Chapter 4: Getting Into Dangerous Trouble
I was slowly walking towards the motel where I was staying at that time. I was completely alone on the path that led towards the motel. There was no one within visual distance of me. However, I wasn't concerned about that. My mind was full of other thoughts. Why the cops are lying to me? What are they trying to hide? What is the truth behind my sister's disappearance? Is there anyone else besides the cops who could answer me my questions? Is there no hope for my sister? Is she even alive or she is long gone? What? What must have happened to her? What did Sophia find out about the peaceful looking town? My train of thoughts were interrupted as I suddenly felt that I am being followed. I looked over my shoulder but found no one suspicious around me. Actually there was no one around me. I started walking again and again I felt as if someone is walking behind me. I turned around completely and this time I noticed the two guys earlier from the Grill. They were sitting at the bar and getting drunk. But why are they coming towards me? Before I could think of anything they were right in front of me and looking down at me one with a smirk playing on his lips and the other with a serious face. Instead of getting scared and running away from them, I crossed my arms over my chest and looked pointedly at them.
"From staring to stalking within half an hour. You guys seem professional criminals. But the question is what do you want from me?" I asked with serious tone of voice.
"Oh we are more than some common criminals, darling" said the one who was still smirking at me. "And to answer your question, I want you to stop looking for your sister." I couldn't help but frown at him with confusion.
"And why exactly do you want that? I mean you don't even know me." Then something clicked in my mind. "You don't know me but there is a possibility that you might know my sister. Do you know where Sophia is?" I asked him with desperation, forgetting the fact that these two stranger men could be very dangerous and could seriously hurt me or even kill me.
"See I told you she is gonna ask a lot of questions. Why can't you just compel her to stop looking for her sister or choose the better option which is kill her. And if you are unable to do that, I can always help" said the guy with crystal blue eyes. Even after hearing about their plan of killing me, I didn't try to run away or get scared. I was too determined to find out about my sister to worry about my own safety.
"I don't like repeating myself Salvatore. I told you this one is mine. I get to decide what to do with her" said the other one. The smirk that was playing on his lips dropped from his face and replaced a very serious look within seconds. I could only wonder who the hell are they? I couldn't stop myself from saying.
"Wow, I didn't know I have an owner here who has the right to decide my fate." I looked straight into the eyes of that guy and said fearlessly. "Listen to me carefully Mr. Whoever you are, you don't scare me and you surely can't. control. me. There is nothing you can do that would make me give up looking for my sister." I thought my saying that would anger him further but the smirk returned to his face once again.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that darling if I were you. However, I am certain now that I am not gonna kill you off, not yet at least. You seemed to be quite entertaining and it would be fun to keep you around" said the guy with a wicked kind of gleam in his eyes and the other guy with blue eyes rolled his eyes to himself. I threw a glare at their way and said-
"In your dreams" saying that I turned around to leave. Why was I bothering with them in the first place? I am really losing my sanity. However before I could take one step forward I found my way blocked.
"We haven't formally met yet, I am Kol Mikaelson." The guy said with a mischievous smirk playing on his lips this time and he had his hand extended towards me. I took in a deep breath, feeling more irritated this time. I know I have every reason to be scared of him, to be fearful right now but I wasn't. I simply wasn't scared. Maybe because I was looking for danger in the first place and had myself mentally prepared for situations such as this one without even knowing about it.
"Not interested." I said with a bitter sweet smile and a roll of my eyes at him. I tried to walk away once again but this time instead of finding my way blocked, I had my arm in a firm grip. It was threatening to break my bone and I couldn't help but flinch because of the pain. Kol, I didn't even know if it was his real name, dragged me back to face him again. He looked quite furious this time. I tried to free my hand from his grip but it only hurt me more.
"Loose the attitude darling." He hissed at me dangerously. "You have no idea what I am capable of doing to you."
"And you have no idea what I am capable of handling." I said glaring back at him more heatedly than last time. However my glare soon faltered as Kol put more pressure on my arm and I might have heard a cracking sound. A scream of pain threatened to come out of my mouth but I swallowed it. Even though I was a lot weaker than him in strength but I didn't want to look weak for the sake of my dignity.
"Hey hey hey, if you want to keep her alive, you should keep her in one piece" said the other guy and pushed Kol away from me. I was actually feeling thankful to him for doing that or I am pretty sure I would have lost my arm tonight.
"Damon Salvatore, always butting in my business" said Kol with a fake pleasant voice. Anyone could tell that he was beyond angry at the moment. "It's time to teach you a lesson again. After all it's been a while since you learned one."
Just as he finished saying that Kol went behind Damon in a blink of an eye and snapped his neck, killing him instantly. Damon's lifeless body dropped on the street. I was gaping at Kol openly this time. What was he? What he just did, it was humanly impossible. How could he move so fast? When Kol looked back at me this time, my heart started beating faster and felt like it's going to burst into pieces in my chest any time.
"Finally" said Kol as he approached me slowly like a predator. "I was wondering when I would see fear in your eyes."
"What are you?" I asked in a whisper because I could barely speak. It made Kol smirk again and happy as well as if he was dying to tell me what he really was. However, he didn't give me the answer in words but in action. Well actions speak louder than words after all. Suddenly his eyes turned red and veins started to appear under his lashes. I could see fangs coming out of his gum. It didn't take me long to understand that Kol in fact was a vampire.
"Oh my god!" came out of my mouth following a horrified gasp. Is this what Sophia was trying to tell me about? Vampires? I can't believe they are real. Was Sophia a victim of a vampire? Most probably. So this is the secrecy and the cover up is all about. The existence of vampires. Before I could run and get away from him, Kol had his arms wrapped around me from behind. I was completely trapped by him.
"A lesson is in order for you as well darling, for talking back to me." Before I knew it Kol sank his fangs in my neck and started to drink my blood. A scream escaped my mouth and I didn't try to hold it back this time. The darkness slowly started to consume me and very soon I passed out in Kol's arms. Not knowing if I would wake up again or not.
Third Person's POV
Kol entered the Mikaelson mansion with the unconscious girl in his arms. He did feed on her but he also made sure that the girl wouldn't die on him, not yet at least. There was something about the girl that intrigued Kol even though he would never admit it, not even to himself. That's the reason Kol decided to keep her instead of killing her off. The youngest original son was making his way towards his bedroom when a voice stopped him in his track.
"What is it that you are carrying Kol?" asked Klaus knowing exactly that it was a girl, a hurt and unconscious girl to be exact. But what he did want to know is why Kol brought her to his place? Kol turned around to face his brother with a smirk.
"This is my new pet brother. I hope you wouldn't mind me keeping one." Clearly Kol wasn't asking for any permission, he was just letting Klaus know.
"Oh no little brother. Just don't make any mess in my place or I will have to throw you out" saying that Klaus left to mind his own business.
Kol went to his room and dumped the body on his bed. He was relieved that he didn't come across Elijah while carrying the girl. Kol could really do without a lecture from his brother. He took a moment to look at the girl. She was looking more beautiful now that she was sleeping so peacefully. The more Kol stared at her the more it was getting hard for him to not touch her the way he wanted. Suddenly his eyes fell on something that was poking out of the girl's jacket pocket. He pulled it out which was actually a photograph. Kol remembered her showing the photo to the quarter back Matt. It must be her missing sister who is quite possibly dead by now. Kol looked carefully at the photograph and a frown appeared on his face. He has seen the woman in the photo somewhere before but couldn't remember where exactly. She wasn't anything especial that Kol needed to remember. But now he wanted to remember where he had seen her before which made him concentrate in his memories. And he remembered the incident all on a sudden.
Flash Back
"Damon Salvatore" hissed Kol angrily as he woke up after getting his neck snapped at the party. He never suffered such humiliation. And from who? An insolent common vampire. He would make him pay. But he needed to feed first. The temporary death has left him starving for fresh and warm blood. Changing his tux, Kol wore something more comfortable that would make his hunt easy. He has yet to get used to of the modern age clothes. But he liked them so it wouldn't be a problem. Kol didn't bother telling his siblings that he was heading out and for what reason. Rebekah and Klaus watched him leave but they didn't ask him anything. Kol was already in a bad mood and they knew it was better to stay away from him at the moment. But they both knew that tonight several poor souls would suffer from their brother's hand. But they were as careless about mortals as Kol if not more.
Kol stepped into the street and looked around, hoping to find someone as quickly as possible. His hunger was increasing by every second. Suddenly Kol smirked because he could hear someone coming towards his way and it seemed to be a female. It only made Kol more pleased. Kol hid himself behind a tree so that he could suddenly appear in front of his victim and startle her. Just as he thought a young looking woman of age around mid twenty came into his view. She was walking and texting someone being completely careless about her surroundings. Kol shook his head to himself seeing how unaware and careless people are of dangers these days. He decided to let the game begin. As planned earlier Kol suddenly appeared in front of the girl and blocked her way. The girl was definitely startled at first but when she looked up at him, instead of being scared she smiled at him, not to mention rather seductively.
"You are not stalking me, are you?" asked the stranger girl with a coy smile on her lips. It made Kol smirk as well.
"What if I say I am stalking you darling" said Kol but it didn't scare off the girl. She was either very brave or very stupid.
"Well then I would say you are being creepy" said the girl flashing another seductive smile at Kol. The girl seemed interesting enough but Kol was itching to feed. He wanted to feel the warm blood rushing into his mouth. He almost moaned at the thought. What Kol didn't realize was that the thought of blood changed his eyes already and his fangs were threatening to come out as well. The girl saw this and her eyes went wide. Without thinking for a second, she started to run away from Kol. But she could never escape him. Before she knew it Kol had her trapped in a corner of an alley somewhere near Mystic Grill.
"What's wrong darling, you seem scared. And here I thought you like creeps" said Kol wickedly. The girl started crying by then.
"Please let me go. Please don't kill me." The girl begged him but it didn't work, it never works with Kol Mikaelson.
"I would let go darling if I could but I am so hungry right now and you smell so delicious." Kol looked into her eyes and compelled her.
"You will not scream. Just relax darling." The girl immediately relaxed in his arms and stopped struggling. Kol didn't waste any more time to sink his fangs in her neck. Warm blood rushed into his mouth just like he thought. It tasted so delicious that he didn't let go of the girl until she was completely dry. Kol dropped the dead body on the ground. The craving wasn't that much anymore but he could still feed on another human. But before he could go look for another human to feed on he needed to take care of the dead body that was currently lying at his feet. Any other time Kol wouldn't care but now it was different. Kol didn't want to face their mother's wrath anytime soon. He decided to drop the body in the mystic lake. It would save him the trouble of digging a grave.
Just as Kol threw the dead body over his shoulder he heard someone gasp from not so far away. Kol turned around and found the source of the noise. Another woman standing at the end of that alley, gaping at him and the dead body. It was Sophia. Obviously Kol didn't know her name at that time neither cared about. Realization crossed Sophia's face and she sprinted from there as fast as she could. But who could ever escape from Kol Mikaelson especially in a hunt. Very soon the woman was in his grasp, pleading for her life, begging him to let go of her. But Kol drained her dry as well and doing so killed her instantly. Later Kol collected both the bodies and dumped them in the lake. He was more than happy to kill not only one but two females in one night. Mortals are for food nothing more, never anything more than that.
