Rusty stepped into the condo with Brenda after he keyed into the place. He turned on the lights walking with Brenda following him.
"Wow, very nice." Brenda nodded with approval. "Um, this is it."
Brenda hummed to herself. Rusty shuffled his feet. "Um, Brenda. I'm hungry."
"Oh yeah. I am starving, too. What are we having for dinner?" "I thought you are the one to suggest."
"How about pizza?"
"What?! Sharon would freak. We can't have a pizza on the school night. How about I cook up the spaghetti?"
"I am in the mood for pizza. Secondly, I am the one who's in charge. I say, we are having pizza. That's the order," Brenda firmly said.
Rusty stared at her. "Okay." Rusty raised his hands with defeat. "When Sharon asks, it's all you."
"Psh, I'll deal with the Captain and her rules. Okay, do you know the place to call it in and deliver it?"
"What do you want on the pizza?"
"All meat." Brenda suggested and saw Rusty's displeasing expression.
"What? Sharon wanted you to eat your vegetables? You are growing kid. You need to have some meat on your bones. Okay, how about this? All meat with green peppers and mushrooms." Rusty thought of it and then, he dialed the number.
Sharon opened the door. There was a wave of greasy cheese smell. It may smell delightful but she knew that she only reserved pizza for weekend. She toed off her shoes.
"Chief?"
"In here!" Sharon walked and saw a huge box of pizza on her table.
"Rusty, I specifically told you that it is only for weekend."
"Sharon, Brenda is in charge. She ordered me to have this pizza. How am I supposed to argue with her?"
"You must not have fought hard enough. Have you done your homework?" Sharon looked at Rusty with knowing look. Rusty shrunk into his seat.
"Go, do your homework." Rusty got up and picked his plate up. He dropped it into the trash. Rusty was out of Sharon and Brenda's sights.
"Chief, I cannot believe you."
"Sharon, this pizza has protein. It includes peppers and mushrooms." "It's greasy and unhealthy."
Brenda picked up the pizza and put the slice against Sharon's tight lip.
"I will not eat it."
"I can't eat all of it myself. I planned on letting Rusty have it, but you sent him to his room. Sharon, it's delicious." Sharon stared at it and took a bite out of it.
Brenda watched Sharon biting the pizza. She felt a blush rushing to her cheeks. She cannot believe that she just fed the Wicked Witch a pizza out of her hand. When the slice of the pizza was gone, Brenda noticed Sharon's eyes and saw it was dark. Brenda absorbed herself into Sharon's dark pupils. Then, Sharon cleared her throat.
"Chief, this still does not change the fact that you made Rusty break the rules."
"Come on, Sharon. Rusty is a growing kid and you left me in charge of Rusty."
"Chief, Rusty is under my care and my rules. You are here to enforce my rules."
"Okay, I may be the worst supervisor for Rusty but that no pizza rule until weekend is ridiculous."
"It's important to me because I believe healthy food brings good focus at school for kids at Rusty's age. I enforced that same rule on my son and daughter."
"It's just one school night with a pizza."
"You have got to be the worst baby sitter ever."
"I know. Isn't it awesome?" Brenda says sarcastically as she picked up her bag. Sharon stared at that unforgiving purse. She realized that some things do not change. Sharon rolled her eyes at Brenda's childish way.
"I need to let Rusty know that I am leaving."
"Okay. His room is at the end of the hall on the right."
Brenda walked down the hall and she realized Rusty had left his door open. "Hey, Rusty."
"Yeah." Rusty looked up from his textbook.
"I'm leaving. So bye."
"Okay. Remember dinner on Saturday?"
"Yes. I wouldn't miss it for the world." Rusty watched Brenda walking away.
Rusty knew something is going on between Brenda and Sharon because he witnessed Brenda feeding Sharon the slice of pizza. They stared at each other in a way that he had no words for it. He walked away from the scene. He chuckled when he heard their argument. He wondered if there was something that Sharon had not told him. He went back to the textbook.
Note: I was in the mood for pizza after I wrote this. What's more flirty than feeding the person with pizza? I dreamed that my crush will feed me with pepperoni pizza. Thank you, BeyondDelusional for beta reading.
