It is still rather late but I can't sleep at all. I make my way over to the Smithy to let some steam off(no pun intended). I need to figure out what all I am going to do about the dragon training in five days. There has to be something that I can do, right? Maybe Gobber can help, he is almost always forcing some apprentice to work this late as 'exercise for the future'. Plus he has always been like a father to me. Ever since my mother had died from a dragon attack when I was about two, Dad had been colder towards me, so Gobber filled the role.

As I make it there, I see that Gobber is talking to one of the apprentices, using his replaceable hand as a pointer now. I haven't been one since I was maybe thirteen or so. With me being seventeen now, Gobber was going to need to train another eventually. I get a little closer and see that it is little Gustav.

" Now you have to remember that if you overheat the metal, it will burn." Gobber was always the type to talk you through every single step with most of his students. Not me for some reason, but that is not here.

"But Master Gobber, how can you burn metal? I thought the point was to get it as hot as possible." Gustav is a little kid of about nine, but not as small as I was at the time ( actually, he is probably twice what I was ). He is of average size ( for a Viking kid ), his hair is reddish-brown, brown eyes, and a quick whit. I like the kid, all things considered. He is one of the only people that think that I would do any good as a king one day.

"Well, you are half right. You do want it as hot as possible, but if you heat one part more than the rest, it could either melt or make it become very brittle, aka burnt. If you do this then you have to either completely restart or scrap that section." Gobber pulls out a piece of scrap that has been burnt to show him what he means and what would have to be removed. He spots me and waves me over.

"Prince Hiccup, what would you do if you accidentally do this, not that you ever did for some reason. Would you scrap it or cut out the bad part?" Damn him, he is trying to show me off. Alright, let's give him some fun.

"Neither, I would make a folded Damascus. This is where you fold the metal while forging it. If the metal is properly formed, the metal is no longer brittle, making it safe to use. And as a plus, if you dip it in an acid, it will reveal the layers that were folded, giving it a cool pattern." The entire time I am talking, Gustav is looking at me like I invented Damascus. He stares at Gobber, silently begging Gobber to do it.

"Not yet, Gustav, you will get the chance to do that later on. Maybe you can ask the Prince to help with that when the time comes."

"Oh, please your grace! Damascus sounds so cool! Can you help me with it?" He gives me the puppy dog eyes. Damn the puppy dog eyes.

"Alright, alright, I will. But not until you get the basic downs. Ok?" He nods his head like it just came loose. Gobber tells him that they will continue tomorrow. I motion Gobber towards his office area( more of a hole in the wall, but it has a desk so whatever ).

Once we are there, I ask him," Alright Gobber, care to tell me who was it that told my Dad to let me join dragon training?" I try to sound like I have any authority but I think that I failed considering that Gobber is now smiling.

" It was me of course. I wanted you to be able to get to know this so that you would be able to know your subjects when you are king of one day, plus this would maybe toughen you up a little."

I need to tell him about the dragon but I can't. Even though I see him as a father, I still have no idea how he would react. Might as well just play it off for now. "Thanks, Gobber. I was just wondering if you had anything that could help me out a little bit?"

"Oh, yea, I have plenty that would help, since I am going to be the teacher after all. But I'm not going to give you an unfair advantage, that's cheating." He gets a thought, scratching his chin with the pointer. " But I can give you something to read that will help you. This won't count as cheating since everyone has access to this." He digs through some boxes before pulling out an old book. On the cover, it says BOOK OF DRAGONS.

"Here, read this if you want an edge. The only other one that will be taking the class and has read it is Fishlegs. Actually, I think he sees it as a holy relic from how many times he has read it." Well, Fishlegs was always curious about dragons, makes sense. Gobber hands over the book to me and I thank him before heading towards my room. At least this time I am not interrupted.

Once I am inside, I make my way over to my workbench and open the book to start reading the page that had opened out loud.

"Dragon classifications. Strike Class, Fear Class, Mystery Class, Power Class." Hu, interesting. So every dragon fits into this? Probably not.

I continue reading out loud. "Thunderdrum: This reclusive dragon inhabits sea caves and dark tide pools. When startled, the Thunderdrum produces a concussive sound that can kill a man at close range. Extremely dangerous, kill on sight." Flip a few pages. "Timberjack: This gigantic creature has razor-sharp wings that can slice through full grown trees. Extremely dangerous, kill on sight. Scauldron: Sprays scalding water at its victim. Extremely dangerous. Changewing: Even newly hatched dragons can spray acid. Kill on sight. Gronckle, Zippleback, The Skrill, Boneknapper, Whispering Death. Burns its victims, buries its victims, chokes its victims, turns its victims inside-out. Extremely dangerous, extremely dangerous, kill on sight, kill on sight, kill on sight..."

I just start to flip as fast a possible until I spot something that caught my eyes, the only page that was almost blank. "Night Fury: Speed, unknown. Size, unknown. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. Never engage this dragon. Your only chance, hide and pray it does not find you."

That is it. I am going to go back out there and look for that dragon. I don't know why but I need to know more, even if it kills me.

A\N:

Wow, this was a shorty, sorry for that. Not much to say.

Oh, and the review freaking out about the possibility of a Hiccup and Toothless romance, CALM THE FUCK DOWN. Nothing is set, Sayan Eighteen made Toothless female because of she simply prefer Toothless to be female. Or if you thought this because of how the description sets the peoples names, I couldn't get it to go any other way without parting and losing the mystery. No romances are set.

Is a Toothless x Hiccup possible? Yes, but other options are as well.

Oh, and be glad that I am relaying because the actual author freaked out just like you did. If you want to know what was said, let me know and I will PM it to you, or put it in next A\N if you want. Fair warning, Sayan Eighteen, the author, likes to mention crude things... See you next time.
