p style="color: #222222;"Susan walked into her office with Dylan still screaming her head off. Susan grabbed a file and walked back out of her office. While Susan was on the way to the ER, she stopped off at the nursery and got a bottle of milk and a pacifier. Susan gave Dylan the pacifier and then readjusted her in her arms. It took a minute but Dylan finally started to calm down and then Susan got back to work on her next patient in the ER. /p

p style="color: #222222;"Lena had all but ran to Stef's room and when she got to the room, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her wife was laying in the bed with wires and tubes everywhere. It was dark, the only light coming from the various machines and a series of call buttons situated on one wall. Moving to her side, she looked down at Stef, her heart aching as she took in the pallor of her normally olive-toned skin and the seemingly never-ending series of wires and tubes that connected her to the machinery surrounding the bed. She reached out and touched her lower lip, tracing over the newly re-opened cut before ghosting across the bruise on her left cheek and then slowly tracing the stitches along her right side of her head./p

She linked her fingers tightly with Stef's, lowering her head until it was resting lightly against the cops shoulder, the tears she could no longer hold in check coursing down her face. "I'm sorry." Her voice broke as her chest hitched painfully. "God, baby, I am so, so sorry." Lena held Stef's hand and prayed...probably more than she ever had in her entire life than she had been in church. /p
