Y'know what I hate? Waiting forever for a new chapter of a story I like, and when the newest chapter is uploaded, all I get is a meezely author's note throwing excuses on why the story's not being continued anymore.

Oh... wait a second...

That's correct, guys and girls, you've read the summary correct, you went on my profile and read the story updates correct, and yes, you saw Link holding a dog as my new profile picture correct. (If I've changed my icon, then that's a little embarrassing...) What does all this mean, you ask? Well the profile picture because isn't he just the cutest thing you've ever seen?! *^^* Oh, and that dog is pretty cool too...

What everything else means is that I won't be continuing Family Portrait anymore. I explained briefly on my profile why I won't be, but that's not enough for you guys, is it? The reason is NOT because I've become bored of DOA. Oh no. I still love that series to bits, even if I try to deny it. However, there may be a couple of other video game series than have recently won my heart over. Again though, they AREN'T the reason why I'm not continuing with FP. It really does come down to what my profile says.

When I finished Hitomi Assassin, I was so excited to start writing the sequel, yet, as soon as I got the prologue up, I knew it'd be very unlikely that I'd get the story finished. I don't know, writing the story felt more of a chore than fun, unlike it's predecessor. Then I put it on hitaus, and by then, I already said to myself, 'Yep, this story's going nowhere' and only now-ish did I decide to finally come out of the closest, sit you guys down, and tell you, 'Sorry, I'm straight. Oh, and I'm not continuing Family Portrait. Have a good one!'

Now I know what you're thinking, 'The summary?! Shiden dies! Kasumi turns insane! Ayane is emo! This'll haunt me until the day I die!' No, it's not. Because I plan to tell you everything I had planned. So now you can die in peace, knowing exactly what would've happened to those poor babies that Ayane was dancing around with. The reason I'm doing this is because for all the other stories I read that abruptly ended, the author says NOTHING on what'll happen next, and this makes me so annoyed, especially when the chapter previous has the main character jump off a flippin' building because the man he loves is GOING OUT WITH ANOTHER DUDE AND YOU WANNA JUST LEAVE IT THERE WITH NO WORDS ON WHAT THE HELL HAPPENS?!

*gasps* Deep breaths, CC, deep breaths... *sigh*

So, trying to make this as short and as sweet as possible, the woman that Hayate and Ayane find wins the trust of the ninja (well, as much as a ninja can trust), and no more children are kidnapped for a while. Stuff happens, Shiden is concerned because Ryu (or someone) has been finding innocent people murdered with no trace of the killer. This is unimportant at first, but then Ryu starts suspecting Hayate to be the murderer. Hayate is all like 'Say what?' and denies any of it. Around the same time, another clan/organisation against the Mugen Tenshin has made itself apparent. Another thing that has made itself apparent are the cracks in Kasumi's sanity, as she starts subtly bullying Ayane, making her believe that Hayate thinks nothing of her and would willing use her for his own selfish intentions, just the same as he used Kasumi to kill Hitomi.

As time passes, this isn't so subtle anymore. The woman who Hayate found turned out to be working for the clan against the Mugen Tenshin, and captures Kasumi and Ayane... or Hayate... I forgot... either way, with the help of some Ryu and Momiji action, they are all freed and bought back to the Mugen Tenshin village. Yet, during her captured stay, Kasumi formed an alliance with the enemy because she's so damn insane and poisons Shiden, unbeknownst to anyone. Because nobody managed to pick up on this, when people do realize that Shiden is dying, the poison has taken too much effect on his body for it to be cured. After more unexplained deaths pointing to Hayate and more Kasumi bullying Ayane, things start getting whacked up.

The Mugen Tenshin and Ryu and Momiji are at war with this other enemy clan. Hayate starts to notice that Kasumi isn't in her right mind, especially when on one of their missions together, she kinda stabs him, hoping to kill him. It's here that Kasumi reveals that she was behind all the murders of the innocent people, Hitomi's father included (the prologue chapter. Y'know, the old man is Hitomi's father, the gravestones are Hitomi and her mother, and the hooded figure is Kasumi. Sheesh, didn't anyone guess that?!). She put the blame on Hayate because she blames him for what she's going through, rightfully so too. Momiji (or Ayane) comes to save Hayate, Kasumi flees, and as he ponders on what happens, Hayate is all like 'WTF just happened?'

Whacked up shizz happens, until the poison has completely taken over Shiden, and he has no control over himself. Because of this, he attacks his own family, and battles Hayate to the death. Let's just say Shiden dies, and it's not because he accidentally stabbed himself either. Practically traumatised over just killing his own father (I'm really sugar coating this for you, aren't I?), Hayate is prep talked by Ryu to continue with the real mission of defeating the enemy clan. This couldn't go any worse, because Ayane is depressed from everything Kasumi told her, and after seeing what Kasumi done and has become, she's really starting to feel the burn. She is hospitalised after trying to take her own life (more sugar coating), meaning she's unfit to go on missions. It's up to Hayate, Ryu and Momiji to clean up this mess. Oh, they clean up all right. Kasumi rants on to Hayate about what he made her do, telling him about how it destroyed her to kill Hitomi. She tells him how she poisoned Shiden, and like the insane chick she is, relishes from the fact that Hayate killed him, saying how she wanted him to feel the same way she felt after taking Hitomi's life, and then goes on to say that she wants to kill him too. (This is the same chick from Chapter 1, giggling and hugging Hayate.) With no other choice than to fight his sister, Hayate defeats *ahem, kills* her. Ryu and Momiji took out the big guns of the enemy clan, and come back to find Hayate with Kasumi.

During the duration of the story, Ayame watches her family crumble to dust. The last chapter has Hayate burn the family portrait seen in Chapter 1, he and Ayame talking with each other as they watch it burn - Hayate blaming himself for all that happens, Ayame also placing the blame on him, but at the same time offering him comfort, the two practically being the only family left. And so ends Family Portrait.

Wow, that story sounds so cool! Maybe I should write it! Oh... wait a second...

Yeah, so that's how the story would've played out. Writing it out makes me realize just how long it would've been, and just how dark it would've gotten. It's all very psychological - just the way I like it. If there was one thing I was looking forward to, it'd be Momiji. I was going to make her say one line that was rather flirty towards Hayate (because I kinda ship those two...) but oh well. I want to use this dark psychological stuff for another story of mine now. It's so cool!

Now I know what you're thinking 'OMG she's never going to write fanfiction ever again!' Yeah... you couldn't be any further from the truth! I don't plan on not writing fanfiction ever, because lets face it guys, I'm an awesome writer! Say it with me, 'CC's an awesome writer.' Aww, stop, you're making me blush! I'm not that good... I don't have anything planned, but I could write a oneshot on Hayate x Momiji or another Shiden x Ayame thing... But I don't really wanna stick with the ninjas all the time, Mila is awesome too! And I don't actually hate Hitomi like I did when I first started writing Hitomi Assassin... Oh and Helena, where's her love? I love her! :D Oh and wait, why stick with DOA? Because we said so. Can't I write for another fandom? NO. ... Some fans you are... Anyway, before I start posting more fanfics, I gotta catch up on all the fanfics you've written!

TLTR: I'm not continuing Family Portrait because everyone dies. The End.
