Note: Sorry it took so long. Warcraft and Walking Dead was discovered then Falling Skies. Then I discovered Darksiders. Anyway, I changed and editted some of the last three chapters. I'm trying to go back and edit my old fanfictions because there are soooo many mistakes with grammar and spelling x.x
So, here is the next chapter of Starting over! It's being written on a tablet with autocorrect on it so Lord only knows what it'll change without me noticing.
"I don't know if they've been through any tornadoes. They're from California and most Californians aren't scared of anything." Angel stepped up to knock on the door, Ratchet at her side when they heard a comotion from inside.
"We're going to die!"
"No we're not, Gabe. Sit down."
"SIT DOWN?! During a tornado warning?!"
"Yes. Sit down and shut up."
"We need to get in the hallway! Does this house have a basement?! What happens if the tornado kills the house?! We'll be-"
A slap was heard before Maria's calm voice spoke once more, "Sit down, be quiet and pay attention to the news guy. The tornado is moving away from us... I think."
"You think?!"
Angel took this moment to knock on the door after giving Ratchet a quick glance, "Okay, maybe I was wrong."
The door opened and Angel saw a very annoyed Maria in front of her and behind her hiding and barely peeking over her shoulder was a pouty eyed Gabe.
"Hey, girl. Everything okay?" She asked, ignoring Gabe's whimpering from behind her.
"Yes! We were just making sure you two were alright." She said, concerned for the two almost as if she were their mother.
"No we-!"
Maria covered Gabe's mouth and laughed, "We're okay. Gabe has never liked storms so she's a little anxious about hearing that there's a tornado warning."
"We have two close friends who are available to stay with you until its over." Ratchet said with a gentle smile touching his lips, "They said they stopped by earlier. They are still on our front porch trying to kill a rather big spider that made a web in the corner."
"They claim it was dangerous but they were probably just bored. I can call them. They usually walk outside in this kind of weather."
Gabe jumped up just enough that the couple could see her face while she spoke, "Please call them here!"
"Gabe!"
The blonde his back behind her friend who protested against her tight grip.
"Honestly, Gabe!"
The female firefighter laughed and texted the two 'men' rather quickly, "Everyone is afraid of something, nothing to be ashamed of."
The two said their quick goodbyes and the two men from earlier were at their door not even a minute after the couple left for the fire department.
"Skids!" Gabe all but jumped on the man who caught her with ease.
"Damn, I like being greeted like this..."
"Skids, she's scared. Give her a break."
Gabe curled up in his arms with a squeak, "I don't know what to do during a tornado warning!"
"Okay, sweetheart. I'll show you what to do." He proceeded to show her the tornado drills and positions that are taught in schools.
Maria shook her head and looked up at Mudflap. Pink was her cheeks when she caught his eyes gazing into hers. A sudden need to cough and look at his feet came over him and he tried to think of something to say.
"So, uh... Yeah, storms kind of suck."
She laughed and sat down on the couch offering him the spot next to her.
"So, tell me about yourself, handsome."
"W-well," He started, "Everyone calls me Mudflap. I have a twin brother."
Maria nodded.
"I was a soldier, so was Skids."
"Oh, really?"
"Now you."
She was quiet for a few seconds, "My name is Maria and Gabe and I are best friends who are unable to be separated. We recently had to run away and leave everything behind to get away from a crazy white man named Jake and his group of hellions because we didn't want to die."
Mudflap found himself watching her as she seemed to just go into a trance.
"Don't worry. You have my brother and me to protect you." He said with a smile.
"Thank you, Mudflap. That means a lot, it really does."
