THE BOY WHO MURDERED LOVE
.
CHAPTER 4
.
"Hey, sorry we couldn't make it to celebrate your birthday Sak."
"Sorry we're busy right now."
"I can't come and get you right now, call Ino's mother and ask her to come get you. She should be able to check you out of school."
"I really can't talk to you but I love you."
"No Sak I won't be there."
"I got called into work. Sorry."
She was sitting in her room, crying. She was not, only crying for that girl, but for herself. There was so many times that she has gotten a text, a note, or a phone call from her parents breaking their promises. 'It's not right that they don't at least come home every once in a while' she thought. 'Why couldn't Sasuke break up with the girl in person? Matter of fact, why couldn't he stop playing with a girls feelings' she thought some more. Why had he turned this way? Maybe she should ask herself why she reacted like that. I mean it wasn't her he was breaking up with but when she thinks about it, he did deserve it. He needed to cool down a little. She let out a choked laugh. She then wiped her tears away and went to wash her face. She was thinking about going to sit at her spot but she didn't want to risk the chance of seeing the person she didn't want too. So she decided to go to her balcony. She went out there and leaned on the railing. It was getting dark, so the moon was coming up. She looked up at up at the sky. The moon was fully out. She stared at it. She wished she was like the moon. It was shining brightly as if it was smiling. Oh how she wished that was her. She wished she could smile brightly like that all the time. She felt a tear slide down her face. She wiped it away. She wasn't going to cry no more.
She was now sitting on her balcony, covered in a blanket. It had gotten a little chilly after about an hour of her standing there. A few tears drop out her eyes here and then but she didn't cry. She heard her door open. She expected Ino to come and see what was up with her sooner or later.
"Hey Ino, I'm sorry I didn't answer your calls." She didn't hear a reply so she got up and turned around only to face the person who she was trying to avoid.
"S-Sasuke!" she said as she stood shocked. "How did you get here?" she asked.
"Ino gave me your address, Hinata gave me her spare key, and you didn't lock your room door." She looked at him with a thoughtful look. She had to make a mental note to get revenge them two. "Anyway I came to see why I was drenched in ice cream earlier."
"Because you deserved it." She said as she pulled on the cover.
"For what? You told me that it would teach me not to play with girls feelings as if you were mines. Luckily that girl didn't care." He said as he placed his hands in his pocket. She looked at him then briskly turned around. She looked at the moon, staring at its brightness.
"Yeah lucky you…" she said.
"What's up Pinky?" he asked as he walked up behind her, only a foot away. She didn't say anything. "Come on, I deserve to know why ice cream got dunked on me." He said annoyed.
"Why?" she said.
"Why? Cause you dunked ice cream on me!" he hissed.
"No, not that. Why do you choose what you do? Why do you go around and act like you? Why do you choose to break up with them over the phone?" she said.
"What? What does that has to do with you? Why should I tell you?" he retaliated.
"You're wasting their time in giving them hope. You probably even promised that they were going to be the one and only. It's stupid for them to believe you but you should be man enough to say it to their face!" she turned to him with her head down and hands at her side. "Those dumb girls, they trusted you and even loved you or whatever even after all your break ups in the past three days… t-they wanted a chance to have you for themselves and having one on one time with you!" her fist were balled and she looked up with hate and sadness showing in her eyes. Sasuke didn't miss that moment she choked on her second they, nor did he miss that her eyes were puffy, red, and glistening with unshed tears.
"Why tell them lies?!" she took the foot towards him and pushed him. "Why go that far?!" she punched him in the chest. "Why, you jerk?! Is it because you don't care?! Are you trying to have fun?! Is one not enough?! Are promises really that unimportant?! Is it the fact that they don't fit in your busy schedule? Huh?! Those are excuses! Only excuses!" she yelled punching him in the chest again, then again, and again, and again.
Sasuke looked down at the girl who was hitting his chest. He realized, the moment she said that the girls wanted one on one time and that it was maybe because of his 'schedule', that she was talking about her parents. He knew how it felt. His parents weren't around much either. They were barely parents; more like business partners. He felt her pain of wanting his parents to keep the promises of them going to the amusement park and not bailing for work. And this girl in front of him still had that same hope he once had, compared to him, who had given up long ago on those false promises. He grabbed her arm that was about to hit him again and without giving her the chance to react, he pulled her into a hug.
She was shocked. He had pulled her into a hug. She felt herself crack at that moment. Everything she felt had come out. She started crying the rest of the tears that she tried to hold back. She cried because she was alone all the time. She cried for those times she had high hopes only to get them crushed. She cried at the fact that her parents weren't there when she needed them, because she was tired.
She didn't know how long they were standing there; she just knew that he held her the whole time. He whispered comforting words in her ears as he held her. He promised that everything would be alright and that she wouldn't feel like that anymore now that she has let it ago, that he would make sure that was the way it was.
They were sitting on the balcony, her in between his legs and his arms wrapped around her shoulders, with the blanket wrapped around them. They were just staring at the stars, sitting in silence. She felt comfortable, sitting there with him.
"Hey, I saw a note attached to your room door when I came in…" he said breaking the silence. He moved around to pull the note out of his pocket and opened it in front of her. She read it.
Sak,
We have been called in for an important business trip. This is a potential ground breaking deal so we couldn't stay. We heard crying when we past your room. We hope that you are okay. See you when we get back and we'll go for ice cream first thing when we get back.
Love,
Mom and Dad
They had heard her crying yet they did not stop in to see what was wrong. The business trip was more important than their daughter of course. She doesn't even believe that they'll take her for ice cream first thing because they'll be tired and she'll have to go to school and other things that can happen and when they made plans it was always cancelled by work.
"I think they shouldn't allow you around ice cream, it can be dangerous." He said. She let out a soft giggle.
"Only if I'm around you… but on a serious note, thank you and sorry for the unexpected sweet shower. I just… you're confusing that's all. You go around the school breaking every girl's heart without a second thought." She said as she pulled her knees to her chest. She thought about the way Karin broke his. He was basically doing the same thing. Next thing she knew, she was pulled back into his chest, making her let her knees go.
"Aww, it looks like someone is getting jealous." He whispered in her ear making her shivered.
"Could never! You can have your little fun with those girls. They're the ones throwing themselves onto you! But when you break up don't ever do it over the phone and stop being so harsh. Sluts have feelings too!" she said. He chuckled at the sluts comment. She smiled. They had talked about nothing in particular. She just said anything that came to her mind that wasn't related to the girls he was breaking up with now. She thought about asking him about it but she felt that she would have to mention that she knew about his breaking up with Karin and how she saw.
"Hey, what time is it?" the pinkette asked as she yawned and struggled to keep her eyes open. Sasuke looked at his watch.
"It's almost 1am." He said.
"Oh…" she said trying to fight off the sleep. She knew it was going to be impossible because of all the crying she had done. Soon she had let the sleep take over and she was knocked out.
He was sitting there staring at the girl in his arms. She looked as peaceful as she slept. He let himself smile. He sat like that with her for at least 30 more minutes before he decided that he should get going. He carefully picked up Sakura, along with the blanket, as he got up. He opened the balcony door and walked in, closing it with his foot. He looked around her room as he was walking towards her bed. Sasuke had to adjust to the darkness. She had a simple room. He could see that it was a simple green because of how the bright moonlight lit it up. When he got to her bed he placed her in it. Once he done that he took the cover from around her and tucked her in. he looked at her as she snuggled into the covers as he finished. He smiled. She reminded him of the time…. He shook his head he shouldn't be thinking of her. He made one last glance at Sakura. He moved her hair out of her face. He smirked when he saw her smile in her sleep when he did that. Something about this made it feel like this was natural. As he was about to leave her room, he heard Sakura whimper. He turned around. She had started to make faces in her sleep.
"No… Please don't… leave…" she said. Was she really saying that in her dream? He went to her and bent down to look at her face. He placed his hand on her face.
"Hey Pinky…" he started too say but hushed after seeing Sakura snuggle her face into palms. He had to hold back his laughter. He then shook her arm. The least he could do was let her know that he was going for the night.
"Hey, Pinky. Hey. Can you hear me? I'm about to leave." He said he waited 20 seconds and didn't get a response so he got up. When he turned around a hand grabbed his wrist. Sakura was rubbing her eyes.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"Uh, home."
"But it's late?" she said but asked just in case she had been sleep longer than she thought.
"Yeah, so your point is? Look I'm a guy so I can defend myself."
"But…" she said as she sat up still dazed with sleep.
"But what?" Sasuke asked annoyed.
"What if I wanted you to stay and spend a night?" she asked.
"Do you now?" he said with a raised eyebrow. He could tell Sakura's mind was more focused on sleep than rather the complexity of the question she had just asked. She simply nodded her head and patted her bed on the left side of her.
"Are you serious Sakura? You need to go to sleep, you're not thinking right." He told her, but it seemed like she wouldn't take no for an answer. He sighed and thank god he had decided to where sweatpants instead of jeans over there. She smiled a little sleepy smile and lied down. Sasuke took off his shirt and folded. He placed it on her dresser. He got into bed next to her, but also leaving a least a 12 inches in between them. He looked at the teen, now sleeping, beside him. It was amazing how this girl made him want to comfort her, or how she made him want to promise that he'll be there for her, or how she had gotten him to spend a night without being fully awake. He felt himself falling asleep. Uchiha Sasuke didn't realize but Haruno Sakura was slowly making her way into his heart.
She woke up when the sun had hit her face. She groaned and tried to cover her face by digging deeper into her pillow. She was out of the sunlight's vision and was about to fall back to sleep on her warm pillow. 'Wait… warm pillow?' she thought, then she looked up to see Sasuke there asleep. No shirt on. She was about to scream but stop when he moved. After she was sure he wasn't going to move again. She slowly looked down, glad to see that she was fully clothed and that he had on his sweatpants still. She sighed. She looked at his face. 'He really did look like an angel, especially when he's sleeping' she thought as she giggled. When she giggled that caused him to move again, only this time he had placed his arms around her waist. She tried to get lose but she couldn't. She started to panic. What if her parents walked in? She had to wake him up.
"Sasuke… hey, get up." She started. He didn't budge. She poked his cheeks. "Hey sleepyhead, wake up…" still nothing. She lightly smacked his face. Nothing happened. She tried almost everything; then she thought about something someone did to her when she was little. She poked him in the forehead with two fingers. His eyes slowly opened.
"Itachi?" he whispered. She didn't here.
"What? Anyway can you let me go so I can fix breakfast and you can leave?" He stared at her. He just had and image of Itachi poking him in the forehead a minute ago.
"Hello?" she said waving her hand in his face. He looked down.
"What if I don't wanna." He asked smirking. She blushed.
"Uchiha! Stop playing and let me go." She hissed in a whisper as she struggling against his hold. His smirked widened a little as he let go sending her tumbling off the bed.
"There you go Pinky." He said as he watched her fall.
"You bastard!" she said as she jumped up and stormed to her door and stopped mid-way.
"You okay Pinky?"
"Does it look like I'm okay I have a boy in the house and he spent a night! My parents-"
"Aren't here, remember?" he said as he got up to get his shirt. Sakura thought about it and remembered that he did give her the letter saying that they went on a business trip. She felt completely stupid for having that panic attack for no reason. She went on with her stomping and went down to the kitchen. She looked in the refrigerator and saw that they had eggs, tomatoes, cheese and green onions still. She took them out deciding to make omelets.
When she was almost done Sasuke had just came down.
"Please tell me that you didn't go through my personal stuff." She said looking at him suspiciously.
"Nah, that seems more on the level of a Kiba thing to do." He said. She laughed. He watched her as she finished. She sat a plate in front of him.
"And no it's not poisonous." She said as she gave him a fork. He took a bite.
"Tomatoes." He said.
"What?" she said as she sat down.
"You added tomatoes." He looked up at her.
"Don't tell me you're allergic?! I knew I should've asked you before I made this! God I always mess things up! Why d-"
"Calm down Pinky, I like them." She just stared at him with a blank look.
"Oh…" she said.
They ate in total silence. When they were done he washed the dishes. His phone started to ring and he looked at the caller ID. It was the girl from the ice cream store. He had forgotten all about her. He answered.
"Hey baby." she said with a seductive tone.
"About that… I think-" he got hit with a towel. He turned to Sakura and mouthed 'what'. She mouthed 'not over the phone' he sighed but none the less listened to her. "We should meet up somewhere and talk."
"Okay! Where do you wanna meet?" the girl asked excited.
"The coffee shop on Fourth Street at 1." He said.
"Okay see ya soon!" she said as she hung up. He glared at Sakura who just stuck out her tongue.
"I'm leaving." He said as he walked to the door. "Oh and give these to Hinata." He gave the spare keys to her.
"Oh yeah." She said remembering that Ino and Hinata were the reasons Sasuke got into the house. "Oh and have fun on your date!" she yelled as he was getting ready to pull off. He just stuck his middle finger out his window and sped off. She laughed as she closed and locked the door. Having Sasuke around wasn't as bad as she thought it would be.
