"Looking back I have no idea how I got here. It doesn't even make any sense; Uhura wasn't supposed to have kissed me. I mean of course I'm irresistible, but Uhura's different and I didn't do anything different then I did the first time." Jim sipped back the last remaining drops of his drink and slammed the cup down on the counter. "Sometimes it just feels like the worlds against you, you know?" The bar tender gave him a confused look and shook his head as he cleaned out a glass.

"Life's tough kid." The bar tender picked up Jim's glass and took it away from him. "I think that's enough drinking for you." Jim sighed and turned around on his stool. Looking across the room he could see Uhura and a group of her cadet friends hanging out at a table in the distance. He cupped his hands on his lap, sighed and let his chin touch his chest.

"James T. Kirk," Captain Christopher Pike sat down on the stool next to Jim. "You know, I couldn't believe it when the bartender told me where you are." Jim sat up fast and looked Pike up and down as if he wasn't real.

"Pike!" Jim cleared his throat and tried not to sound to excited. "Look, I need to talk to you, something happened to me and I..."

"Hold on a sec Jim, calm down, you're making no sense."

"Pike I'm trying to tell you..." A sharp pain pulsed through Jim's entire head and he leaned over with his head cupped in both hands.

"Jim?" For a second Kirk thought he heard McCoy's voice but then he went back to hearing the captains.

"Jim are you alright? Jim? Hang on." The last thing he saw before he blacked out was Pike's worried face.
