Hello all my lovelies!
*avoids thrown objest*
I know! I know! It has been WAY too long since I've updated.
I could go into this long explanation on how I graduated collage, got married, and had a baby and that's why... yah what ever. Here is the long overdue update and I promise I will be better.
Thanks! And review, please.
Birthday Wishes
I tried to pay attention in class, really I did. But between my anxiety and excitement and feeling a good portion of Roxy's anxiety and excitement, it was hard to concentrate. Even though I loved Nualas history lessons since she actually lived through it, and most of the time had first hand knowledge, and always had awesome stories. By the last hour of classes, Roxy, Rossa, and I were practically hovering in our chairs. Not to mention Roxy's leg was shaking so bad I was surprised the screws hadn't vibrated out of the desk by now. But when the time came for us to file out of the room. Roxy waited until we were back in our room before jumping onto her bed with a yell, startling the few cats that followed us. Though Aslan and Zunar did not seem too fazed by it, O'Malley, DC, and Azrael jetted into the closet. Angry for the interupet of their naps.
"We are going out there!" Roxy's body bobbing up and down in excitement, Aslan poor thing trying to walk across it at the same time finally gave up and just laid down. Digging his claws into Roxy's flowery comforter from her thirteenth birthday.
"They have not given us an answer." I smiled, walking up to the side of her bed.
"They are considering it!" She grabbed my hand and hauled me onto the bed with her. I laughed, kicking off my shoes, started jumping with her. We motioned to Rossa to come over, also pulling off her shoes, and we both pulled her up with us. The old mattress squeaking so loudly in proteset I was half concerned Mom would yell at us to keep it down.
"I want to go to Hot Topic and Game Xchange." Roxy jumped higher in the air.
"I want to go to the movies and Barnes & Nobles." I professed, throwing my arms in the air.
"You would." Roxy laughed. I gave her a playful shove.
"I want to go to Michael's." Rossa said shyly. Giving her own little bounces.
We went on like this for a while, spouting our wishes and dreams, until we fell into a pile of giggles. A comfortable silence falling on us with our personal thoughts running wild.
"But what if they say 'no'." Rossa whispered, breaking the silence like a cold wind. I felt her excitement waver.
"What would... you want to do instead?" I questioned, not really having an answer myself but wanting to break the ice suddenly in the room.
"I don't know." Rossa finally shrugged. "Maybe… order more fabric online."
"Maybe get Abe to take us out on the boat again." Roxy offered.
Placing my hand over my heart in a dramatically, I shot up from the bed, startling the others.
"I would order a bunch of movies from eBay, bake frozen pizzas, and not leave the living room for a week." Roxy smiled.
"Sounds like fun. Ice cream, too."
"And make a blanket fort." Rossa pitched in, tossing pillows at us.
"Yah, that is what we will do." I offered them with a smile even though I knew Roxy could feel how I really felt.
Settling on the bed, quietly back in our thoughts.
The break between class and dinner was torture.
"Let's go." Roxy jumped off the bed with a huff. "I can't sit here or I'll get worked up thinking about it."
Without another word, we followed Roxy to the roof.
Each one of us taking our place at the edge.
Arms wide, eyes closed.
"Not it!" Our eyes flying open to see who was the last to touch their nose.
"Rossa!"
We shared a glance before giggleing. Twisting in the air, Roxy and I landed gracefully on the tiled roof twenty feet below. Well, Rossa landed gracefully twenty seconds after us, Roxy and I were still a little heavy on the landing. Taking off at a dead run, Rossa easily passing us to tap Roxy on the sholder, over the slate roof. Weaving up and around every inch all the while making nonverbal challenges to eachother as we took on each challenge of the roof while still keeping out of eachothers reach.
Sometimes jumping down to a lower level, sometimes racing up a steap incline, and sometimes jumping from tower to tower. Which was more challenging than usual because of a thin layer of ice still clining to winter.
We weren't out of breath from the exerting ourselves, thanks to our genetics and the vigorous training Dad put us through, but from the giggling and animal taunts. Growling as we came up behind before tapping, or tickling, our prey and usually recieveing a growl in responce. Sometimes it sounded more like a dying animal, oh the anguish of getting tagged, especially for Roxy.
Roxy was a lot bolder this time around. Usually she got "it" all the time because she was the cautious of us but today it was like she was lasor focused on the game instead of what she really wanted to think about.
She didn't pause jumping towers to get away from Rossa, who was tagged by me after Roxy got me. Being a twin with abilites like ours could be annoying when trying to develop stratagies. In a game like this, it was all instinct. Nothing planned ahead, all done in the moment. That was the only way Roxy and I could play. Rossa and Ada had the same problem, though he usually didn't play these games with us.
Rossa thought she had me cornered, but I jumped down to a lower level then transfered the inertia to help me jump and latch onto a gargoyle out of her reach. Swinging me to another tower while she directed her attention to an easier target. Or so she thought becasue Roxy then used a slab of ice to slid from her reach. Roxy bellowing a triamph over the would be tagger without realising too late her foot would catch. She went flying, though she was able to recover with a tuck and roll, which gave Rossa the opportunity to get her.
Roxy sat for her five second count so Rossa could get a head start with a small growl of her own.
A shrill bell cut through the crisp air. All three of us stilling our steps to regard one another. Before suddenly changing our game of 'cat and mouse' to 'see who can get to the kitchen the fastest'. Rossa took the lead, jumping to a balcany below. Roxy and I following suit, though Roxy wan't as enthusiastic. Stutter stepping before taking the plunge. Instead of hopping down to the next level, she burst through the balcony door, taking the enternal route while Rossa and I continued on the external. Hopping down the last story then taking off for the nearest door.
This was part of the reason mom couldn't keep us in shoes. Our escapades like this were too hard on them.
Rossa was faster, but I was better at turns. Getting the inside, I overtook her. I could feel Roxy coming closer. She was on the same floor but closer to the stairs. I needed an alternate route.
Rossa and I were neck to neck, coming to the stairs, Roxy alread at the top. Almost as one, Rossa and I jumped over the banaster to touch down on the first landing.
Hearing Mom yelling "No running inside" didn't slow us down. Because, technically, we were jumping now. Jumping the last landing, Rossa and I looked at eachother. Nonverbally acknowledging we tied before calmly walking to the kitchen. Roxy caught up with us at the kitchen.
No one said anything when we all took our chairs. Except for Mom scrutinizing our worn shoes.
"Playing tag on the roof, again." Mom did not necessarly approve of it, but she did not discouraged it. We just smiled, waiting for everyone else to arrive for dinner.
Dad was the last to arrive, wiping his hands on a rag before taking his seat. Mom gave him a pointed look, making him get up, with a grumble, and head to the washroom. Washing his hands before taking his seat again.
Mom and Nuala carefully dishing out everyones food before they took their own seats.
No one spoke as Dad sat next to Roxy and Mom sat next to me while Rossa sat between her parents.
Ada and Trevor quietly obvserving like they were waiting for the good part of the movie to start. The cats sat in the corner. Taking a few steps like they wanted to see what scraps they could salvage on the floor but not too sure about the tension in the room.
"Here is the thing." Mom finally spoke up, once everyone was half way done. Except for Ada, he was already on his seconds, Dad on his thirds. I could hear Rossa breath hitch and I felt Roxy hold hers.
"I happen to have a business trip in that area in a few weeks. So here are the terms." We carefully turned to Mom.
"Nuala, Dad, I will go with you. And we will all wear disguises put together by Nuala and Rossa. There will be no talking to anyone unless they talk to you first, and then keep it to a minimum. We will stay together and when it is time to go, it is time to go. We may not be able to go to all the places you three want to go to, but we can work something out. Any questions?"
Roxy squealed and grabbed Dads neck. For a big scary guy, we was a big fluffy teddy bear. A huge grin breaking out, showing big pearly white teeth, patting Roxy's back.
"Thank you!" I gave Mom a hug as well, breaking away with a smile. I could tell Mom was not happy with the whole thing but she could not help but smile at our excitement.
"Personally I am not a fan of shopping but... this should be fun." Even Rossa gave a little squeal, which surprised even the cats who scurried away with a yelp.
