Longer Than Summer

'Cause you were mine for the summer
Now we know it's nearly over
Feels like snow in September
But I always will remember
You were my summer love
You always will be my summer love

Chapter 4

Kelsi grinned as she snuggled into Ryan's black and white long baseball top. He acquired it a few weeks ago, let Kelsi sleep in it and never seen it again – unless he was with her when she slept in it, which was often.

It was Saturday morning and Kelsi was so glad she could sleep in, the weekend before at Lava Springs had been amazing and this weekend her parents were away. So Ryan was staying and once again they were going to have a lazy weekend until Ryan suggested the shops.

"Ok but you're going to have to pull me away from the bargains," smiled Kelsi.

"Ok," said Ryan.

"No I mean literally I have a two hundred dollars to my name and I could spend it all. I would I have no self discipline," she said, as she got up.

"I…"

Kelsi cut him off.

"You are not buying anything," she said. "At least not for me."

They stood in the shop with the t-shirts. They had been there for twenty minutes. Ryan could see Kelsi was debating whether or not she needed three more t-shirts. She already had two necklaces, a leather coat, two cardigans, a pair of slippers, two nighties and some pyjama shorts and a set. As well as a couple of bras and panties sets. At that point in the shop Ryan had walked away. Now she was in the t-shirts and Ryan was mentally totting up her prices in his head.

"Kelsi you're going to be spending $50," said Ryan.

"What?" asked Kelsi, looking up at him, as she dropped the three t-shirts into her basket.

"Yeah," answered Ryan. "$70."

"I'll stop here," answered Kelsi, heading towards the check out.

"And you say you don't have self discipline," answered Ryan.

"No I have you as my mental calculator," answered Kelsi, as she eyed a pair of black heeled shoes and red woollen hat.

"If you get those you'll be up to $95," said Ryan.

Kelsi nodded and grabbed the hat and continued to the checkout.

"Not the shoes?" asked Ryan.

Kelsi glanced back over her shoulder at the shoes.

"I'm already in the queue," she answered.

"What me to go back and get them?" asked Ryan.

"Nah," answered Kelsi, looking wishfully over her shoulder.

Ryan turned and walked back to the shoes.

"Ryan!" called Kelsi.

Her turn in the queue came up and she couldn't do anything but pay for her things.

When she had finished at the cash register she went to the door to find Ryan waiting a bag in hand and she could clearly see the shoes in the bag.

"Ryan!" she protested.

"They were $10 dollars you can't protest at that and you wanted them," said Ryan.

"You brought the rules," answered Kelsi, as they headed to Ryan's car.

"Oh well you loved it," he answered.

Kelsi nodded as they drove back to hers.
