Chapter 4: The End-or is it?

"Hey," I look up to see who's talking to me. It was Ares. "Some day, huh?"

"Isabel is dead." I say, looking down at the ground "Or have you not heard yet?"

"I know. Why do you think I was looking for you?" Ares replies softly

I look up at him. "You were looking for me?"

"Yeah. You knew her well, and you're nowhere to be found? It's a little worrying." Ares eyes are slightly bloodshot, and his voice is shaky.

He opens his arms to me, and I fall into them, finally letting myself cry. He's warm and comforting. "Why does it hurt so much?" I ask Ares.

"I don't know. You tell me." Ares voice is strong, but gentle and empathetic.

We cry there, together, for who knows how long, until we can't cry anymore. We try to talk a bit, but everything we say leads-in some way- back to her. So we just stand there, staring at the sky and sometimes whispering, "Why?"

An odd thought suddenly pops into my mind. I begin to smile and giggle.

"What?" Ares looks at me, puzzled. His look only makes me laugh even more. "What? What did I do?" He keeps asking me this until we're both smiling and giggling.

Finally we calm down enough that I'm able to explain. "Your name, Ares, means ruin and destruction. In fact, Ares was the Greek god of destruction. Yet you have never caused any ruin. But that man-The Doctor, a name that means wise man and healer- came with near-destruction of humanity. Don't you think it's ironic? Sorta like one of those twisted myths?"

"Could just be coincidence."

"You're probably right." Then a thought occurred to me "Who was he, anyways?"

Ares paused a moment "I have no idea. Where did he go, as well?"

"He left in his 'TARDIS'. He said he would be seeing me again soon. Wonder what that's supposed to mean?"

Ares laughs, "I have no idea, like every other question that came along with 'The Doctor'"

Suddenly we hear a noise coming from around the corner. The noise sounds familiar, like a friend's voice combined with the sound of a car engine. Wind blows the snow away from where the noise is coming from, even melting it a little. I know exactly what it is, whom it means has returned.

I grab Ares' hand before he can say a word and take him around the corner to the blue box that's waiting for me.

"What the-" Ares starts to say as I pull him inside the TARDIS.

And there our adventures begin.
