Pokemon does not belong to me.
AN: My bad about the late update, my internet was down on friday from the storms and I was gone all weekend without computer access. Please read and review.
"Flint, it's good to meet you. Thank you, I don't think my pokemon were up for a match with those guys. I guess I owe you. My name's Chris." Chris said, grateful to the red haired man next to him.
"Well, if you really mean that, there is a problem that you could help me with. Team Galactic has been getting more and more active around here, and I'm not sure why. They've taken over a building in Oreburgh City and I'd be very grateful to you if you could get them out of there. If all else fails you could ask the gym leader there to help you, I'm sure he'd be happy to help you. Team Galactic cannot be given the chance to take control anywhere." Flint turned around and started to walk away. He took five steps and turned his head back towards the baffled Chris, "The Pokecenter is just around the bend, I'd get your pokemon healed before you go any farther." With that he continued to walk and disapeared around the corner.
Chris was left standing alone and shocked. Flint, a member of the elite four, had actually asked him for assistance. He had heard of Flint from his mother, but she had forgotten to describe the sense of power that seemed to radiate off of him. "How can I ever hope to compete with that?" Chris whispered aloud. He started to walk the way Flint had told him, and it wasn't long until he came to the red roofed building. As he made his way inside, he took note of how full it was. Every chair was full, and the walls were lined with both people and pokemon. He walked up to the line in front of the front desk and waited his turn. After fifteen minutes he was finally up to talk to Nurse Joy. "Maam, I just wanted to check my pokemon in for a quick rest, they're pretty worn out."
Nurse Joy smiled sweetly at him, "Really, just resting. That's a lot easier than these other's, they were all involved in the Pokemon Battlerama that took place earlier this morning and some of there pokemon were hurt pretty bad, I'll just take them off your hand and you can come back in about an hour." Chris handed over his pokemon, but didn't walk away.
"What is the Pokemon Battlerama?" Chris asked, having never heard of it before.
"It's a tournament we hold in Jubilife once a month, they broadcast it over Jubilife TV. Lots of people enter it, and a lot of pokemon get hurt. Anyway, sorry to rush you, but there are others waiting in line, I'd love to talk to you later though. Next." And Chris was shoved out of the way. He didn't know what he should do for the hour that he didn't have his pokemon, so he decided to get something to eat. He walked along the street outside the Pokecenter and found a nice diner. He walked inside and found it to be almost empty. There was just an old woman sitting in the corner feeding what looked to be an ancient Pachirusu. Chris took a seat at a booth and a waitress soon came over and took his order. Several minutes later Chris was eating his greasy hamburger and fries when there was a commotion out in the street. Two men were yelling at each other, and they each had their pokemon out in front of them. A Zangoose and Seviper. They were both young, mid twenties, and looked ready to kill the other one. Chris threw his half eaten dinner away and walked outside, now the men's voices were easier to hear.
"What do you mean, your Zangoose beat my Seviper? They called it off because they were scared I might kill that pitiful excuse for a pokemon of yours. Your so dumb you don't deserve to be called a pokemon trainer." The man standing to the left of Chris, the one with the Zangoose, called the other man something that drew gasps from the crowd, and then the trainer with the Seviper ordered his Pokemon to use poison tail. The Seviper's tail glew a venemous poison as it slammed into the Zangoose's midsection, knocking it back several feet. There was a slash where it had struck, and it didn't look like it would get up from where it had fallen, but it did. It rushed forward, claws extended, and dove for the Seviper, disregarding it's trainers orders. Before it could land a hit the Seviper's tail whizzed through the air and struck the Zangoose in the head, throwing it ten feet in the air. "Seviper, wait for it to come down and use Poison Tail again." The Seviper did as it was told. As the Zangoose flailed through the air, knowing what was coming, it's trainer shouted to it. It got no response, and as the Zangoose was about to hit the ground, Seviper's poison tail struck it squarely in the face, throwing it a good thirty feet into the crowd. Seviper's trainer walked over to Zangoose's and spit in his face before turning and walking away. The other trainer just stood there, wiping the spit from his eyes. He looked close to tears. Chris broke away from the circle and approached Zangoose's trainer. He put his hand on his shoulder but he jerked away. "Just leave me alone, and take that worthless pokemon with you!" He turned and ran, but not before throwing a pokeball on the ground and smashing it with his foot. Zangoose, who had risen with two large slashes and returned to the middle of the circle, cried out it's name after the trainer, who never even looked back. Chris looked at the Zangoose, and drew out one of his empty pokeballs.
"If you want, you can travel with me." He said as friendly as possible. The Zangoose looked at him, then at the pokeball in his hand. It looked after it's trainer, then reached out it's claw and pushed the button. The pokeball grew in size, and a beam of red light sucked it in. The ball never even moved. It just glowed red for an instant before making the dull sound that meant the pokemon had been caught. Chris held the ball in his hand, feeling that no matter how mean Seviper's trainer had been, he had been right about one thing. That man had not been worthy to carry the name Pokemon Trainer.
AN: So, my shortest chapter yet, and also my most poorly written but I just couldn't get it together. I hope you like it, I've been writing on it for like four hours trying to get it to run more smoothly. Please tell me what you think.
