It's been a while, wow. Okay, yeah, I… I am really sorry for the cliffhanger I left you guys off on. It has been almost six years and… yeah, I feel really bad about that. It feels weird coming back here after so long. I wrote this as a freshman in high school and now I'm a junior at university. It's… just weird.
So, I still have the document with the actual chapter 3 in it saved, but my problem is that it has literally been six years since I last wrote anything for this fic, and I have no idea where I was going with it. Any notes I had taken on the chapter are long gone and I only have a vague recollection of what was supposed to happen. I think Team Rocket might have been involved, but I don't know. It's a Pokémon fic, that's probably a safe guess.
So, for the anon who has been… rather persistently asking that I update this, here's all I had and I honestly don't know if I'll ever come back and finish this, but please, stop spamming me with reviews. I'm flattered that you like it so much that you want more, but I can't promise you an update.
I literally stopped mid-sentence when I last worked on this. So… yeah.
"After much consideration, our panel of judges has decided that the coordinator moving onto the final round will be none other than…" Marian had taken the liberty of making the big announcement. Zoey and I had been directed to center stage to wait, every spotlight in the hall except for three trained on our nervous faces. Zoey gave me a reassuring nod, which I tried to return to her.
Hurry it up Marian, we all want to know who got into the finals! I thought, the rare silence in the Contest Hall stretching on for what felt like an eternity. This was worse than that show from Unova where all those singers compete to win a record deal with a big company and each week one of them gets voted off. The host on that show would drag it out forever until they finally get to who's going home.
"Our very own Petalburg Princess, May Maple!" Marian finally said. Zoey clapped me on the shoulder, smiling while the shock numbed any reaction I should have had. Was this really happening? I must have been hearing things. But I certainly wouldn't have imagined the title Petalburg Princess…
"May? May! You won!" Zoey snapped me out of my trance, shaking my shoulder a little.
"What? Oh, yeah, I guess I did…" I chuckled, grinning at the multiple cameras trained on me. The applause was deafening, and I couldn't help but think that they clapped harder for me than they did for Drew… Take that, grasshead…
~ ( * ) ~
There had been an hour between the semi-finals and the finals so that some crew could come in and make sure everything was ready. No one was allowed into the Contest Hall during said hour, so I spent it getting some last-minute practice with Blaziken in. We were so ready for our battle with Drew. There was no way I'd be losing to him.
"I can't believe it, Blaziken. We're actually here. We just have one more battle to prove that we're just as good as any Top Coordinator and their Pokémon. I can't wait!" I said as I fitted Blaziken's Pokéball with a Ball Capsule. We were backstage, getting ready.
"Ms. Maple? I have something for you." I turned to see a delivery man with a bouquet of exactly five roses, their colors ranging from light pink to deep red.
"Really Drew, now you're resorting to flattery to try and win? That's just sad…" I said, thanking the man and taking the flowers from him. There was a card attached to the bunch, with two words printed in some swirly font that I could barely read.
For Beautifly
They smelled really nice though. I set down the flowers, which had a bright red ribbon tied around the stems, and went to go wait by the stage.
"On second thought…" Rushing back, I pulled the middle flower out of the bouquet and, after making sure there weren't any thorns on it, tucked it behind my ear.
"Ms. Maple, you're on in two minutes." I nodded in acknowledgement before taking Blaziken's Pokéball from my belt.
"Time to show 'em all…"
"Now, ladies and gentlemen, the time you've all been waiting for!" Vivian announced, the lights training on her and the other two Contest announcers.
"The final battle between May Maple of Petalburg City and Top Coordinator Drew Hayden from right here in LaRousse! Let's have a big hand for both of them!" Lilian said, soon joining the rest of Drew's fangirls in applauding the arrogant grasshead.
"Alright Lilian, we do have a timeslot appointed that we have to fit this in…" Marian muttered to her fellow announcer, trying to keep things moving. "And now, without further ado, I present to you our two finalists!" That was Drew's and my cue to walk on stage. Spotlights shone down on us as we approached the stage and camera flashes dotted the cheering audience. I gave them my biggest smile, waving as I took my place.
"Let's have four minutes on the clock! And… Begin!" I whipped out Blaziken's Pokéball and tossed it in the air.
"Blaziken, take the stage!" Blaziken came out in a flurry of blue and red flames, courtesy of his Fire Spin attack. Drew had released his Roserade, pink petals fluttering around it as it materialized.
"Let's start off with another Fire Spin!" I called to my Pokémon. Blaziken sent a flurry of rather small flames zooming towards Roserade, surrounding the Bouquet Pokémon in a flaming spiral. Roserade, I remembered, were naturally born dancers and used that ability in battle, but there was no way it could get out of this.
"Magical Leaf," Drew calmly responded. Roserade pointed both of its bouquets to either side of itself and let loose a flurry of glowing leaves. Blaziken braced itself, but the leaves never came anywhere close to him. Instead, they were taking the Fire Spin attack for Roserade, burning up and extinguishing the fire at the same time.
"Overheat," I said,
