Chapter 4

Phantasma's PoV***************************************

From that time, onward, I looked after little Danny Fenton. The Fentons, at first, were relieved when the police found their child by the lake shore next door. Later, they were concerned by the fact that he suddenly started talking to imaginary friends. But, since ghost detectors never worked around him—a side effect of being a medium; ghost detection devices don't work—they believed I was just an imaginary friend. So now, here we were, on the first day of preschool.

"Phanty?" Danny asked, looking up at me with his bright blue eyes. His mother and teacher shared an amused look at his talking to thin air. "You gonna stay with me?" My dress crinkled as I kneeled down next him.

"Of course, hun. Why don't you go play on the playground?" I gestured out to the jungle gym and Danny nodded before running off. I followed at a much more leisurely pace and leaned up against the jungle gym, making sure he didn't slip.

"Excuse me, Miss?" I looked towards the voice automatically to see a small, dark skinned boy with a red cap and a Gameboy staring straight at me. "Who are you?"

-OoO-

"Oh, God!" Cass burst out laughing as soon as they were both safe in her apartment. "Did you see the look on Jeremy's face when I told him you 'live' in an abandoned asylum!?"

"What about your dad's when I told him I talked you into getting that tattoo?" Dan snickered back. "He looked like he was going to have a heart attack right there!"

The two had just returned from a dinner with Cass's family. While Ida was happy that the two had 'finally gotten together', but her father and brother, Jeremy, had completely hated Dan, much to him amusement. Dan leered at his beautiful girlfriend and asked, "May I see it again?" His white hair flickered back into flames as he replaced his human form with ghost.

Cass smirked as she pulled down her shirt to reveal the tattoo inked above her left breast. It was a black heart, with his emblem in white at the center. "You own my heart." She shuttered as Dan lightly traced its outline.

"Yes…and you own mine." Dan murmured as he kissed the sensitive skin, brushing it with his fangs. Cass gave a deep-throated moan.

"Dan!" She shouted, and he replied with a growl. Throwing an ectoblasts at the only light in the room, the bulb shattered and the couple fell back on the bed.

-OoO-

"You can see her?" Danny asked before I could. "But I thought only I could see her!"

"Well, I can see her too! I can see a lot of weird things!" The boy replied defensively, then gave us a curious look and stuck out his hand. "My name is Tucker."

Danny clamored down the jungle gym and shook Tucker's hand. "I'm Danny and she's Phanty. What game are you playing?" He pointed to the Gameboy.

"Pokémon Blue. I asked my mom for the new Pokémon Silver, but she hasn't gotten it yet. Wanna see me fight Team Rocket?"

"Sure!" I smiled as Danny sat beside Tucker on the mulch-covered ground, both avidly talking about various move combos.

Who would have guessed that there was another medium in Amity Park?

-OoO-

"I'm…pregnant?" Cass gasped at the doctor as Dan's hard arms wrapped themselves around her waist. She's been throwing up the past few days, so Dan had made her go to the doctor, but she'd never expected this.

"Yes, Miss Manson, the blood tests confirm it. You're about 3 weeks along." The doctor stated, ignorant to her inner turmoil. "I have some good books if you'd like—"

"Could we have a few minutes alone please?" Dan cut him off and the doctor sniffed in disgust before nodding and leaving. "Cass?" He brushed the hair out of her eyes to see the emerald lights he loved so much dim. "What's wrong?"

"I'm 20 years old, Dan!" She sobbed, tears flowing freely. "Not only is having a kid with a ghost scientifically impossible, but I don't know anything about raising a baby! How am I going to raise it while dealing with college!?"

"Do…" Dan worked to get rid of the sudden lump in his throat. "Do you want to get rid of it?"

Cass's eyes widened before she slapped him full across the face. "Don't be an idiot! I would never kill our baby!"

Dan shook off the pain from the slap and gave her a crooked grin. "Then don't worry about it. I'll take care of you AND the baby."

She gave him a weak smile as she wrapped her arms around her middle, mimicking holding a baby. "I'm 20 years old and having a baby with my ghostly boyfriend. How did life get so weird?"

"Well, I can't do much about your age, or my lack of pulse, but I can change something in that sentence." Dan swooped down in front of her, on one knee, and said, "Cassandra Eve Manson, will you grant me the absolute honor of being my wife?"

-OoO-

In the lair of the Time Master, a dented thermos fell from its shelf, only to be put back.
