Leaf's P.O.V.

I walked into my favorite class of the day 4th period Music. I had escaped 3rd period gym early since I ended up in 3rd place in the race. I wanted to be early to music so I could sing a bit by myself. I had about 10 minutes. When I walked in the music room I noticed I wasn't alone. I heard the strum of a guitar. I closed the door quietly. There was a boy sitting there with brown hair he was turned away from the door. He didn't noticed me. I stood there for a second then he really started playing the guitar and he wasn't bad. I recognized the song from the first couple of strums, but I couldn't piece it together. I was impressed, but then he started singing "I remember what you wore of that first day, you came into my life and I thought hey you know this could be something". I insistently knew the person and the song as soon as he started singing it was I memory I had tried to get rid of a long time ago. A memory that haunted me. A memory of a person I would never forget. "Cause everything you do and the words you say you know that it all takes my breath away" he kept singing and the memory's started flooding back. I wanted to tell him to stop, but when I tried I couldn't speak. Then one of the memory's I had tried to get rid of start playing in my head.

I was in my room in the my castle. I was seven. There was a knock on the door. "Come in" I said politely. And one of my maids came in and said "Your father has requested your presence in the throne room in 15 minutes." "Ok thank you, Emily" and she walked out of the room. I went to my closet and put of one of my favorite dresses it was green. My favorite color. With gray underneath and green lace. Then I got changed placed my tiara on my head made sure my hair was perfect and headed for the throne room. As I entered the throne room I said "Hello daddy, you wanted to see me." I looked and noticed him and Jason my older brother sitting in his throne to daddy's left. I also noticed there were five chairs pulled up in front of them. "Yes, I'm sorry if I interrupted you in doing something Leafy" Dad had said apoligizingly. "No that's alright daddy I wasn't doing anything" I said. "Ok good, come sit Leafy we have a lot to discuss" I went and I walked past the five people sitting in the chairs in front of daddy. I sat in my chair to the right of dad. When I sat down I noticed my best friend sitting in one of the five chairs. " Gary!", I squealed when I figured out it was him. "Hi Leafy" he said and smirked at me. I frowned " You know that only daddy's allowed to call me that". He laughed then stuck his tongue out at me. "Alright that's enough you two " his mother said trying not to laugh. Jason and Gary's older brother Jack were already laughing. "At least we know they get along pretty well" Gary's slightly older sister Ella had said smiling. "Yes that's true" Daddy said laughing. " Well on to why we're here, Leafy do you remember what we were talking about that when your older you would have to get married and that you would know soon who that person would be". I shook my head to answer yes that I did remember. "Well we have decided". "Who is it, who is it!" I said "Tell me, Tell me". "Told you she'd be clueless" I heard Jason whisper to Jack. "Yea, Gary was the same way before he found out" Jack whispered back. "Me" Gary said standing up. "Gary!" I said and ran over and hugged him. " Leafy, Gary" my dad said. We turned " Why don't you go outside and play." "Ok, " Gary said politely and bowed before grabbing my hand. He started running out of the room. I knew where he was headed. We got to our tree. This was our special place. The place none of the grownups or maids knew about. The only other people besides me and Gary to know about this place were Jason, Jack, and Ella. "So how long have you known about this" I questioned Gary. " He smirked at me "A month". "and you didn't tell me!" I screamed. He laughed at my sudden explosion " I wasn't allowed". "That's never stopped you before" I mumbled. He laughed again "Very true". It was quiet for a second. Then Gary jumped out of the tree "I'll be right back." He came back with his guitar. "I started a new song" He climbed back up and started playing and singing. "I remember what you wore on the first day. You came into my life and I thought, hey you know this could be something. Cause everything you do and words you say. You know that it all takes my breath away." He stopped there " That's all I have so far. But this song will be written for you Leaf. "I smiled "I always knew you loved me back" I said softly. He suddenly turned to me "What?" "You heard me" I said. He laughed and smiled at me " I don't love you". "Gary don't joke with me, of course you do or you wouldn't have agreed to marry me." "Leaf its true I don't love you" he looked at me and I knew he wasn't lying. I jumped out of the tree and ran for the throne room. I was in tears. I burst in the throne room and ran up to dad. "I won't, I won't marry him", I cried. He doesn't love me so I won't do it". I ran to get out of the room, but Gary was standing in the doorway. "Leaf" he said. I pushed past him and ran to my room and cried and didn't leave for 3 days. Gary never came back after that.

I came out of my flashback. Gary had stopped singing. I knew he never finished my song. But then he took a breath and started again "But now I'm left with nothing" He sang. I couldn't believe it he did work on it. "So maybe it's true. That I can't live without you and maybe two is better than one. But there's so much time to figure out the rest of my life and you've already got me coming undone and I'm thinking two is better than one." As he finished a single tear slid down my cheek. This had been the first tear I shed in nine years, the last time had been the day he left.

Gary's P.O.V.

I finished the course. Then I heard the door opening. I quickly turned to see a girl standing there. I turned back around "How long have you been standing there" I asked. "A few minutes, I walked in right when you started singing" the girl said. "What did you think?" I asked. "Good, but I've heard it before" She said. But before I could ask what she meant the bell rang and people started to enter the room. She sat down across the room. Then the teacher walked in "Hello class, my name is Mrs. Summers and this is 4th period music. Now for today we will be singing." Then she turned to me "Gary I've heard you can play many instruments". I nodded "Yes Mrs. Summers I can." "Then would you mind playing instruments today" she asked politely. "Sure Mrs. Summer's" I said. "Ok then who will be first?" She asked" any volunteers?" "I will go" the girl from before said. "Ok you only have to do the first verse and course of you song" she said. The girl smiled and nodded. I will be doing an original song she said and got up handed a couple sheets of music to me. I sat down at the piano. Then she whispered in my ear "listen to the words and you should be able to figure out who I am." I was confused and then started playing. She took a breath "Can't see you anymore. You're in, and shut the door." She sang I recognized the voice and the words, but I couldn't put my finger on it. She continued "Didn't know what I do know now. With words I've been betrayed. You respond and let them fade. And I just won't let you bring me down." I know her voice I do, but I recognized all the words every last one and I don't know why. "You can see what I know and I know. Somewhere there's a sorry heart. Tell me why these roads keep leading. Leading you right back to me." No it couldn't be her. " Liar liar , don't cry on my shoulder. You played with fire and smiled when you told her. Oh, oh, thought you were someone. Oh, oh goodbye to no one" she finish. I stood up. "Leaf" I whispered and pulled a piece of paper out of my pocket. It had the exact same words in the song as on the letter. The song had been about a goodbye…to me. She turned "Yes, it's me Gary" Leaf said.
