Chapter 3: Time with you
Since my argument/make up day with Damon, I had not seen him much since. But I had been spending alot of time with Stefan and his sweetheart Katherine.
"Mama I'm heading to town for the carnival." I yell as I run down the staircase.
"Have fun dear." she yelled back to me from the kitchen.
As I headed out the door, my father blocked me from leaving. I have not spoken to my father since the day he told me about my engagement to Damon. I have been avoiding him since.
"Amelia, may we talk for a second?"
I looked into my dads eyes, seeing a sadness in them as he stood before me wishing to talk.
I gave him a small smile, nodding my head yes. "Of course."
My father lead me into the front room, sitting down in his favorite reading chair. He motioned with his hand for me to sit down on the couch next to him. I sat down next to him, placing my hand in my lap, fiddling with the lace on my red rose Victorian gown.
"How have you been Mia?" My father asked me, leaning forward on his knees.
"I am well papa."
"How is Damon? Have you spent much time with him?"
My father looked at me with curiosity and concern as he rubbed his hands together.
"I have not spoken to or seen Damon in weeks. I have been spending my time with Stefan." I stood up, facing my father. "I must go if I wish not to be late meeting him."
"Yes of course." He stood up, wrapping his arms around me in a hug. "Have fun tonight sweetie."
I wrapped my arm's around my father, burying my face into his shoulder. "I will papa. I love you."
"As I you princess."
I pulled away from him bowing my head as I made my way out of the house to head to town.
As I made it to town, i spotted Stefan right away. He was standing next to a hay stack, talking to someone behind it. He seemed angry till his eyes hit mine and he smiled my way.
I smiled back to him as I made my way over to where he stood. "Hello Stefan." I peaked around the hay stack, seeing no one there. I glanced back at Stefan seeing him avoiding my gaze. "Who was just here Stefan?"
Stefan rubbed the back of his neck, looking at me than the empty spot than back again. "No one that is worth your time Amelia."
"That is not nice to say Stefan." a strange voice with a hint of a British accent said behind me.
Stefan's face morphed into a serious frown as he stared at the person behind me. I turned facing a tall man with dark piercing eyes that seemed to see to sneak out your dark desires as he watches you. Unlike Damon's blue eye's that see's into your soul and makes you feel like you are the only person in the world. I like looking into Damon's eyes.
"Excuse me sir, but who are you?" I asked backing away from the man to stand next to Stefan.
"Forgive me." He bowed to me, taking my hand in his. "I am Enzo St. John, a friend of Stefan and Damon."
"Pleasure to meet you." I bowed back. "I'm Ms. Amelia Masen."
"A pleasure Ms. Masen." Enzo said kissing my knuckle the way Damon did.
I pulled my hand away from him, wiping it descritly against my dress as I smiled a small smile to him.
"Come Amelia, Katherine said she'd meet us at by the stage for shows." Stefan placed his hand on my arm, tugging gently.
"excuse us Enzo." I bowed my head turning to follow Stefan but was stopped by a hand grabbing mine. I quickly glanced over my shoulder seeing Enzo holding my hand hostage. again.
"Till we meet again Ms. Masen." He brought my hand up, kissing my knuckles once more.
I smiled once more, slipping my hand from his as I grabbed onto Stefan's arm. wiping it off on his sleeve.
Once a safe distance away from Enzo, I began bombarding Stefan with questions.
"How do you know Enzo? Why did you give him such a stare earlier? it had me worried slightly."
"Enzo use to be Damon's best friend. Him and Damon use to do everything together but something happened that drove them apart." Stefan looked down at me. "And it seems that he has his sights set on you Amelia. You must tell Enzo next time you see him that you are Damon's fiance. Or he will not stop bothering you."
"I will." I looked around the carnival searching for any sign of Damon. "Speaking of your brother. Do you happen to know where he might be tonight?" I glanced at Stefan seeing him look around for Katherine.
"He was not at the house when I left to meet you and Katherine."
I nodded once, looking away from him down to the lace on my dress. I wish I knew what he was up to and why i have not seen him. So much for wanting to spend time together.
We finally approached the stage, spotting Katherine in her dark blue Victorian gown. She looked absolutely stunning.
"Katherine." I spoke running up to her, leaving Stefan behind.
"Amelia." Katherine opened her arms, embracing me into a hug. "How I love to see you."
"What is your opinion on me Ms. Katherine." Stefan announced.
I pulled back from Katherine to look over at Stefan seeing him smile.
"I adore seeing you Stefan." She walked up to him, placing her hands in his. "You are everything to me mr. Salvatore."
I turned, walking away as Stefan leaned in to give Katherine a kiss, wanting to give them some privacy. As much as I like spending time with Katherine and Stefan, there love gets to be to much for me to handle.
I walked alongside the merchants selling dresses and Jewelry. I spotted a sapphire necklace hanging on display and it made me think of Damon's blue eyes I sighed as I reached out touching the necklace, feeling how soft the stone was against my finger tips.
"Excellent choice Ms. Masen."
I looked up seeing Enzo standing next to me, smiling. "Enzo." I bowed my head, turning my attention back to the necklace in my fingers.
"That necklace would look absolutely beautiful on you Ms. Masen."
I sighed, smiling at the necklace. "It is beautiful." I let the necklace slip away from my fingers as I pulled my hand away.
"Good sir, I would like to purchase this necklace for Ms. Masen here." Enzo said, waving to the merchant.
I turned to Enzo, my eyes wide with shock. "Enzo, please do not buy the necklace."
He looked at me frowning. "Why not? a beautiful woman like you deserves a just as beautiful necklace." He smiled at me, turning back to the merchant.
I touched Enzo's arm, making him look back at me. "I am Damon's fiance. please do not buy this necklace for me in hope of me returning any affection." I removed my hand from his arm.
Enzo stared at me as he lifted his hand to the merchant as he placed the necklace in Enzo's hand. "Then Ms. Masen, please accept this necklace as a congratulations on your engagement present." He held up the necklace. "May I help you put it on?"
I smiled, turning around. Enzo placed the necklace on my neck as he fastened it into place. I lifted my hand to the stone, marveling at it beauty.
"Thank you." I turned back to Enzo. "It is most beautiful, and you are most kind." I squeezed the stone in my hand.
"It is nothing Ms. Masen. if anything it was a pleasure." Enzo bowed his head, smiling at me.
I bowed back, turning to where I left Stefan and Katherine. They were sitting on a bench, deep in conversation with the look of adoration in both of there eyes. I looked away sighing, wishing for Damon to be here.
"Are you alright Ms. Masen?" Enzo asked me, touching my arm.
"Please call me Amelia." I glanced at him. "As for your question, I'm not sure."
Enzo extend his arm out to me. "Let's take a stroll and you can tell me what is bothering you."
I nodded once, wrapping my hand around his arm as we walked around the carnival.
He patted my hand as encouragement for me to open up.
"It's Damon." I sighed. "Ever since we have been told of our engagement, we have not spent much time together."
"What do you mean, told of your engagement?" Enzo asked.
I lead Enzo over to a near by bench. I pulled away from him, sitting down. "Our engagement has been arranged by our parents. I was against the whole thing, but something about Damon changed my mind." I fiddled with the lace on my dress.
"Do you love him?"
I looked up at Enzo sighing. "I do not. but I have a year to attempt to fall in love with him, even if we have only been together once." I looked back down at my dress, feeling tears spring from eyes.
Enzo knelled down in front of me, taking my hands in his. "Amelia do you wish to marry Damon?"
I sniffled and sighed as I stared into Enzo's eyes. "I wished to fall in love. But that will not ever happen. unless Damon is capable of falling in love too."
Enzo lifted his hand wiping away the fallen tears on my face. "I hate to see you cry Amelia. It breaks my heart to see you so hurt."
I closed my eyes as Enzo ran his thumb under my eye. Trying to hold back a sob that began to form in my throat, I turned my head away from Enzo, making his hand drop back down to my lap.
"I appreciate your kindness to me Enzo." I whisper, opening my eyes.
"You deserve much more than kindness Amelia. You deserve the world and a man who wants to see you every day." He placed his hand on my chin, turning me to face him. "You deserve the world."
I reached up touching his hand on my chin, pulling it back down to my lap. glancing down at our hand, made me think of how much I wish Damon was like how Enzo described. How I wish for that type of love.
"I should head home." I whispered softly.
Enzo began to stand up in front of me, pulling me up with him. I squeezed his hand in mine, smiling up at him.
"Thank you for your company and for the necklace." I let go of his hands, bowing to him. "Goodbye Enzo."
"Ms. Masen." He bowed back to me.
I took off walking away from town, holding and swallowing every urge to scream, cry, or to run into the woods. All of what Enzo said to me made feel and want to find a love of my own. But a deep pulling feeling made me want it to be Damon. For him to be the love story I've dreamed about.
I walked up onto my porch sitting down on the new swing seat my father had recently built. I placed my head in my hands and took a few calming deep breaths.
"Ms. Amelia." a voice whispered to me.
I lifted my head to see who was speaking to me and felt my heart beat began to race.
"Damon."
