his own bedroom, with his own knife. He barely registered his friends beside him break into laughter, but was quickly returned to reality when he felt someone rest their hand on his shoulder. Blinking and shaking off his depression for a minuet, he looked up to see a smiling Jou.

"Something wrong Yugi-chan?" he asked, unable to hold all the worry out of his voice.

"Hu? Oh no…just…er…thinking is all." Yugi smiled nervously and quickly drew an arm up to scratch at the back of his neck; attempting to hide his discomfort the question had caused him.

"Don't lie Yugi-chan. I've known you forever, now speak up. What's the matter?" Jounouchi demanded kindly.

"Well…you see-" Yugi began searching his mind for an excuse besides depression. But he was quickly granted one, and a familiarly annoying voice came into the picture.

"Oh there you guys are!" an ecstatic voice arose from several yards behind them.

'Thank god!' Yugi thought as he heard soft 'ch' sounds come from the now thoroughly irritated group around him. Yugi turned with the rest of the group to find Mazaki Anzu running in their direction, in all her modified uniform glory-that would be of the skirt that didn't leave your imagination to do anything-and big-breasted might.

"Anzu-kun, so good to see you." Yugi greeted, truly grateful.

"Oh, hi Yugi…" she said quietly before turning to her prime targets for today.

Batting her eyes flirtatiously at Jou and Honda, Yugi had to wonder what she saw in them-or to more accurately say Honda, girls seemed to avoid him like the plague- but whatever the reason it didn't much matter, he had gotten out of the dreadful conversation, and now he just watched as Anzu 'worked her magic' so to speak.

He was amazed how quickly, and how long, unbearably long she could talk about nothing at all in particular and not run out of things to say that had to be a gift.

Yugi smiled and shook his head correcting himself mid-thought, 'what a curse she has…'

Yugi wasn't surprised when her topic changed, but he was quite surprised as to what it had changed to.

"…you are both so talented! I'm surprised you two don't have girlfriends with the way you look. I bet the girls all flock to you." She battered her eyes smiling before turning and putting her hands on her hips as she looked to Malik. "But you I can understand why you wouldn't have a girlfriend. I mean you're almost as tiny as Yugi!" Yugi scowled, that one hurt. "But you're not nearly as smart as him so no one that likes small, stupid people could possibly like you. But then there is also the fact that you almost look like a girl. The only girl that would go out with a girly guy is one of those lesbians in denial."

'Like you?' Yugi thought evilly, not liking her habit of insulting his friends at all.

And so she went on. "…I bet your dick is smaller than a raccoons." And on…"…You couldn't pay anyone enough money to even look at you." And on…Yugi was amazed at how much self-control Malik had. "…When you're not at school you always dress like a faggot. Talk about a turn off!"

Yugi sighed and shook his head, 'she's dead.' The last comment though did the trick, and had broken the thin ice in the very large pond Anzu had already treaded her self to the center of.

"That's it you bitch!" Then Yugi watched in horror as Malik lunged onto her, reaching into his pocket to grab a very shiny metal spoon. Yugi remembered once how Malik had gone off on what to do with a spoon. He vaguely remembered his comment of "gorging eyes out…feeding them to the ravens," him and Ryou had seen the look on his face as he had said it at the time and that wasn't about to leave his mind. 'Uh oh.' Anzu screamed.

Yugi was the first to act, Jou and Honda just sat there smiling with the, 'she-got-what-was-coming' sort of gleam in their eye. But as Yugi struggled to pull Malik back he called out to them.

"Jou---h-help!" and reluctantly, Jou dragged his feet over to help, obliging to the simple request.

"How dare she!!! Like being gay is a bad thing?!"

"Good morning guys."

"Goddamn it let go of me!!! I'm gonna' kill her!" Yugi attempted to hold the hand with the spoon back, but with Malik being part vampire and all, to put it simply he was easily thrown off.

Yugi landed with a painful 'thump' on the ground causing to lose focus for a moment. But when he looked up, he was greeted with the friendly face of his dear friend, Ryou.

Scene Six Of Nine

When Yugi heard the situation that Ryou was having, he was more than willing to help. It partly reminded him of his own situation that he could do nothing about with the Yami, but that didn't make it any more appealing then it had already been to help his friend. Ryou had always been good to him, and they had such similar personalities, in a way it made him feel like he was helping a brother.

When the midnight snack bell rang, the first place he made his way to was the library. It wasn't like he was going to eat a midnight snack anyway. Yugi wasn't all that big a fan of food, he didn't understand why but it was just not all that appealing to him. He went to the cafeteria every day, bought a lunch and sat down with Ryou. They'd talk and Yugi would mush his food around on his plate a bit, on some rare occasions he'd even have a bite of it, but really the only meal he cared at all for was breakfast. He didn't know why exactly, but it was the only meal he really ate.

Yugi smiled at the bookkeeper the recognized him from his constant visits before, and after school. He was a tall man, skinny, and very angular, his eyes were a deep black, and his hair was cut short, an autumn gold almost, a strange contrast to his eyes indubitably. He knew where every book was in the school, and that is all that really mattered. With Yugi always renting books, they had become quite friendly though the man never had interest in telling Yugi his name. He didn't even ask for his own, so they didn't really know each other, they were merely good acquaintances.

"Hey there, what are you doing in here during midnight snacks? You don't normally come in until after, or before school hours." The man smiled, showing his pearly white teeth as he did so. For the record, this was man not beast.

"Oh I'm just looking up something…oh yes, and I won't be in this afternoon, I'm leaving early." Yugi smiled and walked over to the counter brightly.

"Ah…a girl? I never saw you much as the dating type. Don't get me wrong; I just don't think you could handle being directed to as a pair of people instead of a person. You know I think you're adorable though so it doesn't really surprise me there that someone else would too."

Yugi sighed and shook his head, with an almost pouting look on his face. "I wish it had been a girl. It's a vampire." Balling his hands in lose, unexpressive fists he rested his elbows on the counter and his face in his hands.

"Really now?" The man smiled, "now who is this mystery person?"

Yugi thought for a moment, then smiled too, "If I told you, I'd have to kill you." Innocent smile in place he laughed softly.

"Slightly clichéd, but I get the point." He grinned after the seriousness had passed from his earlier comment then continued, "But I remember there being actual point to your visit?" It was more of a question than a statement, but it managed to bring Yugi back into the reality of his situation.

Yugi shot up and slapped his forehead. "Right, right, right. Sorry, I forgot. Back to the point of me coming, do you have a book of famous, wanted vampires?"

There was an interlude in conversation as the man thought for a moment. "Interesting subject. What exactly do you need it for?"

"My friend ran into a vampire tonight, and it sounded to me like that one wanted guy. Goes by the name of 'The Tomb King' or something. I really only remember hearing about him when I was reading once. But I can't remember his real name. I don't even think I have the nick name right."

"'The Tomb King'…" he said slowly, running the name through his mind. "I remember hearing something about that once. But there aren't really any books on that subject here. Check on line at the "Undead Database" it has all the information that you'll need. All you have to do is put in what you know about him. Even limited information is good there."

Yugi paused, then glared at him, "and how do you expect me to get into the Undead Database exactly. Do you think I haven't tried? I have tried before to see about some people and my name is restricted. I can't get in. I've even tried under different names, and fake names, but it says; 'Access Denied. Mutou Yugi: Code 189965 Restriction.'"

The man laughed, light reflecting off of his glasses in strange places giving a demonic sort of air, his sadistic laugh even managed to slip sharp chills down Yugi's back. "You really are smart to have figured out about that. But I have gained access. I'll get on for you, but you must promise me not to go looking into anything but what you need for this guy. Understand?"

Yugi looked at the man that he had known for several years like they had never met before he seemed like another person, and this new person was slightly frightening. Frightening in a way like sleepless nights as you conscious is haunted with the dreary thoughts and reflections of nightmares. He couldn't tell at all what was going through this other's mind, and something told him that he was more complicated a person than he had given him credit. Managing a small nod, his voice rang out in a calmness that was not his own. "I promise." The response came to easily to be the truth for him, yet he knew he would obey the request. Even with that thought floating around in his head, he couldn't help but feel that it was a lie, like he himself made this promise. The thought of it no being him who had made a promise with his mouth was an unnerving one. In a sense it made he himself have a thought of not being alone in his body flicker, and it left room for his flickering sanity evident, and once you note the possibility of your own insanity, you begin to doubt everything you know about yourself.

But the man that had once seemed so friendly and inviting to him didn't give him a second for himself to doubt truth to Yugi's words. As though he saw it sufficient to accept a lie. But the fact the he didn't recognize it made Yugi think of how easily others would believe, and accept his lies for truth. Now comparing this truth to the thought of not knowing himself or others as much as he would like, he doubted there was anything more fearful in his world.

"Very well, then I guess the only thing keeping you from your knowledge now is me. So, let me just bring it up now." The man smirked and walked out from behind the desk, walking to a long desk attached to the wall, it was lined with computers, all set up formally with it's black monitors, mice, key boards, and head-phones. Yugi had always wondered why the standard color for these things were black, but it didn't seem to mean much at the moment. Then again, the thought of a putrid green computer, piss yellow, and other such fascinating examples of why such colors that should have never been made, were in fact made. Black was probably one of the few colors tolerated by most, to near all.

Yugi glued his eyes to the screen, and listed with opened ears as one of the things he had always awaited was near time to happen. Once the screen appeared that said enter user name, and password, he watched having never seen anything further than this (and the rejection notice after it, but that didn't seem to count as further to him, backwards possibly, but not further). He watched, transfixed and barley noticed as the name that was typed in.

"User-Name: Assistant 189676

Password: "

Yugi looked at the length of the password and mentally cursed, the chances of finding the answer to something as long as that; were minimal to none. 'Why couldn't it have been a reasonable amount of lettering, like a six letter password could have been better but a 1…2…3…12 letter password? It seemed a bit of a stretch if not a paranoid precaution to take.'

A screen then popped up, much like the one he had grown accustomed to seeing but much more pleasing, in plain black bolded text, something as uninteresting and dull as a white background fronted with just as simple text, had brought a joyous sensation like the fluttering of nerves with a tingle of accomplishment filled him. He almost forgot of the promise instantly.

"Welcome, Assistant 189676."

"There you go. Remember, if you do anything bad it's my name you're running through the dirt." The voice was soft and right in Yugi's ear as he noticed that the man was already standing. Which reminded him…

"What's with the SN?" He asked, more interested in something so simple than he would have liked to admit.

"What do you mean?"

"Your SN seems a bit dull don't you think? I mean I always imagined that your name was creative, that can't be your real name. Why did you have to change it? This sort of thing always requires real names." Yugi admitted that there was childishness to the question but just the same, he cared for the answer.

The question was greeted with a simple laugh, "Then I guess I made to many assumptions, you see there are more complexities to this system then you know of. It doesn't allow just any person to join. You must be of the undead, or be a serf of a great person."

Yugi's eyes widened, "You're a serf? What are you doing working here?"

He laughed again, and the action made Yugi feel more foolish each time he heard it. "Yes I am a serf, but if you don't mind keeping a secret, I am more than a simple serf. I work directly to the orders of the Yami. I was sent here for a mission for him several years ago, and asked if I could stay for a couple years. I am actually leaving next week."

Yugi blinked. That's all he did. What else could someone do faced with such information?

Scene Seven Of Nine

Yugi was in aw of the database he had waited years to see. It had been only a minuet; two at most and in that time he had typed in "The Tomb King" and was instantly faced with more facts than he could have hoped to find.

'The Tomb King' had of course been incorrect; big surprise there. But he found was he had been damn close. 'King of Thieves' He had been born in the Sexton Era in the Content of the Brujah, at the age 20, he had been kidnapped and brought to the Sabbat who had sold him to Caitiff of the Camarilla's Clans, and it was them who had turned him.

His parents had died when he was young, age five in his human years from the same Violation that had caused his parent's death, but it had had surprisingly no effect on his youth. He had never been an example of a good person. The description almost reminded him of Malik with lack of sleep set aside the entire thievery subject.

He spent his first years as a vampire on the verge of insanity. The fact that he had been turned weighed on his conscious almost as deeply as the fact that his master raped and left him. Sires to a new vampire are important influence and his leaving him affected him for the worse. But with a master without a clan, and himself without a master, he had been categorized as a Caitiff. Thirty years after being turned, his life had been changed with him meeting the man he had blamed for everything.

It was unknown how he had managed to do it, but he had killed his sire. At that time he had awoken from his dream, and gone back to his ways before he was a vampire, with an increasing amount of severity. Before he had never considered breaking any of the Violations, he merely went about being as naughty as he could with minor punishment, but he took a list of the Vampire Violations, all of which only applied to the vampires, (different than the ones that Yugi had memorized but still similar to it in content) then he began going one, by one down the list, he make a large public mockery of each and escaping each time extravagantly making an exit.

Yugi smiled at his style, he had to admit; it was creative. If he had guts enough, he could do the same with the limiting human violations, maybe he could knock some sense into his kind enough for them to revolt? Though he doubted it, it was the most tempting thought he had had in a long while. Something leaving him almost giddy on the inside.

His last appearance had been seventy years ago with the slaughter of 100 vampires at a convenient store. At this discovery, Yugi couldn't help the sadistic laugh that escaped him. He could feel the bookkeeper's questioning look burn into the back of his head, but he didn't turn.

Finally discovering a picture of him with the name "Bakura" labeling the bottom, he quickly pressed print. Ryou was now probably dieing of curiosity. Or at least, he should be. With a guy like this following you, few wouldn't be anxious as to his next appearance. Yugi's best guess was when this 'Bakura' guy finally decided it time to take Ryou, it would only be after the torment of him, and in front of everybody for all the world to see he was going to have a pet.

Yugi smiled as he logged off and ran over to the printer to grab the printed picture. This entire theme of Bakura, King of Thieves reminded him entirely of a spoiled child, showing off to the world that he could do as he pleased, when he pleased, fuck all of them around him that dare say different.

Smiling quite evilly to himself he waved to his dear ol' bookkeeper and went on his marry way. Not able to help himself from the words that escaped his lips.

"Bakura-sama doesn't know what he's gotten himself into. Once the initial shock has subsided, and Ryou-kun is back on his feet, the King of Thieve is going to be at his mercy and is going to regret anything he did to him." Yugi laughed the entire way to the cafeteria, knowing that he couldn't tell Ryou the entire story, yet.

Scene Eight Of Nine

The talk with Ryou had been short, for some reason Ryou hadn't been at all interested in what he had to say, that or he was really good at playing like that was the case. After he had said the name, it was like Ryou had gone into another world entirely. As much as he tried to continue the conversation, Ryou just nodded when he asked a question and said, "Uh hu." every once in a while. Needless to say, the conversation ended in silence.

Now Yugi had always liked silence, it gave him time to think over things he had learned, think of what he could do to the vampire race, and all the thoughts that occupied his mind at that point in time, but now his mind had been sent on vampire stalkers like Bakura, and his own Yami problem and didn't want to change anytime soon. And so the saying goes, 'a watch pot never boils' so it also goes for waiting to batter a kiss stealer. The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to do something about it.

Then so…the minuets ticked by at the slow pace of two steeps backwards as he watched the clock.

Ryou seemed to notice this, though he said nothing. Giving Yugi his much needed space in exchange for not being yelled at. The tension in the air around him had bubbled to a boil, yet the pot was not ready.

He looked back at the time with renewed hope, but nearly yelled, as it had been a total of one minuet since he had looked to it. 'A new record…' he thought bitterly as he slammed his head against the desk, not noticing the pain it caused him to do so.

'Yami would pay dearly for this, oh yes he would. And how sweet the satisfaction of it would be.'

The teacher came over to him in confusion of the desk head-slamming ordeal. But before Ryou could warn her, or him for that matter she tapped him on the shoulder.

"Mutou Yugi-san, is something the matter?" She asked looking like a cat peering to see what was coming. 'Oh yes,' Yugi later thought. 'Curiosity killed the cat, indeed.'

"What the hell do you want? Can't you see I'm agile? Don't you understand these symptoms? You're a vampire aren't you? Why don't you see what's fucking wrong with your head and not your fucking mouth, or is that to complicated a feat for you, you maniacal beast that should be seen as what you truly are, a thing that defies nature! How dare you interrupt my sulking session! Can't a fucking person have their own fucking peace!!! Why if I had a shovel I'd-"

At this moment, Ryou intervened and wrapped one arm with much difficulty around the middle of his flailing body, the other going straight to his mouth to stop him from digging a hole any deeper with it.

"H-he's had a rough day…" Ryou tried to explain, not knowing at all the reason, but figuring it the thing that says all possibilities.

Yugi moved his mouth so that he actually could say something with out it being muffled. "I'll say if I've had a fucking bad day or n-"

Ryou now had him wrestled to the floor and was sitting on him using both hands to stop the words from coming out.

"P-please excuse his rudeness…he's just rather upset."

Yugi pouted and stopped his struggling. Their teacher, having still been the process of accepting such a burst of anger to come of such a small, quiet, kind being, that she just rose her eyebrow and shook her head. There were giggles around the room, and Yugi understood why. Blushing he motioned with his head for Ryou to get off of him so he could get up.

Jumping to his feet he bowed deeply and apologized. "G-gomen nasi…."

She looked at him a second and decided to ignore the entire thing by going to the front of the room and continuing her lesson. Yugi returned to his seat thanking Ryou for his heroic save and completely down-casting his face to hid his embarrassment. Well, at the least he wasn't angry anymore…but there would be more time for that later.

Scene Nine Of Nine

Well, when the bell finally did ring expressing the end of the school day Yugi hadn't killed anyone. Still quite embarrassed by his outburst, few saw him at all. He'd apologize again to his teacher after every one left. But to more important matters fist.

Yugi watched as Ryou attempted to push all his things into his bags, he wasn't surprised when some of them hit the ground. As he was picking them up, he seemed to notice Yugi standing behind him. Looking over his shoulder he stood up when it was all in his bag, and gave Yugi a slightly nervous look, one that clearly read 'don't hurt me' returning his anger of his situation with the Yami just as quickly as he had lost it before.

"Yugi? Something wrong?"

Deciding now was the better time to go off he retorted hotly, "HAI! On my way to B.D. today I ran into this stupid vampire and now he's going to talk to me on my way home. I can't walk with you tell every one for me would you?" He would have put more emotion into it, but he was pretty sure he had gotten all his anger out as he was thrashing about in Ryou's hold.

"Tell them what?" Ryou asked understandably. 'Probably because he had a similar encounter,' Yugi thought.

"Just that I have to talk to someone and I'll see them tomorrow." He nodded finding it good to have restored his composure once again.

"Okay," Ryou nodded in response.

"Ja matta ne…" Yugi waved and ran out the door before another word could be said. Bowing to the teacher just out side the door and apologizing as deeply as before, he saw Ryou turn his back. He felt a flood of pain fill his body. It seemed to believe he would never see his friend again…and if he did, it wouldn't be the same Ryou. Guilt and strain was injected into his blood stream, he was just about to steep back into the classroom when he felt two arms wrap themselves about him.

Had that been guilt he felt? Certainly not, it was gone too soon to have been, and for the most undoubtedly not last time of the day, red anger filled his body. He swung around, broke free from the grasp of the other, and glared at who he knew to be the person he had been waiting all day to see.

Grabbing his wrist he pulled him down the hallway, and pushed him out the door that lead to the outside. Slamming the door behind him he didn't even give the wind a chance to run genteelly over his heated skin before putting all his might into his hand, and slapping the Yami.

His face had followed through with the hand and his eyes were…well…like a lot of people that day: surprised. He stood there for a second unmoving as Yugi huffed out his anger.

"H-how dare you!" he said in seething anger. "How dare you kiss me and run like that." Yugi crossed his arms and breathed heavily.

'Now that! Is exactly what I have been waiting all day to do!' Yugi thought gaily. Sweet satisfaction…

Yami finally turned his head, with a blank unreadable expression. He lifted his hand and touched his cheek. It looked as though he hadn't at all expected to be slapped. Yugi smiled. 'Good.'

"You look surprised." Yugi stated. "What were you expecting?"

Yami smiled and leaned forward his face was inches from Yugi's, who blushed at the look on his face. Being so close to the person he was supposed to hate the most was hard work when he looked so mischievous like that. It made him want to understand the Yami.

"I have, in all my afterlife, never been slapped." He said it so calmly, so coolly, so simply Yugi was the one to be surprised. It was shocking to know someone who was now the oldest being on the planet had never been slapped.

Yugi blushed and pushed him away, not liking to be so close out of fear of being found out he mumbled, "well someone had to knock some sense into you! And you deserved it anyway. You shouldn't steal kisses and run. It's bad."

Yami raised an eyebrow and smiled knowingly. "I'll keep that in mind for next time."

"Will you now?" Yugi glared sharply.

"Oh yes, had I known you would have been so upset about me going away without a proper good bye I would have stuck around for a proper kiss."

Yugi's face ignited in flames of embarrassment now. "T-that's not what I meant!!!" He said defensively.

"Oh? So what did you mean?" Yami looked at him calmly.

"T-that doesn't matter."

Yami smiled viciously, "oh yes it does."

"Stop saying 'oh' before every sentence!!!" Yugi pouted, that was something that was beginning to grate on his nerves. "And why the hell not?"

Yami tisked and shook his head, "Yugi-chan you really need work on your manners. I personally detest foul language."

"Good for you! And I 'personally detest' that 'oh' thing you keep doing so we're even. Happy?" Yami gave him a 'no not really' look and Yugi continued. "But you didn't answer my question. So stop avoiding it an tell me why it matters that you know what I meant."

Yami kept a straight face and said in an anticlimactic sort of tone, "for next time."

"There won't be a 'next time' if I can help it," argued Yugi.

"Unfortunately for you, you can't," there was a to serous facial expression, and his voice didn't help much either. Suddenly Yugi understood why he was as powerful as he was. Hesitantly, in a attentive, on his toes way.

"W-why not?"

Yami smiled, fully aware that was going to be the next question asked. He answered completely in a nonchalant way. "I, being the Yami and all, have speed up the process of acquiring surfs to make my life easier." He took out a piece of paper, and the fingers of dread were interlaced about Yugi's body in a paralyzing grip. "Mutou Yugi, from this day forward, you are my faithful servant. Understand?"

Yugi let his jaw drop, but no words came out. Oh, he understood all right. And that is exactly why he was going to fight with every ounce of his being. 'Good luck Ryou; sorry you'll have to figure out the rest for yourself. Let the gods be on our side, and forgive me for not being there.' As the thought faded into his mind he knew his world would never be the same.
