AN: Well, like I said, this is a double update but this chapter is admittedly shorter as it's mostly building.
After clearing her desk, it had taken some time before she had actually worked up the nerve to plug the flashdrive into the laptop Emiya had insisted she have and something he had painstakingly showed her how to use. Now she simply had to wait while it installed and then she could see what Shirou's last gift entailed.
'I wonder what you were thinking when you stopped by Emiya, were you scared or were you your normal self, unable to care about yourself and only thinking of others? Is that how they killed you? I wonder...' Rin pulled herself from her thoughts as she noticed the window disappear and quickly she pulled up the flashdrive and-

-cursed for only a moment when it turned out to have a password to access the only folder on it as she felt like pulling out her hair.
B-L-A-D-E? No, it was too obvious it seemed as it failed.
S-A-B-E-R? No again, she thought for so that would be it.
"Oh come on Emiya!" Rin remembered one of the things she hated about Emiya then. Whenever he felt he needed to hide something, he went to almost extreme lengths to do so, once trying to get a padlock to his suitcase before Rin talked him out of it. Afterwards, she had to destroy the padlock he brought behind her back. "What could you pick as a password?"
R-I-N? No, nothing.
I-L-L-Y-A? Again, failure.
K-I-R-I-T-No, it only goes up to five characters.
'What did you pick Emiya...could he have picked that?'
E-M-I-Y-A?
Access Granted.
Huh, turns out he did. Weird, she would never expect Shirou of all people to put his family name as a password, he tried his best to hide it when he got to the Clock Tower. But it turns out he used it for his password.
Please enter second password.
For the first one at least.
"Dammit Emiya, what else could it be?" Rin yet again found herself cursing her former boyfriend.
S-A-B-E-And this one only went up to four letters.
'Maybe he picked something simpler, something people normally wouldn't guess or even now but what? He was an open book and the only thing that took a while to figure out was...HIS PARTNER!'
C-R-O-W.
Access Granted: Welcome Rin Tohsaka.
Accessing Restricted Files for Rin Tohsaka. One moment please.
"What the?" There were only two folders, one was labeled Video for Rin and the other was labeled Not before the video, Rin.
'Hmm, it seems he knows me to well.' With that thought in mind, Rin opened up the first folder and clicked on the video inside it. Waiting only a moment as he screen suddenly went black before a new window appeared and she saw Shirou for the first time in years.
He had aged, his white hair still in the same style but longer than it was usual, some of it hanging down his neck despite his efforts to prevent it and his skin had lightened if only slightly, something caused by the lack of sunlight he must have been getting as she would recognize the Einzbern home anywhere, they were all modeled the same after all especially after running for her life in one of them. His eyes were still the light gray she remembered them as if slightly darker but it was his face that was the most important. He seemed less worried, less concerned and more happy, something she had only seen for a few months after they had arrived in London, before he had finished his training to be an Enforcer. It almost hurt to see him like this again, it hurt to see him likes this when he was already gone.
"Rin...if you're watching this then I didn't manage to rescue Crow like I intended."
"So Crow was captured after all? But by who? Crow, even without Blade, was a formidable opponent."
"I'm so sorry Rin...I'm so sorry."
"No, he didn't, he couldn't have fa-"
"It's just that...I've been so happy these past few years with the Einzberns...they've been like a family to me and it's been so relieving not to have to wake up and fight that I just lost contact with you I suppose."
"He did..." She knew it was almost impossible to resist but it was still somewhat shocking to learn he let them all but trap him.
"No wonder they resorted to taking Crow prisoner if he had fallen in with the Einzberns, they would have ripped them to shreds if they attacked him there. They needed to draw him out and to do that they took his partner, one of the few people they knew he cared about but the only person they could take without a large investigation being launched. Crow was someone who wouldn't be missed and they knew that."
"I tried to have Crow pass on a few messages for me but they must not have reached her."
"Of course they wouldn't have, the Einzberns loved their cages and you were in one of their finest, they kept it clean of anything that would make you question it."
"After a few of them Natasha was upset at me and I couldn't write much more...I could hardly call Crow without Natasha there with me."
"So that was it then? You had finally thought of himself at the worst time it seemed."
"I-I just didn't want to hurt her. Rin...I-I love her and I don't want to leave. I know it's probably not real but I just can't help myself...she's so...so...so..."
"I understand, I would have done the same if it happened to me. The Einzbern always knew their prey and always excelled at keeping them once they caught them."
"I'm so sorry Rin...so sorry."
"There's no need to apologize, I understand it all now."
"I wish I could tell you how it's been but I hardly got enough time to do this, let alone all the files I added to this thing over the past few years."
"I could guess how it was. It had to have been-"
"Paradise." She knew it and it looked like they still thought the same.
"It has been nothing but paradise ever since I've gotten here Rin but..." Shirou couldn't stop his tears, unable to keep his emotions in check and he seemed to take a minute to try and compose himself.
"It's okay to cry Shirou, stop holding it in." Even if knowing she couldn't actually touch him, to comfort him, Rin reached out, her fingers pressing against the screen.
"I...I can't let them kill her." Shirou seemed to regain control of himself, suddenly determined as steel was in his gray eyes.
"Good, then go be the hero I know you can." Rin smiled at the recording, knowing the look Shirou had in his eyes and knowing he was ready to do anything to get Crow back.
"I'll drop this off at your place when I come through London before hopefully swinging back in with Crow and maybe the three of us can hang out for awhile before I head back to Nat before she gets worried." He was trying to keep himself together now and he could have fooled her if she didn't know him better, she knew he was struggling not to break down. He must have known he was probably going to die.
"I would have liked that Shirou." She would have enjoyed it a lot, getting to meet Crow and Shirou, getting to learn the woman behind the name.
"Anyway, since you're probably not going to see this..." On screen, Shirou was fumbling for something, trying to grab something before seemingly dropping it and laughing for a moment as he leaned down to pick it up.
"So, still a a klutz in the end, just like I thought you would be Emiya." Rin laughed despite herself. It seemed some things never changed and one of those things was that Shirou could drop anything if it wasn't either a weapon or he was cooking.
"Here's a picture of them. Natasha and she has our little girl Anna in her arms...they're wonderful Rin, I can't imagine living without them now." Shirou was smiling, one filled with pure happiness as he looked at the picture he held in front of the camera, one of a beautiful white haired and red eyed woman holding a girl who couldn't be more than two in her arms in a rather large bed. The woman was smiling at the camera, nothing but joy and an almost childlike innocence in her red eyes.
"It's okay to want something Shirou, it's okay."
"I'm living in a gilded cage and I love it Rin, I love being trapped here with Natasha, with Anna, with everyone here."
"It's alright to like it Shirou, they knew what they were doing, they planned all of this."
"They even brought back Illya, Rin. They brought her and her mother back and she wants me as a son...ME, she wants someone like me as a son Rin and I can't say no to her! I just can't!"
"They gave you everything you could have wanted Shirou...they gave you a family and it's okay to want that, it's always been okay."
"I know it's probably to late but...Rin, please...forgive me for everything I said. I was just trying to help you, to stop holding you back, I just couldn't bear being with you knowing it didn't help you at all."
"You self sacrificing idiot."
"I just wanted you to be successful, to be happy with what you did without someone like me holding you back."
"I would have been happy with just you Shirou...I wouldn't care what else happened as long as I was with you."
"I just couldn't past it up again Rin...I'm sorry for everything I put you through and hopefully I can talk to you when this is all over. But, just encase I don't make it out of this..." He had to stop, he had to bring himself back together.
"Shirou..." Rin knew what it was right, trying your hardest to hide what you were really feeling. She did it for years in Fuyuki.
"Thank you Rin, thank you for everything you did for me. I wouldn't be anything without you." Shirou gave a small smile as he spoke, one he seemed to have reserved for her.
"Damn right." Rin had the same one on her face, the two were nearly identical with it after all.
The screen went black moments later, Rin merely sighing as she turned away from the laptop.
"Shirou..." Allowing her tears to fall, Rin buried her face in her hands.
"Why are you always such an idiot, Shirou!"
She wouldn't get an answer, she knew she wouldn't and so looked up,the next folder in her sight.
Somewhat hesitantly, she opened it.
AN: So, with all that, how was it? After such a long time without updating, sorry about that by the way, I want to know how any readers think of how this story is going as there was probably a major shift to some people, especially, in my eyes, to Shirou's character but I think I made it clear about why.
Anyway, onto response on reviews:
Telron: Yeah, they were pretty bad.
Seijiri: You're right and that's the reason she didn't push him when he came back.
BlueChappy: I'm glad it was so good, personally, I think it wasn't that great but I have a general negative view of anything I write.
Iskander06: It's between the modified events of the final battle between Millennium and Hellsing and the resurrection of Alucard.
michelous: Glad you liked it and hopes these chapters lives up to your expectations.
coronadomontes: Thanks, hopes these chapters are good too.
ideagetthe: They know a bit more than that but since he doesn't use much else they don't know everything they could.
Hishin Trueflame: Yeah, so I'm not going to do that at all. For all intents and purposes, the Vampire Alucard is and therefore the Vampire Seras is are completely different from Dead Apostles in Typemoon world. I'm sorry if this disappoints you or puts you off the story but it's how I'm writing it, I'm entitled to do a few things differently as the author.
Hope the chapters weren't bad. Criticism is appreciated if they were.
Peace.
