Kiss

(Jasper POV)

He was running as fast as he could. He never saw where he was going, he just needed to run and run to get away from the feelings he was having.

How could she be so calm while talking about something like that? How could she be so kind to Nessie when all she felt was panic and fear? How can she joke about been in a hospital bet every single year, and act like that is a normal situation?

He could hear someone following him, and he knew who it was. But he couldn't stop; he needed to go as far away from that house as possible.

He had felt her fear, the panic she felt while been present with Nessie's gift, her uneasiness during the story about Harry's transit to a save place and all other emotions she had during that conversation, since she woke up from the attack. The only thing he could think of is that what she had pass in some point of her life was worse than all that, and that simple thought destroyed him more than any other thing he lived. Not even the possibility of losing Alice made him feel like he was felling now. He knew it was her past and he couldn't do anything changed, but the helpless feeling that came with this realization was crippling.

Jasper stopped for a few seconds, breathing the air looking for some animal nearby. He closed his eyes and heard his prey from a few miles away and before anyone could get to him he ran to his prey, not giving it time to process or even to run. His teeth sunk into the white-tailed deer's neck, feeling the hot blood hit the back of his throat, making the constant burn he felt a bit easier to refrain.

"You know, it isn't fun when you don't let them put up a fight." Jasper smiled at the words, looking for the source of the bumming voice. It wasn't a surprise for him that Emmett was the one after him; he always came in this type of situation. He never knew if it was Emmett's idea or if the rest of the family thought he would be the best choice. Everybody knew his carefree and happy spirit, but what people didn't know it's that in the middle of the jokes Emmett was pretty insightful and the most understanding of them all, after Carlisle and Esme, of course. And he always had a way to brighten Jasper's mood.

"Not in the mood to play with my food today, Ems." He said in the most playful manner he could, but he was so off that he almost sounded bored out of his mind.

"Something to do with the wicked witch of the east?" That was a new one. He never thought that Emmett would catch up that one in particular, but he could always play the empath card.

"It's just that her emotions were all over the place, not to mention Edward's irritation at her and George because he can't read their minds, also there is Bella's guilt, George's preoccupation and all the other emotions…" He didn't know yet when Alice would like to explain to everyone their situation, so he needed to lie his ass off.

"And the fact that she may be your true mate and that she has been through a lot has nothing to do with your outburst, right?" Jasper was stunned. How could Emmett conclude that in so little time? He and Alice were so careful when they were talking about their true mates, and always made a point to talk about it far away from home. And their talk with Carlisle and Esme about it was made in a place that none of the other members of the family could hear. "You know, you, Alice and Edward rely too much on your gifts. You guys never needed to look at someone to know what they were thinking or felling, and Alice always could see people's reactions to everything. Edward had to do that with Bella, but he only pays attention to her reactions, not everybody else's." Emmett clearly had read his expression and was replying to it. It was amazing how he never knew the big guy was this observant. "I, on the other hand, never could rely on those gifts, so I simply observe and see what comes out of it."

"But how can you be so sure that Hermione is my true mate?" Jasper asked trying to maintain his history with Alice… for now.

"Well, where to begin? Maybe by this morning; when Edward was talking about her sense his powers, and maybe yours and Alice's; your reaction was to defend her; or maybe by after that when you continued holding her even when you didn't need anymore; or when she and George were talking on the car and none of us could hear, you went there and gave her your cell number?" Emmett had that horrible smirk that said he was right about something. "And there is the obvious ones, like how you couldn't take your eyes of her when we found them on the clearing, and how you simply ignored Carlisle asking me to pick her up and take her home, or the fact that you didn't live her side ever since we found her till you were so frustrate that you needed go for a hunt so you could put your mind in place far away from Edward as possible?

"Also, you look at her like Jacob looks at Nessie, and you look at Alice like Jacob used to look at Bella before the imprint." That made him buck. He didn't know how to respond to all that. It has been just one day and he had shown all that. And worse than that, someone had notice it. He knew that at one point he would have to talk to his family, not only he, but also Alice. They were in this together and had seen all the possibilities when they decided to be together, but they never thought that it would be so difficult to simply blurt out the truth to the rest of the family, even Alice never knew all the possibilities that would come with the reviling about this secret.

"I love Alice, with all my heart, you know that, right?" He asked Emmett in a whisper, not knowing if the other guy would accept that as a truth. But the only thing he heard was a full out laughter.

"I never doubted that you love her, bro. Everybody thinks that Jacob's feelings towards Bella was only because she had the possibility to give him Nessie, but I say that is a loud of crap." He couldn't hold the faint smile that crossed his face. "Look at Leah, she had feelings for Sam the same way Jacob had for Bella, and Sam's first born was a boy, Leah saw him right before he was born and nothing happened. So their theory about Jacob's feelings for Bella is just a way to forget what happened before so nobody has to talk about it again."

He had to give that one to the big guy. He wasn't wrong about the whole thing. Jacob had strong feelings for Bella and it was the normal human love feeling, like every other one he saw on every single teenage boy. They always thought that the world would end without the girl they had a crush on, and when they were really in love with the girl they would do anything to make her safe and happy. And Jacob did all that for Bella.

Jasper knew that comparing his love for Alice to Jacob's for Bella was wrong. He loved the pixie vampire more than he would have imagined he could love someone, and he owned her so much… But he couldn't deny that he already could feel the pool that Hermione had on him, even if the feelings he had for the british girl was just confusing and based on his concern for her wellbeing, also the little bit of jealousy of her relationship with George and that guy Harry. He knew these feeling weren't love, not yet. He didn't know anything about the girl, but he wanted to know… Hell, he needed to know.

"I don't know what to do. I really love Alice, but Hermione…"

"Just got your attention the moment she walked by you, right?" He nodded in response. "She got mine too…" Jasper frowned at that, narrowing his eyes at his brother. "Not in that way, of course. I really want to see what she can do with that stick of hers; also she seems to be a bad ass, and the scars are hot, don't you think?"

(Hermione POV)

I took her a couple of minutes to notice that she wasn't being guide by Emmett or any other vampire in the house. She had stopped after a four steps at the stairs because she needed to rest, and that was went she notice the person holding her was too warm for a vampire, too warm even for a normal human. The hand that was holding hers was too big and of a brown color, different from the rest of the family and was making her sweat.

She really was slower then usual after that lost of blood. Maybe had some to do with the venom or the amount of blood, or something else.

"You are Jacob, right" She asked remembering what the blond doctor said earlier, seeing the guy nod in response. "You're not a vampire, are you?" She heard a laughter after that, looking at him with one of the eyebrows up.

"What made you think that?" She took a long breath. He was making fun of her.

"Well, you should be cold as ice instead of being hot as a volcano if you were a vampire, first of all." She said in a matter of fact voice, smirking a bit when he made a face. "Second of all, you don't have red or gold eyes, so… I think you're not a vampire, but you're not a normal human either or they would tell me earlier when I asked for a human friend."

"Really good power of deduction."

"So, what are you?!" She asked trying not to be rude with the guy that was carrying her to one of the bedrooms.

"Well, I'm a shapeshifter, I can change my human form to look like a big wolf." She looked at him for a while, trying to remember if Lupin had a high temperature, but she was drawing a blank. "No, I'm not a warewolf. We used to call ourselves warewolves, but we didn't qualify as one."

"What do you mean?" She asked really interested on the subject. She had read that a few tribes in United States had this ancient protection about vampires that would transform the young members of the tribe in animals that would help protect the tribe.

"For what I read in Carlisle library, warewolves are guided by the moon and they only transform by force when it is on it full state. The members of my tribe start changing when a vampire is near our reservation linked to us getting angry, really angry by something or someone."

She nodded calmly, taking all the information that she got from that little speech, and was surprise to see that she was in a bed after a while.

"I can turn into a otter…" She said before stopping herself. And heard a small chuckle.

"Well, that wouldn't help with this family, they like a few otters for now and then." She laughed with the big guy by her side.

"What happened with Emmett? I thought he was the one that was bringing me here."

"He went after Jasper." She once again nodded. "The others are downstairs talking to George about a few things."

"What few things?"

"Well, Carlisle suggested that you two put the tent just outside the house so there wouldn't be more accidents." She thought that it was a really good idea, so they wouldn't stop working when the vampires went for a hunt, and the vampires wouldn't have to wait them to finish something that was urgent to go for a hunt. "Now they are talking about the sleeping arrangements… George said that it's best that you two sleep in the same room and there are a lot of questions flying around about that. Are you two together or something?"

It was her time to laugh. She was getting quite tired of answering that, but she kind of understood why someone would think that since they always walked together and they did have some intimacy.

"A lot of people think that, but George and I wouldn't be a good match."

"That's because you never wanted to try…"
