A/N: Heyyy guys! I am so incredibly sorry that it has taken me so long to get another update for you guys, but it has taken me a long time to get this chapter written, especially because it does INVOLVE the Doctor. Like I said, I haven't quite gotten down the role of playing the Doctor and so I've written and rewritten this chapter, even if a lot of it is said from Donna's POV. The first half is the Doctor though, so please let me know what you guys think of being able to see some insight into the Doctor's head! I'd really appreciate it, and yes we are coming up on the part where the Doctor finally finds out about Elaine, although I'm not sure how I should go about it... Lol. But anyways! I sincerely apologize for the long wait, but as you guys probably already know... This story is really hard to write, what with the Time-Lords and the Daleks...

Also, as I was rereading through the prologue and the past two chapters, I wasn't completely satisfied with how I wrote them, so I'm considering rewriting them in the long run... What do you guys think?

And the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who! What were your opinions on it? Did you like it, love it, hate it? Lemme know!

This chapter is unedited, but I do hope you enjoy it nonetheless! Happy reading! :P

Chapter 3

"Am I ever gonna see you again?" Her voice trembled and her lips quivered, causing both of his hearts undeniable pain. He didn't like hurting his companions and he regretted every single tear they shed for him but there wasn't anything he could do to ease her pain. He had to be honest with her because after all, he was the one that destroyed her life, he was the one who had turned the bright and cheerful Rose Tyler into the broken woman standing before him.

"You can't," He told her, his hearts breaking all over again and tears he knew he couldn't shed, unfolding at the seams.

"What're gonna do?" She cried, her blonde hair blowing in front of her face, her tears coming faster.

"Oh, I've got a TARDIS, same ol' life, last of the Time Lords." The Doctor said smiling slightly, hoping that for just one single moment he could ease her pain.

"On your own?" She questioned, a slight smile making itself known before the tears blurred her vision and her sobs continued.

The Doctor nodded, not knowing what else to say. He didn't want to make any of this

harder for her, even if it meant he couldn't show how upset he was at just the idea of leaving her behind.

"I Lo-" Her voice cut off as her sobs came faster and the tears on her cheeks were replaced with fresh ones.

The Doctor's hearts beat faster, knowing what she was going to say. He'd always known, he'd just never wanted to admit it because what would be the point? He couldn't love Rose Tyler the way she needed to be loved, he couldn't be the husband that he knew she deserved. He was a Time Lord and she was a human, two people with very different timelines.

"I Love you," she repeated, her voice strong and firm.

"Quite right too," he told her. The Doctor couldn't let them part ways without her at least knowing the truth, even if he never saw her again. It would be worth it for Rose Tyler to know how he felt. He'd spent the better part of two years trying to keeps his feelings a secret from her, but now... Now as he was about to lose her, he knew he no longer had the power to keep his feelings buried. "And I suppose if it's my last chance to say it...Rose Tyler-"

And there he stood, back on the TARDIS, a slow tear descending down his lonesome cheek, his hearts breaking all the while. Rose Tyler was no longer in his line of sight and now that she was safely tucked away in her parallel universe, the Doctor could allow himself one tiny inkling of a minute to shed his tears.

Somewhere in the Vortex... On the TARDIS.

Donna Noble ran her hand in front of the Doctors face as the situation finally dawned on her. "Doctor, what're we gonna do? Who would take the earth from it's natural position? What kind of alien would do that?" Donna wasn't at all sure what kind of alien they were getting ready to face but she knew that with the Doctor in control, she didn't have any reason to be afraid. The Doctor would fix this and save Earth and the other 8 planets in the process, just like he always did.

The Doctor shook his head, pulling himself from his reverie. "I dunno, Donna... I don't exactly have a plan." He pressed a few notches on the control panel but nothing happened, the TARDIS continued to sit there. Immobible. "Well, then again, I never have a plan... Well, sometimes I do, and then sometimes I just run with it!"

"Oi, martian boy! We have to do something! We can't just sit here!" Donna squeaked, her heart racing at even the thought of being stuck on the TARDIS while her family was on earth facing who knew what kind of alien.

The Doctor shook his head. "I'm sorry, Donna. The TARDIS is dead, I can't get a signal and we're sitting in the middle of space. There isn't anything I can do." The Doctor tried relentlessly to get any kind of signal from the TARDIS, but nothing happened.

Donna's face became ashen and it became apparent to her that the Doctor really didn't know what to do and for someone who was a nine-hundred year old alien that always knew what to do when it came to facing various unknown creatures, Donna was dumbfounded. "But you always know what to do."

Donna looked at the man standing before her and when she recognized those regretful, dull-filled eyes, she knew that he was being honest with her. The Doctor really didn't know what to do and now the two of them were stuck floating through the vortex while her family was down on earth facing imminent danger. "Doctor... What're we gonna do?"

The Doctor pressed a few buttons on the console and sighed wearily when the TARDIS didn't make anything but a whine or a moan. "I don't know what's wrong with her, it's like she's just...gone."

"Gone?" Donna queried.

The Doctor shook his head, "but it's impossible. The TARDIS just can't be gone."

Donna walked towards the Doctor, unsure of what exactly he was talking about, but knowing something must be going through his head. "What do you mean by gone? Are we stuck up here?"

The Doctor didn't glance at her, running about the console, banging and pushing any button that he could find. "Oh, that's brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! But it's impossible, how could that be possible? You can't do that! It's... It's... Oh, but it's brilliant!"

"Oi! Doctor, would you mind babbling later and telling me what the heck is goin' on?"

The Doctor grinned and pressed a lever on the console, "she's recalibrating."

"Recal-Recali, what?"

"Recalibrating, remodeling herself, but why? She only does that when I regenerate, why would she be- oh. Now that's new... Haven't felt that in decades, not since... What? What? WHAT?"

Donna looked at the Doctor, her face full of confusion. "Doctor, what's going on?"

The Doctor's face suddenly became chalk white and his breathing became labored,

"that's just not possible."

"Oi, Doctor! Care to explain what's going on?" Donna's voice trembled, all the fear she'd

been feeling creeping up on her like a thief in the night.

The Doctor swallowed hard and shook his head, unwilling to believe anything he was feeling inside of his Time Lord brain. "Donna... I'm feeling something... Something I haven't felt in centuries."

Donna looked at him, curiously. "What do you mean something you haven't felt in centuries?" Donna wondered if it had something to do with a certain blonde who the Doctor never liked to talk about, not even when it came to her coming back. As he had so blatantly put it, "what was the use in getting his hopes up if he was only going to be disappointed when Rose couldn't find a way to come back?"

"A voice... It's calling my name but I don't understand why. The timelords are dead, I saw them all burn... How is this possible?" The Doctors face, Donna noted, had become even whiter than it had been before and he seemed to be swaying on his feet slightly.

"Doctor, are you telling me your hearing a voice inside your head right now?" Donna looked at him, unsure of what to believe. "When there's a crisis here we need to be dealing with?"

The Doctor pushed a button on the TARDIS and the entire ship began to tumble out of control, the ground began shaking and sending Donna to the floor, as the TARDIS continued to sway on it's axis completely. "I'm sorry Donna! I'm trying to lock onto the coordinates, I don't want to lose another chance at finding a Time-Lord!" The Doctor shouted to her, in an attempt to comfort her.

Donna grabbed onto the ground, trying to find anything she could latch onto but coming up empty. "I thought you said the Time-Lords were gone and that it was impossible to bring them back?!" Donna shouted back, confusion seeping into her voice.

"I know what I said, but somehow... Someway...There's a Time-Lord reaching out to me and I'm not missing this chance to find them!" The Doctor unsteadily got to his knees, having been knocked to the ground with the incessant shaking the TARDIS was doing. "Hold on Donna!"

A long, dreadful minute later, the shaking ceased and the lights illuminating the TARDIS flickered on and off as the sound of her whimpering began to fade in and out. It was momentarily clear to Donna that the TARDIS had fought the Doctor and their ride had been unpleasant because the Doctor had been reluctant to lose this Time Lord. "Doctor?" Donna questioned quietly as she slowly got to her feet, completely unharmed, minus a few bruises and scratches.

"Doctor?" Another voice rang out, this one not a voice Donna recognized and she almost jumped out of her skin when she realized the voice was coming from inside the TARDIS.

"Who are you then?" Donna questioned, hesitantly. She was being cautious incase it was an alien from another world and they wanted to eat her alive... Not that the Doctor would ever let them, but she could never be too sure what kind of Alien she would come across traveling with the Martian boy.

"Doctor... Are you there?" The voice became more persistent and this time, Donna turned around...and came face to face with a child who looked no older than a 15 year old boy. This surprised Donna immensely, considering most of the Aliens she'd faced were so un-human like that it was insane.

"Who are you then?" Donna queried, crossing her arms and staring down the boy who'd appeared on the TARDIS.

"Donna, don't be hateful! We have a guest!" The Doctor cried excitedly, from his position on the other side of the console. His eyes were alight with excitement and happiness, but behind all the elation, Donna knew the Doctor was feeling something akin to being home. "And who might you be then? A Time-Lord, yes? Although, I don't see how that can be remotely possible, but then again anything is possible and I've gotten quite good at being proven wrong when it comes to the whole in-depth view of the word impossible, but you know sometimes you just have to stop and consider the possibilities from every angle-"

"Doctor!" Donna chastised.

"Sorry! Was I babbling again? I do that quite often, but where were we? Oh yes, your name." The Doctor looked at the child and smiled, the excitement bursting through him like wildfire and he could hardly contain it. So much so, that he felt himself bouncing on the heels of his trainers.

The Time-Lord child looked at the Doctor, his mind working a mile a minute. He was in awe at having finally met the person that was a legend among the Gallifreyan people, or maybe legend was too strong a word, especially when it came down to the fact that now the Gallifreyan people hated him, for destroying their world and keeping them locked in a time barrier for centuries. But that was something the Doctor didn't know and he wasn't willing to share that small tidbit of information with him. "My name is Tyler. Tyler Jones, and I need your help Doctor..."

The Doctor smiled and nodded, "of course! But how is it possible that you are standing here right now? Did you survive the fall of Gallifrey...? I watched it burn, I watched my entire planet disappear before my eyes, surely I would know if there'd been a survivor." The Doctor's face help none of the excitement that it once held, as he got lost in the memories that always consumed his past.

"That information isn't important right now Doctor, right now there is someone who needs your help much more than I." Tyler said frantically, unsure of how to go about this situation. "My father... He's going to harm them if you don't help them! I know what you did was wrong, but my father still has no right to meddle in other people's lives!" Tyler kept speaking, trying to get the words out, but finding himself not making any sense.

"Slow down there, one step at a time." Donna said softly as she looked at Tyler, her mind full of unanswered questions. She knew now was not the time, nor the place to ask questions that didn't pertain to the matter at hand. "Start by telling us who it is that needs our help."

The Doctor nodded, crossing one leg over the other and looking at Tyler with an intriguing gaze. "Please do."

Tyler nodded and took a deep, reassuring breath, hoping that when he said her name, everything would make sense to the Doctor. Tyler knew that he had no idea of the existence of his daughter but Tyler could tell him that. After all, with what his father had planned, it was very likely Rose Tyler would never make it to meet the Doctor before his father caught up to her. "Before I tell you who it is Doctor, there is something you need to know first. Gallifrey... It was enclosed by a time lock after the battle with the Daleks. Gallifrey wasn't destroyed but we were all encased in a time barrier where we lived each day over and over... The clocks never moving, people never aging, each day the same thing occurring, over and over... It was misery Doctor and no one knows that better than the people of Gallifrey. We were all... Afraid, afraid that we would never be free, that Gallifrey would never be the same again."

The Doctor stood stock still, his entire persona taking in each and every bit of information that Tyler was saying. His people, the people he'd thought he had destroyed were locked in a time barrier that they could never break... They were tormented to live each and every day over and over, the fear and anger of the time war that they were still impending, something he had already lived, but something they knew was going to happen, but never being free of it. Somehow the Doctor felt like this was his fault, he hadn't been able to save his people and the consequences of his actions resulted in this.

Donna swallowed past the emotions building up in the back of her throat and she tried not to picture the people who were just like the Doctor, locked in a place they could never rid themselves of, she wouldn't know what to do if she was ever in a situation similar to that. "That's horrible," Donna whispered.

Tyler nodded his head in agreement, "you have no idea what it's like to live a day over, knowing what's going to happen. I've spent the better part of my childhood living the same day over and over. So much so, that I've learned things that I never knew were possible and I've seen things that I should be absolutely terrified of." Tyler looked at the Doctor, his eyes sad and distant. "Doctor, you aren't exactly considered a hero on Gallifrey."

The doctor nodded, "no. I didn't figure I was. I've done a lot of things Tyler, a lot of things I'm not proud of. But the Time war... I couldn't prevent it, I couldn't save my planet and I couldn't save any other plant from the impending destruction that befell them."

Tyler shook his head, "but don't you see? You aren't considered a hero on Gallifrey but you are considered a hero on Earth. These humans that you fight planets to save Doctor, they love you and no matter what you've done in the past... You've righted the wrong you've done and I've forgiven you. To me, everything you've done, it's enough. The people of Gallifrey will see that soon enough and you'll be able to go... home."

The Doctor swallowed past the emotions that he knew he couldn't ignore and looked at Tyler, a child of Gallifrey who was smarter than most he'd ever met. On Gallifrey a 14 year old child was considered that of a 14 year old child on earth, but they progressed much faster and the Doctor knew Tyler was someone who's had plenty of time to do that. He was much older than he looked and considering they'd been living in a Time Lock for centuries, never aging... "How old are you, really?" The Doctor questioned, eyeing him warily.

Tyler looked at him, "Physically? I'm 14, but logically I could be older. I don't really know..." Tyler felt a slight blush cover his cheeks at the fact that he really just didn't want to admit his logical age to the Doctor. He was still very immature and scared of everything he'd seen and everything he knew he was going to see, but could anyone blame him? He'd been in a Time Lock for most of his age.

The Doctor nodded, "okay. So I need to find a way to get to Gallifrey then-Oi, haven't said that in quite awhile, it feels good, really-and I need to explain myself, apologize and then we'll deal with this impending doom befalling the earth! What'dya say Donna, Tyler? Ready for an adventure out of this world? Allons-y!"

Donna laughed and shook her head, "you get used to him, really."

Tyler looked at the Doctor, questioningly. "There's still one more thing Doctor... The person I told you about, she needs help! We have to help her first, we-"

"I will help her Tyler, don't you worry. But first I need your help getting the TARDIS working again, I believe with two Time Lords-still not getting old!- we can get her up and running in no time!" The Doctor commented as he ran back and forth, pressing buttons and pulling levers that Tyler had no clue of.

"But Doctor-"

"Oi Donna! Do you remember that magical planet called Midnight? The one I visited a while back?" The Doctor asked, curiously.

"The one with the creepy lady repeating everything you said? I wasn't there Doctor, but I do remember how long it took you to get over when someone repeated themselves. Why are you asking me this?"

The Doctor grinned, "one of the many adventures that I will never forget."

"Doctor-" Tyler started

"Okay... Doctor, you aren't making sense." Donna said, her brow furrowing. Donna didn't really see how any of this was important but if the Doctor thought it was... Then obviously he saw something that was important.

"I really really hate it when people repeat themselves." The Doctor turned to Tyler, tilting his head to one side and burying his hands deep in the pockets of the gray-pinstriped suit he was wearing. "Yes, Tyler! Who is it that we need to help so anxiously."

Tyler sighed with relief and looked at him. "This is very important, are you sure you're ready to hear it?"

The Doctor nodded, "you can't surprise me. Wellll you can, considering you just told me Gallifrey and everyone on it is alive, but that's beside the point. Go in, who is it?"

"Rose Tyler..." Tyler said, looking at the Doctor with weary eyes.

The Doctor was momentarily dumbfounded as he registered the words that Tyler had spoken. Rose Tyler, Rose Tyler, Rose Tyler, Rose Tyler, Rose Tyler, Rose Tyler, Rose Tyler. The Doctor repeated her name over and over like a mantra in his head, hoping somehow it would soothe his rapidly beating hearts. Rose Tyler needed his help... And he was useless when he didn't know how he was even supposed to get to her. "Rose... Needs my help?" He queried, looking at Tyler. "Why?"

Tyler looked at the Doctor, biting his lip. "That part is... Confusing and a lot for someone to take in and I was really hoping she would be the one to tell you..."

The Doctor looked at Tyler, his jaw clenched. "What's wrong with Rose? Why does she need my help?"

"It's my father, he wants her and he will stop at nothing to have her." Tyler looked down, his eyes sad. He didn't like the fact that his father was a cruel and heartless man and technically he wasn't really his son, if they were comparing to earth terms anyways. People on Gallifrey breeded differently than those of the people on earth. But still...He didn't like being entangled with his father.

The Doctor frowned, "your father wants Rose Tyler? But Why...?"

Tyler closed his eyes. "Rose... She's not exactly human anymore, or at least she is human but she isn't..."

Donna looked between the both of them, utterly confused, wondering why nothing a Time-Lord said ever made sense.

"Not human? But that's impossible!" The Doctor raged, still confused as to what the impending danger with Rose Tyler was. "How could Rose not be human?"

"She did look into the heart of the TARDIS..." Tyler trailed off, waiting for the opportune moment to tell him about the child, who he'd learned the name of. Elaine.

The Doctor shook his head, "but I took it all upon myself, it was the whole reason I regenerated! Rose was completely human after that incident."

"Regenerated?" Donna questioned, surprised.

Both Time-Lords ignored her and Tyler continued, "yes. She is indeed very much human but her Timeline... It's different from that of a normal human, it's changed. She's got the timeline of a Time-Lady, but she is 100% human."

The Doctor held his hands up and looked at Tyler, "hold on, just hold on. Are you telling me that Rose Tyler is a human with the timeline of a Time-Lady?"

"Yes... That's exactly what I'm saying, Doctor. But that's not all, Doctor... Rose... Rose, you see, she... gave-"

Daddy! A voice so soft, the Doctor would have missed it, had he not been listening hard enough to his own thoughts, rang out through the TARDIS and three occupants looked up in alarm.

"What was that?" Donna asked, her tone full of confusion. "Is that some kind of alien tech Doctor?"

The Doctor frowned, "I dunno. Maybe it has something to do with whoever has decided to drag the earth and all 8 planets out of orbit."

Tyler looked at both Donna and the Doctor, "no. That voice has nothing to do with Alien tech... It's a child, a very scared and angry child who's only looking for one thing."

Donna looked at Tyler, "her father?"

Tyler nodded, "but not just any father. One man in particular and how she learned how to call out to him so quickly, I will never know. She's a very quick learner though." Tyler added as an after thought.

The Doctor frowned as he focused his attention on the voice who continued to call out for 'daddy,' his entire persona confused. He felt a connection to this voice, a connection he hadn't felt in a very long time and he wondered how it was even possible that he could have that kind of connection with a child he hadn't fathered...

But it was there... That undeniable connection to reach out to her, to help her, and his hearts ached at the fear in her voice. The Doctor could only make one assumption out of this entire situation, and he was completely and utterly in shock at this revelation. "She's... She's my daughter?"

Tyler nodded, "your's and Rose Tyler's."

The Doctor stumbled back, his hearts beating faster than he ever thought possible, his mind running a mile a minute as he tried to take in every bit of information he was being told. "Gallifrey still exists, Rose is in danger and Rose and I... We... We have a child. But...How? Children on gallifrey aren't born the same way they are here on earth..."

"Rose gave birth to her, like a normal earth woman. She carried her for 9 months, and she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She's half human, half Time-Lord Doctor and their world... It's in a lot of danger, that's why Elaine is calling out for you. A child wants their parents when they are scared, you know that... And she senses you."

The Doctor closed his eyes and tried to get past the revelation that he had a daughter, a daughter who was scared and afraid, a daughter who was calling out for him and there was nothing he could do until he knew what the exact situation was.

"I have to get to Rose... I have to." The Doctor stated, a tone of finality in his voice.

"Doctor, what about the earth? My parents... Their still down there and I have no way of contacting them! My mobile has no signal and the TARDIS... The TARDIS is down..." Donna looked at the Doctor frantically and the Doctor felt torn.

"Donna," the Doctor said gently as he walked around the console to his frightened companion. "I'm sorry, I'm so, so, sorry. I'm going to help your parents and all 8 billion people on the planet earth, as well as the other 8 planets out of orbit. But right now... Right now, there's something I have to do first.

Donna looked at him, questioningly. She knew he could mean one of two things, and she was unsure which one he would dictate more important than the other. "What?"

"I'm going to go save Rose and our daughter."
