Gibbs' POV

With Robin sleeping in my arms - darn it's been a long time since I've carried a sleeping child - I head down to Abby's lab. I hope the kid won't wake up when we're down there, he's probably terrified of labs.

He was used as an experiment; a lab rat. He never actually admitted to that specifically but it was implied. He was sold as an assassin, as well. He was only, what, 7 years old? He shouldn't even know what that word is!

I messaged the whole team to head to the observation room if they wanted to see the kid before he went home, because I thought that we'd send him back to his family once we've sorted out everything, but I'm guessing he was probably a street kid or something similar if he was taken so easily. And he hasn't asked for his family, either.

I need to speak to Ducky about trying to organise a medical for Robin, and I doubt he'll want to do it. He probably hates anything that even resembles some kind of medical equipment. Poor kid, but we can't just let him go without one. It's most likely been at least three years since he's had a regular check up, he really needs one. We need to assess the damage that's been done over these last few years.

That can wait, though. First I need to see how Abby's done with the names for our ex-marines and then I want to see if she can find more detailed information on Robin.

Walking into her lab, I can see her eyes are red and she's typing angrily at her computer. She's been crying. I alsmost did too, when Robin started talking.

"Abbs." I whisper quietly from behind her.

She whips around and is about to speak when she spots the little boy sleeping soundly in my arms. She just stares at him for a while before whispering out shakily, "He's so small. And cute. Like a little kitten."

"Abbs, I need the names."

She quickly whips around. "Oh, right! So, the names all checked out, and I have a list of past offences - drug abuse, alchohol abuse, speeding, that stuff - and a list of current locations. They split up, and bought burn out phones, but Timmy traced their emails to the phones and we have each of theirs location!"

She collects something that was printing next to her and hands the two pieces of paper to me. I shift Robin in my arms so I can grab the paper, and regret moving when his eyes flutter slightly. They stay closed, though, thank God.

"Hey, Gibbs, can I hold him? He's just so cute!"

Distracted slightly by the papers in my hands, I nod and let Abby gently take Robin from my arms and into hers.

His eyes flutter and open, and he quickly scans the room, tense, before relaxing when he sees me. I send him a little smile, and go back to reading.

Abby introduces herself, gushes over his ridicoulously blue eyes, and starts to fuss over him. He seems to enjoy the attention, and often lets out these fluttery heart-melting giggles.

It's odd, really. Lots of people are wary of Abby because of her appearance, and you'd think children would be even worse, but Robin seems almost at home with Abbs, like he grew up in a place where that was normal.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts when I feel a tug on my shirt. Abby's holding Robin and he has this happy, childlike expression on his face, which is something I haven't seen on him yet.

"We are going to go see the team! Bye Gibbs!"

Abby quickly rushes out of the lab, with Robin waving over her shoulder, so I start to head my way down to Ducky to talk to him about the kid who, so far, seems to have melted the hearts of everyone he meets - even mine - with just one bat of those bright blue eyes.
