Chapter 4: The Christmas Gift
No one had any more disturbances until Christmastime. Everyone knew that Li liked Sakura, and vice-versa. But they still hadn't said anything to each other about it. By this time, Yugi'd pretty much gotten over his sickness, but still no one knew what it was. Everyone was going to trade gifts at lunch and until then, everything went as planned.
But at lunch time, Sakura had realized what Yugi's gift was… and it wasn't good.
Yugi did get to open his present, however.
"I found it at a garage sale. None of the owners could open it. Can you?" Tea asked.
"No!" Sakura yanked the strange red book out of Yugi's hands and dropped it. It opened a crack as it fell. Just before it hit the floor, everyone dashed for it. It opened- in Sakura's grasp.
"What's your problem!?" Joey yelled.
All the cards inside the book flew out.
"That's my problem." Sakura managed to force a sarcastic smile.
"Oops… sorry. What was that?" Yugi asked.
"The Book of Clow." Sakura sighed. Madison slapped her forehead. Li groaned.
A yellow bear-lion-thing popped out of nowhere. "Yeah…"
"You talk!" Miho's eyes were wide.
"Yeah… that's Kero," Sakura explained.
"It's Kerberos!"
Sakura nodded grimly.
"I'm the guardian of those cards you just saw. They were made by a magician, Clow Reed."
"How does Sakura already know so much about all this?" Miho asked.
Kerberos grinned. "This has happened before."
"That's my big secret!" Sakura agreed. "I'm a Cardcaptor."
