It was getting dark. And me and my team were exhausted. Less than 2 hours ago, we had an encounter with a swarm of Beedrill and Ariados. And it was to close for comfort. It was a good thing Axe and Armor arrived just in time to save the day.
I stop and stretch, groaning as my shoulders crack. "Everyone, let's make camp. AWAY from any swarms of wild pokemon."
Axe, Armor, Spear, and Felicity all nod in agreement.
"OK then. Armor and Spear, you two go get some firewood. Felicity, you stay here with me and try to rustle up some berries to eat. Axe….. can you unpack my sleeping bag?"
The group nods happily and get about their given duties. Though, I could feel their eyes still on me, making sure I don't run into any other problems. I thought it was sweet.
It doesn't take long for me to find some berries. They were small, blue ones. I pull out my shirt, using it like a basket, and start to pluck the small fruits from the bush. As I do, I start to hear what sounds like whimpering. I stop plucking the berries and look around. It seemed to be coming from my right. I let go of my shirt, dropping the berries. I turn back to my pokemon.
"Hey, come here."
They all quickly stop their tasks and hurry over, expecting a fight. I quickly shush them and hold a hand up to my ear. They get the point and remain quiet to listen.
They all soon look at me. So I wasn't going crazy. They could hear it as well.
"I think someone may be in trouble. Can you handle a fight?"
My pokemon glare at me, as if I just insulted their very being. I scoff and start to walk towards the sound. It doesn't take me long to find the source. And what I found surprised me and my pokemon.
It was a small girl, maybe about 7 years old, on her knees with her hands by her face. Tears poured down her tiny cheeks. I slowly push the bushes away from me and step closer.
The girl hears my movements and looks up. She quickly spots me easily and jumps up in alarm. After a few awkward moments, the girl runs up, crying her eyes out, and hugs me around my waist. My pokemon were just as surprised as I was. When the girl suddenly ran towards me, Axe and Armor prepared themselves to pounce the little girl.
Hesitantly, I signal them to lower their guard and I stop out to the little girl. I slowly make my way next to her and kneel down, putting an arm around her shoulders. She sniffles and looks up at me and I smile softly.
"What's wrong? Are you lost?" I ask as softly as I could.
She sniffles and shakes her head. She raises her arm and wipes away her tears. A blush appears on her face and she looks down at the ground.
"Sage got her pokemons stoled. Sage tried to get them back, but the mean people went inside a scary towery thing..." She starts to tear up again and soon resumed her crying.
I could see why she was crying. If my pokemon were stolen by someone, I would be pretty damaged as well. I rub her head and smile softly. "Well maybe I can help you. My pokemon are pretty strong."
Sage sniffles and looks up with wavy eyes. "Y-You would do that? For me?" I smile and nod. The girl cheers up quite a big and nuzzles her face into my belly. "Oh thank you! Thank you!"
The girl grabs my hand and starts to pull me forward. "Come on! The tower thingy is over this way!" I yelp and stagger forward. My pokemon quickly follow behind, even as I start to return them to their pokeball's one by one.
We ran for maybe a good ten minutes before arriving at our destination. And I have to admit, Sage wasn't lying when she said it was scary. Well, it was more intimidating than scary in my case. But I knew for a fact that it didn't belong to any of the big criminal syndicates. There was no signs or guards.
It was about 6 stories tall. It wasn't a thick building either. I gulp and start to walk to the duel doors at the base. Just before I was able to open them up, a man yanked the doors open and glared at me.
"Buzz off kids. Whatever you're sellin', we're not buyin."
I gasp and glare back at him. Just before I could retaliate for his rudeness, Sage sprints up from behind me and slams her foot into the man's crotch. I let out a sharp gasp and groan. I wasn't even the one who got hit and my stomach hurts now. The rude man lets out a squeak and collapses to the ground in the form of a sorry pile of pain.
I whisper sorry to the man and hurry past him. "Sage, slow down!" But my voice ran through deaf ears as the small girl soon disappeared from my sight. I start to slow down until I've come to a complete stop. The girl was gone.
"Damn she's fast….." I sigh, trying hard to catch my breath. It was only than that I realized that I had no idea where I was. I was lost….. Inside some criminal organization's base. "Shit…."
A chuckle echo's behind me and I quickly turn around. Three large and very intimidating men stood there, less than 30 feet away. They start to approach me, watching me in case I try anything. The middle one (just like in most anime/manga) was the first to talk.
"We were just walkin' da halls when ya ran past us."
And of course, the one on his left had to right had to repeat him.
"Yeah~ Ya jus' ran past!"
A shiver vibrates down my spine. Not because I knew I was in trouble, but because of how cliche this was. I reach down to my belt and grab Spear's, Armor's, and Axe's pokeballs. I smirk and hold them up.
"If you badonkadonk's want to tussle, I know a thing or two about battling." I smirk bravely, but my shaking legs would probably give away my brave front to a more fearful human. I throw up my three pokeball's and bring out my most powerful.
Right away, the men's smirks get wider. They each pull out a pokeball and toss them into the air. And of course… the opponents for my Beedrill, Scizor, and Heracross would be a Pigeot, Rapidash, and a Kadabra. Because I have the best of luck. I let out a groan and I could visibly see all my pokemon tense up. And judging by the smug looks on my enemy's faces, their pokemon may be even level to mine, maybe stronger.
I gulp and nod. "We can do this." I huff and glare at the others. "Ok! Axe, use Mach Punch on the Rapidash! Spear, Twin Needle on the Kadabra. Armor, Stone Edge on the Pidgeot!"
The thugs huffed in annoyance and the middle one (I'm gonna call him Leader for now.) holds out his hand. "Rapidash, use Counter!"
I let out a squeak of alarm just before my Heracross' punch landed. Almost instantly, Axe is sent flying backwards and crashes into the wall. Axe groans in pain and pushes himself up.
"Kadabra, Fire Punch!" I gasp and look over, watching just as the Psychic type lands a blazing fist against Spear's face, sending her spiraling backwards.
Before I could even register what was going on, Armor lands next to me, pretty beaten up from taking the Pidgeot's Brave Bird attack head on. My breathing starts to get heavy and rapid. My head starts to get dizzy and I stumble a bit. My strongest pokemon were lying around me, almost KOed from just 1 attack each.
Leader holds his hand up and smiles. "Rapidash, roast this chick with Fire Blast."
The stallion neighs and rears back. It's mouth starts to overflow with fire. Once it slams back down onto the ground, it opens its mouth and releases a huge plume of fire. My mind screams at me to move. My body trembles as it attempts to move out of the way of the inferno raging towards me. My life, how ever short, flashes before my eyes and I close them, bracing myself for the burn.
It was then that I heard the chirp of Sage's voice. I feel an intense gust of wind pass by me and the smell of smoke fills my nose. My eyes slowly open and I gaze upon the little girl standing in front of me, a belt of pokeball's around her waist.
"You said your pokemon were strong." She giggles and holds out her hand. "Sage made a new friend. His name is Phantom." She steps aside, revealing the same person I thought I saw floating in the air only an hour before.
His hand was outstretched, as if he stopped the Fire Blast himself. A pokeball suddenly appears in his hand and he sends out a Hitmonchan. Sage helps me up and she pulls off one of her own pokeballs. "Let's even things out!"
I smile and return my pokemon, except Axe, who wanted to keep on fighting (stubborn Heracross). I look down at Sage and nod. "Let's."
The small girl squeals happily and throws up her pokeball. "Come out and help Razzberry!"
A large form appears in the air and slams down on the floor, creating a cloud of dust. "Ty-" A large arm suddenly swings out from the cloud, blowing it away. "-ranitar!"
