It had been a pretty tense night for Ash when he arrived at the Pokemon he arrived with Serena on her back that evening,Nurse Joy had immediately prepared a stretcher for her to be taken to the operating room to remove the poison out of her body

Ash had been waiting outside the operating room the whole time,he thought of nothing but Serena at the "Please be safe."Ash said quietly to himself as tears rolled down his eyes.

It was just then that Clemont and Bonnie walked into the hallway to see Ash standing there.

"Ash!"Clemont said as he and his sister ran towards him.

"Oh,Clemont..."Ash said with a depressed tone in his voice.

"I'm glad you're alright,it took us a long time to find our way here."Clemont said.

"That's because your "invention" took us to the wrong way and blew up!"Bonnie said with an annoyed look on her face.

"By the way,where's Serena?"the blond inventor asked.

"Serena...Serena's been..."Ash's voice dropped as he looked at the operating both understood what he meant.

"Oh no!What happened to her!?"Clemont and Bonnie said in shock.

"She...got hit by a lot of poison stings..."Ash said.

"Oh no,Serena!"Bonnie said with tears coming out of her eyes as she hugged her brother.

"Hey,don't cry Bonnie,we can't give up just yet."Ash said as he patted Bonnie's head.

"Ash is right!"Clemont said."We can't lose hope yet!"

Just then the group saw Nurse Joy exiting the operating room and the group immediately ran towards her.

"Nurse Joy!"Ash said."How was it,will she be alright?"

Nurse Joy remained silent for awhile,she had a sad face,they all feared the worst.

"She...she might not make it."she said.

"WHATTTTTTT!?"the group screamed at what Nurse Joy had just make it?No,that can't be possible,it can't.

"We tried everything."she continued."We used Antidotes,Pecha Berries,everything we could think of to get rid of the poison.""But I'm afraid that there's too much poison in her body and it has already affected most of her body."

Bonnie began crying at the fact that her best friend,no,more like the sister she never had,wasn't going to make it through this and Ash both remained silent and tried their best to hold back their tears.

"Are you Ash?"Nurse Joy asked the raven haired trainer.

"Yes I am,why do you ask?"Ash said.

"Serena wanted to see you."she said.

"Me?"Ash said with a surprised look on his face.

"She said she wanted to tell you something."Nurse Joy said.

Ash realized why she wanted to see him,it was time.

"Alright then,Pikachu stay here."Ash said as he removed Pikachu from his shoulder and placed the yellow mouse on the floor.

"Pika pi?"Pikachu said in confusion as to why his trainer didn't want him in the room.

"This is one battle I must face alone."Ash said to his partner.

Nurse Joy opened the door to the room and led Ash in.

"Take all the time you need."she said as she closed the door and left Ash in the room alone.

Ash saw Serena on the bed with a tube in her was extremely pale and her eyes were suddenly felt a strange feeling in him,was it guilt?Or was it couldn't went up to the bedside and sat down on a chair next to it.

"Serena,it's me."Ash whispered.

"You're late,Ashy."Serena said as she opened her eyes and smiled at Ash.

"Better to be late than never,right?"Ash said as he chuckled at that and nervously scratched his nose.

"I guess you're right."she said as she tried her best to sit up.

They both sat in silence for awhile and awkwardly staring at each other when the both of them decided to break the silence.

"I have to tell you something."they both said at the same time.

"You go first."Ash said.

"I...I've been meaning to tell you this for a long time now."she said."Ever since we met at the summer camp,I started to have feelings for you.""When I got back to Kalos,I couldn't go a day without thinking about you.""I like you Ash."Serena said with a smile on her face.

For a moment,Ash was surprised at what Serena had said,but then he remembered all the times she had been worried for him and cheering him on during his battles.

"Truth is,I like you too Serena." Ash said.
"You...you do?"Serena said in raven haired trainer he loved had never been oblivious this whole time?

"Every time I close my eyes,I always see your sapphire eyes or your honey blonde hair.""Every time you're in danger,I protect you."He began rolling down his eyes.

"But look what happened?""You were in danger,and I did nothing."he continued.

"Ash,don't blame yourself,no one knew what the Beedrills were going to do."

"I felt like it was my responsibility,no my duty to protect you."Ash said.

Serena was shocked at what he said,she had never knew she had always been Ash's priority all this started crying because she realized this may be her last chance to spend time with Ash.

"Hey,hey don't cry Serena.""It hurts me when I see you sad."Ash said.

"It's...it's just that all this time,you had always been there for me,telling me to never give up till it's over.""But here I am,accepting the fate I had been given."she said as more tears rolled down her eyes.

"Serena,remember what you asked me when we were at the Reflection Cave?"Ash said as he wiped the tears off her face.

"Will we always be together?"Serena said.

"Yes,and I said we would always be together."Ash said."Even if you aren't with me anymore,you're always be with me in my heart."

Serena was touched by this and wanted to hug Ash but suddenly her hands started shaking and she was coughing and her heartbeat on the heart monitor was suddenly increasing.

"Serena!"Ash said."No,no,no,no please,you can't give up just yet!"

"I'm afraid...this is what Fate has given me."Serena said with a sad tone in her voice.

Serena forced herself to move her hand towards her shirt which had a blue ribbon given by Ash tied on and she pulled the ribbon from her shirt and grabbed Ash's hand and placed the ribbon in his hand.

"Take...the ribbon."Serena said"It was the symbol of our bond."she said as she continued growing weaker.

Ash held her hand tightly and nodded at her."I will always have it with me."Ash said as he tried to force a smile for Serena.

"Thank...you...Ash..."she said as she suddenly lost all strength and her hand lost grip and fell off Ash's vision started blacking out as she said one final thing to Ash:"I love you."Before losing all conscious and laying peacefully on the hospital bed.
