Shocked at such a reaction, Harry and Ron stared at Hermione in dismay, their eyes questioning, but she only said, "Go on; I'll try to be there later." They nodded hesitantly and started back the way they came, shooting her nervous glances over their shoulders, as she and Snape continued walking again in silence. Hermione wondered what Hagrid would say when she didn't show up, and what Harry and Ron say about it; she hated disappointing the sensitive half-giant.
