Finally, another new chapter! Sorry for the long delays on those who were waiting. Please sit back and enjoy!
Chapter 3: Family Disputes
"It's good to be back!" Ann said, taking a deep breath, enjoying her hometown's air.
"It sure is," Danny said with a grin. "This place hasn't changed a bit!"
"Pika!" Chu exclaimed, riding on Danny's head.
"C'mon!" Ann said as she grabbed Danny's arm and pulled him towards the Pokémon Center. "My mom will be surprised to see us!"
Danny sighed as his friend pulled him towards the Poke Center, a large building with a red roof and a Pokeball symbol on top of the door. They entered the automatic doors and saw a lot of people and Pokémon resting in the lobby.
Behind the counter was a woman who looked exactly like Ann, wearing a pink dress, a white apron and a white nurse's hat. With a smile, Ann ran towards the counter with Danny walking behind her.
"Welcome to the Pokémon Center," Nurse Joy said as she turned to look at Ann. "Would you like us to heal your…Ann?"
"Hi, Mom!" Ann said with a grin.
"What a pleasant surprise," Nurse Joy said with a smile. She then noticed Danny behind her.
"Hi, Nurse Joy," he said with a grin as Chu waved at her.
"It's good to see you again, Danny," Nurse Joy said. "My, how tall you've gotten."
"Thanks," Danny said with a sheepish grin. "By the way, can you heal my Pokémon?"
"Of course," Nurse Joy said with a sweet smile. "Just give us your Pokeballs and you'll have them back good as new!"
Danny nodded as he grabbed the two Pokeballs attached to his belt and placed them on the counter. Chu then jumped off his head and landed near the Pokeballs.
"You'll get them back in a few minutes," Nurse Joy said as she placed them on a tray. "Until then, please rest."
"Thank you," Danny said with a grin. Suddenly, a round, pink Pokémon with an egg on her pouch walked towards the tray and took it. "Whoa, a Chansey!"
He opened his Pokedex and looked as the screen blinked to life.
"Chansey, the Egg Pokémon," Dexter said in his mechanical voice. "Renowned for its kind temperament, Chansey has been known to offer injured creatures a highly nutritious egg to aid their recovery."
"It's so cute!" Ann squealed.
Suddenly, the doors opened again and they heard some angry stomping. Danny and Ann turned and saw Sam angrily walking towards the counter, looking at the ground, muttering.
"Hey, Sam!" Danny called, getting the girl's attention. She looked up and her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Danny and Ann in the counter.
"Hey, guys," she said, her frown turning into a smile. "Didn't expect to see you two here."
"Same here," Ann said with a chuckle. "How are you?"
"I'm…fine," Sam said in a hesitating tone.
"By the way, Sam," Danny said suddenly. "What Pokémon did you choose?"
"How about I show you," Sam said as she pulled out two Pokeballs. "Come out, you guys!"
In a flash of red light, two Pokémon appeared; one was the light green Pokémon from Prof. Oak and the other one was a purple with two small feet and large leaves on its head.
"Cool!" Danny commented as he pulled out his Pokedex and turned it to the first Pokémon.
"Bulbasaur, the Bulb Pokémon," it said. "For some time after its birth, it grows by gaining nourishment from the seeds on its back."
Danny then turned the Pokedex to the second one.
"Oddish, the Weed Pokémon. It may be mistaken for a clump of weeds. If you try to yank it out from the ground, it shrieks horribly."
"Aww, they're so cute!" Ann said with a smile.
"So you picked Bulbasaur," Danny said, looking at Sam. He suddenly noticed how down she looked. "You okay?"
"Uh…"
"Samantha!" a voice exclaimed.
Sam cringed and turned around. Danny followed her gaze and saw a man with blond hair wearing a dorky vest and brown pants walking towards Sam.
"How many times do I tell you not to run off like that?" he said as he stood in front of Sam and grabbed her arm. "Now let's go home. Your mother brought you a new pink dress!"
Danny and Ann watched as Sam groaned in embarrassment as her dad revealed a frilly, pink dress. Danny had to cover his mouth to stop himself from laughing.
"I keep telling you, I don't wanna wear that!" Sam exclaimed. "It'll get in my way during my travels!"
"Are you still insisting on that?" her dad said with a sigh. "How many times do I have to tell you; a lady doesn't go travelling."
"A lady?" Danny asked with a confused expression. Sam's dad heard him and turned to his direction.
"And who are you?" he asked.
"Oh, I'm Danny Fenton," Danny replied.
"And I'm Ann Joy," Ann said with a bow. "We're friends with Sam."
"I see," her dad said as he stared at them while Sam muttered under her breath. "Well, come now, Samantha. It's time for your piano lessons."
"I said no!" Sam exclaimed as she backed away from her dad. "I want to become a Pokémon Trainer! I already have Ivy and Plume, and I have a Pokedex! That makes me an official Pokémon Trainer!"
"You are a lady, Samantha!" her dad exclaimed angrily. "And a lady doesn't need to get involved with any of this Trainer nonsense!"
"'Trainer nonsense?'" Danny repeated, feeling angry. "What's so wrong on being a Pokémon Trainer?"
"What's right with them?" her dad countered. "They're dirty, wild and have no regards for manners."
"But they can live out their dreams!" Danny shouted, surprising everyone in the room. "They can make new friends and see new things!"
"That doesn't change the fact that they're ill-mannered."
"If you have a problem with Pokémon Trainers, then how about a Pokémon Battle?" Danny challenged.
"And why should I battle a ruffian like you?" Sam's dad said, crossing their arms.
"To prove to you that being a Trainer isn't a bad thing," Danny said with a smirk.
Sam watched as her dad thought about it, rubbing his chin. He then smiled, something that made Sam nervous.
"Okay, I'll battle you," he said. "But if I win, you have to quit being a Trainer."
Danny's eyes widened in surprise, so did Ann's and Sam's. Quit being a Pokémon Trainer? He just started being one this morning! He looked at Sam's dad, who was smirking confidently. He glared at him.
"Fine!" Danny exclaimed. "But if I win, you let Sam become a Pokémon Trainer!"
"Deal, meet me in the park thirty minutes from now," Sam's dad said as he walked towards the exit.
The three kids watched as the blond man exited the building. Suddenly, there was a ring and Nurse Joy held out the tray that had Danny's Pokémon on it.
"Your Pokémon is all heal up, Danny," Nurse Joy said as Chu jumped towards Danny and climbed on his shoulders.
"Thanks, Nurse Joy," Danny said with a grin. Suddenly, a hand forced him to turn around and saw Sam, who looked very angry.
"Are you insane!?" she demanded, nearly popping Danny's eardrum. "What in the world were thinking!?"
"Not too loud," Danny said, holding her ears.
"You can't fight him, Danny," Sam said with a worried tone. "Even if he's not a Trainer, he's too strong!"
"I'm going to fight him, Sam," Danny said as he grabbed his Pokéballs. "And I'm gonna beat him! I'll show him what a Trainer's made of!"
Danny walked towards the door as Ann followed him. Sam stared at him before she followed them to the park.
Later…
"So you showed up?" Sam's dad said as he faced Danny, his arms crossed. "I thought you'd be out of town by now."
"I never run away from a Pokémon Battle," Danny said with a determined expression.
The two were currently in the park, standing in a clear area. Ann, Chu and Sam were on the bench, cheering for Danny while a guy in a suit wearing shades was standing in the middle of the field, acting as the referee.
"This will be a one on one match between Danny Fenton of Pallet Town V.S. Jeremy Manson of Viridian City," the referee said. "Now choose your Pokémon!"
"Shine, Victreebel!" Jeremy exclaimed as he threw the Pokeball. In a flash of red light, a yellow, plant-like Pokémon with two leaves acting as its legs and a leaf on its giant mouth appeared. It glared at Danny with its beady eyes.
"Who's that?" Danny said, pulling out Dexter.
"Victreebel, the Venus Flytrap Pokémon. Said to live in huge colonies deep in jungles, although no one has ever returned from there."
"I see," Danny said as he looked at the Plant Pokémon. "Then I have the perfect dance partner for you!"
He pulled out his Pokeball from his waist and smirked.
"Char, go battle!" he shouted as he threw the device in the air. In a flash of red light, Char appeared and roared loudly. Ready to battle.
"First battle, start!"
"Alright Char, start it off with Scratch!" Danny exclaimed.
Char charged and swung his claws at the Victreebel, who was just standing there.
"Victreebel, Vine Whip!" Jeremy exclaimed.
The Plant Pokémon jumped up to avoid Char and two vines extended from its head. Before Char could react, the Vine Whip grabbed him by the arm and threw him to the ground.
"Char!" Danny exclaimed as Char slowly stood up.
"Now use Razor Leaf!" Jeremy ordered with a smirk. Victreebel swished its head, firing small leaves at the groggy Charmander.
"Quick Char, counter with Ember!" Danny shouted.
Char shook his head and whipped his tail towards the leaves, firing a small stream of fire towards them. The leaves were turned to ashes as the two attacks met head on.
"Now use Growl!" Char let out a loud Growl at Victreebel, who screeched in pain. "Now use Scratch!"
Char attacked, and this time, he managed to hit it. Victreebel was being pushed back by the Scratch attack, the Charmander not giving it time to rest.
"Acid, Victreebel!" Jeremy shouted.
Victreebel dodged another Scratch attack and spat a gobble of green liquid towards Char.
"Dodge it, Char!" Danny exclaimed.
Char quickly jumped aside to avoid the acid. Danny's eyes widened when he looked at the Acid hit the ground, melting the solid ground into liquid.
"Whoa," Danny said with awe. "The ground melted."
"Keep up the Acid, Victreebel!" Jeremy ordered.
Char just kept dodging the Acid attack, trying hard not to get hit.
"That is some Acid attack," Ann said with a worried expression. "It's obvious that Victreebel is well-trained."
Danny looked at the puddle before turning to the Victreebel, thinking for a counter attack. He then noticed fumes coming from the Pokémon's mouth.
"Grab that little lizard then finish it with Acid!" Jeremy shouted.
Before Char could react, two vines grabbed him by the arms and lifted the Charmander up in the air. Char moved his little legs to free himself, but it was no use. Victreebel opened its mouth and was about to spit acid.
"Now Char! Ember!" Danny exclaimed.
Char stopped struggling and whipped his tail towards Victreebel's opened mouth, shooting small flame towards it.
"Victreebel!" Jeremy exclaimed as the fire entered its mouth.
The acid in its body touched the flame and exploded, burning the Victreebel. Char jumped away from the burned Victreebel, who fell to the ground, its eyes swirling.
"Victreebel is unable to battle!" the referee exclaimed as he gestured at Danny and Char. "The winner is Danny Fenton of Pallet Town!"
"Alright, Char!" Danny cheered as Char jumped up and down in joy. Ann, Chu and Sam ran towards Danny, shouting congratulations.
Jeremy walked towards Victreebel and helped it up.
"You did well, Victreebel," he said with a sad smile, pulling out a Pokeball. "You earned a good rest."
He sighed and looked at Danny, wondering how he lost.
"I think you know why you lost, Jeremy," a voice said. Surprised, everyone turned to the source and saw an old woman on a scooter, her gray hair tied to a bun.
"Who's that?" Danny asked. His question was answered when Sam ran towards the old lady and hugged her.
"Grandma!" she exclaimed happily.
"It's nice to see you again, Samantha," the old lady said. She then turned to Jeremy. "Now then, son. The reason why you lost to this young man is because you lack the spirit."
"S-s-spirit?" Jeremy asked, confused.
"Ever since you stop being a Trainer, you lost the spirit for Pokémon Battle," the old lady said.
"You were a Pokémon Trainer!" Sam exclaimed, surprised.
"That was history," Jeremy said with a huff. "I stopped being a Trainer because it's dirty work."
"No," the old lady said. "You stopped being a Trainer because you lost. That day, that Trainer defeated you mercilessly."
"'That Trainer?'" Danny repeated, his tone curious.
"You were once the pride of Viridian City," the old lady explained. "You were unbeatable and gained all the badges in Kanto. But then, during the Pokémon League, you lost to him."
"Since that day, you stopped traveling and started running the family business," the old lady said with a smile. "And you didn't want Samantha to feel the same lost you felt."
Jeremy looked down, looking sad. Sam looked at her father with a surprise look. She then walked towards him and gave him a hug, surprising him.
"Dad…" she said as she smiled at him. "You don't have to worry about me. I'm strong!"
"But Samantha..." Jeremy said with a worried look.
"And besides," Sam added. "Becoming a Pokémon Trainer is my dream!"
Jeremy stopped and stared at Sam with shock and awe. Those were the same words he said to his father, who tried to stop him from being a Pokémon Trainer. Jeremy slowly smiled and hugged her daughter.
"You're right, it is your dream," he said as he looked at her daughter. "And I shouldn't stop you."
Danny and Ann smiled as they looked at the father and daughter.
"You know, young man," Sam's grandmother said, approaching Danny. "You remind me of that Trainer. What is your name, again?"
"Danny Fenton," Danny replied.
The old lady looked up a bit when she heard the name Fenton. She then smiled and turned around.
"You'll go far, boy," she said with a smile. Danny looked at her with a confuse expression.
Later…
"Well, I'm off!" Sam said as she grinned at Danny and Ann, who were standing in front of the Poke Center. "It's been nice seeing you guys again."
"It's nice seeing you, too," Ann said.
"Hope we see each other again," Danny said with a grin. Sam smiled back at him.
"Thanks for everything, Danny," Sam said. "If we ever meet again, let's have a Pokémon Battle!"
"Sure thing, Samantha!" Danny said.
A vein popped from Sam's head. Before Danny could react, she whacked Danny on the head, giving him a big bump.
"Don't call me Samantha!" Sam exclaimed angrily as Danny rubbed his head. "It's too girly!"
"Geez! You don't have to hit me, Samantha!" Danny said.
"Don't call me that!" Sam exclaimed.
Danny and Ann laughed as they waved at Sam, who was running on the road. As soon she was out of sight, the two friends entered the Pokémon Center.
"Today sure was interesting!" Danny said as they sat down, waiting for Char, who was being treated.
"Yeah!" Ann said with a smile. "That battle was amazing. You're really getting better, Danny."
"Really?" Danny said sheepishly. "Thanks!"
Danny then thought about what Sam's grandmother said about that Trainer. He looked up the ceiling, wondering about who this mysterious Trainer is.
Hope you guys like the chapter. Who is this mysterious Trainer and why did Sam's grandma think this Trainer is like Danny? Next chapter, Ash will appear, that means Team Rocket will try to get the Pokémons! Review time!
SonOfLucifer- Thanks for the advice.
KuriMaster13- That's gotta shock his ego. Get it?
JP-Rider- Team White…Good idea. Maybe Vlad could be the boss.
Locobat12345- Well, there's fire, ghost, fighting, ice, dragon, fighting, flying, electric, bugs, normal…that's it. Ann will probably have a few normal types, like an Eevee or something.
WOLF- Thanks. Be sure to stay tune for Ash's introduction. As for Dan and Jazz…well, Jazz will appear in the Hoenn Region and Dan will be in the Kalos Region, so they won't make any appearances for a while. As for Danny/May…maybe in a different story. Still haven't decided. Thanks for the support.
draken14142- I will give Skulker a Steel Type, but not yet. The story is still in the Kanto Region, so no Steel Types, yet. Also, Ember's Pokémon does sound fitting for her. Maybe she could be in the Johto League, like that guy with the Blaziken. And Cujo could be a repeating Pokémon character that keeps following Danny in his journey until he captures it. Wulf…good idea, I'll be sure to use it. Youngblood could be a youngster Trainer with a mischievous Ghastly and good idea for Johnny and Kitty. Thanks for the ideas!
guess the guest- I already have a role for Vlad; he's gonna be Giovanni's second in command, until he betrays him with his own secret organization. Bu he's still trying to win Maddie over. In this story, Vlad will have a different reason for hating Jack. It will be revealed in the future chapters.
Dragonsrules18- Thanks. Sam and Tucker will appear as friends and rivals, Ghastly is nicknamed Gar. Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Kaybugg1- Hey, his a hunter. All hunters are cruel! Except Team Rocket, they're funny.
silverwolf7791- She will be. But she'll appear in the Johto Region.
PhantomSpirit- Awesome. I could use this character. She could be an old rival for Dan. Though she'll have to be in a cameo first, since most of the Pokémons she has won't be introduced, yet. Thanks for the OC!
Phew! Another good day of work! By the way, I will be accepting OCs, maybe five or six of them. Also, the Pokémon they have has to be First Generation, cause this is still the Kanto Region. Maybe one or two Second Generation, but just that. Well, time for me to rest. See you guys later!
