Hiccup's P.O.V

I started to wake up as the sun was shining down on my face, I yawned and stretched out my arms and legs. Wait. . . what? I look at my surroundings and noticed that I was in my bed, "Was it just a dream?" I thought to myself. I looked at my wrists and saw the rope burns, "I guess it wasn't a dream." I got up from the bed and went to the bathroom, looking in the mirror I saw a weak boy who is the Mayor's son, a boy who couldn't defend himself, a boy who always manages to screw something up, a boy who is weak and useless. I opened the drawer to find the switchblade in the exact place I left it, I picked it up sliding it open and running my fingers gently on the sharp edges. I hovered it over my left wrist again like last night, I lowered the blade to my skin and slid it across as I mumbled to myself as to how I was so useless, pathetic, weak, a screw-up, a nobody. I felt tears start to well up in my eyes, I sat the blade down on the counter. I looked down at my new cuts blood oozing out of them, I smiled at my handy work. " This is what I deserve." I thought to myself, I ran my index finger over the new wounds. Some were a little deeper than I had expected, others were not as deep. I turned the water on and ran my damaged wrist under the water, I didn't hiss at the pain like I did the last time.

For some reason, I enjoyed it, "No wonder people think I'm a freak." I thought as I opened a cabinet and grabbed gauze to wrap around my wrist. I walked over to my closet and picked out a dark green t-shirt, black leather jacket, dark jeans, and black converse. I looked through my drawer and found some bracelets that I use to wear in 6th grade, I slipped them on my left wrist just in case my sleeve slides down. "Hiccup, get your butt down here!!" Yelled dad as I was heading downstairs. "Coming!" I yelled back. Once I got downstairs I saw Astrid and my dad at the table waiting for breakfast, I put my backpack down beside the table. "Good morning Astrid." I greeted as I sat down. "Good morning Hiccup, " Astrid replied with a smile. I smiled back and looked over to my dad, to see him looking at paperwork again, "Typical." I thought as I rolled my eyes. Astrid and I talked a little before the maids brought out breakfast, Astrid and my dad started to dig in.

I only ate a little bit before I decided to drive to school, "Hey Astrid, would you like me to give you a ride?" I asked as I was heading towards the door. "Um. . . sure! I'll go grab my backpack." She said as she wiped her mouth with a napkin to get rid of the crumbs off her mouth. I went out to the garage and unlocked my truck. I hopped into my truck and started to back out of the garage, I stopped when I saw Astrid walking towards my truck. She opened the passenger's door and got up into the truck.

At the School. . .

Astrid's P.O.V

Hiccup and I went our separate ways when the bell rang, I headed to Art class, once I entered the classroom I was greeted by Snotlout. "Hey Astrid, would you like to hang out sometime?" He asked. "Um. . . thanks but no thanks, Snotlout." I said as I looked around for someone to talk to so I wouldn't have to talk to Snotlout. I spotted Heather and got up to talk to her, "Hey Heather, how are you?" I asked while I pointed back to Snotlout so she knows why I'm talking to her. Heather got what I was talking about and replied, "I'm good, would you like to sit with me?" She questioned as she gestured to the table she was about to sit down at. I nodded my head and grabbed my backpack and sat down by Heather. . .

After Class. . .

After art, I went to my locker and put my books away and headed towards the gymnasium, once I got there I heard a soft thud. I peeked inside and saw Dagur and his gang surrounding someone, it looked like a boy. I snuck inside and hid behind the bleachers and tried to listen to him. "When will you ever learn to not to talk back to me, useless!?" I heard Snotlout yell. Then I heard a smacking sound and a small whimper, I tried to see as to who was getting bullied by Snotlout. But I couldn't because of the crowd of boys, I hit my fist on the bleachers in frustration. Suddenly one of Snotlout's friends looked around and noticed me, I freaked out and tried to run out of the gym but someone grabbed me by my arm. "Now where do you think you're going?" He asked as he started to drag me back to Snotlout. "Well, what do we have here?" Snotlout asked as he looked at me. After he asked that I finally saw that it was Hiccup who was getting hurt, "Why are you bullying Hiccup?" I asked with a hint of anger in my voice.

"Why do you care about Useless?" Snotlout asked with a scowl on his face. "That's none of your business, just answer my question," I replied bluntly. "Well, one reason is that he a waste of space. Two, all he ever does is get in my way. Lastly, I just want him to leave the face of the earth." He said as he counted his fingers for the reasons. I scoffed at his reasons for bullying Hiccup, as I was about to talk back to him I heard a pained groan. All of the people in the room turned their heads towards Hiccup's battered body, he was turning over onto his stomach as he made a small pained grunt. "Hiccup, are you ok?!" I asked with a hint of worry in my voice, Hiccup grunted as he sat on his knees and slowly stood on his feet. "Yep, just peachy." He said sarcastically, I rolled my eyes at his sarcasm. I yanked my arms out of the people who were holding me, I walked over to Hiccup and grabbed him by his left wrist. He winced a little as I grabbed on, "Huh, that's weird, it's like he's in pain or something." I thought to myself as I started to head towards the nurse's office. Where are we going, Astrid?" Asked Hiccup who had a confused look.

"We're going to the nurse's office to get you checked out for any injuries," I said. Hiccup suddenly shook his head no with a scared look in his eyes, "No, no nurses office. I'm fine Astrid, really I am." Hiccup said as he tried to turn around. Before I could reply he ran off limping a little towards his locker. . .

Hiccup's P.O.V

I ran to my locker as quick as I could to get away from Astrid, I can't let Astrid or the nurse know about my home life. Even though Astrid will be staying with me for two months, I grabbed my backpack and shoved my books in and ran into the bathroom. I went into a stall and unzipped my backpack and pulled out the switchblade. . .

Flashback. . .

As I was grabbing all of my books for school I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed my face. As I was about to leave I decided to grab the switchblade and shoved it into my backpack.

End of Flashback. . .

I pulled up my sleeve, I was about to slice my skin again. Before I could I heard a group of guys chatting, I quickly brought my feet to my chest and held my breath. Hoping that they wouldn't hear me, "Can you believe Hiccup thought he could talk back to me and get away with it?" I heard Snotlout asked. "What a loser." I think Tuffnut was the one that replied. They kept talking about me, like how a big screw up I am and that I should just kill myself. I blocked all the noises around me and tears started to well up in my eyes, I covered my mouth with my hand before a sob could escape my mouth. Ten or fifteen minutes later they left the restroom, I lowered my feet to the floor and looked at my left wrist and brought the blade to my upper arm. I slowly slid the knife across my arm and applied more pressure than usual, I looked down to see that the cut was deeper than my other cuts. I ignored the fact and did again six more times, I now have twenty-one cuts on my left arm. Blood dripped to the floor but I really didn't care, I got up and went out to the sink and turned the faucet on.

I ran my arm under and washed away the blood, I opened my backpack and took the gauze out then wrapped my arm. I pulled my sleeve back down and zipped my backpack closed, after that, I exited the bathroom. As I was walking down the hall I heard footsteps approaching me, I turned my head around to see Astrid with a worried look on her face. "Hey, are you ok Hiccup? You were in there for thirty minutes." She asked with a concerned look on her face. "I'm fine Astrid," I replied as I tried to get away from her. The warning bell rang, thank the gods, I quickly entered my Math Class. . .

Third Person P.O.V

Astrid and Hiccup were walking towards his truck to head home, Hiccup opened the passenger's door for Astrid to climb in. He walked around to the driver's side and hopped on the seat and started the truck up and drove towards the house. It was silent along the way until Astrid broke the silence, "Uh, Hiccup?" She asked nervously. "Yes, Astrid," Hiccup replied. "Are you ok from earlier?" Astrid asked as she looked over at Hiccup. He nodded his head as his answer, "Are you sure? Cause it seemed like you were hurt badly." She asked again. Hiccup sigh in frustration, "Yes Astrid, I'm fine. Now just leave it." He said as he raised his voice a little. Astrid got that he didn't want to talk about it anymore and left it alone.

Haddock Residence. . .

Once Hiccup and Astrid made it to his house, he immediately slammed his door shut and went to his room and locked it. . .

Hiccup's P.O.V

After I locked my door I went into my bathroom and sat down against the wall. I was thinking about what happened today, "Ugh! Why can't I go through a day without my cousin bothering me?" I thought to myself in frustration. I got up from my spot and turned around to face the wall, I punched the wall as hard as I could to let out my frustrations. I winced when I punched the wall a second time and looked at my knuckles to see that they are bruised and bloody. I walked over to the sink and ran the water to wash the blood off my knuckles, I used a towel to dry my hands and saw that there were small gashes on my knuckles. I looked at myself in the mirror, I looked weak, exhausted and pathetic. I exited the bathroom and changed into camouflage sweatpants and a dark green t-shirt with a sweatshirt over it, I still kept the bracelets on from this morning. I went back to the bathroom and brushed my teeth then laid down on my bed looking up at the ceiling. As I was starting to fall asleep my dad barged in, "Hiccup, why didn't you eat dinner with us?" He asked sternly. "I wasn't hungry," I replied not bothering to look at him.

"Well next time you're joining us and I don't care if you're not hungry. You will eat when our meals are served, got it?" Dad asked with a raised eyebrow. "Yes, Stoick," I replied. As soon as he shut the door I fell asleep too tired to stay up any longer.
