As Rayman and Shantae entered the Labyrinth, they discovered that the scenery of it was decorated with crystals, and obviously water. They looked around it, searching for whatever thing that is of significant importance to their adventure. They see waterfalls and a locked door that Shantae was familiar with. Rayman noticed a pit full of water and figured out that is where to advance through the labyrinth as of now. Rayman says to Shantae, "That pit of water looks rather deep, do you have a transformation to swim under there in a short amount of time?" Shantae smiles and replies, "I just got the perfect transformation! Watch!" She starts to do her belly dance and she transforms into a mermaid. Rayman then says, "I thought you could only transform into animals, you never told me that you could also transform into mythical creatures." Mermaid Shantae scratched behind her head and sheepishly said, "Heh heh, I did. I forgot to mention I could turn into these kinds of creatures as well, but the harpy is a mythical creature and you didn't say anything there." Rayman scratch his head as well and replies, "Oh yeah, but in all fair, harpies are part animal and I'm used to strange animals in my world, so anything animal-like I just assume that they are a species of animal."
Shantae asks Rayman, "Ok, I see. Now, how good are you at holding your breath?" Rayman replies, "Well, I suppose a fair amount of time. I guess I have to since my water form might not be able to submerge in water as the geysers would just make me go atop of the water." Shantae nods and replies, "Ok, because if we go in this water pit, I need you to hold onto me tight as I'm going to swim really fast. Is that ok with you?" Rayman moves his eyes around the area and back at Shantae and says, "Sure." With that, Mermaid Shantae jumps into the water and plunged into the cool water and rises up and positions herself so that Rayman could hold onto her, Rayman goes in as well and holds onto her waist and off they go! To Rayman, the ride through the water was as fast as he expects from when you ride on a dolphin. He had no trouble holding on since he can hold onto the walking rockets from his world with no sweat. They reached to their destination which was a room with an open door with a treasure chest.
Rayman got jumped on dry land and fans his hair dry. Shantae returns to normal and got out of the water. "How was the ride? Not too bumpy?", Shantae asks Rayman with a smile on her face. Rayman looks at Shantae and replies, "It's not bad, I ride on things all the time. Anyway... looks like we got a some choices here." Shantae says to Rayman, "First, we should open this chest, do you want to do the honor?" Rayman nods and opens the chest with a fist at it and a key pops out of it, he grabs it and gives it to Shantae which then she presents it in the air with a big smile on her face and puts it in her inventory. Shantae looks around and tells Rayman, "Well... it looks like I have to go back to the first room and open that door, why don't you go on without me into this door and we meet up later?"
Rayman nods and they go their separate ways... for now. Rayman enters the door and sees a room full of enemies. He shouts, "YAHOOO!" As he loves beating the tar out of any barrage of enemies that comes in his way. He jumps into the action and throws his fists at anything moving in his sight. While he does this, Shantae reaches for the locked door in the first room and pulls out the key and twists it in the lock and it unshackles the door open and she heads inside. The unlocked room has a crystal puzzle where Shantae has to move the crystals so the light shining at the ceiling will refract at the locked door. She gets out her trusted elephant transformation with a belly dance sequence and uses it to push the crystals into their desired location to unlock the door. The movable crystals are actually movable crystal statues of a mermaid, but it wasn't much of a trouble to get them all in their right place as the door opens and Shantae heads inside.
Rayman finishes off the horde of enemies with his trusted fists and heads for the door, he discovers a room filled with tubes and switches that are in the tubes. He was puzzled by the seemly complex room, then he noticed he might be able to use his Water Rayman form so he snapped to it and transforms into his watery form. He then shoots water into the tubes and tries to flip the switches to see what they do, it doesn't seem like they do anything but this doesn't stop Rayman from trying combinations of switches to press. He couldn't seem to find the right combination of switches to press so he stopped and looked at his surroundings. He sess a drawing on one of the walls and notices that it shows the right combination to press. It says to press the first switch, skip the other one, press the third switch, and skip two but not the second to last one. He tried doing this combination and it caused the tubes to shoot out water, it all goes to a hole at the ceiling. Coincidentally it goes to the room that Shantae's in, she notices the room flood and she quickly transforms into her mermaid form and it fills the room all the way full. A tube appears next to the locked door to the next room, she shoots a bubble in the tube and made the door open and she heads inside.
Rayman's next room has targets for him to hit, he notices that they are too high up for him to reach, he tries transforming into his water form and shooting water at it, the target goes back a bit before going back to it's original position. "What gives?" , Rayman says to himself. He tries shooting all the targets at once with water and they click, what Rayman got for his troubles is a ceiling pouring out water and a squid to fight. Without a clue on what to do with this squid, the ceiling also poured out Shantae as she was upstairs. She lands on the squid and bounces next to Rayman. She then greeted the watery thing-a-ma-jig with a wave and a wink. Rayman then says to Shantae, "So... you've been up there the whole time?" Shantae nods and replies, "Were you the one who flooded that room up there?" Rayman nods, Shantae then shakes her head and sighs, "You've angered this squid, hope you know that." The squid roars and goes after the two in combat. The duo quickly dodges the squid and Rayman shoots water at it, Shantae then got an idea to ride the water and charge at the squid, her plan works as the impact smacks the squid into a wall and made it bounce around the room.
The duo then strikes it with a downwards slam and it busts a hole in the floor and drains all the water. The door open and they head inside. They see a fountain, Rayman has no clue what it means but Shantae does. She goes near it and looks at her reflection and a giant blue, spirit-like version of her appears out of the fountain... it spoke to Shantae. "Welcome to the spirit of the fountain, Shantae. You'll be presented with a new transformation. Please accept it." With that, the spirit disappears and Shantae floats and spins around and the new transformation power goes into Shantae with red power orbs. Rayman watches with amazement, after this was over, Shantae is delicately placed back on the ground. Rayman asks Shantae, "So a new form, huh?" "Yeah, I wonder what this new form is?" , Shantae replies to the thing-a-ma-jig with wonder. "You should see what it is, it could be something really cool." , Rayman asks Shantae curiously.
What could the new form be? Next chapter we'll find out as they continue on in the labyrinth.
