Unexpected
Chapter 3
'September'
Gone: 5 Weeks even
Jamie was sitting in the waiting room of that hospital. She'd finally made the appointment she knew she should have made over a month ago. Now she was waiting.
That's when her name was called. Silently she walked over to the room they ushered her to. Once there her new doctor came in. Her old family Doctor retired and this man, a man she barely knew, had taken all of his patients.
She didn't like doctors or hospitals. She hated them and avoided them with a passion. Being there reminded her of that fact.
"So, what seems to be the problem," the Doctor asked.
"I'm pregnant. At least, I think I am. I need a confirmation," she told the Doctor who nodded while looking bored. Then he pulled out a medical scanner and ran it over her. Then a confused look crossed her face.
"You are… about six weeks if these readings are correct. However, these results are… disconcerting. Who is the father?" the Doctor asked. She couldn't help but think about the time frame. Six weeks… that would have been during the start of Spock's Pon Farr.
"Spock, a Vulcan," she stated a little distracted. The Doctor straightened up, tensing. She saw disgust flash across his face even while she was distracted. That told her how obvious it was.
"Hmm," he said. "Are you going to keep it?"
"Why wouldn't I?" she asked, distracted by the thoughts in her head. She answered him automatically.
"Hmm. To each their own, I guess," he muttered while going over to a table. He was speaking so low she had to strain her ears to hear him. "You'd think she'd want to get rid of some emotionless freak's child." Anger rose up in her at what she'd just heard.
"I'm finding another primary," she said standing. He turned to look at her, eyes wide. She knew that he had realized she'd heard his little speech. "I will not be doctored by an ignorant xenophobe."
With that she went to the door and just before she opened it she turned to him. "Have a nice life doctor."
Then she walked out angrily. The head of the hospital saw her leave angrily and went into that room to have a word with the Doctor. This was because Jamie always put aside some of the earnings she made and gave them to the hospital at New Years. She was one of the only regular donators though she knew randomly they were given large amounts from random contributors.
