The following day Sally dresses herself in a tan pants suit. It makes her look professional. She stood in front the mirror of the bathroom as she starts to put her hair up.. she stops.. she stares at herself... she lets her platinum blonde hair fall down. He takes off the suit jacket. That's a little better.. just some tan pants and a white top She untucked the shirt to. Little better. She then changed into some boot cut jeans and wore her running shoes. That's way better. She headed to Flos. Everyone in town was there having breakfast. Sally sat down at the bar.
Sally ordered some dark black coffee. She tried some of Flos pancakes and it was great. Doc was across the other bar. Reading a paper. It was kinda funny she thought. In a small town? They still had a paper?
Doc glanced over at the girl. Doc got up and left the cafe. Sally watched him leave. She was then startled by one the men. The.. hippie one. "Oh!.. hello?,." She said. Filmore spoke "Just wanna day you are a groovy lookin gal man." Sally looked at Gilmore's clothes. A red dress top. A leather brown vest. Long faded glared out jeans. She replied "Uh.. thank you." Filmore spoke up "Where you headed?" He day next to her. Sally answered. "No where. I was just driving. Getting away from my life." Flo overheard and became a little nosy as she cleaned the counter tops closer toward Sally and Filmore. Filmore spoke back. "I miss that. Just traveling to travel. No destination. I admire you." Sally smiled. Flo then asked once she was near them better "Why'd you leave?" Sally frowned and answered "I just.. I was tired and unhappy. There's nothing for me back there..". Flo frowned. Filmore amswered. "So stay a while man. No rush! If ya ever need to clear your head? Take a drive up tailfin pass. Where old wheel well sits man that place was the the bomb man." Flo spoke up then "oh you got that right!" They nodded.
Sally asked. "What was wheel well?" Filmore answered. "Just a motel. But it was classy. Always had the most beautiful music there. Famous singers would sing there. Like Elvis Partsly and the Fanblew sisters once even man!" Sally's eyes widened as she answered. "Wow really?" Flo spoke up "its right by a cliff. It had the best view. Most the time our more higher class visitors stayed there. You would have loved it darlin." Sally smiled a bit saying. "Maybe once I get a car I'll head up there." Fil and Flo smiled. Flo spoke "Hey!? We should have a good time tonight. Lets put on the old neon and have a cruise night!" Flo said loudly. Everyone in the cafe screamed and cheered up. They obviously loved the idea. Sally asked "Wait what's a cruise night?" Filmore lit up. Flo answered. "Ooooh Honey! This town does it right. We all get our old cars out. We all dress up and dance to old music from Hey day and night under the stars and the neon lights. It's does something!" Ramone walked up and grabbed his wife close pushing against her "I tell you it does." He flirted with Flo and leaned her back as if they were dancing. Sally smiled and spoke. "It sounds fun." Ramone let Flo go and replied. "Oh it is. Hey everyone! Paint jobs on me for tonight!" He ran out. Flo smiled and spoke. "Got anything to wear?" Sally smiled and laughed a little. "You want me to dress up?" Flo nodded and answered. "I'll find something for you darlin. You gotta look like you fit in!" She winked. Sally smiled a bit. She hopped down and spoke. "I wish I could see this wheel well." Flo smiled and answered. "Mater or Doc would take you up I'm sure." Sally thought about it.
She went over to Maters salvage yard. She looked around. "Hello?.. it's Sally?.. I was wondering if you could take me up tailfin pass?" Mater hopped out and answered "Well sure! What for?" Sally answered. "Wheel
Well. I think I'd like to see it?.. if your not busy?" Mater smiled and stood up straight answering "Never am I ever to busy to help a lady friend." He opened his old tricks door. Sally smiled. Mater bowed down as she walked closer. Sally curtsied. Mater and her locked eyes a moment. Mater was trustful of people so quick. Sally got inside the truck "Thanks Mater." He smiled.
The drive up was beautiful. Then Mater stopped the truck. They both got out. The doors creaked. Sally shut it. She stared at the giant wheel rock. "Wheel well.. wow this place is old isn't it?" Mater looked at it and asked. "You know your not like a lot of buisness and city people that passed through here usually?" Sally glanced over at Mater before replying. "Well. I.. thank you." Mater smiled warmly. Sally opened the door to the abandoned hotel. Old photos on the wall. Of singers singing. People dancing. Laughing. Happy memories were made here. It wasn't long they headed back to town. Sally explored the different shops. Lizzie's, where she did buy a few funny stickers and knacks. Filmore where she reluctantly tried some drinks.. not sure if she'd do that again. She headed toSarges surplus and walked and laughed along with Sarge a bit. Getting to hear old stories. She went over Luigi's and guidos. Where she saw actual white walls for the first time. "Wow these things look so cool. I only saw these tires on a few cars back home." Luigi smiled and talked about Ferrari's. Sally knew some about them. Sense a lot of men she worked with owned them back home. They talked forever about them. But guido and live started arguing about which Ferrari was better. She veered off back to Flos. Flo layed her out something on the bed in the guest room of their home to wear that night. Sally stared at it. It was a black and pink pods le skirt style dress with an ascot to match. Sally want sure if she'd wanna wear it. But she did. She wore her hair in a pony tail. When she stepped out. Ramone whistled. Flo smiled. "Fits you good girl!" Flo complimented.
Night came. It was dark. Only two and a half shops neon still worked. Lizzie had a radio out front blaring old music. It was playing the twist ast first. Everyone had there shiny old cars parked to the side of the faded road. The night stars was beautiful. Everyone wore old get ups. Suits. Flo worr am old flapper dress. This place was crazy. Everyone was dancing and having fun to the music. Mater came up and startled Sally a bit. He wore a baby blue suit with a bow tie. "Wanna dance?" Mater tried asking smoothly and let his hand out. The song changed to rockin robin. Sally took his hand and he spun her around. And did more of a bouncy style waltz. Sally laughed. It was so fun! We gone was dancing. This place was so different. So small. Mater spun her around again and let her go. She got her feet. Mater started doing some dance. Snapping his fingers and bobbing his head. Sally smiled and shook her head. Mater showed her how to move her ankles and feet along to the beat. "Okay So first get the beat going in your feet and up your back. Gotta let it take control." Sally started to slowly. "There ya go!? Now snap your fingers to it. Below your waist." She did So to. Mater stared to dance silly again. Shaking his legs back and fourth. Sally was having to much fun with this. Ramone and Flo danced together close. They looked great. Sally sat down at a table outside Flos. Next to Doc. "Why don't you get up and dance Doc?" She asked. Doc half smiled. "I like to watch. I don't dance myself." Sally
Rolled her eyes and stood up and took Docs hands. "Come on." She pulled him up. "You can't say no to this song?" The song played 'roll over Beethoven'. Even though it was a fast song. Doc and Sally slow danced. Sally layed her hands on Doc shoulders. It was nice. Doc smiled. He enjoyed it. This girl loved to help others have a good time to. She was caring. They all enjoyed it. Danicning and having fun. Doc sat back down. Sally just mingled. Suddenly the neon over at famines shit a few sparks and blinked on and off a few times. Everyone stared. The lights didn't turn back on and shocked the rest the neons out.. Sarge spoke up "Well there goes the last of the neon." It got really dark. The fun had come to an end.
