Chapter's Summary : To make the boys frozen by her smile, Kuroko Tetsuyuu is indeed something else.

Smile

A pair of emerald eyes noticed a piece of paper which a bit crumpled beneath his desk the morning before class. Midorima bent his body and took the paper with his bandaged fingers. As a disciplined and neat man, Midorima hates it when a trash was below his desk.

However, it wasn't a trash. Apparently, it was someone else's letter. At first, the green haired will just put it on the garbage until his eyes noticed a peculiar name from the letter.

Dear Kuroko Tetsuyuu-chan,

How are you, dear? I hope you're doing well in your high school. I can't believe my niece is in high school already! When I heard my favorite niece is enrolling Teiko high, I cried you know! Time flies really fast, isn't it dear? It's almost summer holiday as it's getting hotter. If you're free during the summer, you can help me here in Shirahama. Of course, I won't ask you to help me with the inn all the time! You can stroll around the area and have your own share of fun here. Me and Kazu will be delighted to have you here!

blablablabla

Midorima Shintaro knew he shouldn't read the letter. It was someone else's privacy. But he couldn't helped it when he saw a paper, on the floor right next to his chair's foot, so he picked it up, only to find out it was his former partner for cooking class' letter. He wondered why in Oha Asa morning fortune, he read the letter once he saw Kuroko's name written from the letter, even if it's only briefly.

The greenhead decided he should give back the letter to Kuroko's table, but then he cursed under his breath after he realized he couldn't remember where in the world her seat would be.

"Midorima-kun."

Midorima jerked from the soft voice coming behind him. His long leg bumped the desk. Thank goodness his lucky item for today, a mug, didn't drop from his table otherwise he'll live today with misfortunes. Only one human he knew who has low presence and could startle people with no effort. The said person was also the one who owned the letter.

Speak of the devil.

"Kuroko. Have more presence can't you?" Midorima grunted. Still irritated by the bluenette who startled him.

Instead of apologizing, Kuroko greeted the shooting guard. "Good morning. Can I have that back, please?" she asked, with her oh so ever blank face.

As Midorima pushed his glasses, with a huff, he gave the bluenette her letter back. He's silently glad that she didn't ask bothersome question like 'did you read it?' Instead, he asked.

"Why did it end up below my desk nanodayo?"

Kuroko blinked two times, face still blank. Strangely, Midorima felt his stupid heart thumped loudly when the girl blinked. What the hell nanodayo?

"Ah, maybe the wind from outside blew it. My seat is right there, you know." The girl pointed her seat, on the back next to the window, which happen to be on the left side behind Midorima. The window was left open, innocently let in summer's wind.

"What the-?!" the green head's jaw dropped. How can he not noticed her seat even after three months became her classmate?!

As if the girl could read his mind (though Midorima is pretty easy to figure out from his body language), finally, Kuroko let out a little different expression.

She knitted her eyebrow, before letting out an adorable pout "You didn't know my seat after all these three months? Midorima-kun meanie."

The boy pushed his glasses, again. But this time with his palm covering half of his face so the girl couldn't see his face that had gotten red.

Suddenly, the classroom filled with a lot of fangirl's squeals and dreamy sighs. The first year males that can make the whole school most female population went crazy were GoM + Momoi Natsuki. In other words, the one who just came in must be someone as famous as Midorima.

The two glanced towards the newcomer. His messy red locks were hard to miss as his charming figure majestically entered the classroom of 1-C. Akashi Seijuuro gave a smile of acknowledgement to Midorima and a smile of delight to Kuroko (This made the fangirls went crazy, though they didn't notice the smile was for the bluenette)

The green haired boy didn't exactly know what happened but in an instant, he felt that something happened to between his captain and the almost invisible girl.

"Good morning, Midorima, Kuroko-san" the way Akashi greet Kuroko as if it's a normal thing (because people would rarely greet the bluenette) fazed the green haired. Akashi, on the other hand, felt that it was a wonderful thing to run into Kuroko-san when he's got something to discuss with Midorima. Then again, they're classmates. Usually, it's always Midorima who came to Akashi's class, so Akashi rarely saw Kuroko until recently, only because he noticed her.

A rare thought came to his mind. Akashi wanted to be in this class with Kuroko-san.

Knowing it was impossible, Akashi still grateful for this opportunity. The redhead's chance meeting the mysterious bluenette was exactly two birds with one stone.

"Good morning, Akashi-kun." It was the bluenette who greet him back with a small, polite smile adorned her face. This made Midorima surprised from the sudden change of Kuroko's expression and Akashi felt satisfied suddenly.

Had Kuroko Tetsuyuu been a normal girl, Akashi combined Midorima fangirls would send her death glares and bullies her when the school ends. They must share the GoM, and GoM are no one's boyfriend after all. Luckily for Kuroko, with her low level of presence, she managed to escape the dramas.

"Thank you for helping me before." The girl bowed her head lightly, making Midorima slightly curious. Slightly.

"It's no problem."

"What help nanodayo." Curious, as well as not wanting to be left out, Midorima's brave soul asked.

"Something small." Akashi shrugged as his attention turned to the bluenette "By the way Kuroko-san, will you come to help our club after school? We're going to have a practice match with some alumni but Natsuki's absent."

Midorima's jaw dropped when he heard this.

Kuroko, on the other hand, got her baby blue eyes light up. Sure she's always going to watch their match by her own will, but being invited by a GoM's captain sure was different in the feels. Unconsciously, Kuroko brought a palm to cover her mouth left open by shock. Eyes still glimmering.

"You're playing with alumni? Wow, that's amazing. But is it okay for you?"

The answer was instant from the red head.

"Of course."

"Oi." Coming from Midorima who seemed can't accept it.

"For temporary until Natsuki back." Added the redhead.

"Okay then, I'll help you guys, Akashi-kun, Midorima-kun. So good luck!" she smiled, despite lacking of a bit of emotion, it was adorable enough to freeze both captain and his vice captain, eyes open wide.

Luckily the two quickly gained their cool back as Midorima coughed, breaking a brief moment of silence.

"So Akashi. You're here not only telling Kuroko-san to help us, right? I'm sure you're here for me." The greenhead commented as he giving Akashi a don't-flirt-back-to-the-business look. Midorima was getting impatient and slightly irritated. Not because Akashi was able to make Kuroko-san smiled nanodayo! It's because I'm getting ignored! Yes that's it! He chanted inside his head.

The red head, who knows everything and anything, gave Midorima a look which the green head couldn't interpret. It was a one second pause but for some reason, the green head felt unease.

Akashi, on the other hand, seemed to correctly guess what's going on between Midorima and Kuroko. For once, his vice captain, and the member whom he got along the most, made him feel… guarded, as if he's in for a competition.

"About training camp. We're going to discuss it right now for a moment. Follow me." The red head ordered.

"Hn. Alright nanodayo."

"Right. See you later, Kuroko-san." Akashi gave the bluenette a small smile before excusing himself.

At first thought, Midorima didn't want to be left out. However, since he's a tsundere (never will he ever admit it), he only gave Kuroko a grunt before leaving the classroom with Akashi. As the two went out from the classroom, of course, followed by the dreamy glances of those fangirls, Kuroko smiled. She can't wait until after school.

Murasakibara had one new hobby during the first break:

Eating on the rooftop as he talked about snacks with Kuroko Tetsuyuu, or now he nicknamed her, Kurochin.

This new hobby made his blond classmate getting more whiny and annoying every time he refused to eat with the blond (and the rest of GoM+Natsuki) in cafeteria.

After their meeting few days ago, Murasakibara discovered some interesting facts about Kurochin.

She likes snacks and sweets and had a great knowledge of them. The purple haired loves it when the small bluenette girl passionately discuss recipe of sweets or telling him shops that sell rare snacks. Especially, when the girl is no fangirl of him and not intimidated by their huge difference of heights.

Even though Murasakibara was also popular with girls from school, they also got intimidated by his heights, making him as the GoM member who has the most closet fangirls. It's still annoying though. Sadly, he couldn't crush those fangirls.

As the summer's breeze played their hair, the two sat comfortably on the same spot they first met at the rooftop.

The conversation started as small talks, then heavier topics of sweets, debating over which style they should eat sweets, until they realized how silly yet funny things they said. Laughter and giggles echoed throughout the rooftop.

It amazed the purple haired how Kurochin could be so cute despite having her face monotonous most of times.

"Oh, look at the time. The break's almost over." It was the bluenette who reminded him. She got up with her knees and cleaned some dirt on her skirt, letting out small puff puff sound. The cute motion made Murasakibara stopped munching his bibimbap flavoured maiubo.

To make it worse, Kuroko tilt her head. Revealing more of her soft left-side cheek.

"Come on."

The giant nodded absentmindedly as he got up.

Kuroko who noticed this asked "Is something matter?"

A pause.

Suddenly a huge palm covered bluenette's head and ruffling it softly. Murasakibara bend down to her eye level so he could see the girl better.

"Kurochin looks so delicious just now."

Despite the blank face, an animatic vein popped from the bluenette's head.

"I'm getting mad."

"Sorry~" said the purple head giant lazily as he forfeited his palm. His face didn't show any sign of guilt though.

As the two walked side by side, the bluenette remembered something.

"By the way, you're having a practice match with alumni after school, right?"

The bluenette just once mentioned basket to Murasakibara since their conversation was mostly about sweets and snacks. This made the purple head quirked his brow. Curious.

"Uhuh~ How do you know, Kurochin?"

"This morning. Akashi-kun invited me to help out after school since Momoi-kun is absent."

When the girl mentioned his captain, for some unknown reason, Murasakibara felt irritated. Why? Strangely, he also felt happy when the girl was going to help them.

"Aka-chin did?"

The girl nodded before giving a small smile, "Yup. Good luck, Murasakibara-kun."

In his life, whenever someone wishes him a good luck in basket, he'd just brushed it off with an indifferent 'thanks' or 'okay' or only a 'hn' while munching some random snacks. But this time, it's different. Having someone as nice as Kurochin telling him a good luck for a match was different. He felt warmth, his heart leaped because of happiness, and somehow, his stomach filled with something ticklish.

His lips tugged into a small, but sincere smile before letting out "Thanks"

Pair of honey eyes glare at the papers that lying innocently on the library's desk.

Kise Ryouta ruffled his blond locks roughly. Face paled, hand shaking. Taking the papers to his hands, he scanned the red mark score from his history small test. He would love to rip them or throw them to the incinerator in the back of the school so there won't be any traces left from those hideous scores. Akashicchi won't find it that way, yup!

Sadly, this is Akashi Seijuuro that he's talking about. The model student captain of his could easily ask the teachers about his academic records. Akashicchi was literally favorite student of all teachers and him being a candidate of school president made him more advantageous more than ever.

If the redhead knows about his falling grades (not that he's academic records were good originally), especially if he do terrible during the first semester exam and therefore had to left behind during the summer camp to get supplementary classes, he'll be doomed.

Imagining what scenarios could happen made the blond groaned.

The teacher were generous enough to give him a make-up short essay for his 'beautiful' score. The thing was, he had to finish them once school finished. To make it worse, there will be a practice match with alumni.

He should be writing by now, especially after he sacrificed his precious second break and after this, there's only a study hall since his English teacher was absent. Sadly, he didn't know exactly where to start. The paper for his essay was still blank.

Akashicchi was too busy to teach him. The blond only nodded with understanding (secretly glad with this since the red head could be one Spartan teacher)

Midorimacchi was too stingy and told Kise he's an idiot for not being able to study by himself. Man proposes, God proposes. The blond could only cried when he was reminded by the green head's catchphrase.

Murasakibaracchi…Even though his grade was not as high as Midorimacchi or Akashicchi, he's quick to understand materials and was ranked 20 the whole grade. But this was Murasakibaracchi. His way to explain study materials won't be what you call normal.

And then, there's Aominecchi.

Kise shook his head vehemently by the thought of the navy haired boy teaching him. No freaking hell. It's like blind man asking a direction to another blind man. But how in the world could Aomine scored better in history than him?!

Then, a bright lamp popped from Kise's head as a man with pink hair came into his mind.

Must be Natsucchi!

But the lamp quickly died out.

Right, Natsucchi was absent today, and probably for few days.

For the umpteenth times for today, he sighed. He can just borrow Natsucchi's notes later can't he?

However, what he's facing right now is different. Deciding that he finally had some idea where to start, he got up.

"I guess I should just ask the librarian where to find books related to the shoguns*"

When he's at the librarian desk, he glanced at the empty seats. The head librarian was on the break and the one who's doing library's duty was no where to be spotted. Looking right and left, his eyes were greeted by no one. He pouted "Where are the people in duties?"

"May I help you, Kise-kun?"

Kise shrieked. Typical reaction.

"YOU!" cried the blond as he tried to calm his heart's frantic beating. His finger pointed at the ghostly girl he met yesterday. His reaction was replied by the bluenette, raising her index finger and letting a small 'shush'.

It was a cute motion, he had to admit. But he hasn't recovered from the shock, yet.

'Who is she again?' then as Kise looked to the girl's nametag written 'Kuroko', the bluenette answered his silent question as if she could read his mind.

"It's Kuroko."

The blond gave her a look.

Nevermind the model reputation, he's now getting weird sensation to his body from this weird girl.

As much as Kise would like to avoid the girl, he needed to finish his assignment fast.

Swallowing his pride, he asked. This time without ikemen* fake smile he always give to girls

"I'm looking for Shogun related books."

"Ah, are you doing essay assignment for Ogawa-sensei's history lesson? Then I recommend you the one from Heian era." Explained the girl with her blank face. This gave another surprise to Kise.

"How do you know?" he asked suspiciously as if the bluenette had barged his privacy, but this time with a low tone. Almost like hissing at Kuroko.

The girl was unfazed. She tilted her head to her right side before blinked twice, revealing her long eyelashes.

Cute- wait what am I thinking?! Kise thought in horror.

"Yesterday Aomine-kun came in and asked me the same question. He had to make up the history test and since Ogawa-sensei likes to watch our basketball club, he gave Aomine-kun chance to do make up so he can play." The girl explained.

Listening to Kuroko's explanation, Kise stiffled his laugh. So that ganguro* failed too?! And he was boasting about how he could get safe score in history when they ate during the first break. What a joke.

"Alright, show me the book."

"This way." The two then walked towards the bookshelf. Kise stared the girl from behind. Her chin-length blue hair glowed as her thick locks giving away elegant vibes. Her pale and petite posture made her seemed like a delicate porcelain doll. When Kuroko stopped, the girl gave some recommendation of which books should be used as a reference.

It amazed Kise how she could give him an easy explanations and how to start his assignments. She's really helpful.

'Now come to think of it, I actually managed to do my Japanese lit because of her…' the boy's thought wandered during Kuroko's explanation. 'I guess I owe her. I should be nicer to her.'

"Kise-kun?"

"Huh? Ah. Right, so I think I'll have this two. Thanks, Kuroko-san! You're really helpful." he finally gave a smile to the girl.

"Do you need any more help in writing?"

Deciding he shouldn't trouble the girl anymore (and his manly pride told him not to), he refused.

"Nah, you already gave me some helpful tips and books. All that left is to do it with my own efforts!" the blond beamed as he puffed his chest. However, his loud voice earned him another 'shush' from the girl in front of him. He cover his mouth by his hands in reflex.

Finding the silly act, Kise stifled another laugh and Kuroko let out a low giggle.

"Hope you finish your assignment soon, Kise-kun. The match will be boring without you."

"Eh? Kuroko-san know about our practice match after school?" Then again he thought, who wouldn't know?

"Yes. Akashi-kun invited me to help out temporary since Momoi-kun is absent."

"Ah, Akashicchi did?" 'Right, she's the girl Akashicchi mentioned.'

The girl gave him a cute nod, before letting out a sweet smile that made his heart raced.

"Good luck" and then she went back to her librarian duty, leaving the blond frozen, dumbfounded.

This time, thank goodness, they gym weren't crowded with female population. The disciplinary committee had done a good job for once. Though, some people doubt it was a hand job of certain red head captain that made the committee did their job.

The heat made Kuroko Tetsuyuu flapped her uchiwa* on her hand as small wind soothe her face. She's on the door side, a little shy to approach Akashi who's in the middle of discussion. As always, she could easily get in as her low presence help her. Though, this time, she was personally invited by Akashi Seijuuro to help, and watch the practice game.

It was a delight for her.

The said redhead noticed that gaze. It means Kuroko-san was there. As he tried to looked around for some good 3 minutes and frowning, his face brighten up once he saw certain bluenette girl on the door, only to drop again when a navy haired boy beat him by greeting Kuroko first.

"Oi Kuroko! You came!" Aomine small ran as he approached her.

Kuroko gave a wave and small smile. Barely audible in the middle of squeaky shoes sounds and balls bouncing around "Doumo"

This gained Aomine's teammates attention, especially the other rainbow coloured head teens.

"So she really came nanodayo." Midorima almost smirked when he noticed the bluenette. Of course his tsundere pride won't let him. Typical.

"Oi~ Kurochin~" some people gave Murasakibara a look since he waved at the girl with a huge smile, as if a child meeting his favourite playmate, and giving her a nickname already.

"Ah, cissu Kuroko-san!" Kise who didn't want to be left out also greet her. Though he was surprised when his teammates already recognize her. Except for Aomine.

Some people who finally noticed the girl let out a surprised whoa-since-when-she-got-here?! Which was pretty typical. The GoM laughed sheepishly at their reaction.

One brave soul remarked "Huh, why is there a girl here? I thought disciplinary committee has driven all of them out?" This earned the pour soul sharp looks from the GoM. He froze.

Fortunately, for him, Akashi explained "I invited her to substitute Natsuki for a moment. Don't worry, she won't cause commotion."

After some surrendering 'Ah, okay's from here and there, the coach, Hyuuga Riko greeted the low-presence girl.

"Ah, so you're Kuroko-chan! Come come! I'm so glad you come in to help!" the newly-wed coach pulled Kuroko by her arm to the bench. In an instant, Kuroko was surrounded by a lot of tall guy, making the girl a little bit intimidated. However, as always, her calm and blank face didn't show anything.

The bluenette, who's as polite as ever, bowed as she introduced herself. "Hello, I'm Kuroko Tetsuyuu. I help here only for temporary until Momoi-kun come again. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu."

She got a loud "Ossu!" as a reply. Riko was amazed by Kuroko's lack of expressions and calmness while being surrounded by much taller guys than her.

After some briefing and before the game start, the navy haired walked back to the bench as if he remember something. he stopped on his track in front of the bluenette. With a cheeky smile, the boy gave Kuroko fist.

"Watch me." Eyes filled with hope and expectation. Heart beating uncontrollable as he started feeling hot inside.

Aomine didn't know what came into him. But he knew one thing: He wanted the bluenette to watch his play.

Although their meetings have been short and limited (the first was the whole third string gym's ghost fiasco, the second when he's with Natsuki in infirmary and the third time when he's in rush looking for some book references) Aomine found out that she's interesting, different, fun, and… pleasant to be around with despite the heart attacks she gave.

She's a bundle of challenge filled with surprise and mystery to him.

So far, she never failed to surprise him. Like now.

She replied his fist with her own as their skin touched. Pale cheeks became rosy and sweet smile tugged from her cherry lips.

"You better give it all!"

Aomine froze for a moment before letting out a smile that could outshine the night.

"Ouyo!*"

Apparently after doing some janken*, the team was decided. GoM won't be on the same team as they are going to be playing with and against. Both Akashi and Aomine would be the white team while Midorima, Murasakibara, and Kise would be the black team.

Kise groaned when he had to be stuck with Midorima and Murasakibara who's throwing each other annoyed glares. The two can't elaborate well if there's no Akashi as mediator, after all.

As the two team bowed to each other, letting out "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu", getting in their position, then the whistle was blown: Signaling the tip off.

It all started with Murasakibara's hand who touched the ball, as the tip of his hand managed to pass it to Kise, who's on his guard not far from him.

The blond dribbled, but Aomine quickly took this opportunity as a one on one chance.

With the navy haired being quick with his reflex and higher ability than the blond, Aomine quickly defeated Kise in their one on one as he stole the ball. With ease, (and luck due to Murasakibara and Midorima still throwing glares to each other), he passed another player with his speed and by the time he's inside the two-point area, he dunked.

A whistle was blown, giving the 2 points for white team.

"Yosha!"

Aomine balled his hand and cheered, happy that he scored first with a flashy dunk while the other spectators and alumni gave amazed "Oh"s

Deep blue met baby blue.

Aomine's eyes telling Kuroko that there're more to see and she shouldn't miss it. Which she wouldn't.

.

.

.

.

The game ended up in white team's victory, 92 to 85.

"DAHO! How can you let personal feelings get in the way during the game! Did you know you two dug your own graves during the game?!" Hyuuga Junpei, although was on the white team gave a loud scolding for both Midorima and Murasakibara, who literally dragged down their own team. The alumni of Teiko as well as Riko's now husband gave an earful preach to the green haired and purple haired.

As a punishment for the losing team, they had to ran around the school's courtyard for 5 times. This gained a lot of groans.

Of course, Riko wasn't that much of a demon. She still allowed the losers to take a short break before shoo them to the courtyard.

Kuroko, who's being really helpful right now, distributed the towels and drinks to the worn out players. It was Aomine who enthusiastically took the drinks and towel from the bluenette, which the navy haired teen unaware of jealous looks from his teammates.

"Good work there, Aomine-kun." Said the girl as she gave him his drink.

Aomine gulped half of the content hastily which made him chocked. This made his teammates chuckled at his failed moment. 'Fuck, that was uncool!' he swore inwardly in the middle of coughing, embarrassed.

"Aomine-kun!"

Soon, he actually tanked his uncool moment when the bluenette patted his back a few times, making him breathe normally again.

The rest of teammate gave him another jealous look.

"Heh, thanks. How was my play, by the way?"

The girl gave her compliment with a soft smile.

"It's amazing as always. Flawless, I may say."

Before the navy haired could respond, the purple haired boy joined in. Giving Kuroko an expectant puppy face he complained,

"Eh~ Why you only complimented Minechin? I was amazing too right, Kurochin~?"

It was Midorima's turn who joined in with an animatic vein popped on his head "Such a word for a loser."

Offended by the green head's insult, Murasakibara growled. Head inching closer to Midorima's as another glaring contest started.

"You were lame too, Midochin. I guess your lucky item was only for a show."

Snap.

That's it, no one insulted OhaAsa's fortune telling and lucky items in front of Midorima Shintaro.

He growled, "Murasakibara, kisama*(you)..."

"Maa maa, you guys! Don't start it here, okay?"

However, Kise's effort was futile as a fight were about to break. Strangely, Akashi didn't stop them this time since he know who's going to stop those two. Instead, he's watching the scene in amusement.

As the tension raising, it was Riko who stopped them with her dangerous smile.

"You three. Laps. Doubled."

Well, they can't say no to their coach. So like obedient puppies, the loser team went out to the courtyard and do their laps. Otherwise…

They don't want to think about it.

"Urrgghh why am I always dragged down to this mess?" Kise cried as they do their laps.

.

.

.

"So, Kuroko-san, are you interested on becoming an assistant manager?" the redhead offered.

"Eh?" the bluenette bemused.
