Hey guys, sorry this took forever and a day. Trust me when I say you have no idea how much I hate the stuff preventing me from doing this. Speaking of which I'm thinking about getting a beta reader but I'm not sure how the whole thing works so PM me if you're interested. As always I really appreciate follows, favorites, reviews and PM's (that aren't ads).
Love,
Eleora ^.^
After changing I continued chatting with Carol, I liked her. She is smart and spunky and I was getting very intrigued as she began her story about her ... Questionable beginnings on the Enterprise when my comms unit beeped. I held a pausing finger up to Carol and touched the insignia "This is Ensign Europa Pella." I stated clearly and a gruff voice responded "Pella your presence is required in the medical bay immediately, that's an order. Signing off." I turned to Carol "Who was that, he sounded rather grouchy." Carol smiled "He does come off that way. That was our Head Medical Officer, Doctor McCoy. He doesn't really like flying..." she stated, then said "You better go there right away. Take that elevator down two floors and it should be to your immediate right." I nodded "Alright, thanks! See you later." I said with a smile before stepping into the elevator. My stomach let out a huge growl as I pushed the button and I hoped that my hunger would be excuse enough for the small, bright shaft that started to slowly spin and spots started to frame my vision. I started to concentrate on the faces and their emotions that I had experienced today, causing the spinning to stop just before the doors opened, but the dots persisted. Trying to stay as calm as possible I immediately found the the med bay and hurried in as seemingly confident and professional as ever. "Pella!" A tall man with a tan complexion, brown hair and a demeanor that screamed pissy called out. I immediately went to him, trying to blink away the specs in my vision as I walked. "How can I help you Doctor McCoy?" I questioned, clasping my hands behind my back uniformly. Odd, they're clammy. I hope he doesn't want to shake... I thought warily as he checked his electronic note pad. "I noticed some strange behavior on your part during Orientation and thought you could benefit from another check up." he stated, motioning to a medical table. I reluctantly scooted onto it as he grabbed a scanner "Bodily functions seem to check out... But you do have a slight fever of 99°," he stated calmly "What?" I asked in alarm, "It's just a fev-" he started to say, but was cut short by a beep from his machine. "What is it?" I asked, sitting up a little too quickly. Spots once again speckled my vision and my head spun, and the Doctor's voice seemed to wash away. Before I knew it, I had blacked out.
It was a sudden bright light that woke me. I quickly squinted my eyes shut. "You should be fine now." stated. "You had come down with the Benzite flu, I'm surprised you didn't come in earlier those damn spots should be enough to warn anyone that something's wrong." he continued as I slowly opened my eyes, relieved that his flashlight- or whatever it was- was no longer pointed in my direction. I slowly leaned back up, and I was feeling much better. There was a dull ache in my neck so I went to rub it, discovering a small bandage used to cover the shot that must have cured me. I turned to , who was once again doing something on his table and asked "Am I set to go?" Something on his tablet had clearly upset him and he looked heated as he murmured something unpleasant under his breath. He then looked up at me "I've had seventeen patients today with that same damn flu, all of which were on the same shuttle craft that brought you up here. Now there was one more human on that craft and he's probably infected but his goram communicator is broken so I can't contact him. You need to go find him down in engineering before he causes this whole damn ship to go down in his feverish delusions!" he said angrily, honestly paranoid and very upset. I quickly responded "Of course Doctor." and jumped off the examination table, heading for engineering.

Engineering sure was a chaotic hustle for such a carefully calibrated and vital part of the ship. The sea of red shirts flitted this way and that, performing check after check. Above all the noise was a clear, accented shout "Don't ye dare mess with that you wanker! -Gonnae no dae that!- Left! No, you dobber your other left!" I scanned the room for the authoritative voice and found a balding Scottish man up above the jumble. I quickly navigated my way to and up the stairs to the Chief Engineer Lieutenant Commander. "Excuse me sir." I said politely when I came into hearing range, and he turned around "I don't recognize you lass, what are ya supposed to be doing?" he replied quizzically, and I could practically smell the stress he was under as he looked me up in down. "I'm Ensign Pella from communications and I was just treated for the Benzite flu by Dr. McCoy. He has reason to believe that your Officer Johnson has also fallen ill but he can't reach him through his malfunctioning communicator, I was sent to find him and convey the Doctor's message." I responded calmly and he nodded. "Ye gads, I hope it's not serious. I'll get my shadow to show you to him." He then mumbled into his communicator before turning to me "I'm Montgomery Scott but you can call me Scotty," he said with a smile and I took his extended hand in a firm shake, "Europa Pella." I responded with an equal smile and in seconds I heard quick footsteps dash up the stairs and a surprisingly familiar accented voice say "You called for me Scotty?"
Scotty replied "Aye Chekov, let me introduce-" before I cut in "We've met, thank you Scotty." I could feel the heat flood to my cheeks as a small reminiscent smile crossed Chekov's face. Scotty looked back and forth between us before giving a curiously knowing expression and nod "Right... Well escort Miss Pella down to hydraulics so she can find Johnson, and fer Gods sake fix his comms!" he exclaimed. Chekov nodded to Scotty in a flustered manner before excitedly responding "Yes sir!" and nodding towards the stairs. "Ladies first" he said and I smiled my approval, I was only two steps down when we heard Scotty shout "Oi!" and put his hand on Chekov, whispering not quite quiet enough for me not to hear "If yer a cannie lad you'll gan get that bonny lass and make her yer burd." Chekov nodded but was obviously confused when he caught up to me. "What did he say?" I questioned and he ran a hand through his hair with a shrug "I'm not quite sure." he said with a grin and I mirrored his smile.
"So being on the bridge for navigations isn't enough for you?" I teased and he replied smiling "Vell, I just love learning about the vay things vwork, and there have been a few times I've had to do things manually." I saw his eyes light up as I responded "I love learning too, I have a real fascination with plants and communications but my passim is definately in astronomy." "Astronomy, so being among the stars isn't enough for you?" he teased, failing at an American accent - I admit it- adorably. I laughed "So many people spend their careers up here yet never stop bustling around to see the beauty before their eyes. Even with all of this technology scientists still can't really explain how the universe is so perfectly balanced and we still are ages away from being able to get close to a sun." I said, stopping before I snowballed into a speech about the final frontier. I looked back at him and he wore a curious expression, a mix of happiness, awe and... Something else. "What?" I asked, shyly pushing my hair behing my ear out of habit. He blinked and smiled "Your zeal is inspirational, I never thought of it that vay." he said, his 'it' sounding more like 'eat', I grinned, leveling out my smile when a thought came to mind. "I could teach you, show you pictures of galaxies, constellations, even how cultures are effected by it... If you want." I exclaimed, searching his eyes for an answer. "Yes! I vould very much like that, but zat is such a generous offer! I cannot accept without giving something in return." he replied with a stubborn smile. "No really it-" I started but he cut me off with a shake of his head, stating "I inzist!" I gave a dramatic eye roll to hide my smile "Fine, maybe you could teach me something- what do you think?" I asked and he smiled, asking "Do you like math?" My thoughts on that matter must have clearly been expressed on my face because he laughed "I guess not. Hmm... Communications right? Do you know Russian?" "No, that would be perfect!" I exclaimed, and he grinned. "It's a deal!" He said and suddenly stopped, causing me to almost stumble but I regained my composure in time for Chekov to introduce me.
"Officer Johnson, this is Europa Pella, she has a message for you and I am here to fix your communicator." He said with a smile, the man nodded, handing Chekov his communicator before I relayed Dr. McCoy's message to him. Chekov was done right after me and Johnson ran off, leaving us in the the white quiet of humming machines. "Well I better get back, I'll see you later." I said with a smile, a million thoughts of whether to shake hands, hug or wave swimming in my head like whirlpool. He mirrored my smile as he replied "Me too. See you later Bright Eyes." he turned to go but I shouted "Wait!" and he turned around "What's goodbye in Russian?" I asked. He shouted "Daskidayna!" and ran off. I walked toward the nearest elevator, whispering "Dah-ski-don-iuh", the pronunciation, to myself with a small smile. As I entered the elevator I suddenly realized I had not felt dizzy for the whole while and threw a mental dance party. Quietly I stated with confidence "Things are going to be great." And that's when the alarm went off.
