Yu-Gi-Oh: The Other Hunter

Episode 4: Attack of the Corn

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Oops, wrong script.

Nellie was walking through Heartland, looking at Number 51. She put it away when she saw Captain Corn's Nature Crooz. She waited in line for ten minutes but couldn't find Captain Corn. But she didn't know that he saw her.

Captain Corn was looking through a camera image at Nellie. In her extra deck there was a glow.

"So this lass has a Number," he said, "Time to go hunting."

Corn pushed a button and saw Nellie's boat go in a separate direction than the others.

When Darkness is all around you

[Kurt is surrounded on all sides by black apparitions. He is dueling the leader]

And you don't know what to do

[Kurt is giving a puzzled look at his field and hand]

Just look towards the light

{His extra deck begins to glow brightly]

And it will carry you through!

[The glowing silhouette of Number 24 appears behind Kurt]

Ignore the shadows!

{Kurt has a glowing card in his hand. The light burned away all the shadows around him]

Ignore the doubt!

[Numbers 24, 28, and 93 are glowing behind Kurt, Eddy, and Nellie]

Just never give up

[The scene shifts back to the duel. Kurt draws]

And follow your dream!

[Kurt, Eddy, and Nellie pose in front of a large ankh overlayed with a 24]

Nellie new something was wrong as soon as her boat made a turn in the opposite direction as the others. She assembled her own NESU and put on her Duel Gazer.

What's going on?

The boat stopped at a platform where a strange pirate was waiting. He basically looked like a large corn cob wearing pirate gear and smoking a cigar.

"Captain Corn I presume," Nellie said.

Corn nodded, "I challenge you to a duel for your Numbers Lassie." Then he activated a Duel Pad.

Nellie: 4000

Captain Corn: 4000

"Ladies first," Corn said.

Nellie nodded and drew, "I'll set a monster and two cards and end my turn."

Corn drew, "I activate the field spell Corn Parade."

The field turned into a giant corn field.

"I summon Papa Corn (ATK 1200). When I have a field spell on the field Papa gains a thousand attack points (ATK 1200-2200). I attack your facedown."

A hideous beast was flipped.

"You flipped Worm Opera," Nellie said, "Now your monster loses 500 attack points (ATK 2200-1700)."

"I'll end my turn then."

Nellie drew. Her card was Double Summon, which wasn't good because she only had one level 4 monster in her hand, but with the plan she had in mind she didn't need two, "I summon Worm Dimikles (ATK 1700). I attack Papa Corn and use Waboku to keep my monster from being destroyed."

"I use the effect of my Corn Parade to negate an attack against a plant monster," Corn countered, "It's a-maize-ing what my corn monsters can do."

Nellie face palmed, "I end my turn with a facedown."

Corn drew, "I summon Cattycorn (ATK 1500)."

A monster that looked like a mandrake appeared on the field.

"I overlay my monsters and xyz summon Number 50: Blackship of Corn (ATK 2100)."

A pirate ship that looked like a corn cob appeared on the field.

"I activate the effect of my monster, I remove an overlay unit to destroy your monster and you take damage equal to its attack points. Time for Worm Dimikles to walk the plank

Nellie: 4000-2300

"Now I attack you directly."

Nellie: 2300-200

"I end my turn"

I can't take another hit by that monster's effect. But I'm not sure how to make a comeback.

A 28 appeared over Nellie's heart and she heard a voice in her head, "Your face down card."

Nellie checked her face down card and saw it was Worm Duplication.

That might work. It summons a copy of a Worm monster on the field from my deck. I could either Number 28 to flip it face down or Number 51 to drain his monster's attack strength. But his Number is a plant and Corn Parade will negate my attack.

The Number on her chest changed to 51 and pulsed.

Of course! I placed a Mystical Space Typhoon in my deck. But I go to draw it.

Nellie put two fingers on her deck and slowly drew. When she saw her draw, it was what she needed, "I summon Worm Jetelikpse (ATK 1200). I activate Double Summon to allow me to summon Worm King (ATK 2700). I now activate my face down Worm Duplication to special summon another Worm King from my deck. I now overlay my Worm Kings to xyz summon Number 51: Dream Eater (ATK 2000)."

The dark fiend appeared and pointed its cane at the Black Corn.

"I activate the effect of Dream Eater, I can deduce your monsters attack points to zero and my monster gains those points. (ATK 2100-0) (ATK 2000-4100)."

"You may have all the fire power," Corn said, "But with my Corn Parade I can negate your attack."

"Sorry Captain, but a storm's a brewing. I activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your Corn Parade!"

"No!"

The corn field around the duelists blew around and disappeared, "I attack Black Corn with Dream Eater!"

Captain Corn: 4000-0

When the attack went through the Black Corn and hit Captain Corn, he exploded into popcorn. Nellie pulled off her Duel Gazer and saw that Captain Corn was gone and the popcorn was real.

"Coward," she muttered as she climbed up the platform and grabbed Number 50. Then she grabbed a piece of the popcorn, "At least the popcorn is decent."

Nellie pressed a button on her Duel Gazer and called Kurt. When his image came up his hair was sticking straight up, Bride of Frankenstein style. She managed to refrain from laughing.

"Hey there," Nellie said, "Your hair is… interesting."

"Sparky here has a very electric personality," Kurt explained, "Have you beat Captain Corn?"

"Yep. I'll meet you at Cologne's. See you then."

"See you."

Kurt's image disappeared from the screen and Nellie put her Duel Gazer in her pocket. She looked around and couldn't find a door.

"How do I get out of here?"

On the top of a roof a dark figure stood out against the bright sky. He had seen the entire duel and noticed her ability to communicate with her Numbers.

"She could be useful to our cause." A dark voice said.

I understand. She was talking with another Hunter. They will be going to Princess Cologne's.

"Then we shall take the Princess's Number first. Then the Hunters will have to face us."

As you wish.

A purple 0 appeared on the figure's right hand and a portal opened behind him. He turned and went through the portal before it closed behind him.

Kurt: Who's this guy?
