Chapter 4:

Honor

Zuko was standing on deck, looking out to the black sea and the blue moon. He was thinking about what his uncle had told him, that all his ancestors had tried and failed at finding the Avatar. But he was confident that he would find him, he wanted to go back home, to regain his honor. If he went back home he would be able to regain his honor as the Prince of the Fire Nation, and that's all he wanted. To be recognized, to have servants, to have the perfect life that a prince should have.

Misa went out on deck, hugging her maroon coat as she walked towards Zuko. The cold ocean breeze blowing her hair through the wind, she was going to be gentle while talking to him. Iroh had told her that his attempts in talking to him were futile, so now it was her turn. "Zuko?" she said to announce her presence.

He didn't show any sign that he had noticed her, as he stood there looking at the moon. Misa sighed and shook his arm repeating his name. After this he finally looked at her with distant eyes. "Are you alright?" He didn't respond but only stared back at the flowing waves. She only sighed knowing that this eas going to be harder than she thought.

They stood like this for a while, in a comfortable silence, watching the waves and feeling the rocking of the boat. There was a strong breeze of wind and Misa cringed at the coldness. "Are you cold." It wasn't a question, it was a statement. Misa shook her head and continued to stand there, her hands curling around herself.

Zuko sighed and took off his own jacket and placed it on her shoulders. Misa stiffed but slowly relaxed feeling the warmth flowing in her body. "Thanks." she said quietly but he only stood there not aware of what she said. She sighed, it was harder than she thought. She couldn't find the words to ask if he was okay, he was very stubborn and got mad easily and she didn't want to ruin their peace with shouts.

After another few minutes she finally spoke. "Do you really think he's out there?" she said, He turned to face her slightly, already knowing who she was referring to, and nodded, "Of course I do. He's out there and I'm going to catch him." Misa sighed, she really didn't want Zuko to get let down again by false leads. "Why do you doubt it?" Zuko questioned a little too harsh than he intended to.

"Because it's not the first time it's happened and he would be over than 100 years old." she responded. He scowled and fully turned around, "I know he's out there!" he yelled. MIsa lifted an eyebrow and shouted right back at him, "I thought we were having a conversation not a shouting match!"

Zuko huffed in frustration and lowered his voice, "He's out there and there is nothing you can do to convince me otherwise, Misa." Misa thought this was going to be a calm conversation she was totally wrong. "Fine then, I was only trying to help. But if it's not him don't you dare come crying or whatever to me!" she yelled. "Fine!" he shouted right back at her.

They both turned at opposite directions and crossed their arms. After staring out at sea for a while and Zuko still furious about how doubtful Misa was, he heard a laugh. When he turned to look at the girl he had just fought with he was surprised to see her laughing. Her hand was covering her mouth as she giggled. Zuko furrowed his eyebrows, wondering why she was laughing right after she had yelled at him.

"Sorry-" she managed to sputter out, "it's just- haha- so funny." Her statement didn't make Zuko understand at all why she was laughing. He wore a confused expression while watching her still laugh. "We always end up fighting don't we?" she said after calming down. Zuko sighed and rolled his eyes, nodding while watching her smile at him. "Yeah, we do." he commented.

She let out a small chuckle and sighed. "I hope we do find him… The Avatar I mean." she said linking her arm with his. She used to always do that when they were kids. At first he would always push her away saying that he didn't like it. But after a while he stopped pushing her away and accepted it with a sigh. And today was no difference. "Why do you want to go home so badly?" she asked furrowing her eyebrows a bit.

He stared at their linked arms and sighed. "I want my honor back and nothing more." Misa couldn't explain the pa in she felt but she pushed it aside. She nodded slowly and they stood in a comfortable silence once again. What she didn't realize and Zuko did, was that her eyelids were getting heavy and she was slowly falling asleep on his shoulder.

Zuko rolled his eyes and leaded her towards her room. "Sleep." he said once they were in front of her door. She sleepily nodded and proceeded to open her door, not before giving Zuko his coat back with a mumbled 'thanks.'

Once her head touched her pillow she drifted to a dreamless sleep.

"Again." Iroh stated as Zuko stood against two of his crew. Misa was sitting next to Iroh drinking tea waiting for her turn to fight. Zuko blasted fire at the guards but missed completely, which made her snicker. The guards then attacked him with blasts of fire from their fists, but Zuko dodged them, making him smirk towards Misa's direction. He then back flipped landing right behind them.

Iroh sighed and stood up. "No!" he began to say, "Power in firebending comes from the breath. Not the muscles. The breath becomes energy in the body. The energy extends past your limbs and becomes fire." With this he blasted a flame at Zuko's direction but not hitting him. Misa stared in fascination, she had always loved Iroh as a tutor, she thought he was so wise and she wanted to learn as much as she could from him.

"Get it right this time." he said going back to sit down. But of course Zuko had something to say. "Enough. I've been drilling this sequence all day. Teach me the next set. I'm more than ready." MIsa tuned out the rest of the conversation since she was tired of hearing how 'ready' he was and that why did she have more complicated drills than him and blah blah blah.

When she came back to earth she saw Iroh eating roast duck and Zuko with a very annoyed face. She sighed and stood up, "Can I drill now?" Iroh without lifting his face from his duck nodded. Zuko took her seat next to Iroh mumbling beneath his breath. She laughed at his face and he only glared at her.

She rolled her eyes and winked at him before doing a perfect back flip managing to shoot a flame from her foot. It was the perfect aim, as it hit one of the guards right in the chest. The other guard ran towards her and punched. She ducked it and sent a flame right at him, and she watched as he fell.

But it wasn't over. She sensed the once fallen guard right behind her and turned right when he sent a burst of fire at her. Her eyes widened slightly and she dodged it with her arm. Then she ran towards him and blasted flames harder than before so that it would knock him out. And it did.

She turned to see if there was anyone else but there wasn't. She smiled and walked towards Iroh and Zuko. "How did I do?" She asked innocently even though she knew it was perfect. "Very well child." Iroh said smiling at her. "Hear that Zuki? He said 'Very well'!" Zuko only rolled his eyes and mumbled under breath.

"We found him!" Zuko said bursting into her room. Her head snapped up from the book she was reading, her eyes widened completely and jumped up. "Are you serious!?" she said running to him and grabbing his arm. He nodded and told her to get ready for battle.

The second he left she put on her training clothes not bothering to wear her armor. The guy had to be at least 100 years old! She was so surprised that he was actually out there. After everything that she said to Zuko she felt bad. She was planning on apologizing later. Right now they had to capture the Avatar.

She looked in the mirror and fixed her red crop top and black leggings. She put on her black boots and ran out to find Zuko. "How long till we arrive?" she asked seriously, now she was in battle mode. There was a village right ahead that was getting closer and closer by the second, Zuko was looked through a telescope and said, "In 10 minutes." She started to smile until she noticed that if they captured him she would be going home.

Her smile faded as he noticed that she would have to leave the life she had been used to for 3 years. She was going to have to live in the palace again. Without a father, without a mother, without family, The only people she could consider family now was Iroh and Zuko; but Zuko wanted his honor and nothing else so she doubted he would hang around her.

She was brought out of her thoughts when they hit a wall of ice causing everyone to in the village to run in chaos. Zuko and her went below deck to disembark, as they waited for the gangplank to drop Misa breathed in completely in battle mode. They were going to find and capture the Avatar.
