Harry lay back in his bed later that night. It had been a tiring day of shopping with the Greengrasses but honestly, when Daphne heard the word store all other plans for the day went up in smoke. His eyes slowly drooped into his vision as he drifted closer and closer to sleep. Finally he surrendered his conciousness to it and closed his eyes for good.

As he slept he dreamed oj the first time he had met the Greengrases. It was several years ago, when he was about seven. His family, as one of the older purebooded families in Britain as well as the family of the Boy-Who-Lived, had been invited to a Mid-Summer gala at the ministry of magic. His parents would have preferred to leave him at home but they could not afford to as Lucius Malfoy would jump on the chance to point out how they were neglecting one of there sons in an effort to tear them down. Therefore his parents, grudgingly and full of glares his way, were forced to dress him up in an uncomfortable monkey suit and drag him along with them. Once they arrived at the gala however he was told to make himself scarce which he did gratefully.

For the next few hours Harry sat around and read the book on magic theory he had snuck with him. So enraptured with the book was he that he did not notice his family depart through the floo near midnight. Nor did he recogize that all the guests were slowly starting to trickle out until it dwindled to just the minister, the Malfoys, and the Greengrasses. Finally Harry looked up from his book as the minister waved goodbye to the last two families and departed for his home. The Malfoy patriarch shot him a sideways glance but ushered his family past to one of the fireplaces to floo back tho their manor.

Finally it was only the Greengrass family and Harry remaining in the grand atrium of the Ministry where the gala had been held. Harry at this time had finally come to realize that he had been left, again, and walked up to one of the fireplaces to floo home when he realized, he didn't know the floo address for his own home. Terror setting in on him he sat down infront of the fireplace and began to cry silently at the thought of having to sleep in the ministry all night until someone could come and help him contact his parents.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around. Staring at him with warm brown eyes was Cyrus Greengrass, patriarch of the Greengrass family. He pulled him up by the shoulder and steered him over to where his family was waiting.

When they reached them the woman, whom Harry presumed was his wife, crouched down so she was on his level and looked him in the eye. "Now why would a young man such as yourself be alone at this time of night?" she asked in a soft voice.

Harry, still wracking with silent sobs could barely mumble out "My family left me and I cant remember my address so I have to wait here until morning to get back."

The woman stood up and glanced sideways at her husband, an incredulous look on her face. 'Who would just leave their child in a random building with no supervision?' The woman knelt back down next to Harry and asked "Well whats your name? Maybe we can help."

Harry looked down at the floor, tears now dried and staining his face in streaks where they had fallen. "My name is Harry," he whispered, "Harry Potter."

When he said his last name the entire family gasped. The Potters? Gilded family of the light left one of there children alone? Unthinkable!

"Well then,"

Cyrus said looking down at the little boy next to him and his family, "Why don't you come home with me and my family and you can at least sleep in a bed tonight. We will bring you back up here tomorrow." Harry looked up at the Greengrass patriarch and smiled wider than he had in a while.

Harry woke up to sunlight streaming in through his window and lighting on his face as well as his twin shrieking throughout the halls about some unimportant thing he thought he was entitled to have. Leave it to him to ruin a perfectly good morning. Harry hurried to get dressed so he could go over to the Greengrasses, they had never had a chance to interrogate him about the results of the test from Gringotts and he was sure they would want to know now. He ran down the stairs as fast as he could glancing out a window as he went. The sun had not even risen yet, that was good. James hated nothing more than rising out of bed before 10:00 and would do so slowly so he had time to leave before they noticed him.

He got to the living room and ran up to the fireplace. He grabbed a handful of floo powder and threw it in. Emerald green flames surrounded him as he yelled his destination. As he was about to leave he saw his mother peak sleepily into the room, her eyes widened as she saw what he was doing. She yell "HA-" before he was taken up the fireplace and away to the Greengrass household. He stumbled out of the fireplace and would have fallen had Dobby, used to his horrible floo entrances, not been waiting there to catch him.

He regained his footing and looked around for the Greengrasses. When he saw none he glanced questioningly at Dobby. Even though it was early the family was usually up by now. Dobby pointed toward the grand dining hall, Harry nodded his understanding and walked into the hall. Sitting around the table in their usual spots was the entire Greengrass family eating breakfast. Harry smiled at them and sat down at the place that had been deemed early on his place. He loaded up his plate and as he began to eat the Greengrasses watched him. Once he had cleaned his plate and all the food was gone and the dishes cleared (courtesy of Dobby) Cyrus cleared his throat.

"Harry, would you mind explaining this to us?" as he said this he withdrew the parchment from Gringotts on which Harry's inheritances and abilities were written from his robe. He slid it to Harry who unrolled it and stared at it contemplatively. After a minute he drew in a long breath and finally spoke.

"I have absolutely no idea." He half smiled and slid the paper back to Cyrus. "I was as surprised as you were to see all of this on here. I had guessed at a few of them but not nearly all. I guess it is just a mystery."

It looked like Cyrus had something else to say but before he could speak Astoria spoke up "Who cares? It's Harry's and nobody can take it from him. Why do we need to investigate every pathway he could have gotten these from. We haven't started and I'm already bored."

Everyone turned to look at her and starting with Harry, one after another, everyone started laughing. "She's right" Daphne said "It really doesn't matter where it came from. What matters is that you have it."

Cyrus reluctantly agreed but anyone could see a fire burning for more knowledge on this topic in his eyes.

The next few weeks leading up to September 1st passed quickly for Harry and the Greengrass family and all to soon it seemed the day was upon them. Harry had to spend the morning with his family so he did not get to see them until they reached the train station. As soon as the Potter family walked through the barrier for platform 9 3/4 they were mobbed by dozens of reporters and fans clamoring for Charles. Harry took this oppurtunity to sneak away from his family and go find Daphne and the others. He found them waiting a few yards away looking on in amusement as he struggled to free himself from the crowd.

He scowled playfully at them and proceeded to stand still so Diana could hug and kiss them goodbye, all the while crying her eyes out. Cyrus hugged Daphne and shook Harry's hand and pulled him close "Not to much trouble this year huh?"

Harry smiled at him and shrugged. He and Daphne departed to go find a compartment as quickly as they could so they didn't have to sit with strangers.

Surprisingly the train ride was relatively peaceful, interrupted only twice. Once by a bushy haired girl that seemed a little bossy looking for a toad and the second by Fred and George Weasley whom Harry knew because their parents were friends.

When they arrived at the castle they all got off the train and walked towards a giant of a man shouting for the first years. They stepped into a boat and were joined by the bossy girl and a timid boy holding a toad. With a wave of his frilly pink umbrella, the large man sent the boats forward. The passed a wall of ivy and were greeted by the most incredible sight many had ever seen. Hogwarts in all its glory, each window twinkling with candle light and the lake dancing with all the reflections. They docked at the base of the castle and climbed a large staircase and were greeted in the main hall by a stern looking woman in emerald green robes.

"Thank you Hagrid" She said to the man who had brought them here. Hagrid tipped his hat to here and turned around and walked back to the boats. The woman turned and looked at all the students amassed before her and took a breath.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. Here you will further your magical education in as many ways possible. In a moment you shall be sorted into four separate houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. While you are here at this school your house shall be your family. If one of you does well you shall be awarded points, if one of you does poorly however or breaks any rules, points will be deducted. Now, look sharp and I will go see if we may begin."

She opened the great doors behind her and entered, closing them as she went. Everyone started murmuring to themselves and their friends, giving theories as to what the sorting was like. A minute passed before the teacher returned "We are ready for you now" She said and led them into the great hall.

AN: Well that is as good a place as any to stop. Sorry it has taken me so long to actually update this. I also apologize for the mildly broken parts in the story where I switch from his abilities to them not caring and suddenly to Hogwarts. I find that to be one of the most boring parts to writeand couldn't write more of it. If there is a certain part that you think I got wrong, or I contradicted my earlier chapters, or I spelled something wrong, please tell me. I would ask that you only leave comments that will help me get better because I don't want to write poorly and you don't want to read something poorly written and mindless flame comments really do no thelp either of us. If you really have something that bothers you and you have to yell at me, PM me and I will respond as soon as I can. Thank you for reading this
