Lovers Cross and the Showdown…
Chapter summary: Sandy and Silver's relationship blossoms… Nova assists in the capture in the Fearling King…
Arthur's notes: I honestly have no idea how many chapters this story will have, but I am doing my best to keep my inspiration for this story going : Being without internet is slowly draining the life and creativity from me ~.~
F.Y.I. = Sandy is 18 and Silver is 17…
Now on with the story…
Disclaimer: I do not own 'Rise of the Guardians' or 'Guardians of Childhood'… Thank goodness, or it would never get done…
Time flies as children become teens and secrets become buried under lies of "My daughter" and "Part of this family", and it does not take long for those lies to become truth. Kozmotis continued to raise Silver alongside his real daughter, who was making a life of her own, and had let Nova and Sandy stay with them in their home.
Sandy was following in his father's footsteps, becoming a star pilot, and because Silver was not allowed to enter the school Sandy did extra hard in his studies, just for her… but he was not in it alone. Silver would test him on every subject he was taking, working till he had it down perfectly.
As Sandy excels in his classes, he gets the chance to work alongside his dad as a 'student' pilot. What does this mean? It means that he has access to his dad's shuttle hanger at any time… with, or without his dad.
'Sandy… for the hundredth time, I cannot see.' Giggled Silver as she was pushed by Sandy, wearing a blindfold of golden sand. 'Now can you please tell me where we are going.' she smiled with her hands out in front of herself.
'Not yet…' He stated as he guided her into his father's hanger 'I want this moment to be remembered forever.' Sandy then had Silver stand in front of the golden ship. 'Ok, now you can open your eyes.'
She did as she was told but only saw the gold of the blindfold 'Um, Sandy?'
'Yes…'
'I'm still blindfolded.' she giggled as she closed her eyes.
'Oh! Sorry about that. Please, close your eyes once more.' he stated as he released the golden sand.
Once she felt the blindfold come off, she opened her eyes slowly to find the old sail ship before her. '*gasp* Sandy, your dads ship and hanger? But I thought you could not be in here without your dad?'
'That is true… for those who have average grades.' he smiled 'I just happen to have the highest in my class!' he then pulled her into a hug 'And it's all thanks to you, Silver.'
She blushed a dark gray as she was in his arms 'Aw, I-it was nothing... really.' she hugged him back with a smile.
'But it is something Silver!' Sandy stated as he pulled out of the hug but still held her in his arms. 'And to show you my thanks, I was thinking of taking you for a ride…' he stated looking into her eyes, only to blush and stammer a second later 'O-on the s-ship I mean... thru the sky.' he gave a nervous smile. 'Smooth move genius.' he scolded him-self.
Silver could only giggle and place her hand on his arms 'That sounds fun…' she then leaned to his ear, to whisper the last part of her statement. '… and exciting.'
He blush a dark gold as this was whispered into his ear. With a grin, he stated 'Well… let's get started then.'
Nova took a step closer to the cliff overlooking the asteroid he and the other senior pilots have pinned pointed the Fearling King's last known location. He was followed by Kozmotis and the Golden Age Army.
Kozmotis looked over to Nova as Nova himself watched below for the dark menace. Nova was losing much of his golden glow since that day, an eye patch over his right eye as well as hiding his left arm under an unnecessary cape. There where bags forming under his eyes.
"Might I ask how you have been my friend?" Kozmotis asked as he looked back to the barren land.
'… surviving.' Nova replied as he did not look up at the general '… and you?'
"The same." Kozmotis replied with a hand thou his slick black hair "It won't be long now, and this whole nightmare will be over."
'… Do you still think that he can be held back by a mere prison?' Nova stated, turning his eyes to the golden general.
"Do you still think he is a poison that will end everything?" Kozmotis stated in return. "I am only following orders…"
'… and it will only make things worse.' Nova finally turned to him 'Locking him away will only allow him to fester… Unless he is faced head on, he will destroy all life as we know it.' his eyes narrowed 'You know as well as I do that you have to face fear to stop it… not lock it away for it to only come back and kil…'
"We found him, sir!" Stated a solider as he called from below.
They both turned to look back at the solider, and then to each other. Kozmotis pulled out his weapon of choice, the scythe. "We'll talk about this at another time." he smiled to Nova.
Nova nodded as he created a long bull-whip from his dull sand. 'If there is 'another time' for us to talk…' he stated to himself as they headed to the battle.
Sandy lead Silver to the wheel of the ship, guiding her hands to the ten and two o'clock positions. He reached for a rope that freed the sails of the ship. 'Now, we are going to a nearby nebula for a little joy ride, ok.' he told her.
'O-ok.' she replied shaky as he opened the hanger. 'Are you sure this is ok with your dad?' she asked.
'Yes.' he stated at first with confidence, then his brow furrowed 'Well… maybe not, but we already went this far without his consent. If worse comes to worse, I will take full blame for It.' he smiled to her 'After all, I am captain of the ship when my father is not here… that makes you my responsibility.'
'Oh… Well when you put it that way, I guess it is ok then.' she smiled to him, turning her head back to the front of the ship.
'Good… on to the Orion Nebula!' Sandy stated as the ship left the hanger and sailed into the sky.
Silver felt the wind blowing her back as they picked up speed, had it not been for Sandy's strong grip on the wheel she would have lost her grip on the steering. She looked up into Sandy's eyes as he focused on sailing the ship into open skies. He held a smile on his face as the ship went faster and faster into the sky.
She held on as tight as she could, pulling herself up and watching as things she could not identify whizzed by them at their current speed… it was an 'aw' inspiring sight to see for her.
'This is nothing, my dad and I have gone faster than this.' Sandy stated as the ship picked up more speed. 'The faster we go, the sooner we will be there!' he shouted with vigor.
Silver could only smile and whoop with excitement as the ship went faster.
It was not long till Kozmotis and Nova had the Fearling King cornered, along with the Golden Age army and the other pilots.
The beast hissed "Why fight the enviable? You could be Gods among stars and men alike!" he raised his dragon like skull "You could rule over all!" he roared.
"We will not listen to your lies Beast!" Kozmotis roared back "Men… ATTACK!"
It was not long when all, solider and pilot alike, charged in to subdue the evil beast. The beast used his tail to knock away most of the opposing forces, Nova ducked to avoid the tail, gritted his teeth, and charged with intent to kill.
The beast spotted the dull gold color of the aged star pilot; he swung a black claw to the charging star. Nova jumped when he saw the incoming claw. While in midair, Nova pulled his whip back and readied himself for the right moment to strike.
It happened as if in slow motion; The Fearling King turned his head towards the launched star, Nova throwing his arm and snapping his wrist back. The end of the dull golden whip coming closer to the beast's blood read and bright yellow eye; the right one this time.
Not wanting to lose his last good eye, within a split second, he sprouted huge leathery like wings… using the right wing as a shield from the dull whip.
It worked, but The Fearling King's new right wing was sliced in two… diagonally from the claw.
"GGGGRRRRRAAAAA!" the monster screamed as directed his head to the sky.
'AAAAAHHHHOOOOO!' Silver screamed as they sored thru the sky. She leaned back into Sandy, a large grin on her face. Sandy leaned his nose into her shimmering gray hair, smelling a faint scent of vanilla and mint. With his feet firmly planted to the floor, he wrapped his right arm around her stomach and leaned more into her hair. 'She smells… chillingly sweet.' he blew off his curiosity as unnecessary as he slowed the ship down some.
Silver noticed that the ship was slowing down, down enough to where she felt a light breeze on her face. It was still hard for her to believe that they could travel the empty vastness of space without protection. It still felt weird to her.
She began to look around at the space they had started to slowdown in; It was a wonderful mixture of rose reds, baby sky blues, and vast amounts of pale pink with numerous amounts of dotted lights. 'Wow… Is this the Orion Nebula?'
'Yes, we are here.' Sandy smiled as they slowed to a stop in the middle, their ship a yellow stand out amongst the red, pink, and blue nebula. 'Would you like to sit with me on the main deck?'
Silver smiled as she turned to wrap her arms around his neck and leaned her nose into his 'I would love to Sandy.' she rubbed their noses together, then looked into his honey brown eyes 'You brought me out here for a date, didn't you?'
'Mmm-maybe…' he smiled as he looked into her gray-blue eyes as he guided her to the main deck. 'But you aren't apposed to it… are you?'
'Not in the least Sandy, shall we continue our date?'
"Don't Stop! Keep It Up!" Kozmotis yelled as swung his scythe into the monsters rib-cage.
The Fearling King gave another roar of great discomfort as it swatted its claws at the men below it.
Kozmotis ran underneath the dragon like monster running along its belly. He dug the tip of his scythe into its chest and pulled it behind himself.
Nova aimed to hit the monsters good eye once more, grabbing the half destroyed right wing as it flapped in discomfort. As he was launched into the air, he readied his whip once to strike the beast's right eye.
But the creature saw out of its peripheral vision the old star. Its ribbon like tail spiked up, and before Nova had a chance to whip the eye… Nova was stabbed in his right lung by the tail. For a moment, Nova was stunned into paralysis…
Sandy helped Silver to sit next to him on the deck of the ship. They both sat quietly as they stared at the Orion Nebula. Silver leaned her head onto Sandy's shoulder, catching a whiff of his hair.
'His hair smells salty and sweet, like an ocean and honey…' She closed her eyes as she inhaled deeply '… and he smells… warm.'
Kozmotis runs out from underneath the beast and looked to where the tail led… only to find the aged star impaled on the end.
"NOVA!" he screamed as he slashed at the tail of the black dragon…
'I like this warm smell coming from him.' she thought to herself as Sandy turned his head to the silver star.
Sandy leaned his head closer to hers… slowly parting his lips some… his heart gathering more speed…
Nova's eyes flashed a moment of determination as lashed out his whip on the dragon's good eye... multiple times.
Silver's own lips where slightly parted, her eyes still closed.
Sandy's lips mere centimeters from hers.
'I wonder… how she tastes.'
Kozmotis didn't cut even half way in to the tail of the monster. He looked up to find Nova slashing his whip with all his might at the final eye of the beast. It slammed the end of its tail into the ground roaring in pain, with Nova still on the end…
Sandy placed his hand on Silver's back behind her neck, the other on her left arm. Without opening her eyes, Silver placed her right hand onto his chest. She leaned her head back some as he pulled her close.
He closed his eyes…
Kozmotis ran to Nova's aid as the others continued the fight. Nova gasped as he was propped up in Kozmotis arms, the wound was infected with black sand… and it began to spread fast.
Sandy and Silver where soon lip-locked; she slowly raised her hands to his cheeks and around his neck, pulling herself as close as possible to him. His hand on her neck worked its way to the back of her head, the other worked its way around her waist.
It was not long before their kissed grew deeper, their hearts sped up and their breathing quickened.
Nova looked up into Kozmotis eyes. He gasped as he slowly lifted his right hand to feel the wound. Nova's cape fell to reveal that his left arm was blackened, his hand a dull gray.
Nova gave Kozmotis a peaceful smile as his left eye began to close… for the final time.
Silver gave a moan as she put her hands on the back of his head and pulled herself as close as humanly possible. Sandy returned her affections, laying her back down onto the deck of the ship.
Their scent mixed together; ocean honey and mint vanilla…
They soon separate, so as to catch their breath. Their eyes open, and staring into one another.
Nova's body disintegrated into nothing, leaving behind one signal eye patch.
Kozmotis could only clutch the eye patch as he screamed to the heavens'. His good friend, slain in battle.
When Kozmotis was done screaming, he placed the eye patch into his pocket for safe keeping. He turned to the beast with anger in his eyes. He stood and glared at the snarling beast as it rampaged in pain, its body slowly regenerating back to health.
He slowly began to walk towards the monster, that walk became a jog, which soon became a run, his eyes solely on the beast itself. His weapon pulled from its sheath.
He charged full force at the beast…
The two teens stared into each other's eyes, their breaths evening out. Sandy leaned down to gently place a kiss onto Silver's lips, only for a moment. He opened his eyes after the kiss and looked into her eyes once more. They did not need word between them; he lied down next to her on the deck of the ship and placed a hand on her right cheek.
'So long as you are alive, I'm alive. As long as you bleed, I bleed. When you die… I die. You are my Matespirit.'
Silver smiled as she leaned into his hand, a light purr coming from deep within her throat.
'As long as you live, I will be with you. As long as your heart beats in your chest… so too does mine. Without you… I am nothing, my matespirit.'
She looked into his eyes, her kiss swollen lips giving the kindest of smiles to Sandy.
'I love you Sanderson ManSnoozie, with all my heart.'
Kozmotis roared as he dug his blade into the heart of the beast. It roared as it turned its head to the sourse of the pain, The Fearling King now blind in both eyes. Both golden orbs are directed to Kozmotis, thou he did not see the general.
While the beast was distracted, the remaining star pilots used their golden sand to pin the black dragon down.
The dark dragon flared its nose and guided its eyes in Kozmotis direction. "Do you think you can stop me Kozzy… Eventually, the walls of my prison will crumble, and I will be free once more to spread fear and darkness…" it blinked its eye "And you, Kozzy, will be my first victim… My first minion for my fearling army."
"And I will kill you… If you escape." Kozmotis sneered as the beast was dragged away to its new prison.
Kozmotis then reached into his pocket for Nova's eye patch. He gave a sigh as he looked down at the last thing of his cherished friend.
He will have to tell Sandy the dark news…
Sandy smiled as Silver told him she loved him. He pulled her into a hug and kissed her face, the last being her lips. 'I love you too, Silver. I love you too.' he cried tears of joy.
He could not wait to tell his father he had found his matespirit…
As Sandy guided the ship into the hanger, he noticed that Kozmotis (along with three soldiers) where standing in the hanger as well. 'Well, I did say that I would take the blame for anything.'
As both teens leave the ship, Sandy was about so say something… But the look on Kozmotis face stopped him in his tracks.
'Dad… What is the matter?' asked Silver as they neared the soldiers. Kozmotis pulled out the eye patch and handed it to Sandy. Silver gasped as Sandy looked at the item with horror. Sandy then looked up to Kozmotis to see tears in the general's eyes.
"Your father, Nova ManSnoozie, d-died honorably in battle." Kozmotis then saluted Sandy "It was an honor to fight by his side." Kozmotis was doing all he could to not cry.
Tears began to spill from Silver's eyes as she held Sandy, who fell to his knees with tears in his eyes. He clutched his father's eye patch close to his heart. He looked to Kozmotis once more…
'Please… tell me what happened…'
The eye… It all started with the black sand infecting his eye. It spread slowly over time, slowly killing him. Nova's clock was ticking ever so slowly. His power, his skill, his life force… was leaving him.
It was all over when he was stabbed in the lung.
They gave Nova ManSnoozie (and others who were killed in battle with the Fearling King) an honorable burial. The service was not long, bur it felt like forever to Sandy.
It was a rainy day, dark clouds blanketed the skies.
Sandy stayed by his father's grave… even after most of the guests had left.
It was still raining when only Sandy, Kozmotis, and Silver.
Sandy was in the open rain. Silver and Kozmotis both had umbrellas.
Silver looked up to her father 'I… I'm gonna stay with Sandy. I can't leave him like this.'
"I understand Silver, I have somewhere I have to be right now or I would stay with the both of you." he placed a hand on her shoulder "He needs you now more than ever."
She gave him a smile and walked over to Sandy, holding the umbrella over his head.
Kozmotis gave a small smile as he left the two teens to themselves, knowing that Sandy will take care of Silver.
He made his way to the prison, seating himself in front of the main door. Kozmotis glared at the small barred window of the huge door, marked with symbols that will stop the beast in its tracks.
"Do you think that you can keep our secret from her? She will find out." the beast spoke from beyond the bars.
Kozmotis only glared.
"Hehe… How long do you think you can last siting there? The mind can only take so much… Kozzy."
'He is right… How am I going to last against him like this?' Kozmotis thought as his face did not change.
'So long as I'm here, my dad won't have to worry about that.' Stated a silver star as she stood by Kozmotis side.
Kozmotis turn his head to see Silver standing by him. "Silver?! What are you doing here?!"
'Sandy is traveling for the time being, now that he is a Star Pilot… He needs time to himself. And I am not going to be locked up in the palace while you are here.' She gave him a warm smile 'I am no longer the helpless infant you found.'
Kozmotis could only smile "You are right my daughter. But I do not want you to stay too long." He looked to the caged creature with eyes like a hawk.
The creature only stared back "I will bide my time… for now." its yellow eyes staring back at them.
Ending notes: Well, that's it for this chapter. What do you guys think? I'm sorry it has been so long since I last updated this story, but I will not let it die just yet. I just got new inspiration to continue all thou my other story are on halts till I can work out the kinks (or re-do the whole story). What has been getting in my way was lack of internet, needing a job, and my grandfather always scarring me every 5 minutes when his show goes to commercial… It's how he shows he loves me but it makes me lose focus on the story and unless I am going to make a profit from it (Which is illegal in this case because I do not own 'RoTG' or 'GoC') he does not care. I have told him that I do this to unwind but he does not see it that way. Enough of my minor problem…
I listened to the album 'Panic! At The Disco: A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.' while typing this chapter out… all 13 songs, over and over. (I copied it from my ex-boyfriends cd he had :P)
I also have an idea for a sequel to this story (which is still being worked out… and will be under the 'RoTG' category): "Origin of Fearlings: Return of The Fearling King"
It will be rated M for drug usage (mostly the use of marijuana, but that is it… if you think it should be a rating of T then let me know because I don't think marijuana is bad or a gate-way drug, but you have others [for-the-children-people] out there that would say otherwise.).
