Look, if I knew that it was gonna turn sideways, I wouldn't have gone.
You guessed it! Review Time BABY!
TheCrazyClan: This boy short? Dang! Also thanks so much for a choir peep! My people!
Reens: Awesome! This'll be fun! Promise!
I banged my head on the table. Not on purpose, mind you. I grabbed my bag and stood back up, looking Sally straight in the face.
"C'mon, it'll be fun! First Party of your senior year?" Sally pursed her light pink lips and leaned forward, letting her auburn hair fall bast her shoulders. "Pleeease?"
"If I say yes, will you quit bugging me about parties?" Sally started to nod. "For the whole year?" She stopped and pouted. "I got stuff to do. I;m not going to jeopardize my education by attending social events with you. Only Party, all year long."
"You're no fun, but fine. It's at my house. You'll be there, won't you?"
"Fine."
Sally jumped up and down in her spot for a second.
"You won't regret it, I promise!"
I hate parties. I have almost always hated parties. Not that they can't be fun for SOME people, but I just never really liked them. The loud noises you can't escape, the disorderly conduct of things, the messes. Oh chaos, the messes were absolutely terrible. Just because you wanted to have a good time doesn't mean you should trash the place that your host has so graciously invited you to.
Not that I have a strong opinion on that.
"Sophie! Hey!" Ruby was walking straight toward me, a big smile on her face. Her naturally white hair was pulled back by a red sparkly hair tie. "What are you girls talking about?"
"Uh, my party, this Friday? Back to school party? I put it out on Roar last night," Sally laughed, adjusting her blue crop top.
"Sal, you really expect people to show up to a party they just found out about? That's tonight!" Ruby put her hand down on the table, shifting her weight to cock her hip as she looked at Sally pointedly.
"Chillax, I've been planning and telling people since around two or three weeks ago. People know, Courtney even cornered me in the hallway the other day to ask me questions about it. The cheerleading squad invites themselves to all these kind of things."
"But Sal, you're on the cheer squad. Where would I be without my cheerleader?" Sonic came up behind Sally and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Lost, most likely, with your sense of direction. You're still coming to the party tonight, right, babe?"
"Wouldn't miss it," Sonic smiled, then kissed her cheek. I looked away and pretended to gag. It was always weird to see my brother "PDA"ing in the middle of the cafeteria during lunch.
"Oh shut it, Sophie," Sally laughed. "You're just jealous."
"Of you? Ew, I don't want my brother macking on me. No thanks."
"Like I'd want to kiss my sister. That's nasty, Sonia."
"Harharhar. Aren't you funny," I mocked.
"So wait, everyone but me is going tonight?" Ruby said it loud enough to attract our attention, but she was really asking Kien, who had come and sat silently beside her.
"I just assumed you were going, because it's Sally's party, and you two are besites," Kien replied, then chuckled deeply. "If you don't wanna go, I can take you to the movies instead."
"No I wanna go, it should be fun, I just feel left out is all."
"I'd never leave you out," Kien muttered, leaning in against her neck.
I turned. Now both my friends were macking on their boyfriends, one of those boyfriends being my brother, and it just... Blegh. My other brother was standing by the microwave, again. His weird friend Espio was right next to him. Espio was strange, he always wore a purple beanie and large black bracelets that looked like they would be on sale at Hot Topic. He had torn and tattered jeans and combat boots with a chain around his belt. His hands were shoved in his pockets, and Manic was so intent on staring at something that he didn't even notice me come up.
"Whatcha looking at, loser?" I said, then followed his gaze as he jerked his head around.
"Hey, sis, I wasn't looking at no one," he rubbed the back of his neck, a nervous tendency he tends to do. "Oh, look, ramen's done. better go eat. Hahahahahah gotta go bye."
"Why don't you just ask her out?" Espio said. This guy was smart and I knew he knew that I could hear him. I stared at the table Manic was looking at. That was... Amy's table. Hold on...
Did Manic have a crush on Amy?
Huh, food for thought.
later that night, I sighed deeply. I know I don't have to tell you, but Sally's party was not all it was cut out to be. The music was loud, and I couldn't get to the punch bowl before someone spiked it, so no not doing that. I stood against a wall, watching people dancing in her living room, one funny-looking dude was looking at the TV funny. This dude was probably tripping.
"Hey, beautiful," a dude looked down on me from his taller height. He was a little over six feet tall, which was plenty intimidating, for anyone other than me, that is. "Care for a joint?"
"No, I got a cop for a mom."
"Oh, my b. Seeya around," he scooted away.
There isn't a lot of peer pressure for drugs and alcohol and stuff like that. They're pretty laid back, actually. Still don't like the smell of that stuff, so I was about to leave when my best friend hopped up on her table and pulled her shirt off.
She must have found the punch.
"Listen up, boys. This is MY house, and if you hooligans want to disrespect it you better get it through your thick skull that I ain't messing around- What?"
A dude staring up at her called her name again and repeated his request.
"Sally, baby girl, dance for me," he cooed. She blinked, looked at her shirt in her hand, then at him, then back to her shirt, then down at her bra. She looked up angry.
That's my cue to go.
She hollared, and I heard a loud thud that I assumed to be the dude's head against the floor. Sally doesn't take being hit on likely. She has a boyfriend, after all. As captain of the cheer squad, she was a pretty fierce fighter because of her strength and flexibility. Wait, but if she was drunk, then that means...
I groaned, then turned around to break up the fight. Sonic was standing on the other side. We made eye contact, and dove for our respective foes. Sally pulled at the dude's hair, and I barely got her to let go before dragging her away. She huffed, her now loose hair falling in front of her face.
"Where's Ruby?" She scowled.
"She left with Kien when the music got too loud for her headache."
"Of course, abandoning me, like everyone else in my life. Stanley left me for three weeks for football camp, you left me for your job. Now Ruby's running away with her boyfriend," Sally turned on me. "Why did you leave me?"
"I had to work, Sal. I don't have super rich parents like you. It's a difference of circumstances."
She began sobbing.
"You left me, Sonia. You leff me. Look at all the people here! They don't really care about me." She raised her voice and turned on the people still having a good time. "All of you! OUT!" She slammed her fist down. "ALL OF YOU!"
The music shut off.
"You heard the lady. Get out," Sonic said from the stereo. Everyone sighed and started to file looked on with horror.
"Now they're all leafing me!"
"Alright you need to get to bed."
"So I'm gonna leaf you!" She pointed at Sonic and shook her finger. "You hear me? We're done! You were never there when I needed you! If you aren't ready to sommit don't be in a relationship with me! You were gone at a stupid camp when my mom died, you hear me? You were always late!" She started sobbing harder. "I needed... I needed you and... and you weren't there!"
Half the guests were still there and still in earshot of this brutal attack.
"Sal, I'm so sorry I had no-"
"Shut it, just get out of my house! I never loved you!" She screamed and fell backward on her butt.
I knew that was a total lie. She had loved him dearly. She would wake up early to say good morning on his phone before practice. She woke up in the middle of the night to comfort him when he awoke with nightmares. She always listened to him entirely, and made sure he felt loved and comforted on days when he was feeling low. She always tried to cheer him up. She loved him.
But Stanley didn't know that. He didn't know she was drunk. He didn't know that she didn't mean it.
So he ran out, as fast as he could go, which is very fast. He almost pushed someone over on his way out. I couldn't catch up to him and tell him the truth. I had to get Sally ready for bed.
Leave a review if you can! Makes my day!
