Chapter 4: Invasion!
"Your...mother?" Cayde said confused at to what Junior was talking about.
"That's what I wanted to say. The reason why I so mad when we left the castle..." Junior looked back towards the floating ships overhead. "Was because I was upset since they were talking about the only family I have."
"Wait, so your telling me that..?!"
"Yep." Junior turned back towards Cayde.
"I'm her, daughter Bowsette Jr." Junior said who looked at him with a serious look.
"W-Wait, so that means you-?!"
"Been helping my mom to try and take over the Kingdom. Yeah, it's true."
Cayde stood in shock. The only friend he made when coming to this world, turned out to be the one who's been behind the attack's and all the trouble. He didn't know what to do, until a recent memory came back to his head.
"Hold up, so the fight with your mom, was that fake to?"
"No, it's true. I was upset since she never really let me do my idea's so that's why came to see. To let off some steam."
"To let off some steam?" Cayde took a step back in shock at how he was used just like that.
"So when you asked to get in my bag that day. You were trying to get intell so you knew when to catch them off guard.
"You got that right too."
*BOOM*
Another explosion was set off as the last of the air fleets came into view, heading towards Peach's castle.
"Well I gotta get going." Junior said as she turned around and started walking while doing a dog whistle.
Just then something in the distance shot up from within Toad Town and flew into their direction. It was none other than Junior's clown car as it hovered above her before it flew down towards her, where she jumped right in.
"Junior, wait! Think about what your doing!" Cayde said running up to her.
Junior turned towards him before she grabbed the edge of the clown copper and spun it, having Cayde let go of it, flying off towards the ground.
"I do know what i'm doing." Junior then flew a good feet above them as she stared down at him. "You should leave. I don't want you getting hurt, besides you out all the people were nice to me. So I'll put in good word." Junior then turned and started to fly away when she heard Cayde's voice again.
"Junior! Don't do this please! Think about all the families that live here, what if they get hurt or worse?!"
"That's not my problem."
"What?!"
"Either they listen, or they die trying." Junior said finally taking off towards the mother ship leaving Cayde with hurt and shocked expression.
"Junior, how could you?..."
*BOOM*
Just before Cayde could start feeling bad, another explosion went off as faint cries of Toad's over in the town. Cayde ran up to get a good view and saw the entire place was up in smoke and flames, soldiers of Koopa's,Gomba's,Hammer Bro's and Flying Paratrooper's. Cayde all could was stare. Was this what happens when Bowsette attack's?! And what the hell is up with those brown mushroom's walking around?!
Cayde shook his head before he gave a glared over the town.
"Come on, Cayde snap out of it!"
Cayde then looked up towards the ships as they hovered in the sky launching enemies down into town.
"Well can't just stand here and do nothing." He said walking towards a tree and setting his bag down, rummaging through it looking for a specific item.
"Ah there you are." He said pulling out a certain green mushroom.
"Huh?" Cayde grabbed the so called "1-UP" mushroom and stared at it.
"Well if what they say is true better hold onto this." Putting the mushroom in his pocket along.
"Guess it's time to be hero, huh?" Cayde said boosting off towards Toad Town.
Cayde ran into Toad Town only to look in shock. The town was in utter shambles, houses destroyed and burning, crater's from explosion's from the ships.
"Holy..."
"Take-a- this!" A voice exclaimed as an explosion was heard nearby along with it.
"What is that?!"
Cayde ran over to the smoke of where the explosion took place. When he got there however, his journey was stopped when something collided with face, launching him into a building creating a dust cloud
"Ow! What the heck?!" Cayde said within the cloud as it dispersed.
Cayde looked over to where he felt impact to his face only to find out it was a Koopa who was in a fighting stance glaring at him.
"Did I just get hit by a fucking turtle...?" Cayde's eye twitched as his anger started to build.
The Koopa stared at him before he started running for him. The Koopa jumped into the building Cayde was lying in and pulled his fist back before throwing it in front of him towards Cayde. However, that really didn't go as plan as Cayde stood up and punched the Koopa so quick he didn't even see it coming launching him into a tree knocking him out cold.
"That'll teach you." Cayde said before returning to the job at task.
When he got to the sight, Cayde's mouth dropped. In the middle of the village was a horde of Koopa's and Goomba's who were either charging or sent flying due to something in the middle they were going after. When Cayde got a better look he eye's widened due to seeing the Maria, Lena, and some green dinosaur. Currently they were fighting off the army of soldier's and were doing surprisingly well until Lena jumped in the air...and summoned lighting?!
"Hold up, she can do that?!" Cayde gawked.
Lena then dived towards the ground fist raised as she smashed the ground shocking every last of them, but due to Cayde being behind the horde he was caught in the attack as it shocked along with them.
"G-G-God D-D-Damn it!"
Once the attack was over the sister's and the dinosaur looked over to see if any of them survived, however, they did come across a blue haired boy who was smoking, literatlly.
"Oh no, Cayde! I'm so sorry!" Lena said as she ran up to him bowing in apology.
"Nah, it's cool. Just watch were your aiming next would ya?"
"R-Right." She said scratching the back of her head.
"Cayde, what are you-a- doing here?" Maria asked walking up to him along the dinosaur.
Cayde then shook himself off getting rid of the burn and smoke marks. "Easy, I'm here to help you!"
"What?!" Maria and Lena yelled in shock.
"Cayde, it's-a- really sweet of you to say that. But this is far to dangerous!"
"I agree with Maria. You don't know what their capable of!"
"What?! Dude I just not too long ago got sent flying through a wall due to one of those turtle things and beat him."
"You fought a Koopa?!"
"Yoshi?!" The green dinosaur exclaimed
"Yeah I did. Not much of challenge though. Also what the heck is that?!" Cayde said pointing to the dinosaur.
"Oh don't worry about-a- him. This is our pal Yoshi!"
"Yoshi Yoshi!" Yoshi sa- uh exclaimed.
"Right..."
However, before Cayde could continue a voice rang from above them.
'Princess Peach!" Bowsette yelled gaining the attention of Cayde and the other's. "It certainly has been awhile. A day? Two weeks? A Couple of months? Hahaha!"
"Bowsette! I thought you gave up on trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom!" Peach said walking out of the castle.
"Yeah! Go back to your castle, you crazy lady!" Lena yelled out.
"Aw that's so mean of you say..." Bowsette said grabbing her chest in hurt manner." We haven't seen each other in quite some time I thought I make quick pitstop to drop by and say "hello". "
Cayde,Maria and Yoshi all glared at her while Lena was help picking up a Toad who had fallen down couldn't get up.
"You see through out all my recent attempts to beat you and these stupid plumbers, my plans have utterly failed."
"She's got that right." Maria said elbowing Cayde who just gave a light chuckle.
"However, a thought ad crossed my mind recently. Why not ask my daughter if SHE as any idea's?" Just then a familiar blonde haired girl that Cayde knew all to well, floated up next to her mother with crossed arms and a smile on her face.
"Junior!"
And you know what? The idea she gave me was beautiful. So beautiful I could cry."
"MARIA!" Bowsette roared. "I finally know how to beat you!"
Cayde stared as the Bowsette had a cocky grin on her face before she looked towards Junior.
"Would you like to do the honors?"
"Yeah I would!" Junior exclaimed happily. She looked down and saw Cayde who was looking at her with sad look that made her guilty.
"I'm sorry Cayde." Junior thought as she looked away before turning back, throwing off her cloak, and stomping her foot on the edge of the clown copper lunging it forward before she yelled.
"SOLDIER"S ATTACK!" Junior yelled pointing towards Cayde and crew.
Just then the ground started shaking as Cayde and Maria both looked towards each other and towards the entrance of town as certain number of figure's were startng to grow near. The two got into a fighting stance along with Yoshi, however, what came next shocked them to their very core. The massive rumbling was an army of Koopa's and Goomba's charging straight at them with impressive speeds. Cayde,Maria,Lena, and Yoshi yelled in surprise.
"Holy shit?!"
"Mama Mia?!"
"Yoshi?!"
"Yaaaahhh!" Lena yelped in surprise before shaking it off grabbing the toad and pushing them behind a building out of sight. She jumped from behind the house and got into a fighting stance of her own. Cayde and Maria did the same until Maria stopped him.
"Cayde go now! We can handle this!"
"What?! I'm not about to leave you here besides I said I can fight too!"
"You don't understand this is too much for you!"
"I could say the same thing!"
"Cayde-!"
However, Maria was interrupted when a Koopa soldier came flying at her with fist as she reacted and blocked it in the nick of time. The Koopa continued his attack before Maria let go of her guard throwing his hands back before sending a flying punch to his face launching him into a house. She then followed up with a running starting punting away another Koopa, before smashing another towards the ground making a mini crater. She was caught off guard as a Koopa full fledged football tackled her, taking her along with him.
Maria was holding onto him before she jumped off him doing a back flip and jumping off the ground, just as the Koopa was about to attack., time seemed to have slowed down as Cayde then appeared above Maria who grew shocked expression before she saw the determination and fight in his eyes. She grew a faint smile as time resumed and Cayde returned the favor football charging the Koopa that kicked her away. Cayde landed on the ground before taking off leaving a dust cloud as he pulled his fist back reappearing front of a striaght line of enemies who were shocked to find him in front of them. They were to shocked to do anything as Cayde threw his punch to the Koopa was launched back into the rest launching them in separate directions.
Cayde continued his charge towards the massive army that continued to make into the town. Cayde ran towards a few Koopa's as they did a flying kick, however, Cayde jumped in between them and punched a Koopa behind them sending him into the ground, as he dodged an incoming Goomba that was using his head as weapon, he dodged it before kicking another Koopa who did the same as he jumped off him and collided fists with another before he drop kicked him into the ground.
Maria,Lena and Yoshi stared in shock as they watched Cayde fight off the barrage of enemies that came his way.
"Holy..."
"Wow Maria! He wasn't kidding when he said he could hold his own!" Lena exclaimed as she roundhouse kicked a Koopa.
"Yoshi Yoshi!' Yoshi said in excitement.
Up in the sky, Bowsette and Junior stared in amazement as Cayde fought his way through the barrage.
"Who in the hell is this kid?!" Bowsette yelled. "He's taking our men!"
Junior had no words. Sure she's seen Maria and Lena fight their way through their army before, but this was on a whole other level. One gu- sorry. Kid. Was taking on an army by himself was doing one hell of job.
"He's incredible..." Junior thought as she continued to watch Cayde fight.
Time once again seemed to have slowed down as Cayde was then surrounded by Koopa's and Goomba's as they tackled him into the ground crating a massive pile as Cayde yelled in pain as he felt elbowing and kicking him before his head was covered from view.
"CAYDE/YOSHI!" Maria,Lena and Yoshi yelled.
"Cayde!" Junior yelled as she lunged forward a little.
"Hmm? Do you him?" Bowsette said taking notice in her daughter's voice of concern.
"O-Oh well you see, he was the one who helped me get intell for when we could plan our attack."
"Ah, is he now? Then why is he fighting us instead of with us."
"Because he didn't know at the time I was...tricking him."
"My aren't you bad girl~ Playing nice just to stab him in the back. Wonderful job Junior."
However, Junior wasn't feeling all that great. She lied to the only friend she knew and was now watching him fight to the very death.
"Why? Why do I feel so guilty? Our plans working...but I feel like i did something wrong..." Junior looked down towards the pile that Cayde was underneath and watched as Maria and crew made their way towards him yelling his name.
However, Junior thought's were interrupted when something blinded her. The light was bright it blinded her and Bowsette a little. Was the sun coming up or something? Junior looked around to find the source when her eyes turned towards the massive army pile that Cayde was underneath.
"What the...?"
Just then a loud yell was heard from underneath the pile as blue flames sprouted from within it. The pillar of blue flames continued as the Koopa's and Goomba's burned from the touched and were running around trying to put out the fire. But what caught everyone's attention was the figure standing within it.
"Alright, you wanna play dirty do ya?" A voice from within the flames.
Junior's eyes widened in shock of the voice she knew to well. "N-No way...It can't be..?!"
The flames dispersed as Cayde was seen the middle, his hoodie was taken off leaving him his thermal shirt as that had a piece of clothing missing at the upper part of his chest exposing it, as well as a cracked lens in hin goggles.
"Life lesson number 1.) Never piss me off." Cayde said as his eyes were glowing as blue flames ignited his fist's.
"I'm burning with rage!" Cayde yelled as he jumped off a Goomba and was now in the air staring down at hord.
"The flames of my right hand, the flames of my left! Put em' together and you'll burn to ash!" Cayde yelled as he put both his hands together as a big ball of blue flames appeared above his head.
"Fire Dragon Brilliant Flame!" Cayde then threw the ball down at the shocked horde as they screamed in shock as the ball of magic made contact, creating a gigantic explosion forcing everyone away. Hell even a few ships had to back up due to the blast radius from his attack.
A giant smoke cloud filled the air as everyone had stopped what they were dong and were now staring at the spot were Cayde had unleashed his attack. Maria,Lena,Yoshi, and Peach stared in utter shock as now words came to mind or mouth. Bowsette and Junior up in the air were the same as nothing came from them.
"W-What the heck was that...?!" Junior asked in shock.
"Junior, you said you met him before haven't you?" Bowsette asked not taking her eyes off the literal bomb site.
"Y-Yeah I did, but he never showed any type of magic whatsoever?!"
Back down in town, Cayde had landed and stared at his work in happiness as the cloud cleared showing a massive crater and utter destruction. Yes Cayde had defeated the horde but in doing so he had destroyed a few house's in the process along with soldier bodies everywhere as they were knocked completely unconscious.
"Life lesson number 2.) Never touch my scarf."
However, before Cayde could get out the crater another of soldiers appeared around as they were in the air above him about to attack. Cayde was going to do the same until a light strike came down scattering them as Cayde stared in confusion. The lighting dispersed as Lena came from within it landing perfectly.
"Hey, thanks for the save." He said giving a thumbs up of approval.
"Y-yeah."
Maria and Yoshi then landed in the crater net to him.
"Cayde..." Maria asked as she slowly walked forward. "Were you always able to do that?"
"You bet."
"Amazing.."
"Yoshi..."
Just before Maria could ask another question a Goomba appeared from out of nowhere and charged right towards her.
"Sis look out!"
Maria turned to already see the Goomba inches away from her, before she could anything, Cayde was quicker as fire within his stomach swelled up towards his mouth as he released a quick fireball nailing the goomba right in the face knocking it unconscious...only problem was, it would've been cooler if he didn't shoo it it underneath Maria's skirt.
"That was close. You okay?"
"..."
"Maria?"
Maria walked up to Cayde her hat shadowing over her eyes as she raised her hand and brought back down onto Cayde's head with a great karate chop.
"Don't ever do that-a- again!" Maria said as a comical vein appeared on her head along with angry plate comical eyes and teeth.
"Ow! What?! It didn't hit you I don't see the problem!" Cayde shot back as a noticeable bump was on his head.
"That is a problem! It could have hit me you little twerp!" Maria said grabbing Cayde by the neck and started to strangle him.
Lena and Yoshi stared as comical sweatdrops appeared on their heads as they took in the scene before them. However, all was interrupted when Lena noticed something.
'Um, guy's I think were missing a very important part of all this." Lena said as she held a finger up.
"Oh yeah and what's that?!" Maria said turned towards her sister as Cayde was struggling to get free
"Oh I don't-a- know maybe it isn't the fact that he just breathed FIRE!"
"Yep. And darn proud of it." Cayde said through Maria's chokehold.
Before he could continue Yoshi interrupted him.
"Yoshi Yoshi!"
"Huh what's up bud?"
"I think he's-a- tellin' us that the group of angry Goomba's and Koopa's that are surrounding us aren't going to wait any longer." Lena said as she pointed towards the obvious group who had been watching the entire scene.
"Well then let's-a- go!" Maria said dropping Cayde and getting into a fighter stance along with Lena,Yoshi and Cayde who happened to recover quickly than they thought.
Maria then lunged forwards unleashing a brutal punch that sent a good chunk flying, Lena unleashing a lighting strike eletrocuting the other chunk, Yoshi turned into a egg and spun making good strike sending the enemies flying, and Cayde unleashing a brutal punch of his own. The Koopa's and Goomba's came flying down as team stood their as they fell before charging after the other group of soldiers entering the village.
It must have a good hour as Cayde and crew were still fighting the horde of Bowsette's army as they soon began to realize that they were starting to come less and less. Bowsette watched with an unamused look on her face, but took notice of the tiredness in the Maria sister's.
'They took out all of our men it seems."
"Yeah,..but hey at least my plan worked!" Junior said trying to lighten things up a little.
"Yes it did by luck." Bowsette said walking towards the edge of the ship and looked down at the destruction of the town.
It was in utter shambles, buildings caught on fire or either destroyed, unconscious bodies of her soldiers lodged in buildings some even in the roofs on in craters, and some Paratroopers were still standing flying high above the town wounded and damaged, and some of her battle ships destroyed planted into the ground resting in fire or smoke.. We now look down towards a tired Maria, Lena and Yoshi as they were panting looking over the bodies to make sure none of them got back up again.
"I...I think that's all of them.." Maria said breathing heavily.
"I..I-a- agree."
"Yoshi..."
"Rraaahhh!" Cayde yelled smashing the last of the paratroopers into the ground knocking him unconscious.
"Hey you guys good?" Cayde called out to the trio as they were shocked to find him still a ton of energy after a a couple of hours.
They nodded giving him a thumbs up. He smiled knowing their okay before he turned his attention towards a certain command ship. Cayde glared at Bowsette as she returned it.
"Hey Maria, can you still fight?" Cayde said not looking back.
"I-I'm-a- really tired but I can still fight."
"Yoshi!"
"Me three!"
Cayde looked back at them, they were really bruised and beaten, but he respected their decsion nodding to it.
"Okay, hey Yoshi!" He called out to the green dinosaur.
"Yoshi?"
"I need to launch me..." He pointed towards the command ship. "Up there."
"What?!" Maria and Lena exclaimed.
"Yoshi?!"
"Are you crazy?! That's were Bowsette is! I'm not sending you up there!"
"I agree with Maria on this one Cayde. You may be strong but she's on a whole other level!"
"Another reason why I want to fight her!"
"Yoshi!"
"Aw come on not you too Yoshi."
As the team argued, Bowsette was staring at Cayde with an intense glare.
"Let's see how well you do against this."
Bowsette then uncrossed her arms as a light glowed in her mouth before she hung back and lunged forward releasing fire a ball towards the group. As they continued to argue they failed to notice as hurled towards them. But Yoshi on the other hand did and his eyes widened.
"YOSHI!" Yoshi exclaimed catching the trio's attention.
"Yoshi what's-a- wrong?" Lena asked as she walked up to him.
"Yoshi!" Pointed towards the fireball that was already a few inches above them.
They all turned towards it as their eye's widened in shock, they couldn't move due to it being to close and that there was a Toad family next to them behind a building. All of time slowed down again as Yoshi looked between Maria, Lena and Cayde as they were looking up the ball of fire in shock, he turned towards the toad family who were cowarding in fear in worries that the blast will kill.
Just then in all in one motion Yoshi did what he had to do. Yoshi stretched his tounge and wrapped it around Maria, Lena and Cayde and stretched it farther towards the toad family and wrapped it around them, just before he threw his head back as they were then launched in the air tossing them away from the fireball. Time resumed as the gang were in shock and looked towards Yoshi who was waving towards them with a smile on his face.
"YOSHI!"
*BOOM*
The gang covered their eyes due to the explosion. Maria and Lena grabbed the toad family just as they landed and told them to run. Cayde on the other hand was in utter shock. Even though he hasn't known him for that long, Cayde felt connected to him as if they were friends for years on out, he watched the smoke start to disperse as Yoshi lied there unconscious.
"Yoshi!" Cayde yelled running up to his dino friend.
He shook and felt his pulse before breathed in relief realizing he was okay, but glared angrily up at Bowsette who was smirking down at them.
"Maria! You and Lena take Yoshi and get him out of here!"
"What but we can't just leave you!"
"I'll be fine!" Just go and before you do get me up on that ship!"
"Maria's had shadowed over her eyes as she stood her position.
"Maria!"
"Alright!" Maria yelled out running towards him.
All in one motion Maria grabbed Cayde by the back of his shirt and did a good 360% spin before she glared up at Bowsette. Just before she threw Cayde she had one last thing to say.
"Cayde, when your up there you better win! Got that?"
Cayde was shocked at first but regained his composure before gave a glare of his own. "You got it!"
Maria smirked and nodded. "Let's-a-... GO!" Maria then chucked Cayde like an NFL player as he soared threw the sky right towards Bowsette, who grew watched as her new found visitor was coming to pay her a visit.
"Well Junior, it seems your little friend wants to see you again."
Junoir then looked towards she was looking at and her mouth dropped as she saw Cayde flying straight for them.
"Bowsette!"
"Come and get me boy!" Bowsette then charged up another attack.
"Mom what are you...?!"
Junior was interrupted when Bowsette then unleashed a giant fireball towards Cayde who's eyes widened in surprise.
"Maria, look?!" Lena pointed towards the sun like ball.
"Oh no..Cayde!"
Cayde grew closer to the fireball as Bowsette crossed her arms just before her attack collided with Cayde causing an explosion in the air making everyone's eye's widen.
"Cayde!" The sister's yelled as they stared at the firey cloud.
"CAYDE!" Junior exclaimed loudly as she saw her mothers attack hit him. She turned towards her with anger in her eyes.
"How could you?!"
"Hmm? I thought you didn't care about him?"
"Just because I don't care doesn't mean I wanted him dead!"
Bowsette turned towards her daughter fully as she walked up towards her face right in hers making Junior lean back a bit.
"I don't recall you making friends with the enemy, besides what has he given you that I haven't?"
"A whole lot more than you obviously!" Cayde's voice making way to everyone's ears. "But what I hate most is when people try smoke me like turkey on Thanksgiving!"
Just then a slurping sound was heard gaining the attention of Junior and the other's. "What in the..." Bowsette said as Cayde was slurping her flames before swallowing it and landing on the command ship her and Junior were on.
"Heh thanks for the chow! Now my bloods boiling!" Cayde yelled getting into a fighter's stance as blue flames engulfed his fists.
Bowsette and Junior stared in shock as well as Maria and Lena who were watching from below.
"You...did you just..?!" Bowsette asked raising her finger at him.
"Oh you bet! By the way have considered brushing your teeth or using mouth wash?"
"What?!" Bowsette yelled her foot stomping on the floor making the battle ship shake a little.
"You heard me besides have you ever trimmed your eyebrows?"
Junior stared in shock as Cayde was completely calling her out just like that, but what really got her when he said she needed to brush her teeth as she was holding back her laughter. Bowsette whipped her head around making Junior shut up on the spot.
"I'll admit your not normal but that doesn't mean I won't stomp you to oblivion!"
"Oh yeah? Bring it!"
"I will make you bow before me!
Oh man can't wait for next chapter! Had to make a few adjustments, hope this makes things a little bit better for the viewers. Anyways, I'll see y'all in the next chapter. Bye!
